My late parents always told me that some of the best food comes out of the casinos. Since they…read moreloved visiting Reno (primarily for gambling purposes), they always got an amazing prime rib or lobster dinner for a very affordable price. This takes me to the city of Fernley, NV (about 30 minutes east of Reno) where I had the opportunity in trying out "Ranch House Restaurant". This restaurant is adjacent to the "Silverado Casino" which is only a small handful of operating casinos in the Fernley area. We were both very hungry as we ventured through South Lake Tahoe, Carson City, and Virginia City, our appetite grew as the evening went on. After checking into our nearby hotel (which was luckily 1/3 mile from here) and getting washed up, we made it to the restaurant at around 7:15pm on Friday 6/19/2026. Upon entry, the interior layout looks straight out of the 1970's complete with posh booth seating, wood panels, and brick walls in a very spacious dining area. This is quite reminiscent of the old school casino restaurants in the more prominent Reno casino restaurants; mainly Silver Legacy and Nugget. Once seated, we were given two menus and requested an iced water (for myself) and a Diet Coke (for her). One minor drawback which could be a make it or break it for many is that the internal temperature of this restaurant was quite cold. My guess is that it was only around 66°F so if you plan to dine-in, come dressed accordingly! I will say that the menu is quite extensive with ton of options to choose from. This includes appetizers, all-day breakfast, soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers, and a lot of excellent entrée choices. After making my way through the entire menu of options, I settled with the "Grilled Salmon" entrée (priced at $18.99). This consisted of a house salad, a 6 oz. filet drizzled with balsamic glaze, steamed veggies (mainly zucchini and squash), and I opted for a baked potato (that came with butter & sour cream). She chose their "Old Fashioned Cheeseburger" (priced at $12.99) which came with lettuce, tomato, pickle, & onion on a brioche bun. She opted for cheddar as her choice of cheese and the burger came with a side of seasoned steak fries. Total time took roughly 15 minutes from when we placed our orders to when we received our food. I will say this; the food here is quite delicious. My salmon was a very thick cut and at less than $20 for a salad and full entrée, you absolutely get your moneys worth. The veggies had excellent texture while my baked potato was piping hot. This isn't a 5-star dining experience with a very no-frills atmosphere but it is your above average casino food that is eerily similar to other restaurants that are adjacent to casinos that I've dined at over the decades. Our waitress, Cassandra was very polite and professional while the ambiance, price, and food was definitely above average. My rating for "Ranch House Restaurant" in Fernley, NV is a respectable four stars.

Last-minute decision to stop by Ranch House since it had been quite a while since our last visit…read more It took a few minutes before we were seated, and unfortunately they only had one Father's Day rib special left. The ribs were pretty good--tender and moist--but could have used a little more BBQ sauce. The coleslaw was tasty, and the baked beans were okay, though both were seasoned on the lighter side. Our server, Parker, was pleasant, attentive, and accommodated all of our requests. She did her best despite the restaurant appearing to be short-staffed. Overall, the experience was okay, but the restaurant could benefit from stronger management support and better staffing levels. Service quality is likely to be impacted if these challenges continue, and it already seemed like employee morale may be suffering. Hopefully the team receives the support they need, as there is still good potential here.

It has the perfect mix of small town diner WITH affordability. Prices aren't inflated to the moon like the surrounding restaurants. They have a bar inside too! The servers were super friendly and sparked up a conversation with everyone. It's exactly what you'd see in movies where the small town restaurant staff knows everyone. Even if they didn't, it sure as heck seemed like they did. Crepes were surprisingly good because the orange color threw me off for a moment, but omg. lol. They were really good and the filling was sweet! My husband loved his burger. Nachos are perfect for hangover recovery 10/10 we're going there again

Breakfast was surprisingly good--especially since I'm not much of a breakfast person. I ordered the Great Beginnings, and everything was on point: good-quality bacon, eggs cooked just right, and even the hash browns (which I normally don't like) were cooked really well. I also grabbed some sweet chili wings, and they were pretty tasty too. Service ok; they were kind of busy for a small restaurant. I heard they even provided food for a couple of hours on Thanksgiving, which is an amazing gesture--especially from a small, family-owned restaurant. Really impressive!

