The one good thing that was good about this place was our server. We ordered the shrimp cocktail, cheese steak and fries and Fran's chopped salad with grilled chicken. My family and I have been coming here since kids were small 12 years and the photos to prove it. Went for our first evening ever. We get there, everyone was nice, we sat at our table, ordered the food, which included 2 pizzas. Then a few minutes later the waitress comes back and said, "the guy that makes the pizza left for the night and didn't tell anyone". I was confused because it was only 6:45pm. And the chef left without telling anyone. Never had that happen before, especially when there where a few hours left until closing. Not gonna knock the business because we love the place. Just think there should always be communication with waiting staff. Especially if it means that entire part of the kitchen is closed, but not scheduled to be. After visiting New Hope many times over the years, this was the first time I ever visited Fran's. In the summer the place is packed and a lot of bikers visit the place (not that that's necessarily bad, just not my crowd.) But we went there in January and it was one of the few places that had affordable food and looked like it was populated by locals, which is usually a good sign. We had a decent lunch and our server was very nice. The salad I had was nothing special, but the soup was OUTRAGEOUSLY good. It was supposed to be beef barley, but instead it had polish sausage, potatoes and zucchini. I didn't complain because it was so stinking GOOD! The dining room is in the front and has windows on 3 sides, so it's good for people watching. The bar is in the rear and the patio is open during warm weather and for special events. read more

Main Street in New Hope is known for its electic mix of shops, perfect for a stroll on a warm summer afternoon. There are a few restaurants scattered in and Fran's is among the biggest. Eight of us were grabbing an early dinner and there weren't too many places that could jam two tables together to accommodate, so off to Fran's. While the staff is helpful and friendly and the prices fair, the food could use a serious lift. Much of the menu is devoted to bar fare (fried bites, sandwiches, burgers) and pizzas. Growing up and living just outside NYC, you develop a discriminating taste for pizza. Fran's wasn't terrible, but wound up too doughy and swimming in grease. A southwest chicken wrap didn't fare much better, with grilled chicken paired with cold supermarket cheddar shreds, a bit of lettuce, avocado, and raw jalapeno slices. We came around 11:45am and it was pleasantly quite this Sunday. Everything was sanitized and while here different staff members of the staff were keeping things clean. Frans is the first restaurant I have ever been to in my life that charges you more for getting a double versus a single. My friend paid $10.50 for 2 singles rum and cokes. I paid $22 for 2 double rum and cokes. When I talked to the waiter about it he said it was just double the price of a single, which it was not (would be $21). When he returned with my bill the manager somehow tried to justify it by talking about the mixer. I went to two other bars right down the street the same night where the double was cheaper than just doubling the single price. Not a huge deal over $1 but I don't want to know what other shadey things they're doing with pricing. Won't be going back. read more

Extremely disappointed with the food and service. Ordered the nachos to start without olives because i'm allergic and they came out with olives on it. No problem, let the server know and he takes them back. They looked kinda okay but honestly the chips were greasy and soggy, like someone literally just microwaved them and as I was eating them and pulling them apart there was still olives underneath the layers of chips.. If you like local bars with character, solid food (grab a bar pie!), and a bit of personality this place is for you. The only thing we enjoyed more than the place itself was the people who run it. They have an outdoor bar. They're incredibly biker friendly. And the beer is great. It's an absolute must in New Hope, and the fact that it took me this long to give a review is a shame. After the bartender Brandon reached out allow me to teach you on simple bartending 101. 1 shot equals 2oz so 2×2=4oz. So one 2 Oz shot of Jamison and one 2oz. Shot of vanilla vodka plus a whole can of pbr coffee could not in itself fit in two 2oz. Shot glasses therefor overcharging a customer was committed. Secondly it doesn't matter if your friends were 80 percent of the bar every customer should be attended to. You don't know how to make drinks. You attitude reflects on your service. Although New Hope is a dog friendly town, dog lovers stay away from Frans's Pub. Instead, try John and Peter's Place a few steps away and who allow dogs on the premises. Our experience with Fran's over the years was dogs allowed on the premises. Currently our experience is Fran's pet policy changes from week to week. Back during the Shad Fest in April we arrived at Fran's with our small dog in tow only to be told no dogs allowed on the patio. Several weeks later we returned (without the dog) only to see dogs on the patio. Several weeks ago we were back at Fran's sitting at a table next to the outside bar and a patron had his dog laying down next to him at a bar stool. Other patrons came by and pet the dog in full view of the manager, the same manager who turned us away back in April. The same manager who had no problem with the dog there now and who subsequently engaged us in conversation about his two dogs he had at home. We returned to Fran's this past Monday with our dog and again we're told no dogs allowed. We were told this by the same manager who turned us away in April but who had within recent weeks no problem with the dog laying down at the outside bar. I recommend those venturing to New Hope with their dog that they not go to Frans, but instead go to John and Peter's Place that allow dogs. Oh, and their wings are better too. read more

