Absolutely terrible company to deal with. We purchased a new Wood burning fireplace, one of their…read moremost expensive, for our home and when they did the site visit, they did not measure correctly which we did not know until months later and construction had proceeded to the point of no return. When the unit arrived, they could not run the chimney under a beam that was always existing and known. It was also, apparently, on the drawing and despite them being a dealer for Regency they had zero understanding of how to install or the requirements for the fireplace. Long story short, I had to figure out the solution and did get it to fit, but Dave threw a grown man tantrum and decided to breach the install contract. In the end, he screwed up, refused to take 2 hours to come to our site and work out some details with the other contractors who were helping to fix their mistake, refused to accept responsibility for his mistake and then refused to refund money for equipment (chimney) that he did not supply. We are currently taking legal action because he will not provide the refund for the chimney despite the emails we have where, he offered to. It is ok because we have actually spent over $50,000 on additional HVAC, fireplaces and other contracts with their competitor Northern Energy Systems, who are real professionals, because they did not want to try to help get the job done. The new company we hired (to complete the installation of the fireplace they couldnt figure out how to install) thru Home Hardware in North Bay, were excellent and were able to solve the Chimney issue with very little extra effort. Dave's Heating just simply took zero time and effort to try and resolve the issue other than offering a refund...which they eventually did not follow thru with and ended up ripping us off $3k. I was also happy to spend extra money on construction changes to make the fireplace work. It boiled down to this entire conflict occurring because Dave would not come to the site, AT MY COST, to meet with the general contractor, to come up with a solution. Dave is a sad excuse for a business owner and an arrogant and selfish human being. I am sure the good reviews are for regular smooth contracts, but be warned, if things do not go his way or there is some situation where they make a mistake, they will rip you off and look out for themselves. I try to give out contracts to local companies being from the North, but this company belongs in the big city. We highly recommend Northern Energy Systems in Mattawa and North Bay Home Hardware instead of this company.

He called a little after noon said he would grab lunch and be right over. He quickly diagnosed the main problem and pointed put a couple things I had not noticed. He said he could right then or we could schedule for another time. I let him jump into it and left him alone to work. He finished it all up and gave me the bill. A technician came out,…read morestood at the door for less than two minutes, confirmed that the water heater needed to be replaced, and left. He took a few pictures and that was it. He told me he would email me a quote. After waiting, I followed up with Augusta Natural Gas twice over the next two weeks because I still had not received anything. With no response, I ultimately went with another company. That company took the time to explain our options, provided a quote, and completed the replacement that same week. Three weeks later, Augusta Natural Gas finally sent me their quote -- which was approximately double what the other company charged. Then, a few weeks after that, I received a $140 bill for "labor" for the technician's less-than-two-minute visit. I called to explain the situation and try to resolve the charge. Unfortunately, the customer service experience was even more disappointing. I was yelled at, accused of lying, and told not to call again. I remained calm and respectful throughout the conversation and ultimately had to hang up. I understand that companies charge for service calls, but charging $140 for a visit that lasted less than two minutes, failing to provide the promised quote for three weeks, and then treating a customer this way when they call with a legitimate concern is unacceptable. Based on this experience, I would not recommend Augusta Natural Gas and will be taking my business elsewhere.

Was transferred to the service department who answered with "Hello?!", as if they were angry at me. I'm thinking, "Is this the service desk? Who is this? Did I do something wrong, why's he mad?" I explained my issue quickly to absolute deafening silence. The man said "Yeah....You have to get it fixed.", as though I was an idiot. That's why I'm calling you. I said, "right," thinking maybe I hadn't explained the issue correctly. I described the three-handle setup, what was occurring, that I was aware of the stems and that maybe the O-rings or boot were just worn, but I had butted my head against it for a week and needed a professional. More. Silence. Long stretches of nothing. Then a dry and bothered tone said, "Yeah, you need to replace the parts. You can't just 'clean' them. You'd have to call up and order and replace the parts, sometimes the whole assembly........." I said, ".......Right. Soooo...." I mean am I supposed to order this?? If I knew the right part and could fix it, what am I calling you for? I said calmly but confused, "Is it something I can just go to the store for? I looked at the stem, but don't see a model number or brand or anything to get the right size and make. I'm also not sure if it is just that or if the whole assembly is having a problem." The half-asleep, half-bothered sounding gentleman replied with, "You have to have a tech come check it out for you.......Gerber's common........" Okay, are you training me to do your job or are you supposed to help me? So send a tech!! How about, "A tech will have to come out to help you, I can set that up now for you if you'd like!" No, he was halfway through another explanation of, I think, why this is my problem and not his when I just hung up. The entire call had the air of, "Okay, and what do you want me to do about it? I'm just a plumber." I didn't even get to the experience of working with these people because of this awful, patronizing phone etiquette. If this is your business, please get someone half alive to answer your phones in the future so I can even get to the part where I give you my money, which is all I wanted to do.

The technician spent 1.5 hours (by his own admission), but billed for 2.25 hours because (the fine print on the invoice revealed) we were charged for his travel time from his previous job to our location. We were also charged a dispatch fee. Neither the dispatch fee nor the travel charge were disclosed when we booked the appointment. This resulted in about $167.00 padding on an already hefty bill. The client, my mother, is a frail senior on a fixed income. Bilking seniors is not a good look, A-1. Oh, and showing up to a job drenched in cologne (I believe it was patchouli, to which both my mother and I are allergic) is decidedly unprofessional.
