Erik helped me to purchase a new computer system in January. Since I am a Tax Professional I needed to be extra sure that I met the new requirements from IRS on Security issues. I recently had my office PC completely freeze with an error message saying c drive was out of space. My PC is only 3 years old and couldn't have possibly used all 500+ GB's of storage? My 100th review! On this momentus occasion I'd like to take this opportunity to tell yelpland just how amazing Eric is! I've had computers all my life, and I've never had to take one to a repairshop.... until my computer completely crashed, burned, died, all my files gone, everything in shambles. Have not written a review in quite sometime, but after visiting "Ask Erik Computer Services" it most certainly merits feedback! To say yesterday was a bad day, would be an understatement. Initially started with the computer power light dimming back and forth - WTF? Eventually pushed the power button and "pop" and the power went out! Took it to the Geek Squad, ah forget it! Erik and Grant were life-savers today. My sweet cat knocked over a super large ice water directly onto my keyboard this weekend, reducing my three year old Dell Laptop into a whining DOS screen. I looked up computer repair on Yelp, saw the rave reviews and gave Erik a call once the soaked laptop had a chance to dry. Erik thought there might be some hope, and asked me to bring in the computer to check it out. Enter Grant, the lovely assistant, who cracked open the ancient Dell immediately to get to work on it. Grant called me within a few hours to say that, not only was there HOPE but that hope would be fast and cheap! They charged me for the diagnostic only and after a few bucks (not much) and a few hours, I was out of there with my old laptop and working (replacement) hard drive installed.. A little part of me wishes Erik and Grant weren't so good so I could have finally used that little endorsement on my insurance that would have replaced the sucker with a current new model. But alas, they are too damn good. Had a $3000 custom made gaming computer. Started having the "blue screen of death" and a host of other problems. Matt was awesome helped me carry the huge heavy thing from my car to the shop. Professional and use text messaging to keep me up to date with what was going on. Turns out that custom gaming desktops are not as easy to fix, but i will say that I we are having less problems with the computer and plan on using it till is gives out! I certainly will reccomend them to anyone-- and will go back with any future computer issues I may have (with a regular PC). Oh and thier prices are really good for the service you get. I love this guy. First of all, his store is located in the cutest part of Seal Beach. It's the perfect area to grab an espresso and leisurely walk Main St. if you have some time to kill. On a more professional note, I've been impressed with Erik's knowledge and level of service. Twice now I have brought him my laptop due to trojan viruses. I also brought in my laptop recently because I lost all of my photos from a recent adventure and they were completely wiped off my hard drive. Somehow Erik was able to recover them. So yeah...My computer was in bad shape. I mean worse then I'd ever seen it. The computer froze while cleaning it's registry and once it rebooted everything was gone. I was sad. I was mad. We couldn't get the computer to even boot up for a week. When we finally did, we couldn't get it to open a single document or file. We tried everything ourselves to fix it. Trying every tip online and still nothing. I pretty much thought all hope was lost and was getting ready to start shopping around for a new machine. That is until I.......You guessed it....Asked Eric! I brought in my 30lb Paperweight to see if there was anything Eric could do with it. He checked out the problems and saw how bad it was. Eric was amazing. My laptop was giving me this weird "Unable to boot" message and I couldn't do ANYTHING with it. I took it to Ask Eric. He looked at it immediately and thought it might be a bad hard drive. (Which realy sucks, because of course I hadn't backed up anything.) We just moved into town (Seal Beach) and we called them for help with our computer late in the day before a holiday weekend. Dominique said that he would try to find someone to come out on July 3 but it might be difficult to get a tech that day. He did suggest a fix that we could try to do ourselves with parts purchased at a big box store. We did that and it solved our problems! Kudos to Dom for helping us even though he might not get the job. He seemed very happy that this had worked for us as he understood that we couldn't wait four days for a tech. I went to Erik after Best Buy's Geek Squad gave me a dubious diagnosis of a 'fried motherboard' on my laptop. I don't know that much about computers, but I doubted that a computer that has problems booting quickly had a fried motherboard. Within 24 hours, Erik had diagnosed what was really wrong with it and suggested a fix (replace faulty RAM chip). I bought the RAM online and had it mailed to him. He replaced the old chip with the new and my computer works great now. Ask Erik has great service, reasonable prices and most importantly, I trust what he says (unlike the Geek Squad, who are clearly interested in selling you a new computer instead of fixing what you bring them). I talked to Erik on the phone last week and told him my problem. The start-up process was very slow, and the internet was not working on my laptop. It would open and then crash closed. We made arrangements for me to drop it off on Monday. When I got there, he asked me to stay and he would go through it right then. He installed a malware software and fiddled around with some of the other settings. He was also fixing another computer at the same time.
