Erik helped me to purchase a new computer system in January. Since I am a Tax Professional I needed to be extra sure that I met the new requirements from IRS on Security issues. Eric knew exactly what I needed which included a battery backup. I wasn't sure that I needed a battery backup but Eric said I did so I purchased one. Since then i have experienced two power outages in Southern California. Not a light anywhere in the house except for my computer screen that was still going. Erik was right again. I have used Erik's service since 2011 and he is always there when I need him. I actually have him on a monthly retainer which is the best money I spend for my business every month. When I call, he is always there. I couldn't be happier with his service, even though he is now in Oregon, he has still given me the exact service I need. Thanks Eric! read more

Definitely recommend! My computer was showing low disc space which caused other issues. Erik came to our house and got it working, it took longer because my Costco Dell computer wasn't cooperating at times! Erik stayed and got it cleaned up and ready to use. I really appreciated his help, we'll be calling again next time! Thank you Erik! read more

If I could give Eric more stars I would! I have always relied on Geek Squad for my IT needs. After having two computers crash in a matter of months, I was desperate for someone knowledgeable and available to answer my ongoing questions. I found Ask Eric online, he was quick to respond, meet, and save my computer and work week. He was attentive and clearly cared. I would absolutely recommend Eric for any IT needs big or small. read more

I needed to connect a 2nd computer monitor and was very frustrated, I spent time and money trying to figure it out. Then I remembered a conversation I had with Erik. I sent him an email and he responded immediately with a couple of questions and he was able to solve my problem right away. No more banging my head against the wall, I'll call him before I get frustrated in the future! read more

I recently had my office PC completely freeze with an error message saying c drive was out of space. My PC is only 3 years old and couldn't have possibly used all 500+ GB's of storage? In a panic I contacted Ask Erik Computer Services for help getting the storage issue resolved. Erik promptly created a wireless access to look at my computer's issues and was able to assess the problem. In a matter of 10 minutes he had cleared up the storage problem and had my PC up and running like it was new. I'd highly recommend Ask Erik Computer Services for help with even your most complex computer problems. read more

My 100th review! On this momentus occasion I'd like to take this opportunity to tell yelpland just how amazing Eric is! I've had computers all my life, and I've never had to take one to a repairshop.... until my computer completely crashed, burned, died, all my files gone, everything in shambles. Photos that were irreplacable! I spent 4 months reading every blog, every forum, hoping something would work (it always has). Finally, my fiance tells me that he will take my computer for repairs...that he knows of a guy. I honestly didn't have much hope, but I agreed something had to be done.. A week or so later, my computer was back shiny and new. I've been using it smooth as can be for a couple of months now. All my files have been restored, everything works as it did before. Eric actually REBUILT our registry from scratch... how, one would do that, I've got no clue. Magic. I will forever be grateful, read more

Have not written a review in quite sometime, but after visiting "Ask Erik Computer Services" it most certainly merits feedback! To say yesterday was a bad day, would be an understatement. Initially started with the computer power light dimming back and forth - WTF? Eventually pushed the power button and "pop" and the power went out! Took it to the Geek Squad, ah forget it! Staples Computer technician, ah forget it! Thank goodness for Yelp! found Erik. I explained the aforementioned scenario, he was knowledgeable with possibilities of what could be the problem. I went to his business and in 30 minutes did a diagnostic and repaired the problem. He even upgraded the interior light to make it look hip (lol). Saved my day! Would definitely recommend this guy! Thank you again Sir! read more

We were in a bad situation when Erik helped us. We were buying a house when I suddenly was unable to access email. This happened on a Friday afternoon around 4 pm. I called Erik, left a message & heard back from him in about 8 minutes. While discussing the symptoms of my dilemma & I mentioned that sometimes our cat walks on the keyboard for attention. When Erik heard about the cat he told me that he had cat allergies and couldn't come to my house. But, he offered to analyze the situation over the phone so I allowed him to remotely access the computer. Within 10 minutes he had fixed the problem!!! I asked him how he wanted to be paid, he said it was a free service today. I was amazed because he has saved us a lot of grief. If you ever have a computer problem check with Erik first. I can't say that he will do it for free but you will get an honest IT guy who is a problem solver. Erik thanks for your help, Kathy & Chris read more

