OMG. Worst meal in a long time. Had "grouper" and the fish was NOT fresh. I suspect previously frozen and defrosted and then froze again. Horrible odor and revolting fishy taste. When brought to the attention of the floor staff, my complaint was met with a surly attitude - as if to say, "if you do not like it here, go some place else." I will. And, btw, not cheap nor good value. As a senior citizen, I take offense at how my complaint was handled. read more

If you check out their website you can see pictures of their food, if you want to see pictures of your food, go about 100 yards down the road to the Eagle diner, it has the same pictures on its menu and the food is better... so is the management and service. read more

I have been here for lunch with the kids, for dinner with the kids and dinner with just adults. Each time the food has been very good. The Reuben sandwich is excellent. The wedge salad with a petite filet ($22) was very good. Veggie Burger was home/hand made and great. Had a different server each time, but all were great. The atmosphere in the bar area is very loud in the evenings but it's a pub and that is to be expected, I think. There is a small separate dining room for those with little kids or people that don't want to deal with the noise of the pub. Overall, we like it here very much and will be back often. read more

We went on a Friday night, and I was REALLY happy to see the place completely packed. Our server was lovely, but service was a bit slow ... however, I am chalking that up to the place being mobbed. I thought my entree was average, and simply think I should have ordered what I saw at other tables (the sandwiches, wraps, and salads look great). We were in the quieter dining room, which is lovely if you don't want the loud bar room - which we did not. So the room was fine. But sometimes the loud bar room is just what you want - it was hoppin' and friendly, so we will try that another time. I will definitely go again and give it another try. This place gets a solid 10 ! First of all we had a reservation at 6:30 on a Saturday for 10 people, which grew to 24 people, not a problem and they were very busy, with the crowds from Peddler's Village. Our waitress was GREAT, she had a real edge to her style, I thought I was in Jersey. She took all of our orders, food and drink. EVERYTHING was perfect !! Everyone enjoyed what they ordered, I had the grilled chicken and it was one of the best I've had, in terms of flavor and build. It wasn't sloppy or a thick piece of breast meat thrown into a bun. This was The Square One Market Sandwich, $12 well worth the price. Others had burgers, corned beef, the pork chops OMG. First time we were here and the place has a nice relaxed feel to it. We had the mushrooms ( not me I hate them but the broth was delicious), the hummus (so good just needs more veggies with it..only had pita and cucumbers). My husband had the oyster po boy and he loved it, I had the crab and lobster roll, it was really good but the bread got to soggy to really be able to pick it up. I told the waiter who said he would let them know. I was okay with it because I'd had enough bread at this meal anyway. Portions are big and the peach cobbler martini delicious. After reading such great reviews, my husband and I had lunch at the Square One Pub today. The food was fresh and delicious. We had the baked brie and pork empenadas for appetizers. My husband had the square one burger and I had the square one salad and chili. We also had the chocolate layer cake, which we were too full to finish and brought home. The menu has so many items to choose from that it was tough to decide what to have. We will definitely return. The hostess and server were very friendly and welcoming. We had 4 entrees, two were terrible, two were good...but who wants a 50% chance of having a bad meal. The two veal dishes were awful; overly breaded very tough veal right from the freezer, one was presented as veal parm and the other as viener schnitzel. The swordfish and salmon were good. This self-designation to us usually implies an emphasis on alcohol and the menu is usually a varied assortment of easy to cook staples and reheated frozen food. Being in a large strip mall reinforces the stereotype. Not this place! Everything on the menu is made from scratch and is delicious. The food is even attractively plated. The bread is baked on premises. Servers are friendly but not obnoxious and the noise level is reasonable. Sunday and Wednesday there is live music in the dining room, with even a few couples dancing. Decor is typical modern pub decor, not trendy or chic. Prices are reasonable and great value for the quality of the food. Any restaurant on Main Street in New Hope could serve this food at double the price and be packed with customers. read more

I was very surprised with this recommendation. A person told us that he goes there often and loves it. Gave me a funny face when I told him where we were going to dine, so took his advise. The waitress was very nice and helpful. I'll start with the apps. We have fried pickles which had a nice taste but to thick. I guess that's personal preference. The mozzarella planks looked like ravioli, mushy noodles, not like the picture. I had the veal, which is always iffy. So It was a little chewy and supposed to come with a butter lemon sauce. So when my hard ball of butter was on top, I was a little confused. I asked for the same sauce but melted, and they gave me melted butter with capers. Another person had crab cakes, which was ok. Another had the filet mignon, which they like. Next time I'll keep to my original pick. read more