I can't speak for anyone else but I thought this place was great. As one person said as they walked by, "this place has a great vibe". We showed up around 6:30pm on a Friday night. We got seated right away. My wife and I grabbed a table near the sidewalk. We told Jake, our server, that we were kid-less; so we were enjoying the night. Normally a server would get us a drink and disappear, but Jake constantly came back throughout the evening to see if we needed anything. He was always super polite and cheerful. We ordered some drinks, apps, and dinner. I got mozzarella sticks and a cheesesteak. Both were really good. Music was great; some nice 90's rock. We had a wonderful evening. We were a large group of women having lunch here prior to a show at the Bucks County playhouse. One of the women from our group was not served with everyone else. We told the waiter twice and twice we were told it be a minute. When we were all finished eating, the waiter brought her meal with curt, "Sorry about that". She asked that her meal be taken off the bill. This was denied by the waiter so she asked for the manager. She was hungry so she started eating and "Manager" stated can't take it off the bill cause you're eating it. She had to eat after everyone else had finished and no compensation was offered. I was in New Hope with my daughter and parents and we decided to stop here to eat. We sat down and were give our menus by a waitress. We waited about another 20 minutes before we were acknowledged again. The waitress that finally did acknowledge us was very apologetic. She claimed that there was a shift change and that was how the confusion happened, however the same waitress that handed us the menus and walked away was still there when the second waitress approached us. I've had better meals in high school cafeterias. I stopped by Fran's (http://www.franspub.com/) on July 4th for a burger and was very disappointed in the food and service, considering the positive reviews here. After a long drive from New Jersey, I was craving a cold drink and a juicy burger. I ordered a "New Orleans" burger served medium with bacon, hot peppers, and cayenne pepper.. what I received was an overcooked burger, with the consistency and taste of a hockey puck and served with with some cold french fries, wilted lettuce, bacon and mushrooms. I don't like mushrooms, so I picked them off, but I was really craving my hot peppers, some mustard, and a refill on my drink. I tried to flag down the waitress to complain but she had disappeared. When the waitress returned about 20 minutes later to drop off the check, I mentioned that I was disappointed because my burger hadn't been what I ordered, she replied, "Oh, sometimes that happens. Sorry." I try to be a low maintenance customer because I know serving is hard work -- but getting the correct order is a very basic expectation. That being said, as others have noted, it's a great place to toss back a few cold beers and watch the motorcycles go up and down Main Street -- but, on this particular Saturday afternoon, I noticed more polo shirt-clad yuppies drinking Landshark and Corona than leather-clad bikers beneath Fran's shaded tables. read more

I don't quite remember the interior's atmosphere because we were seated towards the front of the restaurant in a room full of wide windows. I do remember it was very empty albeit it being lunchtime. I did enjoy the food here. You will find your typical pub fare here. I personally ordered the macaroni and cheese and shared an order of buffalo wings with my boyfriend. Thought the mac and cheese was baked nicely on the skillet and the wings were nice and tender and oh so saucey (in the most perfect way possible). The only weird part about this dining experience was that they didn't provide us with real silverware. We had plastic forks and knives to work with. I can not say what food is like at Fran's, as I usually eat next door at the BBQ joint or somewhere else and end up here fro a drink. I love to come here and just spend a few hours talking smack about the people passing by or watching a game. My husband and I end up at the tiki looking bar on the outside most of the time instead of getting a table and there is always a lively crowd there taking shots or already fueled up on alcohol from a day in New Hope. The parking in this area is not terrible, and if not it is an easy walking distance from a few of the lots. The location is prime for bar hopping in the area and on a good day for getting a tan while you drink. Drink prices are about $5, but they are also pretty watered down, so make sure to order wisely.