Erik and Grant were life-savers today. My sweet cat knocked over a super large ice water directly onto my keyboard this weekend, reducing my three year old Dell Laptop into a whining DOS screen. I looked up computer repair on Yelp, saw the rave reviews and gave Erik a call once the soaked laptop had a chance to dry. Erik thought there might be some hope, and asked me to bring in the computer to check it out. Enter Grant, the lovely assistant, who cracked open the ancient Dell immediately to get to work on it. Grant called me within a few hours to say that, not only was there HOPE but that hope would be fast and cheap! They charged me for the diagnostic only and after a few bucks (not much) and a few hours, I was out of there with my old laptop and working (replacement) hard drive installed.. A little part of me wishes Erik and Grant weren't so good so I could have finally used that little endorsement on my insurance that would have replaced the sucker with a current new model. But alas, they are too damn good. Thanks Erik and Grant (kind of!) :) You guys are seriously awesome. p.s.: Just logged into the new/old computer... nice touch selecting the cat photo for the log-in- too funny! read more

Had a $3000 custom made gaming computer. Started having the "blue screen of death" and a host of other problems. Matt was awesome helped me carry the huge heavy thing from my car to the shop. Professional and use text messaging to keep me up to date with what was going on. Turns out that custom gaming desktops are not as easy to fix, but i will say that I we are having less problems with the computer and plan on using it till is gives out! I certainly will reccomend them to anyone-- and will go back with any future computer issues I may have (with a regular PC). Oh and thier prices are really good for the service you get. Thanks Guys! read more

Excellent service. I was having problems with Chrome on windows 8.1 and was all set to bring the desktop to Erik when I thought I would try email first. I received a very prompt response from him asking me to try a couple of things. Yeah! Problem fixed. Everyone I have ever talked to about Erik's services have spoken very highly of him. Great service. read more

I love this guy. First of all, his store is located in the cutest part of Seal Beach. It's the perfect area to grab an espresso and leisurely walk Main St. if you have some time to kill. On a more professional note, I've been impressed with Erik's knowledge and level of service. Twice now I have brought him my laptop due to trojan viruses. I also brought in my laptop recently because I lost all of my photos from a recent adventure and they were completely wiped off my hard drive. Somehow Erik was able to recover them. He might be a little more pricey than other shops, but his service and technical know-how is top notch. read more

So yeah...My computer was in bad shape. I mean worse then I'd ever seen it. The computer froze while cleaning it's registry and once it rebooted everything was gone. I was sad. I was mad. We couldn't get the computer to even boot up for a week. When we finally did, we couldn't get it to open a single document or file. We tried everything ourselves to fix it. Trying every tip online and still nothing. I pretty much thought all hope was lost and was getting ready to start shopping around for a new machine. That is until I.......You guessed it....Asked Eric! I brought in my 30lb Paperweight to see if there was anything Eric could do with it. He checked out the problems and saw how bad it was. It looks like this was a pretty major mission to get this up and running and Eric was up to the task. He had my computer for a few days and didn't give up on it until it was up and running like new. Actually, I'm writing this review from that same computer that I had written off! Eric's service was incredible. His price was VERY reasonable. When you're computer is on the Fritz do yourself a big favor. Don't take it to the Big Stores where they may overcharge for average service. Take it to Eric. He seriously knows his stuff and takes pride in his work. It really does show! read more

Erik has fantastic service and very fair pricing. My laptop screenhad to be replaced and he took care of everything! He even checked with the manufacturer to see if the screen would be covered by my factory warranty. - Thanks Erik! read more

I had a problem with my laptop and reached out to Erik and Company late Monday evening. Tuesday morning, he was connected to my laptop and checking out to see if he could find any issues. He spent over an hour and helped with a few things, and thus far, I am doing great. He was responsible, knowledgeable, and friendly, and took an interest in my business, and hooked me up with a connection that may help me out. They will get all my business today and in the future. A wonderful company to work with - highly recommend! read more

Eric was amazing. My laptop was giving me this weird "Unable to boot" message and I couldn't do ANYTHING with it. I took it to Ask Eric. He looked at it immediately and thought it might be a bad hard drive. (Which realy sucks, because of course I hadn't backed up anything.) I left it with him for the day and early the next morning he called me to tell me he had fixed the problem and save all my files. He even gave it a tune-up. When I picked it up he gave me some extra pointers on ways to protect it in the future and ways to keep it running well. Excellent, excellent service and a very fair price. I can't sing his praises enough. read more

My email was not coming to my inbox and I was losing sales! I had several people look at it, even another computer tech shop, and it wasn't just a simple issue. So I found Ask Erik on line. He called me back within a few minutes and spent a couple hours getting my email back in business. I would recommend this Ask Erik to anyone and I will be asking his advice and assistance in getting a new laptop soon. It is a relief to know where to go 'next time I need help. Thank you again! read more