We happened to be driving by on our way to New Hope when we stumbled upon this pub for lunch. We had a great experience here. This place has it all, burgers, fish, home style comfort food, charbroiled porkchops... anything you could want. There is a large wrap around bar with plenty of seating, surrounded by pub style tables. They also have an additional dining room for a more intimate dining experience. The food is excellent, the house burgers are thick and juicy, you can't go wrong. Charbroiled porkchops were excellent, did I mention the Red Snapper, again, excellent. The service was outstanding, our server, Meghan is truly a professional with a personality that can match anyone's wit. When I heard the boys from the old Bowmans were opening a bar/restaurant I thought this would be a breath of fresh air New Hope needed. So we proceeded to go with our minds highly anticipated! Sooooo disappointed we have been to Square One 4 or 5 times and each time it seems-that they did not think his through from a customer service position, they opened extremely under staffed. Don't get me wrong as I have owned 2 restaurants In my life and know that customers want service!! They have had 2-3 bartenders behind the bar and no waitstaff on the floor in the bar area at all. The bartenders come out from the bar to wait on the tables therefore leaving a full bar (at times) With no staff to wait on them and many customers waiting for drinks or to order food for 15-20 minutes! The bar staff can only get one drink at a time even if you are in a group and order 4 at a time! They walk back & forth carrying only one drink at a time therefore wasting steps, steps to & from the customers. They can't seem to keep what you order in their head for more than 2 minutes as they walk away and forget what you asked for weather it be food,drink or a check. Food is good in most respects but service is very lacking if they don't get it together soon business will slow down and customers will walk. This business is about customer service and people in this industry need to realize and the owner needs to understand he loses money every time a customer can not get another drink, more food or whatever their issues may be they need someone to look,listen and do!, I don't want to ramble but these bartenders look overwhelmed and stressed. The owner may have a hard time hiring staff but they need to step up or step out! Sorry to say but I won't be going back! read more

Still ok, but the place has declined from when it opened and is headed steadily toward ordinary. Served stale bread recently with a salad - the bread used to be great. My partner and I eat here every weekend and we LOVE the bar side of the pub. It's the best place to meet and have fun with the New Hope locals, which we are. We actually had reservations elsewhere last night, for a change, and decided, at the last minute, we'd rather go back to the pub for, like, the 10th week in a row, which we did. Never disappointed at this place. It is FUN! I know a lot of reviews point out the quiet dining room side, but I have to exhort the liveliness and great times we always have on the bar side. Yes, the volume is up there, but that's part of the great vibe of this place! Special shout outs to wait staff Shannon and Carla, and bartender Jamilla! Vicky and Charles at the front door couldn't be friendlier or more welcoming. These guys have an awesome staff, great service, great food, and a great sense of what people want. We had FRESH shrimp cocktail- the kind where your bite is clean not pully, the most ooey gooey melty Brie w/ tons of almonds (which to me signifys they don't chince-out), the most delicious veal chop- thick, juicy & covered w/ so much thick lump crab meat & perfectly cooked asparagus (great portion & better then most 5 Star restaurants) then a huge piece of bread pudding with Irish whiskey topping- unreal flavors. ..just unreal!! I could literally go back again today & do it all over My friend loved her flavorful mussels and lobster rolls. My husband and I had lunch here today with friends. It was our first time at the restaurant. I ordered a spinach salad with a crab cake. Being from Baltimore I always ask how the crab cakes are prepared. The waitress said there was very little filler and she was right. This was the best crab cake I've had in either NJ or PA. Went Friday night and was delighted with both the service and the food. The place is casual and we sat on the dining room side, not in the bar. The waiter was friendly knowledgeable and efficient. The food was excellent. I had french onion soup and it was delicious. The onions in the soup had been slow cooked until clear which gave the soup the natural onion flavor and color. For me, good onion soup is very hard to find and this was just like my mother makes. My sister had the pork chops which were tender, cook to perfection and delicious.
