They are not organized in the NFA area.... My first experience in the Spring location i was treated like a burden instead of the paying customer I was... The store manager Jimmy was rude about the suppressor i purchased and took over two weeks to input info with silencer shop (AKA) pushing my wait time back by 2 weeks, and then input the data wrong.... I had to do all my own leg work to make things right... Called to speak to manager and he was "in a meeting" ..... I am still waiting on a phone call back from the so called Ryan (GM) witch is absolutely ridiculous..... i will NEVER! purchase or promote another product from any of their locations ever again... customer service SUCKS!!!! read more

This place is over priced and run by people who will talk down to you and try to sell you what they think you need and not what you want...then if you spend $15000 buying guns from them in 9months and they sell you a lemon they will not stand behind their products. Not what it used to be....Friendly. Took my 2 daughters to shoot the other day (15 & 25) and they wouldn't let the 3 of us inside the range at a time, even though I wasn't shooting, only coaching. My 25 y/o forgot her license so they would not let her shoot. I have been going there for years and have always been allowed to go in with my girls. I get it, they have rules. And I don't break rules. So, I went down and tried the new Texas Tactical Gun Range right down the road, WOW! So nice. The range is automated and super nice. They allow 3 people to a booth while shooting and didn't panic and send us away when my daughter told them she didn't have her license. Best of all, they were super friendly! I would rate the Spring location four stars (possibly five), but the Woodlands location's customer service brings it down to a two stars. The better customer service warrants the extra drive to the Spring location. Over the years I have purchased several class 3 items and a few regular firearms from Spring Gun & Ammo. However, my last experience in dealing with the Woodlands location has lead me to shop around and no longer loyal to the SGA as my primary shop. read more

My first time in the store the staff was kind as well as very helpful with my purchase. They even worked with me in the price of my item a bit which was much appreciated. I used their free range pass today and I e got to say that despite not allowing any rapid fire the range was pretty good, you can fire controlled pairs which is nice. The facility itself was clean and despite how many shooters there (it was pretty busy for a weekday) there was no wait. The ammo prices were more than fair. I got a good deal on ammunition as well for the range from them which is awesome considering how many ranges gouge ammo prices on site. Over all I really enjoyed my purchasing experience as well as the range facilities. The customer service on both sides was courteous and professional. The only thing that I wish it had was better yard markings on the range. Maybe re paint the red lines and numbers as well as paint the corresponding distances to the lines on the wall around 3-5 feet up so shooters know where they're at as far as distance to the target. Overall I was much happier buying here than other stores I've visited in Houston. The staff was great, prices fair and the free range pass is a nice touch that you just don't get buying from a place like academy or collectors firearms. read more

Absolutely the worst experience ever - and I'm not the type to write a review slamming someone online. I work in an industry where bad reviews can mean no business - but in this instance I feel that it's absolutely necessary to share the absolutely horrible experience I had at SGA today. I'm a technician at European Star Motors, which is a few hundred feet west of SGA. I've beeen working there a few months, and 2 or 3 days during the week and at least one day on the weekend I travel down to League City to Arms Room in order to shoot - Arms Room is the only other worthwhile indoor range in the Houston area that allows assault rifles to be fired inside. Because SGA is literally a stone's throw away from my work, I thought that I'd check it out, as it would save me a ton of gas but I'd still be able to shoot several times a week. I called the range at around 4:00PM and asked the person on the phone if they allowed high-caliber assault rifle type rounds, and they said yes. I asked 'I can shoot a 7.62x54r there?' and he said yes. I asked, just to clarify, that if I brought my Mosin-Nagant 7.62x54r up there that evening that I would be able to shoot it, and he again said yes. I traveled home (to the Heights) to get my Mosin, and headed back to SGA. I arrived right at 4:40PM, entered the range, and asked the girl behind the counter whether or not I'd be able to fire the Mosin that evening. She said yes, wrote down my name, and gave me the paperwork to fill out. I filled everything out, and just after 5:30 they called my name. A bit long to wait, but it happens - it's a busy industry, can't blame someone for having lots of business. I went to give her my license, and she asked if all my rounds were brass. 'No, I don't think they even make them in brass' I replied. She said that they make everything in brass, and they could sell me some brass cased ammo. I said sure, whatever, I've had a long day and I've already waited, so what's a few bucks for some shells. She brings over a much smaller ammunition, and I told her that it doesn't look right. 'It's right, they're all the same' she replied. I told her it looked like that round would fall out of the barrel, and presented one of my larger 7.62x54r rounds. She called another employee over and asked if they had any of the right ammo for me, and he said 'Yes, but he can only shoot that on the rifle range, and we aren't letting anyone shoot on the rifle range tonite.' I looked at him quizzically and said 'Are you serious? I called AND asked when I first got here over an hour ago, and you said I could shoot this here tonite!' He just shrugged and walked off. I can't believe that they would put a customer through such a hassle - especially a customer who was literally about to set down his credit card and purchase one of their 'Gold' memberships (since I DO shoot several times a week, and feel that it would be a good value)...not to mention try to give me improper and unsafe ammo for my rifle, WHEN I TOLD HER THE CALIBER, and tell me that it's all the same and it's safe to shoot! What if someone who knew less about firearms was there, and she gave them the wrong ammo, and they had a malfunction and hurt themselves or someone else on the range? This place is absolutely HORRIBLE, the staff is unfriendly and doesn't seem to know much (if anything) about their product or service. I can't believe this place is in business, much less has business. I can assure you, I'll never go there again - and I'll advise my coworkers, who were ALSO considering purchasing memberships there tomorrow, to stay away as well. read more

