What can I say that properly conveys my level of satisfaction and gratitude for this local IT business? I could start with the incredible amount of professionalism I received when recently dealing with a perplexing (frustrating) situation. I had an important & relatively high end piece of hardware start to abruptly fail. No bueno, because it's essential part of my work. I had originally thought that my issue would be rectified by a quick repair and was going to be relatively cheap... but it turned out to be a headache. One component failure led to another and sooner than I thought I was at a dead end. Enter Adept Computer Services. From the second I met the owner / lead tech I knew that I had come to the right place. Let's call him "Jake". Though the shop was tucked away off Polk, I could tell the company meant business based off the amount of rigs currently being serviced in the shop. Jake's attitude was extremely professional and personable. Plus, he had a dog. He listened to my issues, formulated a repair strategy, and set a realistic expectation on the possible complications and resolutions. We did indeed have a few complications along the way (originally thought it was related to motherboard, ended up being the processor), and through it all Jake was steadfast in updating me and keeping me in loop. After the whole ordeal he even offered me a generous discount for the longer-than-expected finish date. I couldn't be happier with the outcome and the service (or price for that matter). I rarely rate anything with five stars, but "Jake" and Adept Computers truly deserve it. Absolutely outstanding technical skill and service to match. After Adept saved me for the fourth time*, I figured a 5-star review was the least I could do for them. We've all been there: over-worked, under-motivated, out-computered. Am I right? Last week I experienced my official, THIRD, mechanical hard drive failure. There's nothing in this world that makes my voice quiver, reduces my knees to jell-o, and causes me to break out in a cold sweat quite like the death rattle of my insufficiently backed-up hard drive. I think this fear stems from the loss of my undergraduate thesis many moons ago. As an undergraduate, a failed hard disk meant re-typing hundreds of pages in the Oregon State computer lab in the basement of Kidder. No Adept for me at that time! But now, with the comforts of a disposable income and the knowledge that data retrieval is imminently possible, I find refuge in the services of Adept Computing. In two out of three attempts, my data were safely transferred to a new hard drive for a reasonable price between $100 - $150. All three times, Adept has been available, competent, fair, and timely with their services. Unfortunately for me, on this most recent occasion, the data from an external hard drive were not able to be salvaged by Adept. This meant I had to ship my paper weight off to Tennessee for dismemberment in a "clean room," with hopes that for a higher price ($700 - $2000) the data can be recovered. Gulp. So the moral of this story is two-fold: (1) I apparently break computers more than the average Jane and need to find a place for secure and confidential home backups (anyone have any suggestions?) (2) Adept is quite facile at solving nearly all computer gaffs quickly and for a good price. They are a great "plan B" for those of us who find ourselves in situations where we are outmatched by our machines. *For interested readers concerned about what the fourth "save" was, it included a re-formatting of an old hard drive for use on a new machine. read more

Adept Computer Services accepted my laptop on Wednesday (24/2/16). The screen stopped working and I told then I had a sinking suspicion that it might not be hardware. I told then that when the screen was somewhat functional, but it flickered on and off. When the screen wasn't flickering as much, it'd only flicker on certain programs. Never would it flicker when I had explorer in the foreground. The issue got worse every time I rebooted the computer to the point it'd flicker whenever it was on to the point it would be mostly blank with the occasional flash of the screen. I asked if they had any screens lying around that they could quickly replace, and they said after looking up the screen, they do not. Well okay, I asked them if they could test if it is my screen that is the issue? I asked. They can only test the screen by bypassing the screen completely by plugging the laptop into an external HDMI monitor. I said I have already tried this method and it works well. I thought at least they would be able to test the screen on another laptop. Then I asked for a quote when it will be done and they said Friday (26/2/16) at the earliest. This, unfortunately was not the case as the screen that came in Friday, was not able to be diagnosed until Monday as DOA. They sent the screen back, free of charge. Let's start off by saying that it's taken me almost a year to leave this review. Am a new resident and during the upheaval of moving, somewhere in the midst of the chaos my PC broke down. Complete and utter meltdown, would not boot up, decided it had enough of my daily gaming abuse. Well, fine! After seeking help from not one but TWO local services that for whatever reasons did not return my call, I happened upon a tucked away business called Adept Computer Services. Hopeful, but cautious, I was able to speak to an ACTUAL person over the phone and hooray, they confirmed that they could and would gladly resurrect my PC! By this point, I was experiencing a serious case of damsel in computer-withdrawel distress, and would have gladly logged into Yelp and left a glowing review right on the spot. Here are the deets: - My service order was taken on 5-21-15. This is the point at which I physically brought my computer into the shop. Prior to the visit, we arranged that I was to produce my Windows code, and any pertinent login information. - Over the course of the next week, the shop owner was in touch with me via morning phone calls, which I sleepily accepted. Can I petition that 10am become the new 6am? More login/pw's were needed as he offered to reinstall my Steam and Blizzard games. What a nicey! - The call came and I was to pick up my now fully functional system on 5-29-15. The issue, in case anyone is wondering, was a bust hard drive which they replaced, which in turn meant everything from operating system to hardware to software was re-uploaded, updated, bench marked, etc. Upon arrival for the pick-up, I had the pleasure of meeting the owner. A passionate young man, supported by a knowledgeable team of employees/peers leaving me with the experience that everyone hopes to have - a pleasant and professional impression. Price was more than fair, and my only regret is that I couldn't take their internet speed with me, which was something outrageous because it's connected to the college. Anyone know how fast it is? It is now 9 months since I've taken my computer in and it has been running smooth all this time, even with the recent Windows 10 upgrade. By accident my husband deleted files on his work computer. This computer is 2001 vintage. Because of an earlier interaction with them we not only had a secondary computer and a new hard drive with the needed work information. They did their magic and got his work file back on his primary computer. The program that he uses is very out of date and not even available any more. So a HUGE THANK YOU TO ADEPT. read more

I would recommend these folks without reservation for repair, bug removal, advice and service. They do a lot of commercial work and they have a small office, and so may be difficult to reach by phone. They also have a dog on the premises that sounds like a terror, but just wants attention. Lovely folks, and they give freely and honestly of good advice. I got a new computer, and had a really nasty viruses removed. they stand behind their work. I would never get a computer using the internet or chain stores or have work done without consulting Adept any more than I would buy components without checking Next Step Recycling.
