What followed was over a month of phone calls, emails, corporate case management, technical research, and repeating requests for documentation before I finally received a complete explanation of what had actually happened to my vehicle. The most frustrating part wasn't that my car needed repairs-- it was how difficult it was to obtain clear, consistent information. When I initially picked up my vehicle after paying a $234.95 diagnostic fee, I was told my compressor, clutch, and coil had failed. I repeatedly asked for the diagnostic measurements that supported this conclusion, including refrigerant readings, leak test results, voltage measurements, and technician findings. I was repeatedly told those readings did not exist or were "N/A." I also repeatedly asked whether any refrigerant leak had been identified. At no point during those early conversations with the service advisor, service director, or Honda corporate was I informed that the technician had identified a compressor shaft seal failure. Only after weeks of persistent follow-up, a corporate case, multiple written requests, and public reviews did I receive an explanation from the assistant manager that the compressor shaft seal had failed, allowing refrigerant and compressor oil to leak, ultimately contaminating and damaging the clutch and coil assembly. That explanation changed my understanding of the repair entirely. To the dealership's credit, assistant manager Joe eventually stepped in, reviewed the case personally, acknowledged that the shaft seal leak should have been communicated to me from the beginning, is currently working to refund my diagnostic fee, obtained Honda approval to cover the compressor, clutch, coil, labor, and refrigerant, and worked toward resolving the situation professionally. I genuinely appreciate his efforts. Unfortunately, my experience before that point was the opposite. I was left feeling dismissed when asking reasonable technical questions, specifically when dealing with the director Rick Tillotson. Calls were not returned as promised, which is what prompted me to start writing reviews, because that was the only way to get anyone's attention. At another point, I was initially told I could not retrieve my vehicle, only to have that position change after my husband became involved. Whether intentional or not, the difference in how those interactions felt is something I can't ignore, especially as a woman. I believe large corporations have a responsibility to examine the cultures and incentives they create. When communication repeatedly breaks down, customers receive inconsistent explanations, or people feel pressured into decisions they don't fully understand, those are often symptoms of larger organizational issues-- not just individual mistakes. Frontline employees, like service advisors, assistant managers, and technicians, shouldn't be expected to absorb the full weight of customer frustration if they're operating within a system they didn't design. Leadership and corporate levels should be just as accountable, if not more, for creating transparent, ethical customer experiences. This review is about a system that too often leaves customers at an information disadvantage. Most people are not automotive experts. They rely on dealerships to explain complex repairs honestly, completely, and in plain language. Customers should not have to become amateur mechanics, research service bulletins, contact corporate repeatedly, and escalate publicly simply to understand why they are being asked to spend thousands of dollars. For those interested, I've documented the full timeline, steps I took, and what I learned about protecting yourself during major car repairs below. Read more: https://qr.ae/pFoGFO

(one star as you can't have ZERO) The A/C was blowing warm air and the compressor was not running. Before bringing the vehicle in, I had already checked the A/C code (B1423) and believed the problem could be the pressure switch. I informed the service manager of the code and my suspicion when I dropped off the vehicle. I could not safely perform the work myself because the A/C lines are under pressure and I do not have the tools or equipment to recover and recharge the system properly. I was told the pressure switch was working, the compressor was fine, and that I should drive it for a week or two to help find a leak. That explanation did not make sense to me because the compressor was not running and the A/C did not work. They wanted me to pay over $300 for checking and refilling the A/C, which I refused because the issue had not been resolved and they had me waiting for 6 hours. I also asked to speak with the manager and the mechanic, but neither was available when the vehicle was returned to me. I was assured that the manager would call me the next day, but I never received a call. Before leaving, I check under the hood and noticed that a wire harness near the radiator fan had been left loose and the cover for the positive battery terminal had been left off. I took pictures and brought it to the service representative's attention before leaving. Ordering the A/C switch from Toyota would be over $300, but I was able to buy the same type of switch on Amazon for about $13. I later took the vehicle to Havertown Auto. Josh used the switch I had purchased, recharged the system, and the A/C started working properly. He also installed new tires while the vehicle was there. Everything was completed in about 2 hours. I was disappointed with the diagnostic work, communication, follow-up, and disrespect for my car and my time at Conicelli Toyota. As I said before, not going back again.

Once the deal was handled properly, everything suddenly became very simple. The car was delivered, the paperwork was completed in about 15 minutes, and the process was smooth and efficient. Which, frankly, makes it all the more obvious that the earlier chaos and shifting of the deal were completely unnecessary. I will give Ray credit for delivering the car after hours, although it is hard to ignore that he was also the one who changed the trajectory of the deal in the first place. Ultimately, Rob's involvement changed the outcome for the better. I appreciate that he stepped in and made sure the dealership followed through. It was a good resolution, even if it took far more effort than it ever should have.

