I understand that many local restaurants use prepackaged ingredients, but I didn't expect to find tough lettuce stalks, broccoli, and other leftover vegetable pieces mixed throughout--almost as if they were added to make the salad look fuller. When I asked the waitress about it, she replied, "Yeah, they throw everything in there--sorry." If that's how the taco salad is prepared, it should be disclosed on the menu. We also ordered a ribeye and another steak. While this isn't a steakhouse, the cuts were decent for this type of restaurant. Since I already had a discount, my concern wasn't the cost or a refund--it was the responsibility to let customers know what they're being served. Unfortunately, the salad ruined my appetite. We later returned and had a much better experience. Abbi and Cassandra were pleasant, and Deven provided excellent service. Despite the restaurant being extremely busy, he remained calm, attentive, and apologetic about even minor delays. We also enjoyed the house-made soup and tried the September specials. Overall, this was by far the best of our three visits. Great job by Deven (5 stars)--he was a breath of fresh air--and both hosts communicated well. (Also 5 stars)

This takes me to the city of Fernley, NV (about 30 minutes east of Reno) where I had the opportunity in trying out "Ranch House Restaurant". This restaurant is adjacent to the "Silverado Casino" which is only a small handful of operating casinos in the Fernley area. We were both very hungry as we ventured through South Lake Tahoe, Carson City, and Virginia City, our appetite grew as the evening went on. After checking into our nearby hotel (which was luckily 1/3 mile from here) and getting washed up, we made it to the restaurant at around 7:15pm on Friday 6/19/2026. Upon entry, the interior layout looks straight out of the 1970's complete with posh booth seating, wood panels, and brick walls in a very spacious dining area. This is quite reminiscent of the old school casino restaurants in the more prominent Reno casino restaurants; mainly Silver Legacy and Nugget. Once seated, we were given two menus and requested an iced water (for myself) and a Diet Coke (for her). One minor drawback which could be a make it or break it for many is that the internal temperature of this restaurant was quite cold. My guess is that it was only around 66°F so if you plan to dine-in, come dressed accordingly! I will say that the menu is quite extensive with ton of options to choose from. This includes appetizers, all-day breakfast, soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers, and a lot of excellent entrée choices. After making my way through the entire menu of options, I settled with the "Grilled Salmon" entrée (priced at $18.99). This consisted of a house salad, a 6 oz. filet drizzled with balsamic glaze, steamed veggies (mainly zucchini and squash), and I opted for a baked potato (that came with butter & sour cream). She chose their "Old Fashioned Cheeseburger" (priced at $12.99) which came with lettuce, tomato, pickle, & onion on a brioche bun. She opted for cheddar as her choice of cheese and the burger came with a side of seasoned steak fries. Total time took roughly 15 minutes from when we placed our orders to when we received our food. I will say this; the food here is quite delicious. My salmon was a very thick cut and at less than $20 for a salad and full entrée, you absolutely get your moneys worth. The veggies had excellent texture while my baked potato was piping hot. This isn't a 5-star dining experience with a very no-frills atmosphere but it is your above average casino food that is eerily similar to other restaurants that are adjacent to casinos that I've dined at over the decades. Our waitress, Cassandra was very polite and professional while the ambiance, price, and food was definitely above average. My rating for "Ranch House Restaurant" in Fernley, NV is a respectable four stars.

I was prepared for what is kindly called sub par service and an almost comical availability issue that i'll speak more to in a moment. We visited on a Tuesday afternoon at about 4:40 for an early dinner. The restaurant wasn't busy and we were seated immediately. It took a good while for the order taker to come over and accept our order. The drinks took what we feel is a normal amount of time to arrive, and the food even a bit longer, but we were prepared for slow service based upon the experiences of others. We ordered some buffalo wings (bone in), tacos and onion rings. (we didn't order alcohol by choice). The wings were standard and probably a little better than what's currently available in Fernley, and my wife enjoyed the tacos (salmon). The onion rings had a nice batter. I felt the wings weren't fresh as they held no temperature heat and the onion rings appeared to have been sitting a while as well. We requested No Special sauce for the onion rings and No ranch/bleu-cheese for the wings but rather BBQ and some more buffalo sauce. The flaw I experienced in their service delivery is the fact that the food came to us with the incorrect sauces (instantly corrected - thank you ) because they were delivered by runners who have no idea about the special instructions relayed to the order taker. I dislike group service efforts- it's like the old game "telephone" and the product never comes out right in the end. While seated we heard others asking for on tap beer. The scuttlebut around here is that this "Ale House" has not served any "real beer" yet and there is no ETA about when that will change. You're an Ale House? This is a franchise and obviously the franchisee is struggling big time. The place is relatively clean but a bit cold as the AC seems to be set to overdrive. We found it a little pricey $80 with tip for basically wings (15) onion rings and tacos (2) supported by two soft drinks. At best i'll call and order some wings ahead of time to pickup during football season but it is highly unlikely we're coming back for another sit down meal. We were not impressed with the rest of the menu. Essentially the rest of the menu consists of burgers and some salads. We did not even look at the dessert menu as it was small and insignificant to us. It's a good step up from what is considered diner food but it isn't anything special. I hope they do ok. Their business lay in attracting transients from the interstate. The locals are tuning out fairly quick.

Also signed up and suppose to get $5.00 off the next sandwich. By the time I arrived they were bagging it. Order was correct- Split the sandwich and it was very filling.. I saw them prepping but wasn't sure if you can get the sandwich in a bowl.. which I wouldn't mind trying- I do like the offering of variety of sandwiches.. Looking forward to another sandwich day!
