TONS of food on the family pack, and contrary to someone elses review, I think their fried green tomatoes are delicious! I get them every time, and have never been disappointed. We havent veered too far from the catfish, but everything that comes on the family pack is well worth the moneh & again, another score for us PVille folks! Is it pricey? Yes. I'd be leery of of cheap seafood.. But is it worth it, definitely. Is it Eddie V's? Hell no! Its called Springhill.. Its country as all get out inside, and its home cookin.. all that requires is nothing but a screamin belly. SH is sure to please, especially if you don't want to fry fish in your house for dinner. Catfish fillets are superb, the coating is cornmeal but not grainy or bland, its actually got a kick to it most nights. The hush puppies are nice and flavorful. The pintos are pintos- I sometimes sub them out, and the fries, well, Im not a HUGE fan of the fat stuffy fried fries, so I get a full order of fried green tomatoes, lots of ranch, and whatever other side the family is itchin for. All that for about $40 or less and I DONT have to do ANY of the work. AND we have Gods plenty of left overs for the week.... Sign me up! read more

You want the good news or the bad news? The good news is the Catfish is really good, the service is excellent, and even on crowded nights the wait isn't long. The bad news is that the prices are a bit high, even if the fried cat is some of the best in town. Not long ago, the prices were lower and I used to frequently head to Springhill for some catfish and col' beer. However, a recent menu adjustment has taken the $8 catfish platter (enough to fill the hungriest of hungry men), reduced the portion size by a piece or two, and raised the price by 2 or 3 dollars. If you don't mind paying a little more, then I recommend Springhill. It's a great family dining spot. There are all kinds of nick-nacks on the walls to present a fun and cozy atmosphere. Also, the waitstaff seems to pay extra attention to children, instead of acting like the youngest among us are an annoyance of the job. read more

Springhill is always a good spot when you are craving catfish. The family pack to go is a heck of a deal especially. Came out around $44 for 20 pieces of catfish and all the sides. Save the extra, throw it in the air fryer for about 4 minutes to reheat it and you have catfish for days. read more

Crazy to think that this place has been open since 1985 and it was my first time eating here!! I've passed by Spring Hill several times but never stopped in. Stupid me!!! I truly enjoyed my first visit. Everything we ordered was tasty, for starters we had generous orders of fried mushrooms, fried green tomatoes and onion rings. We should of stopped there but our eyes were hungrier than our stomachs and I had the 2 fish plate which they call small but was just right for me! My order came with hush puppies, beans and french fries. I substituted more fries for the coleslaw since I'm not a slaw fan and sure enough I had lots of fries. I had not been back to this restaurant in about 7 yrs. When I first went, everything was homemade and delicious. Now, the beans are the Campbell's Pork and Beans, not their delicious beans. The catfish filets were a nice size, now the filets are half the size. The plate I ordered was the 2 filets plate, plate came with a heaping helping of French fries (which were cold,) two small hush puppies, which were dry, the coleslaw looked homemade, beans were canned and the two filets on top. The catfish were good, but the sides were the disappointment. I tasted the gumbo and it was extremely salty, like the chef poured boxes of salt in it. read more

I don't think you'll get better than this for their prices. I had the fried catfish dinner and I was very pleased. It was fried golden brown and was seasoned well. I would have like it to be a little more crispy but I enjoyed it nonetheless. The fries were also good, crispy and tasty. Im not a big fan of pinto beans or coleslaw but I ate then here. The pinto beans had a much different taste than I'm use to which was a welcomed surprised. The coleslaw was pretty standard but when you do everything else right i think thats fine. Been there many times, albeit somewhat infrequently - it's a bit of a drive from Cedar Park, but when I MUST HAVE CATFISH (now!), we make the drive. There are other places closer to Cedar Park with catfish (and at least one IN Cedar Park), but when the fish is rubbery, undercooked, or oily, and just inconsistently edible, you just get tired of rolling the dice... I have never been disappointed at Springhill. We were ecstatic when they opened up a location in Cedar Park a few years back , but it apparently wasn't doing enough business to keep it open so it shut down after a while. Fish - excellent, consistently. Slightly spicy batter on it - always tastes fresh. When you can eat the fish without any condiments at all, and it tastes that good consistently, you know you've got some good fish. Wife enjoys the other shrimp/oyster plates they have, and says the gumbo is great. Sides are well...sides. Battered fries are ok, pinto beans are a bit mushy, and nothing special. Hush puppies are good. We've generally had good, quick, friendly service. It's not a fancy place, and yes, they don't have fancy tableware, but for some good catfish in a relaxed atmosphere with reasonable prices, we'll keep coming back. read more

