Came to NYC over President's Day Weekend and were looking for something to do inside as it was a bit chilly, this place had some great reviews so we decided to check it out and boy were we happy with our experience. The place is not too far from Time Square and upon entering one of the security guards let us know that we could save about $5 if we purchased our tickets online so we did just that. With fees it was about $86 for 2 adult tickets which is a little pricey in my opinion, however knowing you are in NYC you expect pricey, and the museum was really cool, interactive and fun, which made it worth it. They had free lockers with set your own combination locks which was a nice little touch. Then they gave us a bracelet to connect to the interactive exhibits and we watched the debriefing video while riding the elevator up before we started our mission. Your bracelet allows you to create a spy profile by taking you through a variety of questions, puzzles and activities that test your risk tolerance. There are also 4 sections of the museum that have some interesting spy, hacking and espionage exhibits and information, each with an interactive event to go through. My favorites were the surveillance room, and the laser tunnel. That one really makes you feel like a real spy. After you complete all the challenges, your profile and learn some interesting information they give you a spy profile and tell you what spy job you were most suited for which was fun. We were there about 2.5-3 hours, we had small waits and some of the parts, and for a little while the places to work on your personality and spy profile weren't working, but they got them back up in action relatively quickly. Expensive, but fun attraction in New York City. As others mentioned, it is an espionage museum with multiple interactive exhibits. There is also a gift shop and storage area for visitors. There is a significant amount of history along with entertaining portions such as a light button area. As of November 2022, there is a temporary Batman exhibition. It is highly enjoyable with multiple DC universe references. It does require cell phone use and logistics were slightly off after I completed it. (One room needed a reset for a group of visitors after me). Overall, it is worth visiting as long as you are aware of pricing and need for walking around. read more

Spyscape is a fun place if you're looking to do something a little different. This is not a place for young kids. It's basically a spy museum a with some interactive exhibits thrown in. Came here with a friend and we both enjoyed our visit. It took us a minute to figure out how to work the interactive bits but once we did it was a lot of fun. Amazing and fun experience' I'd recommend it! It fun for adult and kids. And it's not too pricey!

I went here with my sister after she won tickets to this attraction. I remember seeing it on the news one day a while back. The check in process was pretty fast since we were preregistered. Your ticket is an ID band that you use to activate activities and use for question stations where you are tested on risk, IQ and other factors. In case you do need to store your stuff away their "coat room" is a room of self store lockers with a built in punch code locker. You are guided into the elevator to the main floor of all the activities after watching a short video about espionage. I thought that it was cool based on your question results and the two activities (encoding messages, lie detector room and the laser wall) that they rate what type of spy you are. Although I had to admit some of the IQ questions were quite difficult to solve. It was neat to see some of the history, stories and some artifacts from real life cases that had happened, but if you are comparing it to the spy museum in DC, this one is more an interactive experience with activities than a full museum showing espionage. It would be neat if they did expand to show some more of that. I did think it was neat that the gift shop was separated in sections based on what type of spy you were. Overall it is probably a fun activities for kids. Best bet to go is probably earlier in the day if you don't want it to be too crowded. We went when it opened on a Sunday, so it wasn't too busy until when we were leaving. Is it fun? Yes, but buying tickets can be a little overpriced. Had a fun time in the main exhibit. Highly recommend! There are many scanning stations for the questionnaire things that you do and they are spread about upstairs. You don't do them all in one go. The laser room was the most fun part! The Batman part was very tedious and not as physically interactive. The idea behind the story and interactive phone portion was cool, but it was too slow and there was so much to read for such a short experience. We spent more time reading on our phones than on that exhibit. I do not recommend it unless you are a REALLY big Batman fan. Notes: Plenty of mid-sized lockers. Water is $1 a bottle. Bathrooms are down a long hallway that makes you look like you're in the wrong place. read more

My office is very close to Spyscape. When I saw an invite for a networking event here, I got very excited because I've wanted to visit since they opened. Upon entry, we were given a bracelet and created our spy profile. Since there were many of us that arrived at the same time, the informational kiosks were pretty backed up. Throughout the museum there are various tasks that need to be completed to help determine what type of spy you were. There are informational exhibits throughout. My favorite was the laser challenge! The surveillance challenge was pretty cool as well. This is definitely a 1 time only museum visit. I wouldn't be too excited to do the interactive parts of the museum on a second visit. read more

I took my aunt and her friends here for their weekend in the big apple and we had so much fun !! The staff made this experience memorable

This was such a fun experience! I purchased my tickets ahead of time and it was definitely worth it. When you arrive, you will be provided a bracelet at the front desk. You can tighten it but you can't loosen it up. You will need to scan your bracelet throughout the museum. Then you continue through to an elevator where someone will briefly explain the concept. Being an interactive museum, there are stations with numbers on them where you are able to do little challenges - quiz type things in different aspects of your personality and aptitude in various things. There are screens that are a bit lower for kids too. Don't take it too seriously though, it's all in good fun! Aside from the numbered stations, there are challenges that are more involved that test your abilities and aptitude towards other things as well - I'd elaborate but don't want to give it away! There are fewer of these in comparison to the numbered stations, but these are even more interactive. Once you make your way through - maybe 2 hours or so, you'll get an assessment at the end based on your performance on the challenges. A few tips: - you are allowed to wander the museum and go "backwards". You don't have to follow any order - bring a smaller bag/purse just so it doesn't get in the way. There will be a place to put your bag down in the challenges if you can't hold on to it (again, don't want to give anything away) - no trash cans inside Definitely check it out! read more

