Specifically I was trying to burn a few CD's for my American mom, and the burns failed, so now I have a bunch of coasters! Mom thinks the software had some kind of encryption parameter switched on, or perhaps the music I have is copyright-protected with a DRM, but I told her that it's actually a hardware failure! When I called, Mike answered the phone, and he seems like quite a sweet guy! I explained my situation to him, and he informed me of the possibility that I may need new DVD/CD Rom drives. He says that when it comes to reading and writing CD's and DVD's, drives and burners can fail after a short amount of time, as these machines aren't built to last like they used to be! Fast forward to this afternoon. I went to Eugene Computers with my provider, Karry, and they actually had the right kind of DVD/CD Rom drives for me! And better yet, they let me recycle the old ones that I brought in! I brought the new ones home, and by the way they're brand new and sealed, for which I paid $37.00 a piece (not a bad price at all!), and when I opened them up and plugged them into my machines, they actually work wonders! I recommend Eugene Computers to anyone who needs new replacement parts and even computer repairs. You guys are the best! You deserve 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 stars from me!

We had specifications that were given to us by our computer NERD'S....My husband purchased a DeLL tower, with the belief that the staff who sold this tower did so in good faith & Windows 11 compatibility. Came home, plugged it in, no internet connection, Bill called PC & Mac Solutions & they told him bring it back they would fix the issue...Home again plugged it in & still no connection to internet, called again..Bill said he wasn't happy & wanted his money back & the staff said that's not possible..in store credit only!!! We were given a name of another computer designer (John Cook) he was our HERO..he made this horrible fiasco with PC & Mac Solutions better! He KNEW what we needed & provided the service with a functional PC Tower...He also mentioned that the specifications we asked for weren't there w/PC Solutions Dell Tower. PLUS the tower wasn't cleared/cleaned of information from a previous owner!!WHAT???? WARNING...BE SURE YOU READ SIGNS (if they are placed in the store so they are visible) & ask questions-questions so you don't end up like we did! Feeling like we were taken advantage of!!! We aren't computer techies & we won't or need anything so their IN STORE CREDIT of $475 is in their favor surely NOT OURS! A business without integrity is definitely not a business we care to support or refer others to!

Next day they tell me my charger was broken not the laptop, and that they are charging a 95$ fee for looking at it which was never expressed to me when I brought it in and asked for the pricing. Keep in mind they did no repairs on it at all. When I confronted them about it they directed me to a small discretely placed sign where their 95$ diagnostics fee policy was outlined, which I obviously didn't see and was not told about when I asked for the price. I turned to Google and asked ChatGPT, which informed me that five of the world's largest data recovery companies were based in the U.S. Excited, I spent hours scouring Google and Yelp reviews. Many reviews praised successful data recoveries, which gave me hope. However, I soon realized I couldn't bring myself to choose any of these major companies, and here's why: 1. All five companies had an overwhelming number of horrific, unimaginable negative reviews. Dishonesty, lies, scams, immorality, and a lack of conscience were recurring themes and conclusions in these reviews. After reading them, I felt not only disappointed but also baffled at how they could treat struggling customers this way. The contents of those reviews lingered in my mind, making it impossible to entrust my data to any of them. 2. Even if I took my hard drive to a local office of one of these five companies, I wouldn't know which engineer would handle my case--it was a matter of luck. Reviews made it clear that the success or failure of data recovery hinged on who took on the job, leaving it entirely up to chance. I also learned that the skill level of engineers varied drastically depending on the location of the office. It was a gamble. 3. The pricing for data recovery at these five companies was, in a word, astronomical. They seemed to charge whatever they felt like. 4. I discovered that the photos on all five companies' websites--showing engineers in cleanrooms wearing dust-proof suits and hats--were largely misleading. From what I learned, less than 10% of cases actually required such facilities or attire. It felt like a setup to justify their exorbitant fees, and when combined with the awful reviews, I couldn't connect with the business mindset or spirit of these companies. 5. Through my research and ChatGPT, I learned that data recovery requires specialized equipment beyond simple software--sophisticated tools that demand skilled handling. Ultimately, the engineer's expertise and experience were the keys to recovering my data and determining its fate. But I had no way of knowing which engineer would take my case or whether they'd have the time and dedication to try multiple approaches for success. I resumed my search and, thankfully, stumbled upon Springfield Data Recovery. From our first phone call, I felt a sense of calm and confidence that my data could be recovered, so I sent my hard drive to them that same day without hesitation. A few days later, I received an email saying they'd soon start working on my case, acknowledging how precious my data was to me and promising to do their best. Two days after that, they emailed again, explaining that my hard drive was particularly challenging to recover but that they'd exhaust every possible method to achieve a full recovery. I felt disappointed and anxious knowing my case was difficult, but I took comfort in their commitment to try their hardest and waited. A few days later, I received the joyful news that they'd succeeded. They provided a link where I could see my recovered folders and files--everything I'd longed to see again. I checked them one by one. The price was excellent, reasonable, and honest. After paying with my credit card, they said the final work would be completed in 2-4 days and shipped to me on a new external hard drive. But the very next morning, I got the happy news that they'd already finished everything successfully. At this moment, with my precious data back in my hands, I want to share that my choice was a great one. Here's why: 1. I learned that Springfield Data Recovery assigned a small, skilled team of engineers to take full responsibility for my case. It wasn't a random draw where I'd have no idea who was handling it; a prepared team worked together to recover my data. The pricing was excellent, reasonable, and left me feeling good about the experience. 2. Unlike the top five U.S. companies, which never mentioned it on their websites, Springfield Data Recovery had been using world-renowned data recovery equipment for 7-8 years, achieving successful recoveries with it. Their highly skilled handling of this equipment led to my success, and they openly featured it on their website. When I checked with ChatGPT, it confirmed that none of the top five companies mentioned this equipment on their sites or indicated whether they used it. 3. My case was particularly difficult. When they informed me of this, I pleaded earnestly for them to recover my data. Springfield Data Recovery responded by maximizing their efforts, attempting multiple approaches, and dedicating days to the task with every tool and method at their disposal. They succeeded because they empathized with how important my data was to me.

