Don't get me wrong, I love talking to the baristas there, but sometimes it can be more like an interview than a conversation. When one of the barista posted about Kokomo Espresso, my girlfriend said that we should go. I figured why not, a change from the norm. When we rolled up to Kokomo Espresso for the first time, there was a lovely barista named Lauren there to take our order. She didn't have any of the overwhelming energy you would find at Dutch Bros, she was just a genuinely sweet person. She took our order, and was very helpful in choosing the flavors and type of beverage. The first thing I would like to point out is the price: Dutch Bros has been increasing the price of their drinks, incrementally throughout the last few years, to the point where a large Rebel (32oz) will set you back almost $8.00, but a large Lotus (32oz) is only $7.00, saving you a dollar per visit. The flavor is also super refreshing, and I feel somewhat healthier (as healthy as one can while drinking an energy drink) consuming it. Since the Lotus is a plant-based energy syrup, as opposed to a Rebel, which is not, it's technically at least a little bit healthier for you. The flavors also definitely stick out a lot more than the Rebel, as the Lotus base has a much less overpowering taste than the acidic Rebel. Overall, I couldn't possible recommend Kokomo Espresso enough. This is absolutely going to be my new home coffee shop, and I'm happy to call it that. I strongly recommend everyone to go give them a shot!

The menu on the drive thru doesn't show everything, like for smoothies, it just says "smoothies", but doesn't tell you what kind. So I had to ask, to which the lovely person at the window was happy to answer. I got an iced matcha latte with oat milk for myself as I wanted to compare to a certain other mainstream place & a strawberry banana smoothie for the bf. The lined moved very quickly & the girls at the window were also very friendly. They recommended I get the app as there's perks & I can pay easily pay through there. Took the drinks home & they were both really good. Boyfriend enjoyed his smoothie & I tasted it as well. You could taste the fruits in there & it was really refreshing. Mission Cafe is a diamond in the rough; a gem of a coffee shop recently opened in the Five Corners area of Vancouver. It's nestled in between a daycare and a church in a strip mall... a little incognito as they've yet to put up signage. The interior of the coffee shop is bright and spacious, and smells absolutely wonderful! They brew their coffee with beans locally roasted by K&F Coffee Roasters, the oldest family run specialty roaster in the area. Mission's dedication to excellence shows in the delicious drinks they serve. As the coffee shop is located near a client, I've been fortunate to stop in several times. Even on the rainiest of days, it's all sunshine and smiles in this place. The manager, Jen, is one of the nicest people I've ever met. She's made me a few of her daily specials, and always has suggestions for trying new drinks. Word is they'll be expanding their food menu, but at the moment they offer granola bars, delicious muffin tops, as well as bagels with cream cheese. I love supporting locally-owned businesses, and I encourage others to do the same. So you can imagine my absolute delight when Chaos opened in Hazel Dell, merely three miles from my home! Chaos is an adorable bright pink truck, adorned with the coolest skeleton motif and run by a beautiful and hilarious mother-daughter(s) team, who brew Kafiex beans with the most skilled and consistent results in town! Brewed Awakenings who?? I don't know her anymore! Chaos makes Washington-style Americanos with aplomb using plenty of ice so you don't just end up with a watery mess, and the price is incredibly low, especially for the quality. Kafiex are truly one of the best roasters in the entire world, not just the county or state! I imagine the smoothies and matcha are good too, but I'm too busy slurping 32 oz of caffeinated goodness to branch out. I get something different nearly every time, and NEVER has Chaos disappointed. Can't say enough good things about Compass in Washougal!…read more The baristas are very skilled and after being here 1-2x a week since they've opened, I've never had a bad coffee. Milk is always properly steamed/aerated, espresso is never burnt or over extracted, etc. Their competition blends are INSANE, well worth the $. Even on our home espresso machine the flavor is truly incredible. There's always people meeting up with friends, working, studying, etc. Very cozy. It feels like Compass is building true community.