YES, there's an inner spy in everyone! This sleek and modern museum is so much fun even as an adult. The entrance is by no means cheap ($39 for adults, $32 for children), but out of all the museums that I've been to in NYC, this one is hands down the most interactive and engaging. Upon entrance each person receives their own digital wristband that you can scan at different stations for various spy challenges and questionnaires. Based on your answers and actions, you'll build your own personal spy profile, and at the end of your visit, you'll get a debriefing on what kind of spy role you'd be best suited for. The results are so much fun to read and even more fun to compare and see what other friends get (apparently there are 10 different roles you can get!). The museum is quite small and is essentially only on one floor, but my friends and I spent a solid 2 hours playing the activities and taking in all the fascinating accounts of recent and past espionage events. Unfortunately for me there isn't much of "revisitability" aspect to this museum due to its set-up, but I'm hoping Spyscape will introduce some new rotating exhibits to bring me back. If you're going for the 007 exhibit ... don't. As a massive fan, I was disappointed in what they had to offer. You spend more time walking down the hallways to each room than you do in the actual rooms. Save your money and go rent the movie, watch the movie credits... it's the same experience. I also purchased for the Spyscape exhibit... now, this was fun! Interactive and enjoyable! Completely informative and spent a good hour enjoying all the information! Although it's fun for kids, I think adult ages will get more out of it. So it's great for all ages. read more

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Spyscape. There are different levels of each game and information before was helpful. Our granddaughter had her birthday party there so they handle large groups well. We bought tickets for both sides of the museum but were unable to complete one side because of another appointment. We will just have to go back. There was only one complaint about the picture taking of your group. I don't think they really let you know when that will happen. I was left out of mine. Spyscape is a stupendous and interactive museum. I bought my tickets 3 months in advance because a place like this is constantly occupied, in turn this made my experience better and quicker. If you decide against this, you can buy tickets when you come. Adults are $39 and Children are $32. If these prices turn you off, don't let it. This is an amazing experience. Afterwards, you get an ID on your wrist (that you can keep as a souvenir) that is used at each checkpoint through the museum. Using your ID band on your wrist, you will scan it in the middle of the circular spots nexts to the checkpoints. There are 3 categories at each checkpoint including "Personality", "Risk" and I believe "Brain". I was so excited to go to each checkpoint and find out how they evaluated me so clearly. Amazingly, Skyscape connected with psychologists to make your experience as accurate as possible. My favorite point of the museum was "Deception". They taught you how to detect liars and how to become one as well. You'll love it! Towards the end you'll also get a debriefing of the whole experience and a title of what kind of spy you are, depending on your performance throughout. I hope you become a great spy! read more

The spy museum was such an amazing, fun and interesting experience! Both my son and I had a fantastic time! The museum is filled with information on historical spies, has displays featuring real spy gadgets, interactive question and answer kiosks to text your "inner spy," and the big hit that makes the museum so cool and fun are the interactive exhibits to test your surveillance skills, lie detecting abilities and speed to name a few. The laser game is a blast. At the end of the tour, all that information-gathering and Spy IQ testing are used to provide each person with an analysis and suitable spy job. Each person also gets a more detailed profile with all the scores and game results emailed to them. According to Spyscape, I am bright, but "no James Bond" due to my average level risk taking. This is true! My analytical skills make me most suitable as an intelligence analyst, while my son's higher risk taking and bravery make him a suitable Special Ops agent. Also not surprising, without glasses (which I rarely wear except for shows and driving), I basically failed the fun surveillance skill game; so wear glasses if you need them for distance. So much fun, and I would definitely recommend for anyone who is interested in learning and "discovering their inner spy" at this incredible museum. read more

Really fun on a rainy day! The experience took us a little under 2 hours, and it was time well spent! We accidentally wandered into the James Bond experience, & I'm glad we didn't pay extra for it- looked like a lot of movie clips. I stumbled upon this place on Thanksgiving by accident, and I must say that I was amazed. I now think of skyscrape as a large scavenger hunt, mixed with personality assessment. There are three types of questions: risk, personality, and brainpower. The Risk session help determine your appetite for risk, and Brainpower makes you solve these silly puzzles and lastly, you are asked a series of questions to determine your Spy Profile. There are 10 different profiles: Spymaster, Agent Handler, Special, Technical and Surveillance oops officer, Cryptologist, Spycatcher, Hacker, Intelligence Cooperative, Intelligence Analyst. This was sooo much fun! I went this weekend and had a blast. It's perfect to do with adults and with children. I went on a Saturday, and it was pretty packed. They had a special, buy 3 ticketS get the 4th one free. The space was beautiful and the interactive games were so much fun. They have something for 007, which includes martinis, but since i went with children we opted for general admission. They had a laser room, where we had to beat the clock, watch out for lasers, and get as many lights as possible. I had an absolute blast at this place, and i highly recommend this to everyone. High tech appearance with complimentary admission price but low tech exhibition. Underwhelming

