While in town for a friend's wedding, we wanted to do some exploring of what new Hope has to offer. Even though it was super rainy, we were able to find a bunch of cute stuff, including Fran's pub and pizzeria. This pizza was actually phenomenal. I'm an avid pizza Connoisseur, and this was seriously incredible. We also got some fried pickles and absolutely loved them. It was a very casual vibe with a really friendly service. Our server was kind, funny, and we made friends with her by the end of our experience there. There were a few bar crawls that had stormed through, and it was super fun people watching. With a weekend scrum of crawling, experience famished pedestrians, New Hope can be a very frustrating, uneven and overcrowded restaurant town... not to mention egregiously overpriced. Therefore, I'm not going to say that Fran's in in the running for a Michelin star but as a pub, it certainly did the trick offering up robust sandwiches and a couple of cold ones - all without a single mention of being farm raised or ethically sourced. It offered multiple distinct dining areas to match one's mood, whether enjoying a family dinner on their semi-enclosed patio, playing pool in the pub bar, or people watching from the impressive large outdoor seating area with umbrellas or heaters. Greeted by the staff upon entering as first-timers, we sat in their semi-enclosed patio, whose doors that opened to the street had the nice warmth of the sun. With a five-page menu consisting of house-made or house-prepared dishes that cater to all appetites, we decided on a small Beef Vegetable soup (soup of the day), Hot Pastrami Pub sandwich, and Aioli Pesto Chicken sandwich. The sandwiches accompanied house-made Fried Potato Chips. Food was tasty and satisfied our stomachs. Service was fast, friendly, and our server was Melissa. Price was reasonable. Drinks sucked and so did staff. We've been here twice, and both times bartenders were rude and condescending. Typical patronage is also rude to anyone coming in. If you're not a local & regular, spend your money at any other place here in New Hope. The crowd in there also was a dud every head turned once you walk in. Since discovering it in 2021 with a guy I was seeing/turned friend after he ended things I've tried to get back here as much as possible. It's not a bad drive from Long Island. For some people a two to three hour drive is a bit much, but I drive a lot and I'm fine with the drive. So I went back on September 4 with a bunch of friends. I've been here with people and I've come alone. I like doing both. Everyone picked Fran's Pub to eat in so once I parked my car in the usual lot I park in we walked over to the pub. It's an old school/local pub with a lot of seating. I chose to have the BLT. I'm doing slightly better with money now, not great but a little better because I got money refunded for a flight that I cancelled. But during this time I wasn't sure about the flight refund and I was pretty much almost broke. Technically with the amount of debt I have I am pretty broke no matter what until I work to pay it down. The BLT was good, a nice amount of bacon, lettuce, tomato and Mayo. I think the chips they served were homemade. They were amazing about letting us hang out at the pub for a few hours. There was a group of us so maybe because it was a sort of large order they didn't mind. My one friend didn't want to be outside much because it was brutally hot and my other friend has bad knees and doesn't want to walk around. So 3 out of 5 of us in the group stayed in the pub. My other friend and I walked out after leaving our share of money for what we ate to go to Terri's gifts because I like to stop there when I visit New Hope as well. Stopped by here while in New Hope this past weekend. I never tried this place so I wanted to check it out. The service was good... quick and friendly. To drink, I got a 'Not your Father's Root Beer' with a Vanilla Vodka shot. These are dangerous, it was SO good! It tasted exactly like a root beer float. My husband and I shared the 'Garlic Wings' which were amazing. They had some great crispiness and just overall good flavor. For our entrees, my husband got the 'Vermont' burger which was with cheddar, apple and maple mustard. He said it was a decent burger but overall, bland. I got the the 'Fiesta Taco Wrap' with grilled chicken, cheddar, romaine, hot peppers, tomatoes and avocado. There was nothing fiesta or taco about this. This was as bland as bland could be. I only tasted the avocado which I like avocado but they do not have much flavor. I had my husband try it and he did not like it at all, he agreed that there's no taste. The onion rings I got with it though were tasty. Overall, it was just okay. The drink and appetizer were great, otherwise not so much. I'd be back to have the appetizer, but otherwise... Fran's is a solid 3 star pub in New Hope. It's not the fanciest place but that's ok, it's not supposed to be. The beer is cold, there are plenty of specials, and the outdoor seating is plentiful. The fare is your typical pub fare - wraps, burgers, fried items, with some specials mixed in - Mexican specials on Thursdays, etc. the service is always fast and the food hot. We take our infant here and she sleeps while we eat! We've never had a bad meal here and like to come on the weekdays when it's quieter. The only downside is that one of the two outside bars attracts bikers that park their motorcycles right out front. They can sit for 5-10 minutes or more revving their engines and talking before rolling off in a blaze of dust. It's a bit of a pain when you're trying to have a nice meal and a conversation. read more

We came here on the 4th of July right before the firework show so it was pretty busy, but we got our food quickly. I ordered the hot pastrami sandwich and my boyfriend order the hot roast beef sandwich. I loved the pastrami. Beware though of the hot roast beef, they put ALOT of gravy on it, like way too much. We had to get another plate just so the sandwich wasn't drowning in it. The drinks were ok. The outside is nicely set up; the inside is just your typical bar/pub. Upgrading my review from several years ago. Had the opportunity to revisit Fran's today and add a star into my original review. Food was better. I had a chicken sandwich/panini and he had a cheese steak. We split some spinach artichoke dip that had me wishing we opted for the wings instead. More of a thick spinach paste. Lacking in flavor, texture and creaminess - but it was fresh. All in all I don't regret popping in to Frans and would have to say that it offers one of the largest outdoor dining in the town but probably will opt for another eatery next time in New Hope. read more

