Went on a Friday night for dinner with my husband and our friends. Place was packed, but thankfully, we had a reservation. We had Donna as our waitress- she was fantastic!! She just GETS IT, she's great. My friends husband is known to be picky and he LOVED Donna and everything about The Hawke. The drinks were PERFECTION and the food was also great. I ordered the seafood risotto special, it was delicious. My husband ordered the Chilean Sea Bass with Parmesan Risotto and it was okay which is why I gave it a 4 for food. The parmesan risotto didn't have much flavor, but everything else we ordered was great. Thank you, Donna!! Small negatives: On the pricier side, but for that area it's expected: party of four: 3 alcoholic drinks, 3 apps, 4 entrees, 3 desserts, 1 cappuccino - total was $440 including tip/$210 per couple. Also worth noting, they close at 9PM on Fridays and Saturdays- which is pretty early. I don't think they'll kick you out, but you also don't want to end your night THAT early. read more

We got the Chicken Parm Pizza for 2 without the hot honey pepperoni- SO GOOD. It is truly just a large chicken cutlet with sauce, cheese, and basil pesto- no bread crust at all. If they added spaghetti on top it would be the best food ever created on planet earth. I cannot get over how unremarkable and dull the food was for a place like this. Your protein is the only thing included with the meal. Very basic presentation of the beef and lamb, then you have to choose a side separately and pay extra. This just felt unacceptable for the price point. My cocktail, at $18, I couldn't even drink. First time here since it was the Inn at the Hawk ,a very long time ago. Came with some regular/VIP patrons. Place is totally different now. Awesome elegant vibe. Valet parking was great. Evening though space with tight, the valet took care of us promptly on entry and exit. Nice. Place was packed (SRO) when we arrived 20 minutes early for our reservation. Host warmly greeted the "regulars" of our party and guided us to a strategic position in the bar area to wait. His assistant promptly took our cocktail order and she delivered them in a very timely fashion considering the place was packed at the bar and all tables. Cocktails were on the mark. I had a perfect Manhattan, Michael had an old fashion and the ladies had one of the special cocktails. Festive stemware and fresh garnish. Ten or fifteen minutes later, we were sitted in a corner off the kitchen. The table next to us was a family with "very energetic" young children. thank God for the great cocktails and wine during dinner. While we were able to have a fun evening, the noise and comotion definitely killed the chill vib that we had experienced at the packed bar. (I would consider eating at the bar next time as I noticed the excellent service of the bar staff). Decent wine sellection and prices. We had a few bottles with dinner and they were served at appropriate temperatures. Appetizer came quickly, but entrees took a while and all were served luke warm at best. I suspect entrees were ready and waiting for the server but I could be wrong. Server was very nice to the VIPs in our party but not very attentive to the pace. First bottle of wine came after appetizers were already served. Subsequent wines came after entrees were served. In spite of the improper temperature of all entrees, they were very tasty. Wife and I came for our anniversary. They advertise complimentary valet but by 6:30 the lot was over loaded and cops had to be called. We started with sausage stuffed mushrooms. They were the perfect size appetizer for 2. My wife got the Chilean sea bass with risotto and thoroughly enjoyed it. I got the 10oz filet mignon served medium rare. It was a good size steak that melts in your mouth. I also got the loaded baked potato on the side. They put the cheese and bacon in the middle so it blends with the potato instead of just covering it. The Hawke was excellent! My family and I went for dinner on a Friday evening and had a great meal. For appetizers, we had the Thai chili, calamari, crispy, brussels sprouts, and truffle onion rings. All were great. I was very impressed with the truffle onion rings and crispy Brussel sprouts. I loved the bacon and Gorgonzola cheese that came with the brussels sprouts. For dinner we all went with either the Scottish salmon or the filet mignon sandwich, and all were great. Especially liked the mashed potatoes and baked potato. They were delicious. The ambience of the restaurant was very nice. They had a lively bar a nice outdoor patio that seem to be heated and two separate dining rooms. It is important to note however that it was pretty noisy and very dark inside. The service was very great. They were very communicative about any delays there might be. First let me say that this was the first time in a long time I've been there since New ownership and renovations. It looks GREAT. Went twice this week actually. First was for lunch with a cheese burger that cannot be beat. I would rate their burger 5 stars plus as it's a simple piece of meat without over doing any spice. Extremely juicy and a good size. Fresh oil (my peeve) was used for the fries - great! Dinner was OK, thus the 3-star overall rating. It should not be read as bad, it was good but not out of the park. The service was a solid 10. I ordered the veal Milanese which for my taste was pretty bland in the coating. It could use a little more bang in the coating. It was also a bit dry and the coating peeled off without much texture. However, the dinner guest that ordered the Chilean Sea Bass seemed to have a fabulous presentation and looked plentiful. The scallop special someone else ordered with risotto was a tad undercooked. The Hawke really hit the mark with great food, a comfortable vibe, and amazing service. We started with the ahi tuna bites and chicken wings, which were both full of flavor and really well done. For our mains, the filet sandwich was tender and satisfying, the tuna tacos were super fresh, and the truffle ravioli was rich without being too heavy. Dessert was a win too--we had the mini donuts and the apple cinnamon bread pudding, and both were totally worth it. Our server Donna was fantastic and made the whole experience even better. New owners still have a little work to do. Our server Nick was delightful! I had sea bas, which tasted good but did not have a good sear on the outside so was more mushy than I'd like. Sauce was good but there was too much of it. While accompanying Brussel sprouts and roasted potatoes tasted good, the sprouts soaked up too much oil and were greasy. My husband has the tuna. There was a lot of slaw and potatoes but the sauce was scarce. We'll try again but the quality has definitely dropped a bit. read more