Pretty cool museum/activity that's fairly new in the city. It's right next to Columbus circle and priced really high, the combo ticket with Bond experience costing almost $60, it is geared towards tourists. As it's new, it is really clean and built very well in my opinion. General admission go from $35-40 depending on the time of the day. Also, James Bond is separately over $20 a ticket but with the combo it saves about $10. Upon entering, they give a bracelet that is scannable at machines throughout the exhibits. The exhibits are divided into different sections depending on themes including laser activity that reminds me of the entrapment. Bond exhibition was a bit disappointing but still worth a visit. At the end, the computerized screen analyzes and determines what kind of spy role fits each individual based on the answers and activities performed. Definitely, a unique activity museum that is fun and cool to hang in the city. read more

This was a fun interactive attraction. The laser rooms were a blast that we went thru a few times competing with others. The wrist bands are neat because you can use them to activate things throughout the facility and it records your progress and achievements. However they can't be un-cinched so if you want to save one for a souvenir be mindful not to tighten it smaller than your wrist. To get the most out of the experience be prepared to spend some time, there are lots of mental activities that challenge your observation and pattern/code reading abilities. We were 2 couples over the age of 50 looking for something interesting/fun to do. The concept is clever. The museum component was as expected, depicting the history of code breakers, spies, modern day hackers. I can't say that l learned much as so many of these examples were covered in the news and/or have been made into movies. We took the Brain Quizzes on our phones rather than the screens scattered around the facility. There are simply not enough them for the number of people moving through the museum at one time. There is one challenge in each section. The 1st involves a decryption station. Each station should accommodate 6 people. Some ports were not working. Another challenge required you to put on a headset for surveillance. l believe there were only 12 headsets. Again, some didn't work at all, others intermittently adding to wait times. The staff were very nice, but l wish they had discouraged people from doing things as a group as only one person in the party gets the credit for the task. Not a big deal if you're not competing with each other, but it affects your profile assessment in the end. We didn't do the Batman Challenge but met a family that did. Their teenage son gave it a 7 on scale of 1-10. Overall, people seemed to like it. Tickets can be a bit pricey... I found a discount code online that saved us 20%. read more

Since we didn't know exactly what time we'd be arriving, we bought tickets online once already in the building; no issues finding an available time, as it was the middle of a weekday. Spyscape is not only a museum dedicated to the history of spies & espionage; a multitude of challenges, tests, puzzles, & games give you insight into yourself. Data about your personality & strengths are complied from your completed challenges to determine what type of spy you are (he got Spymaster, I got Special Ops Officer.) Hands-on activities include: a surveillance room, a lie detector test, personality/risk/IQ profile questions, decoding coded messages (which was a bit elementary, but fun, nonetheless), & everyone's favorite -- the laser beam room in which you use agility to avoid tripping the "alarm" a la Catherine Zeta Jones in "Entrapment" (minus the sexy skintight outfit...unless you always walk around New York wearing something like that...) Loved, loved, the Spyscape museum. Interesting, cool and interactive. Wish we had spent more time in this part of the museum instead of moving ahead to get to Batman. Me...I'm an agent handler. Fun you get a pencil or bracelet at the end, even though they ran out of the bracelet for my son who was disappointed. My family was not really a fan of Batman though. Too tedious, too much reading on your phone, not interactive and clear. Just not fun unless u are a huge Batman fan and have tons of time to sit there on your phone reading. I went to Spyscape because I wanted to see the 007 exhibit. I'm a James Bond fan. The exhibit was short. However, I was able to visit another exhibit at Spyscape. I saw the original James Bond car , movie clips , sketches of the James Bond Aston Martin car and video clips. It was short and sweet. However, I was longing for more. The other exhibit was about espionage, Spies, and Hackers. The souvenir department didn't impress me. I really wanted to make a purchase, but I saw nothing I desired. In any event , I got a good deal for the ticket on the Fever app. read more

Cute and interactive. Is it the longest exhibit experience? No. Is it this worth your time and money? I'd say this is adorable if you 1.) have kids, 2.) either you or your partner likes spy/espionage/James Bond/gadgets/tech themes, this is absolutely worth checking out. If you are bored by child-friendly interaction or not interested in looking at cool gadgets spies have used historically, there is unfortunately not much for you. The length, both in time and amount of content, is not particularly deep--however, the interactivity certainly makes this memorable. read more

My youngest was somewhat involved but after a while my wife, my older son and I were completely bored. Most of the things you'll be doing is reading. It is not as interactive as I thought it would be but it's a great place to learn about the history of spies. The staff members are extremely helpful.
