I contacted this company based on a business card provided by a trusted local nonprofit. The card advertised a flat rate for data recovery which is why I refused the other quote I had that was three times higher. Despite that, the business refused to honor the price because it was 'over a year old'. They then also refused to even take the job because I was frustrated over their false advertising. In addition, their listing on Google states "From the owner: Offering flat rate recovery with a 48 hour turnaround". So this company, who wants customers to trust them with private data, doesn't even update their Google listing for over a year. Finally, after I offered to meet in the middle at a higher price, I was still told to take my business elsewhere. They also told me that even if they did quote a flat rate that they would just tell the customer their data wasn't recoverable instead of taking the loss on that item. In other words, they are more than willing to waste a customer's time - and increase their frustration in an already stressful situation - rather than just run an honest business. Yeah, in the end, I am likely to pay more than that advertised flat rate, but if this company has just not done a bait & switch, I would have had my data by now instead of wasting yet another week trying to get local support. read more

I sent him my non-spinning external hard drive that was caused by a power outage and he sent it back by saying the "the disk spins now but the heads are damaged and I can't do anything about it. You need to send it to a lab and may be they could do a miracle for you because all of your data are most likely gone". I sent it to another shop and he said the previous shop must've stuck it against a hard surface to release the stuck heads because the corner of the hard drive shows sign of damage. I asked him if he stuck the disk against a hard surface to get to spin and he said, "we would never attempt to try to knock the heads loos because doing it nearly guarantees the data becomes unrecoverable". I believe he did just that that 's why he knew it needed a miracle to recover any data from it. EDIT: I never asked him to fix it for free, he's lying right now. The other computer shop said that this springfield is not able to fix very much and sends him drives for repair. My drive went out during a power outage which is very common and it's estimated $400 to fix. It was not "in a very bad shape" If you value your hard drive don't send it to this guy, if he can't fix it by banging it against a hard surface, he'll either return it or sends it to another shop. After I told him my drive has hit a hard surface, he threaten me with his lawyer and stopped responding.