Don't waste your time or money at this place. The children that work behind the counter don't have the faintest idea of what proper customer service is. They are rude and abrupt. I decided to give them another try and called to speak with someone about the range. I spoke with a young man, who didn't bother to give me his name. I told him that I had a .357 revolver and would like to shoot some steel case rounds. He said , "We don't allow steel case rounds". I explained to him that it was a revolver and that I would be happy to bag the rounds after use. Like a robot he says, "We don't allow steel case rounds". That seems to be the extent of his vocabulary. I guess they don't want any steel mixing with the brass that they either bag and sell or reload and sell. I will definitely find another place to go even if I have to drive a little further. read more

My wife and I bought pistols from the Spring location and had a good experience with the salesman. Price was fair. We are new shooters and took training 1 year later without ever shooting our guns. My wife's 1911 started without issues, then stove piped every other shot. As we tried different mags and such with our instructor, he advised we have the seller look into it (maybe a cleaning and/or oiling). I called Spring Guns & Ammo in Spring a young man answered the line who wasn't rude but blamed EVERYTHING except the gun like he was there. I asked what they could do and he offered NO assistance, not even an examination! I've had experience with customer service and know when representatives aren't allowed to help customers even when they spends thousands of dollars. Beware companies (like this one) that answer the phone and don't bother looking up your records and use brush off statements like this "It must have" or "they always". I'll be spending my money in the future at places that appreciate my business and don't falsely accuse without ANY understanding or concern. BUYERS BEWARE! read more

Went here for the first time recently. After what I've read I can confirm the guy at the front counter of the store is rude. The girl at the counter of the range is nice and I had a good experience there, though. I would give it five stars but one star off for the rude guy and another star off for the pricey ammunition at the range. It's not extremely high for range ammo but I've seen better. I was considering taking a pistol here to be refinished but not after dealing with the dude at the front counter. I'll probably still come to the range, however. read more

My wife and I live a stones throw away from the outdoor range in Spring but just became members of Spring Gun and Ammo yesterday. They let you bring the safe when you go to their range no more fee for every gun you own. The staff is friendly and helpful the prices are just in line with every other major gun shop in Houston. They even are comparable to Academy and Cheaper than Gander. We first went a few months ago and it only took a few visits before we started to drive here over that Country Place less than a mile from the house. Don't get me wrong the other place is great too but this place is the best bang for the buck. My wife is a new shooter and she is very comfortable there the staff is very helpful and when she takes her CHL later this year it will be at Spring Gun and Ammo. read more

Recently I have just come home from being overseas and while I was driving around getting re-familiar with the area I stumbled across them. Went inside and was met by the pretty young girls (you know what I mean) and once I started asking some real questions a fella by the name of Aaron came over, and this guy went above & beyond to not only answer my questions but went into great detail regarding buying/renting options, supplemental course training, range vouchers, etc. So I ordered a long rifle for my daughter (not a shelf stock) and when it arrived I wsa called, given free range time for my whole family so we could all learn the weapon, and Aaron even took the time to talk with my daughter asking some basic questions. Not the freak type, just basic gun conversation with a young shooter like safety, why do you want to shoot, holding, aiming, etc. Course my kid has been on a BB gun for the last few years with my teaching so it was good for her to see Dad isnt the only guy teaching safety! My wife was so impressed with the atmosphere and friendliness (not like the sleezy creeps trying to talk advanced technique crap from you tube vids) that I signed her up for the conceal carry class and range time so she can get comfortable with the handgun I bought for her. All in all I liked it. I have gone back pretty regularly now and it is a nice change to shoot indoors and not feel pressed into buying a weapon just because you want to look at it. The only thing I noticed that felt different (and it maybe its JUST ME) was that I havent seen some old fart gunsmith that knows everything about everything working the counter. There were a few fellas my same age (~40) there but the rest of the workers were young. Course even when I was over in the sandpit these soliders had baby-faces. Bottom line 1.It is close to the house 2.Family friendly/oriented 3.Average range fees/time, plus the older fellas there actually want to teach folks. read more