There's just something comforting about a warm bowl of Pho; it's basically a hug in soup form. Of course, we also had to order a few of our longtime favorites -- the Salt & Pepper Shrimp and Sesame Chicken. Both were delicious as always and definitely hit the spot. So happy to finally have a place in Fernley that serves Pho. Looking forward to coming back and trying more from the menu!

For this particular review, I am rating this place a 5-star based on the town it is located in…read more(Fernley) and relative to the other restaurants available to choose from (even the non-Chinese ones), which are few. Dragon City is the one of the best dining establishments in Fernley, NV. There, I said it, and I stand by it. Inside, you will find a comfortable atmosphere with warm lighting and friendly service. Especially compared to other places in town, the seating is quiet, comfortable, and inviting. The food may be a little on the pricey side, but you get a TON of it with every serving and will have extra food to eat for the next day or two, easily, to the point it's like purchasing food for a family of three for three days. I usually order my food to-go, over the phone, and it's usually ready in ten minutes. Even if they say the wait will be 20-30 minutes, it's generally ready in 15-20. They'll even text you when the food is ready! Dragon City's food is flavorful and consistent, which cannot be said for the other Chinese food restaurants in town (and none of them have even close to the same atmosphere). What I especially appreciate about this establishment is that their meat is always tender, especially their Sesame Chicken. Wow, what a dish! It's my family's favorite. Our other go-to dishes are Broccoli Beef, Kung Pao Chicken, Pork Mu-Shu, and of course the trusted standbys, Chicken Fried Rice, Chicken Chow Mein, and an order of Pot Stickers. Their Sweet & Sour Pork and Orange (or Lemon) Chicken are pretty decent, too, but sometimes a little sweeter than we're in the mood for since we're also getting the Sesame Chicken nearly every time. All-in-all, Dragon City is one our favorite places to frequent in this little town. We had avoided even trying the place back when it was called, IIRC, "Louie's Chinese Bistro." I just couldn't picture a guy named 'Louie' running a Chinese place, and "Bistro", a French word for a place that cooks comfort food... yeah, I couldn't reconcile that as a place I wanted to go for Chinese cuisine. I don't know if they changed ownership or just the name, but once they became Dragon City, we gave them a shot and we are very happy we did. The quality was so far over the other Chinese places in town that we've never been tempted to go elsewhere again.

It's absolutely worth the money, and they're always generous when you ask for extras like dressing, salsa, and sour cream. You get to choose your protein, and it typically comes loaded with two cheeses, red onions, tomatoes, black olives, jalapeños, and refried beans. I'm a firm believer you won't be disappointed if you give it a try! Service today was just as great as the food. Huge shout-out to Kenji, who rang up my takeout order, Miguel, the PM Manager, and Jani, the server, who went above and beyond by finding us next door at the Fernley Nugget and personally delivering our order purely out of kindness. That level of service truly means a lot. Another great visit filled with good food and even better service!

Place is slow on weekdays but once seated, just try to flag down a server. I hate writing bad reviews but the service is the biggest problem. Servers who are either undertrained or just don't listen. This last time we stopped in for lunch, I just ordered a bowl of the soup de jour while my daughter ordered a cup of the same soup and a wood fired pizza. I told the server that I d like my soup when her pizza was served, not before, because it was my meal. What do ya know, both soups at the same time and both big bowls. My daughter mentioned that she'd only ordered a cup and I repeated that I really wanted my soup WHEN her pizza came out, as it was my lunch. The server took mine away without comment. When the pizza arrived, we kinda gave it a few minutes before finally walking over to the bar to ask where our soup might be. The answer??? You'll have to ask your server. I finally found her and asked after my soup. Her response? Oh, I thought you said you didn't want it. I was nice but repeated my original order again. My soup finally arrived as my daughter was finishing what she could eat of her pizza. When the bill arrived, charge for two bowls. I paid it, but subtracted difference between cup and bowl from service tip. I sure hope they get a handle on service because it is such a delightful design and atmosphere, with an epic beer selection and menu. But until they do, I'll stick to visiting their carson city location and just keep driving when I hit fernley.
