The redheaded bartender
Paul R.

I just showed up on a Monday & it was the redheaded bartenders birthday. Loud? Beyond belief, throws her own party? Really? Everyone seems to know her. I guess William is the odd one out!

$19 for this? Embarrassing

No words. Place has gone so so so downhill. Wish they would sell and bring back what WAS the best bar in town. UPDATE TO OWNERS REPLY... The sandwich is $17 but please add on the appropriate required tax AND the 4% credit card surcharge the owner put in place. Hence the $19 comment I made. The picture I included was exactly the sandwich served from YOUR restaurant TONIGHT "Jimmy" (if that's your name). The same sandwich that I have had at this restaurant no less than 40 times BEFORE YOU decided to change the menu and cut down on the quality and quantity of the food because you have zero idea how to run a restaurant. Are you going to tell me that YOU have not made these changes?? You did not tell the chef to cut down on the quantity of food? You didn't raise prices on each menu item at the same time cutting back on quantity and quality? This restaurant USED to be a place of incredible food and service. The only good service and the ONLY reason you are still open is for the service and food Monday -Wednesday. Other than that, there is no reason to go there. Your arrogant and dismissive reply is another huge example of you having no clue what you are doing. It's unfortunate.

Where the locals hang out. The service is great and friendly, extensive menu that surpasses your usual pub, and comfortable accommodations.

We have visited several times and have always had a good meal. The bar area is busy and fun and the dining room is quiet and intimate.

I learned later that this restaurant has been around since the early to mid 1900's. Plenty of parking in a large open lot. The place is very large and has one of the longest bars I've seen. The wood is very dark and you can see the chefs cooking over the hearth. They don't take reservations and won't see you until your entire party is there. One of the things I liked for our party of 10 was they had no problems with seating as they also have many large round tables. For mixed drinks, they make them pretty big and potent. For my martini, they sent back an extra glass. They also had great bleu cheese stuffed olives. We ordered onion rings (8 large to an order) and fried zucchini. The onion ring I had was pretty good. I didn't have the fried zucchini but heard it was also pretty good. Other than the light fare items, all dinners come with their salad bar which has both iceberg lettuce and Caesar Salad along with many fixings as well as cheeses and bread. I had the Baked Seafood Platter which came with scallops, shrimp, Clam Casino (without the shell), Maryland crab cake and a small lobster tail for $49.99. My wife had the baked chicken breast which she said was quite dry. The dining area is quite large and reminds me of the restaurants at a casino. Some in our group said it reminds them of Medieval Times due to the dark wood vibe. While I thought it was a bit pricey, I would still come back and try their signature steaks or prime rib.

Therefore, I'm not going to say that Fran's in in the running for a Michelin star but as a pub, it certainly did the trick offering up robust sandwiches and a couple of cold ones - all without a single mention of being farm raised or ethically sourced. Four stars for not being in with the in crowd.

With just 1.27 square miles of land area, New Hope's primary industry is tourism. Year-round and especially on weekends, visitors clog the narrow sidewalks on Main Street, window-shopping or enjoying one of its numerous eateries. This was my first time back from an 11-year hiatus. My partner and I decided on a quick bite for lunch yesterday and chose Fran's Pub, known as Biker Central in the spring/summer on South Main Street. It offered multiple distinct dining areas to match one's mood, whether enjoying a family dinner on their semi-enclosed patio, playing pool in the pub bar, or people watching from the impressive large outdoor seating area with umbrellas or heaters. Greeted by the staff upon entering as first-timers, we sat in their semi-enclosed patio, whose doors that opened to the street had the nice warmth of the sun. With a five-page menu consisting of house-made or house-prepared dishes that cater to all appetites, we decided on a small Beef Vegetable soup (soup of the day), Hot Pastrami Pub sandwich, and Aioli Pesto Chicken sandwich. The sandwiches accompanied house-made Fried Potato Chips. Food was tasty and satisfied our stomachs. Service was fast, friendly, and our server was Melissa. Price was reasonable. We could recommend this place.