I would not recommend this range to anyone. We waited forever to get our stall and were then asked to leave early with no discount. The staff was rude and unhelpful to boot. Spring Guns and Ammo is the worst range I have ever been to, but I hear good things about the British guy who does their CHL course. The range girls are also hot, but again, their attitudes were shitty. Especially the blonde who was making reservations and taking payments. Had a lot of fun here. Staff was nice, always gave great information about the guns I was curious about. When I was firing a rifle, one even came in with a stand to be able to shoot more accurately. Just took the CHL class at Spring Guns and Ammo. The instructor was Charles Persinger. Very knowledgeable, and personable. The class was directed at getting you the information and knowledge you need to carry a gun and what happens when you have to use it. I was more concerned about the shooting qualification and that too ended up being a very easy going experience. I had issues with my new gun, and the instructor having the same gun gave me some pointers on how to fix the issues. I've heard horror stories from other's who took the CHL courses in the past. This seemed to be the best and most laid back and the four hours went very quick. I would recommend you to take your course here. I have also purchased several guns from S G&A as well. I have also had good service before, during, and after the sale. If there is a question about the gun they will have the answer. They do get busy and if you go during their busy time expect to wait, but once they get to you, they will help and tell you what you need to do.. read more

I went to sell a S&W SD9ve and accessories to them. It's worth about $300. I'm an intelligent person and I know they aren't going to give me that. They have to make a profit when they resell it. They only offered me $75 for the pistol, 4 magazines, a hard case and holster. That is an insult. They tried to pass it off as a fair offer but that's laughable. I will still buy guns there as their selling prices are fair and the people are very friendly. I won't ever try to sell one there again. read more

I bought S&W bodyguard,sig p238 and also bought holster and extra mag for both. Didn't have time to try it out that day. The next day I went back to shoot and like the sig p238. I ask to traded back my s&w and buy another sig p238. The price was more than $400. They willing to do that and waived the 20% restock fee but they won't take back the holster and the mag. I'm willing the exchange the holster and exchange the mag. The mag also $30 more but they won't do it. I really want the sig but don't want to have extra s&w holster and mag for nothing. Btw the gun still haven't shot or even take out the box and this is with 24hr. Never go back there and purchase anything again. read more

Recently took a handgun safety class here with Chuck. He is great! Offered to give CHL seekers an ad hoc proficiency test after the class. Soon came back looking to purchase a handgun. Was thinking the Glock 19, but wanted to vet some comparables. Spoke with salesman Chris Wade. He was very helpful answering all my questions. He told me I could shoot a few rentals and if I bought today, would get the range fee waived. After I shot a few, I came back and decided to purchase the Glock 19. But uh oh! You need a Texas DL (stupid me), I hadn't had a chance to get mine yet. I was disappointed that I wouldn't have my range fee for the day waived and also that I had a 5% off coupon I intended to use which expired that day. Chris jumped to the rectify the situation (my own fault anyways) gave me a few free range passes and told me he would still honor the expired coupon next time I came in! When I bought the gun, they also let me test shoot it for a while for free. This is my range now and I have had a positive experience every time I have come. I would recommend for classes, purchase, and shooting. read more

Decent indoor range, but expensive like all indoor ranges are. Plus, be prepared to wait if you go at peak times (weekend afternoons). No one should get irritated about this....its to be expected when you have a good facility like they do. On the retail side, I traded in a glock for another one and got a fair value for the trade. The key here is know what your pistol is worth before going in, and understand that they have to make a profit when they sell it. They offered an amount that was slightly low (not terrible), I countered for a few bucks more and they accepted. I got the glock I wanted, and I'm sure they made a few bucks on my used one - that's a win-win for everyone. Folks, that's the way it works when you trade in a gun at a gun store. Don't expect a ton because the handgun market is on fire right now, and they WILL sell the gun you want to someone else. read more

Not happy !!!! I purchased a used Taurus pt 145 for $ 349. About a month later after shooting about 10 rounds ( I did not like the gun ) I returned to the store to trade it in on a New Glock 21. They said the Taurus was only worth $ 100. I feel ripped off !!!! Beware the customer service is very poor I understand making a profit but come on this is out of line. I will never buy from them again. Try Spectre Firearms only a few miles away. I have purchased 5 guns from them and always had a good experience. read more

The staff here is really nice and helpful. They have a decent selection of firearm to rent and purchase. Their pricing is competitive and sometimes they run a sale that helps with the tax. The staff members that sell firearms are helpful and will offer their honest opinions when asked. Their shooting range is good and very competitive for the price. A week ago I went in to SGA with NO knowledge of guns. I purchased a handgun and now, a week later, I feel completely confident in handling it. This is because each and every person I have encountered at SGA has been so extremely helpful and willing to share their knowledge about guns, gun care and shooting. I had looked other places and it seemed they were only worried about making a sale. These guys really want you to learn how to use it properly and safely.