My family and I ate here and my brother and I ordered a dozen grilled shrimp for.... $20????? at the end of the night our bill came out to $80 from two $20 plates of shrimp, a chicken fried steak, and a fish basket..... Which a fly flew into the gravy in the middle of the meal so it was unable to be finished. It had been years since we've eaten there, maybe like 10 years, but we were in the area and really wanted to sit down and eat like civilized people, and they were one of the few places open for dine in at the time. The food was great - specifically the catfish and shrimp! The okra was pretty good too. Since that initial return, we've gone back several times. It's not a fancy place by any means and the bathrooms could use some updating, but the food is really good and the servers are friendly and work hard. (We did notice one server who was busy fixing drinks and doing things with her mask on her chin. I'm sure she probably needed some air, but during this weird time she should probably keep it on, especially in a restaurant dealing with people and their food.) My mom loves catfish, so thought we'd try Springhill. I'm sorry, but it's not great catfish. I ordered the Seafood Feast. What I did like was the shrimp, coleslaw, and French fries. The oysters were horrible, bad tasting beans, catfish was mediocre, and the gumbo tasted more like chili. My mom ordered the catfish dinner and she also agreed that it was mediocre. The manager Cheryl is very unprofessional. they over charge on a to go order. Cheryl was not willing to make the adjustment correctly. The staff up front don't know how to run the front. The wait staff is fantastic but the food is sub par, pre prepared, over heated garbage that left me burned and unsatisfied.

A mixed bag at best.. First, the two good things -- the fried shrimp and the hush puppies were both good. Everything else? Meh at best. The onion rings had a good batter, but it didn't stick to the onions, leaving you with clumps of batter and pieces of sorta-cooked onions. My steak fingers were average, but Dairy Queen's are almost as good and about 2/3 the price. Overall, the food was adequate at best, tasting like decent frozen food. Now the especially bad parts. Part one, the service. It appears both from the slow service and overhearing the staff talking that our waitress was the only waitress for the entire restaurant, although there were a couple of other ladies helping with hostessing and clearing tables. This made for exceptionally slow service and long periods of unfilled iced tea (a personal pet peeve). Speaking of iced tea, it was some of the strongest, but worst tasting I've had in a while. Finally, the price was just not worth it. Assorted fried stuff (steak fingers, fried shrimp, chicken fried steak and appetizers for 3 people) for just over $50? Heck, it's neither hard nor expensive to fry well. Springhill felt like one of those places you'd stop at on a road trip -- the atmosphere and the menu look right, but the food and prices make you feel like you just left a tourist trap. I am not sure if the quality here has recently taken a nose-dive or if I've just been burned by them too often to continue giving them another chance. SERVICE- Service is slow...very slow! And the wait-staff is not very friendly. 3. FOOD- Food is mediocre, at best. Some of the menu items are just plain bad, like their gumbo... 4. STYROFOAM - everything they use is Styrofoam or plastic. No real cups, utensils, plates, bowls 5. FOOD-BORNE ILLNESS - The food here has made me sick TWICE! Let's just get this out of the way. I know my fried green tomatoes. I grew up one town over from the place the whole book/movie was based on (Irondale Cafe). Even dated a boy from there in my early teens. So I've eaten a mess of 'maters over the years and let me say this: These fried green tomatoes will not do. The batter is some icky flour based thing, not cornmeal, and they were floppy, greasy, and gross. I live about a mile away from Springhill now and a friend wanted to go out to lunch so I thought we could give them a try. We went on a Friday afternoon around lunchtime and it wasn't too crowded. Several blue collar worker guys and lots of talk about fishing and football. Fine with me. Not a fan of the ogling but whatever. The decor is an original and more authentic version of what the cracker barrel is aiming for - country barn with antiques. This is not a bad thing, it's charming and really fits in with the country catfish menu. We didn't want to do the buffet, didn't even go look at it we just weren't interested. So we ordered off the menu. The fried okra was pretty good. It's served as an appetizer and comes in a giant portion. And the gumbo was really tasty. I would absolutely order that again. My friend got fried fish and seemed pretty happy with it. One thing I remembered from reading Yelp reviews a while back was that this place was way too expensive to have plastic utensils. They're still pretty expensive, for what you get, but have upgraded to actual flatware. To make up for this they seem to have skimped on the quality of their styrofoam. Not that I'm a big fan of the styrofoam but somehow they've managed to find the weakest styrofoam products on the market. They serve the drinks in big styrofoam cups with no lids (? some weird no-lid trend I've run across in several local restaurants lately). While we were eating my friend reached for her drink and *put her thumb through the cup*. Chaos ensued. The table was drenched. My cute handsewn bag was be-coked. My friend was mortified. Mess cleared and we ate. I didn't finish my food and thought I'd take a chance that the okra would be ok later on and got a go box. They put my food in a styrofoam box and guess what happened? My thumb went right through the lid on my way to the parking lot. wtf? So it's ok. The waitress was nice and pretty helpful when the drink spilled. It was easy to split the check. But I probably won't go back I can get fried food like this at lots of other places. read more

