Absolutely disappointed and disgraced by this store. Skeet & Trap ranges are always understaffed and machines need service. Trap range has been down for over a month with the only explanation from Carters is we are waiting on parts. My kids love to shoot skeet & trap and the fact that Carters Country can't get it together is embarrassing... Bill Carter should be ashamed of how his kid is running this operation. read more

The people that work here have a pretty bad attitude. Especially the clerk in the front. You will walk away feeling that you overpaid it you bring more than 2 guns to their range.. You have to pay for each gun that you bring... what If you brought 5 of their pistols in a range bag? Well, at Carter's Country you will pay $90+ tax just to shoot them! Another negative is that the range officers stare you down like a HAWK. It's their job to keep the range safe, but are they are not friendly. You will wind up chatting and laughing with your buddies during the cease fire only to turn and see an RSO staring you down with a stern look on their face. You have to walk around with rifles and shotguns out of the case. Which I find pretty dumb, too. Other than that, what can I say? I like to shoot guns. I was able to shoot and had a decent enough time thanks to my friends. read more

Whew I really like shooting, BUT this place is strange. Where to start? With the charge per gun (many ranges do this), they won't let you place a sticker on your target. Feels like a squeeze to me. As one reviewer stated "5 guns will put you close to $90). I really find it problematic if I bring 2 AR's and a few mags, that they must be transported without a case. That seems more dangerous than using a case. I like active ranger officers, so that is a plus. Multiple times I've gone to explore a gun or ammo everyone behind that gun counter is an asshole! Today I went to explore a different type of ammo and guy looked at my gun to tell me what kid it was. Um.... I know what my gun is, then says "well then what do you need from us then?" Told him I was exploring a different ammo that I now know won't work. Carters is a nice outdoor range with a lot of different styles for shooting. They have been around forever and kept the place up good. The range officers were very good about watching for safety and were very kind to be around. My favorite style would be the trap. They have a nice area to shoot trap. The cost isn't too bad for trap. However, the price to shoot targets are very high. Which is why I gave this place 3 stars. They charge by gun or person and it's around 18.00 a pop. I brought 3 guns and my family with a couple friends and spent around 200.00 for target shooting. We also had to buy eye ware as it is now a requirement. Trap was around 48.00 or so which wasn't bad and my opinion was the funnest and that officer was awesome. Other than the price, it was great. We will be back but for trap shooting only. read more

Located north of IAH airport so the place is in spring/ deer brook mall area. It's kind of in the middle of the woods, but it seems like the area is quickly booming into a nice suburbia. Price is very reasonable around 10 - 13 dollars per gun/ Rifle which includes a free target. This is probably one of the cleaner outdoor range I've been to. It's probably one of the largest I've been to as well. There's plenty of officers around keeping the safety of others and this place has lots of customers through out the day. On August 26th myself and a friend stopped by Carters Country, to look at a firearm for purchase. While there we watched a person wearing a light blue shirt / jeans walking behind the sales counter approach a female store employee who was wearing a Carters County shirt, yell at the girl " Who in there right mind stand here and not notice this ammo shelf needs refilling the tone and mannerisms of his voice was demeaning and very condescending, my friend remarked " man if he spoke to me that why there would be a problem" needless to say we decided not to purchase the firearm from Carters after watching this, while outside in the parking lot we spoke to another customer who advised us he is regular customer at Carters and he too observed the incident he told us the guys name is Morell, after thinking about this I decided to review Carters County, the range and store are first class I ve never had a bad experience there! This range has a rule that long guns must be uncased. Every other range I have been to wants guns to remain in the case until you are at the shooting bench. While I was inside the shop, a man with a rifle slung across his back bent over to pick something up and his muzzle pointed right at my head. - This is a BIG safety issue. Also, one of the kids that works at the range picked up my rifle from the rack and started fiddling with the stock. Picking up someone else's gun is not okay ever. read more

I like Carter's Country. While I see some people complain about the "rude" people working, I've had the opposite experience. I've come here to shoot trap and skeet, use the hand gun range, and my mom bought a pistol there this weekend. Each time I've gone, I think they are friendly and have offered sound advice. I also like the prices on the gun range which seemed to be lower than others that don't charge per gun. Overall, I've had some issues with the trap and skeet stands shooting broken clays a lot. 1 day I think every other one broke which really threw off my rhythm shooting. I also wish I could pull my own at least on one course. I don't always try to take count and need someone to man it for me. It just adds extra cost including a tip. Overall, can't complain. I'll be a returning customer to this location. read more