It wasn't long before more issues started. I think we may have been victims to false advertising. The POS car is a hybrid and there's no mention of this in the owners manual. It burns both oil & gas. We've spent countless time and money with all these "tests" they make us, the consumer, run. The first "service manager" we dealt with was actually fired....seems like they may need to cut several more folks loose. The battery that came with the car was about 2.3 years old when it failed, which is unacceptable for a new car. So, in my opinion, the battery was a "no-frills" battery. I chose not to purchase another "no-frills" battery through Mitsubishi, particularly since they do not offer a longer warranty than two years, which is ridiculous. The service department suggested that I have the car towed to them so they can install their "no frills" brand of battery. I chose to purchase an AMD battery from AutoZone with a 4-year warranty from AutoZone. Oh, the other suggestion was to purchase a device I plug into my garage to help maintain the battery. Say what?! Oh, and drive the car more so the battery connects to the alternator for longer periods. Huh?! At the same time, the service person said I needed new back brakes. The car had only 14,000 miles on it, and I am not a hard driver. My male friend suggested that I take the car to another shop to get the brakes tested, so I did. The female auto mechanic (Girls Auto Clinic in Upper Darby) showed me that I would not need brakes for another 4-5 months. If I needed brakes by June, the car would not pass the State inspection, and I'll get brakes then. It was not an emergency or need for brakes, as the Mitsubishi Service Department had stated. The expense would have been about $600 out of pocket for brakes I did not need if I had not checked with another shop. During such difficult financial times, the Mitsubishi Springfield service department should not coerce customers (women) into receiving services they do not need, meaning lying about the condition of my back brakes, nor suggest that I tow the car to Mitsubishi to get a battery that is only guaranteed to perform for 24 months. So people are expected to replace a battery every 24 months; really?! I think not! So, in general, these auto manufacturers are building cars like the telecommunications industry builds cell phones, which is to fail within two years of purchase. It's no wonder we see so many newer cars being resold when they become too expensive to maintain, so people just walk away from them. I will never purchase another Mitsubishi vehicle, nor will I recommend this brand to anyone.

As far as the rest of the experience, read below. I copied and am pasting the exact email I sent to the GM, Mr. Bob Benedetti, who thought so little of it (or me) that he didn't bother to respond. As written in the email, I tried to avoid making this a public issue, but since he didn't respond in almost a month, clearly he doesn't care. This review is titled: "DON'T LEAVE YOUR VALUABLES IN THE CAR"! "Mr. Benedetti, On December 30, 2017, I leased a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee from your dealership from (name redacted). While I am very happy with my vehicle and the final terms we negotiated, there are a couple of things that I feel need to be brought to your attention. (1) On a referral from your service department, I visited Mr. XXXX in your showroom about leasing a new vehicle. At that meeting, I informed Mr. XXXX that I had a brother-in-law who is a GM at another Jeep dealer in North Jersey, but to avoid traveling up there, I would give him the business if we could agree on acceptable terms, and I gave him all the information he needed to give me accurate numbers (credit, current lease figures, etc) After consulting with his sales manager, we agreed on a lease payment of approximately $550 for 36 months. Despite our agreement, on the day before i was scheduled to sign, I was told (assumingly at the behest of his manager) that I'd be paying $550 for 42 months. After strong resistance, the terms were then reverted back to the original numbers. I thought it was wrong of them to attempt to "bait and switch" me, but because of the convenient location and the fact that I ultimately got what I wanted, I proceeded with the transaction anyway. (2) This is my real issue. Days after turning in my previous vehicle, I discovered that I left a pair of Maui Jim's sunglasses in that car. I contacted Mr. XXXX on Sunday, January 7th and informed him on my discovery, and that I would be going to the car to retrieve them, since I still had access to it through UConnect. Mr. XXXX granted me permission to do so. After searching the car, including the compartment where I'd left them, I again contacted Mr. XXXX, and requested his help in locating them. After a couple of days without a response from Mr. XXXX, I told him that if those sunglasses didn't show up, that it would become an issue. Because of this ultimatum, Mr. XXXX responded and told me that the glasses were found outside of the car the day I turned it in (almost a week prior) and that the manager who found them was out of the office until the next day. The next day, I came to the dealership and spoke to this manager (I don't know his name, but I assume Mr. XXXX reports to him) and he told me I'd have my sunglasses in the morning because they were on his "kitchen counter". Why would my sunglasses be in his house?? To my surprise, he went on to tell me how much he loved Maui Jim's sunglasses! Unbelievable. I did receive my sunglasses the next morning, but my question is why nobody called to inform me once they found the sunglasses until a week later, and only then because I made an issue of it. I'm sure, with your company dealing with trade-ins on a daily basis, that you see people regularly forget items in their cars. Secondly, is it your company's policy for your employees to take people's missing property to their homes?? I wanted to voice my displeasure, but thought it was better for me to address you directly and privately, rather than on Yelp or a Jeep survey because doing so could damage your company, and particularly those within your dealership who try to do things the right way. I'm sorry for the long email, but I need to articulate everything I needed to say. I hope this letter causes positive change within your organization." Draw your own conclusions...