My husband and I used to come here all of the time when we lived north. I loved it, very hole in the wall feel but cozy atmosphere. Great food and prices, I've had the catfish, chicken tenders and also the buffet. I was pleased each time! The servers here seem like they enjoy themselves and have good relationships. And, I have driven by this place thousands of times since living in Pflugerville, but that is another story. Upon entering, I encountered 3 musts in a restaurant which the aroma, the ambiance, and a friendly hostess. Oops, it's always good to see happy patrons leaving the building too. Our waitress then offered us seating and promptly took our order. My wife and I were on the same mission for once, and fried catfish and shrimp were ordered. After a casual 20 minutes, the meals arrived and we were pleasantly surprised by the amount of food served The first bite of the catfish was very pleasant, and the well-seasoned fish had an appropriate fish to crust ratio. Also, my wife likes a harder crust and they honored her request. The shrimp was delicious, and they were large and juicy morsels fried in a slightly sweetened flour batter. The cole slaw was creamy and appeared to have few chunks of pineapple in it. The pinto beans were flavorful followed by standard fries and spicy hush-puppies. Finally, the peach was really good and it too had some additional flavors that separated itself from other cobblers. Finally, Springhill Restaurant is a very solid restaurant offering fried seafood located on Pecan Street in Pflugerville. A casual...real casual place to eat. The food is pretty good. Chicken Fried Steak is large, Catfish and H pups are good to. But i have to agree with others that its way overpriced to be eating on disposable dinnerware. The wait staff has always been very friendly and attentive. Tina is the best. Ask for her. So as a casual, quick, close place to grab a bite, Springhill works. If your looking for anything more you'll be dissapointed. On a trip to Ikea my parents were craving shrimp. I had been to this place before and figured we would go again. This place was not busy at all. There were maybe 3 other couples in there restaurant. We were immediately seated. The waitress that took our order was friendly and very personable. She immediately took our drink order. That is when the great service stopped. She kept going outside to look at this dog someone had brought an was keeping it outside. The food took forever. When we got it, it was hot and well prepared. You would have thought it being so slow, the waitress would be more on top of things. She never came back to refill our drinks or to check on us. We had to flag her down. She even joked about her taking forever. She stated, "Yeah, 9 years later, you get your check." What floored me was she included gratuity on both my parents check and mine. I know sometimes restaurants will include gratuity for more than 6 people. I almost had her take the gratuity off the check so I could give her what she deserved which was nothing. There is a reason this place was that dead on a Saturday night. Service needs to seriously improve before i step back into this restaurant. Having put myself through grad school waiting tables I have certain rules when dining out. I never enter an establishment 30 minutes before they close (unless I am doing to go) and I tip 20% for good service. It was 8:33PM and I was pissy hungry. We had driven around for about 30 minutes looking for a place to eat and I decided to break my 30 minute rule. There were still 4 or 5 tables left so the guilt melted away. A young man seated us promptly and a tired, but polite girl greeted us and took our order. She (I wish I could remember her name) was all politeness and treated us like we were her first table. She accommodated my substitutions with a smile and efficiently served our courses without rushing. Our teas stayed full and her polite attitude remained the whole time. Had lunch at Springhill Restaurant with a friend/co-worker. This is a buffet style restaurant which isn't something I would typically choose but it was highly recommended by a few other co-workers. The buffet was what you would expect on a buffet...fried catfish, fried chicken, baked chicken, macaroni & cheese, green beans, a couple of different casseroles, bread and a few desserts including banana pudding. They had a salad bar but it was just iceburg lettuce, tomatoes and basic tossed salad ingredients. I tried the baked chicken and a few vegetables. I used to eat here pretty frequently. The food wasn't spectacular but the restaurant feel was very down-home and it was the closest place to get a decent chicken-fried steak with mashed potatoes, cream gravy, and fried okra. Service was always friendly and acceptable. Now I won't set foot in the place. Why? Because they entered into a contract to sell gift certificates on Restaurant.com and then refused to honor them. That makes them liars and guilty of deceptive business practices. Restaurant.com is a good website and I'd never had problems with any of the restaurants they partnered with until now. I bought 4 of the gift certificates only to discover a sign on Springhill's door stating "We will no longer honor gift certificates from Restaurant.com. Sorry for the inconvenience." I got a salad with popcorn shrimp and those popcorn shrimp were so big and juicy they were very good! The buffet was huge and had a lot of choices, but I wasn't hungry enough to order that.