I could start with the incredible amount of professionalism I received when recently dealing with a perplexing (frustrating) situation. I had an important & relatively high end piece of hardware start to abruptly fail. No bueno, because it's essential part of my work. I had originally thought that my issue would be rectified by a quick repair and was going to be relatively cheap... but it turned out to be a headache. One component failure led to another and sooner than I thought I was at a dead end. Enter Adept Computer Services. From the second I met the owner / lead tech I knew that I had come to the right place. Let's call him "Jake". Though the shop was tucked away off Polk, I could tell the company meant business based off the amount of rigs currently being serviced in the shop. Jake's attitude was extremely professional and personable. Plus, he had a dog. He listened to my issues, formulated a repair strategy, and set a realistic expectation on the possible complications and resolutions. We did indeed have a few complications along the way (originally thought it was related to motherboard, ended up being the processor), and through it all Jake was steadfast in updating me and keeping me in loop. After the whole ordeal he even offered me a generous discount for the longer-than-expected finish date. I couldn't be happier with the outcome and the service (or price for that matter). I rarely rate anything with five stars, but "Jake" and Adept Computers truly deserve it. Absolutely outstanding technical skill and service to match. Whether you're a small business or an average consumer, I would 100% recommend Adept Computers for any of your IT needs. I say that with the utmost confidence. Do yourself a favor when you're in need and give them a call. You'll be happy with the results. 5 stars.

After Adept saved me for the fourth time*, I figured a 5-star review was the least I could do for…read morethem. We've all been there: over-worked, under-motivated, out-computered. Am I right? Last week I experienced my official, THIRD, mechanical hard drive failure. There's nothing in this world that makes my voice quiver, reduces my knees to jell-o, and causes me to break out in a cold sweat quite like the death rattle of my insufficiently backed-up hard drive. I think this fear stems from the loss of my undergraduate thesis many moons ago. As an undergraduate, a failed hard disk meant re-typing hundreds of pages in the Oregon State computer lab in the basement of Kidder. No Adept for me at that time! But now, with the comforts of a disposable income and the knowledge that data retrieval is imminently possible, I find refuge in the services of Adept Computing. In two out of three attempts, my data were safely transferred to a new hard drive for a reasonable price between $100 - $150. All three times, Adept has been available, competent, fair, and timely with their services. Unfortunately for me, on this most recent occasion, the data from an external hard drive were not able to be salvaged by Adept. This meant I had to ship my paper weight off to Tennessee for dismemberment in a "clean room," with hopes that for a higher price ($700 - $2000) the data can be recovered. Gulp. So the moral of this story is two-fold: (1) I apparently break computers more than the average Jane and need to find a place for secure and confidential home backups (anyone have any suggestions?) (2) Adept is quite facile at solving nearly all computer gaffs quickly and for a good price. They are a great "plan B" for those of us who find ourselves in situations where we are outmatched by our machines. *For interested readers concerned about what the fourth "save" was, it included a re-formatting of an old hard drive for use on a new machine.
