Can't speak for the old incarnation which seemed to be a local favorite. This place is now called Ace Cafe, although our Algorithm overlords seem to have not gotten the memo. No matter... We were a bunch of out-of-towners with finicky kids in tow. Didn't want to deal with the parking shakedown in New Hope proper, so we chose this place on the basis of the food options and location. It was a later lunch so not crazy. Staff seemed like they were still finding their way. I get that. That said, the food was delish and fresh with nice portions. Someone had pasta, another a sandwich, two of us had salads. Kids had the usual chicken tenders and fries. Of course I love my children and had to thoroughly make sure the fries were safe to eat. 10-15 fries later, yeah they were. I even ordered my own fries. My youngest gave a thumbs up for the cake she had for dessert. It's a good spot. Convenient and satisfying. Also reasonably priced. Def a go-to next time we're in the area. read more

New The new owner has destroyed a once wonderful restaurant. The food, atmosphere, staff and setting were perfect.Not sure what he thinks he's doing trying to change it into a "biker bar" in an affluent area of PA. that probably has zero bikers. His final idiotic change was to fire (by text no less) one of the best bartenders I've ever come across in my seven decades of living. A bartender that could fill a bar to capacity on a Monday and Tuesday (which are traditionally the slowest days for a bar/restaurant) was fired by text after almost a decade of service. I live in NJ and visit friends in New Hope every six weeks or so. I would plan my visits so that I could go to the Pub on Tuesday just to see the bartender and the wonderful crowd that faithfully came in to see her. Now Ace Cafe this place is much better than previous. Much better crowd with much better local car club vibes. The service is always fast, kind and accurate compared to before. Food is delicious with great brunch on the weekends. To be completely fair this place did not "sell out" like some suggest they just changed their business model with a new and better brand. read more

Since new ownership took over appx a year ago, prices have gone up, food quality has gone down, and the main reason we no longer will go is a new 3.5 percent SURCHARGE for the use of a credit card. Restaurants have ALWAYS had credit card fees built into their menu prices. This is just an attempt to extort another 3.5 percent from their loyal consumers. This place is an absolute gem. I was first referred by family members to check out this place, to which my boyfriend and I decided to give it a try. Absolute 10/10 recommendation. The atmosphere has that nice pub atmosphere, the popcorn while you wait for food is brilliant & different, and there are tv's in all corners playing the most relevant sports (so my boyfriend doesn't mind date night during sports because he won't miss it! Haha.) It's never too loud, even when it's packed. The servers are very personable & helpful too, while the food is out of this world. I was pleasantly surprised with the adult grilled cheese--they took a dish that was so simplistic and gave it a twist that made it taste 5 star. We read the good reviews and saw the website pictures so we stopped by for dessert and drinks last night. We shared the warm apple crisp with a side of vanilla ice cream. It was served beautifully and it was delicious. I had the espresso martini which was fantastic and my girlfriend's jalapeno margarita was also terrific. All good things come to an end and Square One is no exception. It used to be a place where everyone knew your name. Where EVERYONE was WELCOME. That is no longer the case. I've been reluctant to try Square One because I hated the restaurant that was there previously. I didn't want to be disappointed by another Cafe Throw-up-a! After hearing from several friends that this place actually has good food, I figured I'd give it a try. I'm so glad I stopped in one night. You walk in and the smell of popcorn hits you in the nose. They serve hot, freshly popped popcorn in a basket when you sit down. Way better than peanuts! My first visit here I had the Fried Pickles - they use the the good deli kind you fish out of a barrel. They are thick cut. Served with a Yogurt Dill Sauce. I'm used to spears but these were good and definitely something I'll keep coming back for. Of course I had to try their French Onion Soup. Their F.O. was extra cheesy - it had some type of melted cheese, maybe Provolone or Gruyere - I can't really tell the difference when it's torched. THEN it was topped with grated Parmesan. Which I thought was a nice, salty touch. Great deal for only $6.00! I'm also a big fan of the Wedge when it comes to salads - so I had to try Square One's. Cold, crispy Iceberg lettuce - covered in Blue Cheese Dressing, topped with Bacon, Tomatoes and Cucumber slices. It's hard to mess this up. The Pasta Primavera was loaded with vegetables like spinach, artichokes, grape tomatoes and roasted red peppers - it was tossed in a white wine sauce and served over your choice of pasta (linguine or penne). I chose the linguine. Besides the good food, the service was awesome. I've been on a busy night and a not so busy afternoon - both times the service was quick and the staff was friendly. I've been there twice under the new Aces Cafe brand, both for lunch and dinner. Seems like the same good place, same layout with a refreshing facelift, and the same good menu with some new choices. The new staff were friendly and welcoming, plus they said Meagan's still there Wed-Fri. We dropped in for a late dinner last night and watched the baseball game. We've been going to this spot since it was a pizzeria and then over 3 different ownerships as Square One, and will continue to make it one of our regulars. read more