Out of the blue my Microsoft Office became non compliant! I run a small business and I can't function without a smooth running laptop with word, excel etc.... I was screwed. A trusted friend referred me to Erik, so that morning I stopped by his office on main street Seal Beach. Erik calmly checked out my laptop and fixed the problem quickly. By no means am I a "computer expert," but I am a good judge of character and can tell when I'm dealing with a real expert; Erik is a good guy, and a real computer expert. I will return to him for all my computer needs. read more

I don't normally rate services when they are GREAT at what they do, because "services" are typically a person or a group doing what they do BEST and that's supposed to be GREAT! However....The guys at Ask Erik go the extra mile, that's just who they are an that's rarity today!!! read more

We just moved into town (Seal Beach) and we called them for help with our computer late in the day before a holiday weekend. Dominique said that he would try to find someone to come out on July 3 but it might be difficult to get a tech that day. He did suggest a fix that we could try to do ourselves with parts purchased at a big box store. We did that and it solved our problems! Kudos to Dom for helping us even though he might not get the job. He seemed very happy that this had worked for us as he understood that we couldn't wait four days for a tech. We will call them again if we have another computer issue. This listing makes it appear that there is a physical store and there is not. Calls are taken by an answering service but calls are returned quickly. read more

I came back today, this time for my computer. I couldn't be happier with the results. Solved my "head-scratching" problem for a price that was very fair. I highly recommend Ask Erik for your computer needs. read more

Erik is fantastic!! I consider myself fairly tech-savvy but I was at a loss when my POS systems refused to communicate one morning. I was on the phone with the help desk for an hour but no solution was found. I called Ask Erik for help and he immediately came over. He identified the issue, fixed it and double checked that things were working. He had me back up & running before my business opened and basically saved the day. He is super nice and very professional! read more

I went to Erik after Best Buy's Geek Squad gave me a dubious diagnosis of a 'fried motherboard' on my laptop. I don't know that much about computers, but I doubted that a computer that has problems booting quickly had a fried motherboard. Within 24 hours, Erik had diagnosed what was really wrong with it and suggested a fix (replace faulty RAM chip). I bought the RAM online and had it mailed to him. He replaced the old chip with the new and my computer works great now. Ask Erik has great service, reasonable prices and most importantly, I trust what he says (unlike the Geek Squad, who are clearly interested in selling you a new computer instead of fixing what you bring them). Do yourself a favor, go to him first! read more

Erik know computers like Hendrix knows guitars. Every time I have a question or issue for Eric, he gets back to me quickly and knows exactly what I need. I used Erik based on the reviews from Yelp. Yelp did not dissappoint; neither did Erik. I've used other local Computer repair shops in the area, Erik is more friendly and doesn't treat you like an idiot (like the guy up the street in Los Al).Prices are reasonable and he charges fairly. I've found a new tech guy to use; that's Erik. read more

Went to Ask Eric Computer Services because my home computer was running very slow even though I had cleaned my cookies and did all the normal stuff. He did a few things a normal person doesn't know how to do and did it without costing me an arm and a leg. Any type of maintenance on a vehicle or a computer is always questionable when it comes to price and work actually involved and considering his pricing and the way my machine runs now I would definitely go back. Thanks Eric for your help! read more

I talked to Erik on the phone last week and told him my problem. The start-up process was very slow, and the internet was not working on my laptop. It would open and then crash closed. We made arrangements for me to drop it off on Monday. When I got there, he asked me to stay and he would go through it right then. He installed a malware software and fiddled around with some of the other settings. He was also fixing another computer at the same time. When I left there, the internet had already connected to his wireless. I was there not even an hour. I highly recommend Ask Erik for any computer problems. He's good and he's fair with his pricing. read more

Erik came to our office highly recommended by our awesome SEO (Search Engine Optimization) person to fix our computers. Something went wrong when our computer was being scanned and we almost lost our business files which would have been catastrophic but Erik stood there for hours trying to solve the issue. He went as far as working long hours from his home until everything was back to normal. The next day he contacted my wife and thank God he fixed the issues. He is very honest and sincere. From now on no doubt I will use and recommend Erik to my friends and family. read more

Thank you, Erik, for visiting my business to assess my computer network, computer maintenance needs, and help me set-up a back-up plan for my network and all passwords in case of emergencies. I have had the pleasure of having my work laptop, a personal laptop and several client's computers serviced by Erik. He is efficient, timely and customer focused. In addition, his rates are highly competitive. I also really like the fact that Erik is involved and committed to the local community. Erik's primary focus is on PCs but he has done a great job whenever I have had a Mac issue. So go ahead and "ask Erik" - he can help! read more

Ask Erik is hands down the best computer support a gal can have. He can diagnois a problem very quickly and fix it just as quick. I thought for sure he was going to tell me we needed to order a part, but after 5 minutes of taking parts out and reconnecting cables, it is back up an running! What a relief!