It was a nice afternoon so my wife and I decided to stop by for a little dinner. The food was pretty much still the same as my previous review. I am dropping the stars from 4 to 3 for one reason. The greeter seated us at a very small table that was kind of squeezed into a corner. I asked the greeter if we could move to one of the bigger picnic tables where we usually sit. She said she could not because of the serving configuration. We asked to have one of the portable heaters behind my wife's chair moved which the greeter did move, but it was still close and claustrophobic. We understand serving configuration. However, there was a couple just after us that were seated in the bigger picnic area that we requested. That does not make sense to me. In any case the atmosphere that we come for was compromised by the seating that we were assigned and then the server refused to change seats as requested. The bottom line is that we will probably come back but hope that next time the staff is more accommodating if we ask for something and really are hopeful of getting a better seat. read more

Terrible experience this afternoon at Fran's. There was -- apparently -- no server at all assigned to our table. When my wife eventually tracked someone down to wait on us, service was poor and the waiter gave us inaccurate information about the menu, which caused us order far more food than we needed for our table. My boyfriend and I walked past this place a few times and finally, we stopped by one Saturday afternoon. We were seated pretty immediately outdoors on a warm sunny day, felt like we were off to a great start! We got started with some apps - Buffalo wings. Underwhelming, honestly don't remember the taste, might I add that we got the apps a while 45 mins after being seated. I was absolutely heated at this point because I was starving and was served lackluster wings. Our food came and my boyfriend got a burger. It was like a cafeteria burger, not juicy, barely any flavor. I got the Frans chopped salad. Horrific! The chicken add on i asked for tasted like boiled chicken that's been shredded with literally NO seasonings. I was so disappointed, and it's been an hour at this point. I was starving and had to force myself to eat the rest of my meal. Why did it take over an hour for some salad? Couldn't tell ya! Overall, service was slow, food was underwhelming. I will say, if you want to sit down and aren't that hungry and don't care about the food, this might be a good place to just sit down and drink. First trip to New Hope since the pandemic re-opening. We decided to give Fran's a try. We had never tried this place before, very casual ambiance. Great place if you just want to hang by the bar area and knock down a few. I wasn't feeling too ambitious so I decided to keep it light. I had the Grilled balsamic chicken salad, and the boss ordered the blackened crab cake over a Caesar salad. Both salads were well prepared and the greens were crunchy and fresh. Our waitress Alicia was very courteous and pleasant to chat with. Face masks are a must if you decide to get up and walk around or visit the restrooms. Tables are spread out enough to maintain a good distance from other patrons. There was a decent lunch crowd, and I would think at night time they would be to whatever the new normal capacity is. I'm from NY but come here every year during the summer after tubing down the Delaware. New Hope is a quaint hippie motorcycle town. We discovered Frans about 5 years ago on a Tuesday when they have their all you can eat crab leg night. Since then we've been coming to new hope only on Tuesdays!! These are serious crab legs! Unlimited First plate comes with corn Last night they had Dungeness which was a treat and then snow crab legs followed which are thinner but longer and still delicious. Fried pickles were very salty, wings were very fatty and not crisp, chicken quesadilla was my favorite of the apps and came with very fresh, and very hot jalapenos. Came here the other day to walk around the town with my boyfriend. While we were walking around we ran into this restaurant offering takeout. We grabbed a classic pizza and a bottle of wine next door and ate it outback by the water. The pizza was made in a wood fire truck. Only downfall was that it was slightly over salted. Fran's is a great place for family and friends. The location, New Hope, PA is super friendly with lots to offer for such a quaint town. There are plenty of colorful characters to mingle with in the outdoor seating area. Also the area is very Biker-friendly amongst other pleasantries and you can park multiple motorcycles in a space and everyone feeds the meter. Service here is fast and friendly and the food is good. Visited Fran's pub on Sun which happened to be Halloween. The hostess directed me to sit anywhere I chose at outdoor tables and brought me a menu. My server Amy was friendly and professional . I chose an order of Buffalo wings and also fried pickles. I also ordered a Yuengling draft. Everything came out correctly. The wings were good. Also plenty of celery with the wings. The fried pickles were the best I ever had. They were spears instead of slices. They were perfectly crisp on the outside yet juicy on the inside. There is an indoor dining area too, if you would prefer. Everything was very clean and they had a pretty good menu to select from. I ended up getting a chicken wrap that was good but not amazing (worth finishing but would likely order something different next time). However the fries were stellar, which I didn't expect. As stated previously, the staff was great. They checked in without being annoying. The waiter had great suggestions and was very friendly, despite being fairly busy. The place looked pretty clean and they were polite when reminding other guests to wear their masks. I walked inside to go to the restroom and saw what appeared to be some regulars at the bar having a good time. This is a cute restaurant on the Main Street through New Hope. Lots of great people watching. The food, however leaves something to be desired. We started with the buffalo wings (extra blue cheese will cost you 50 cents). They were so fatty!!! I had to spit out most of them. The chicken salad sandwich was very dry and the bread a bit stale.