Ace Cafe USED to be Square One. Took my spouse out for a nice dinner but the pub had changed hands. His favorite dishes were gone. The place was understaffed - it took us 15 minutes to get our drinks, then we were brought the wrong ones. The mushroom gravy had no mushrooms. The corned beef sandwich - although tasty - was totally soggy with sauerkraut juice. Finally, although the age of the clientele was 40s-50s+, the rock music was so loud it made it difficult to talk. read more

We come to Square One Pub for the friendly atmosphere, awesome 80s and 90s music and the wait staff who, by and large, are funny, friendly and work hard. The food is very good and well priced. If you like the idea of eating at a friendly, neighborhood pub where the staff always seems happy to see you, this is the place for you. And if you don't fill up on tasty appetizers and entrees, the desserts are delicious and huge. We are here often and recommend it to everyone. Square One was our go-to spot for a good food, a great drink and friendly service from an incredible team who remembered you and your previous orders. Although the menu looked the same, nothing else compared. One waitress for the entire place who also doubled as a hostess. We ordered 4 burgers and a bottle of wine. After20 minutes 3 burgers came out- no one could explain the mistake ( or offer an apology). Finally after asking a few times, the waitress brought over the bottle and glasses and left - not realizing It needed to be Opened! We got her attention- she seemed surprised and took it back to the bar - where it sat for 5 minutes before we got up and asked the bartender to uncork it for us. Yes, they're new but doesn't seem to have an experienced professional working . People were getting up and leaving. A great neighborhood gathering place now a chain with out any charm or warmth. As for me, I ordered the Seafood Fra Diavolo, the homemade spicy Marinara sauce was just right to the taste. They should not call themselves a sports bar when they couldn't bring up a game for us. They only had the game on fox and couldn't get the password for the nfl ticket. My husband and I went last night for dinner. We happened upon it while headed to the diner. It was packed. I loved the high top chairs throughout the bar. And the food was excellent! We had entrees and apps. The bill was low, the waitress was lovely. We loved the popcorn starter. It was great! I didn't give it 5 stars because the table next to us was way too close, like 10" away. We found it hard to converse, and they didn't seem to talk much either. But the kicker was when the woman went out for a smoke. She came in, and I had to turn away from my meal. I would appreciate less tables. And having to wait 10 minutes more to eat than to smell a strange and not be able to chat. I would go back, but maybe ask for the corner table next time. read more

Been waiting for over a year for this place to open and it took me almost as long to get there, but I am so glad I did. Met a friend for lunch here the week before Christmas. Frazzled, busy and happy..... you know how it is. The bar was lively but there was also a dedicated casual Dining room for the ladies who lunch crowd( that's me) and was I happy to sink into a comfy booth and look over a lunch menu of classic and quite classy pub grub. I had the roast beef dip sandwich ( with horseradish sauce, of course) and there was no problem substituting a very generous fresh green salad for the french fries. I passed on the home made desserts, but had a cup of coffee. The coffee was great, so I bet the desserts are too. Next time :-) Vikki, the hostess could not have been friendlier or more helpful, and the wait staff was terrific too. It was a rainy day outside, but the cozy atmosphere and warm comfort food recharged my Holiday batteries big-time. I'll definitely be back, and not just for lunch. read more

We met friends there for dinner tonight and at at the beginning of the meal, our waiter accidentally dumped a tray with 4 full classes of water and two cokes directly onto our table. The waiter was mortified and very apologetic. We made light of the situation as to not make him feel bad and we understand that accidents happen. My pants were uncomfortably wet and my partner was absolutely drenched. We were moved to another table and had our dinner which was perfectly fine, however when the bill came, I was shocked to see that we were billed for everything we ordered. Management didn't even comp us a drink for our inconvenience and discomfort. A totally classless and inconsiderate move in my opinion. read more