We arrived with high hopes. The calamari appetizer came drowned in sauce. Mushroom raviolis were nice...the cream sauce itself was bland but raviolis were well seasoned. Surf n turf heavily salted and served more rare than ordered. Brussel sprouts were greasy and too salty as well. They asked about a special occasion and my husband said he was celebrating his birthday weekend, they didn't bother to add a candle to his dessert. I would like to go higher but I just can't. The server wrote nothing down when taking an order from 3 people 2 had special asks. This recipe for disaster did happen. The burger no pickle or onion came with pickle and onion. When I sent it back all they did was take the pickle off and remove the onions. I guess they thought I would not taste the onion that was there or not taste the pickle on the fries that touched the pickle, ie juice. My wife's salad had the wrong dressing, not a deal breaker. The server went outside 3 times to give a guy 3 beers, and refill a wine glass. We didn't get a how is everything, or a water refill. This was the second time my wife and I visited, and second impression was not impressive. House should realize that taking care of their man is vital, as he makes getting in-out easy and professional. Without the valet, no way would you ever find parking. We customers are happy that The Hawke provides this great service. This young man was a 100% professional and as important as the servers, host, bartenders we met last night. Sadly, our party arrived on a packed weekend nite -- the venue was understaffed and over-populated with guests. Even with a reservation, we waited 25 minutes to be seated, 60 minutes for the appetizers to be served, and 90 minutes for the entrees to arrived. While always polite, our server was overwhelmed with covering too many tables and our party had to wait for simple items like forks to be given. One meal was rated as superb, two meals were considered average and my meal was overcooked because it sat too long waiting for the other dishes to be complete. Management needs to cut back on the volume of available tables on busy evenings and decide whether it wants to be a quality restaurant or a hang-out tavern. We will not return there -- there are too many other good restaurants in the area to waste our time at the Hawke. read more

The place was very crowded....so much so that the valet had no more available spaces so we had to find our own parking spot a few blocks away. Service was slow. Major issue is that they offered a pork chop special but it never arrived after the 5 other guests had their main course. I was sitting there without my meal while the others enjoyed their entree. They said that they made a mistake and would start cooking my pork chop but it would take a while.....so I took whatever they could provide me quickly. Second time at the Hawke. Probably a lot of reviews here from folks that have coming to the Inn of the Hawke for 20 years (previous owner). This is a different restaurant/bar. That's not bad, but just worth saying up front. Had a burger the first time and second time I had bone in cowboy ribeye. Service both times was really great. Wait staff is top notch. Burger was good. This area still lacks an amazing hamburger, but that is for another time. The steak was amazing, cooked to perfection, cut like butter with a warm knife, and seasoned very well. Got a wedge salad. Very nice touch with warm bacon chunks.... Little things make the difference. Asparagus in my opinion should be finished on the grill or broiler for a crisp, the order here was not. That is my preference so not going to gig then for that. Great place, highly recommend, and awesome steaks. The best steak I had was from D'Floret in town but this is right up there. Do not compare this to Inn of the Hawke. Different experience, different food, and the only thing that is the same is the building. read more