I drove 1/2 hour to get there after speaking to them on the phone to confirm they had what i was looking for. They told me they were sure they had it in stock, but when i arrived, they said they didn't have it and they didn't know why i was told that. I was wearing a mask, but none of the store workers were wearing mask. When i asked the manager why didn't they wear mask, he stated that they were a private company and the owner didn't require them to wear mask. Then he told me that he had already had covid and had been hospitalized for it, but he still refused to wear a mask; he even coughed a couple of times while talking to me! I think this is very reckless, careless and inconsiderate of them to not care enough to try and protect their customers! It's not just about them, it's about their customers too. read more

They have bad days, they are human. On the whole they reflect me when I shop, if I am smiling and friendly they approach me the same. Then my shopping experience becomes me in a candy store. We smile and sometimes laugh as I shop, they tell me of equipment that may suit me. For forty years it has worked like this. I have spent thousands of dollars over the years working with this company. Anyone who has ever asked me where to shop for specific equipment, Carters is where I send them, I always get thanks. Went in with my boss who wanted to buy an AR15... David shows us what they had and pricing. We picked the Ruger priced at $779.00 We went and picked out a case and returned to the counter... The lady at the counter explained to us that the reason for this ban is because the tape covers over the wooden post and people shoot them (causing damage to the wood). I'm sure this is a problem if you place your target over the wooden post, but most normal people would just hang their target over the wires like they are suppose to lol. Other than the blue tape ban, the place isn't too bad to shoot at. The safety crew aren't always over your shoulders and are pretty relaxed but does their job well. Also, there are usually plenty of lanes open on weekday afternoons so I never had to wait for an open lane. Just expect to pay a little extra for an additional gun and target paper. read more

Came here to purchase a gun with my sister and mom. Our salesman Daniel was extremely condescending and rude. Any questions we had he would respond by making us feel stupid and was just downright hateful. He literally didn't want to offer any advice or help or opinion about anything that had to do with his business. He didn't want to be there and after dealing with him we probably will never be back. He was truly one of the worst sales people we've ever met. We did get a gun but not because of his awesome selling skills... lol.. I would like to give them 5 stars but the some of the range officers made my visits unpleasant !!! :( I have been shooting here for about 1 year The staff in the store: 5 star The staff in the field: 2 star (there is one or two that look at you like a criminal) The facility range: 3star (would love to add a 200 yard but what I do not like is the no rifle inside case rule!!!! I have a heavy rifle and lost of ammo. I like to keep everything inside my large bag.... To my knowledge No other range in the Houston area does this!!!) The facility store: 5 star(real helpful and super nice!!) Prices: 2 star( the no time limit is good and the price per gun is ok but the price of the targets is WAY to High and you CAN NOT use stickers of any kind like the shoot-N-c, also they do have their own shoot-N-c but it is $2.50 per target and that is high because you can buy a pack of 6 shoot-N-c in academy for $5.99!!!! Can't speak on products or the range, haven't shot or shopped there and probably never will. Went in to get a quote on my barely used g34 and the manager had little knowledge on how to use the mag release button and claimed something was wrong with it or modified. Either that or he just made an excuse and didn't want to give a quote. Inexperienced and/or unprofessional. Mag release button works as intended and mag slides out 0 issues. When I say he was struggling to get the mag out boy was he struggling. Pretty awkward to watch. Do not go there to sell your firearms, they will probably lowball you if they even bother to offer a quote. read more

Took my girlfriend and her Dad in to this establishment and was politely greeted by young lady who answered the questions I had and was a guide to get us started. Was introduced to RSO (Range Safety Officer) and he gave a thorough class on safety procedures for range. So far so good...I didn't know that he was going to be right behind us the whole time and in my GF's Dads ear yelling about trigger pull and relax this and that, square this up, you're shooting to fast etc etc. I wished he would have just been there for safety reasons instead of coaching and yelling tips. We shot some rounds and had to wait 5-10 minutes it seemed to transfer to different ranges. Lots of standing around. Was only 7-8 shooters that day. I'll go back but will ask that Coach John Wayne doesn't attend our outing next time. read more

Every time I go to this location everything is fine as far as shooting range that being said, I'm not a happy camper as far as when you buy ammo they only sell you one baggie of 25 rounds per day, where every where else you can buy a box. What top it off for me was a purchase for a brand new glock and was missing magazines and the back pieces that come with it, also the cleaning brush for the barrel. Loved the glock and did paper work , it seamed that they wouldn't take anything out the box and when I came home 2 days later I opened it to check it out more thoroughly I noticed I was missing all those items. I won't be going back to them and will not even call them to attempt to talk or argue about it I'm just not content with that experience. read more

I have been going to Carters Country for the past 40 years and always find their products and Staff to be top notch! In-fact, last week I call looking for 2 boxes of Federal Premium Ammo in .308 win 185 grain with the Juggernaut open tip match load. The warehouse manager (Bart) was able to locate 2 boxes and set them aside for me to pick up on Monday. Sure enough when I when in on Monday there was the bag with my 2 boxes of ammo, just as Bart said he would do. Now that's service Folks!!!
