I liked how welcoming the hosts were and how Spring Gate offers something for everyone -  beer, wine, cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages. Dont like updates. Enclosing the two previously semi open areas was a mistake. Likes to sit under these areas with the walls opened up when warm to protect from the sun. Also eliminating afternoon music is disappointing. Nice to be able to listen to music in early afternoon . Was a great place for many years until toyal winery took over. I've been to Spring Gate a couple of times for a few drinks, a little music, and some quality people-watching. So far, I haven't been there during warm weather, but I can only imagine that it gets to be even more interesting as the weather warms, summer attire replaces heavier cold weather garb. The place is huge -- something like a campus with several different bars and seating areas instead of lecture halls, much of which is outdoors -- so I'm very interested to see what the warmer seasons hold as the cold weather adjustments are retired until Fall. Service is generally quick and friendly, though it's all walk-up, so make sure to consider that when you choose your footwear for a visit -- I've seen some interesting and awkward challenges with heels. I think the only detractor to my visits is that, not being a wine person due to an allergy, they don't have a lot of options otherwise. I think there's an opportunity to partner with a local brewery to expand their inventory a bit. I'll definitely return from time to time because the combination of music and wine makes for some wonderful entertainment! read more

Some family and i came for the Fall Fest this past Saturday but we weren't impressed, sadly. For starters, we got there at 4pm and there were no vendors left. We ordered drinks and bought wine but the one single gentleman was overwhelmed at the counter while others were polishing glasses rather than helping, so it took a while. Lastly, we thought it might be nice to sit out at a fire pit, so we asked the bartender in the brewery to light one for us and it turns out the only 2 open fire pits did not have any propane in them. If you organize a "Fall Fest" on a cold weekend, probably want to make sure all fire pits are operational. Never ran into these issues when it was Spring Gate and i hope things get better honestly. read more

The property of this vineyard is beautiful. The layout was confusing at first and I didn't feel like there were enough signs, but people were helpful when we asked for directions. It was extremely hot today and there were minimal fans in their outdoor seating section as well as very few indoor seating options. It's not their fault that it was 90 degrees, but some more fans would have been a nice addition. The food trucks were great! Such a good idea to have a variety of food options. This place is a very commercial-mega winery experience. Get in get your order in at a counter grab a seat. Very hustle and bustle so no relaxing around and sipping the vino in a quaint environment. The energy level and noise is very high which I understand a lot of the younger folks seek this out. I did enjoy the live music. The wine all had a little teeny bit of fizz to it. I got a great sampler pack for my "tasting" in these time of covid. They do have indoor bathrooms you can walk to as well as the old porta pots. Perhaps on a warm sunny day and no pandemic the experience could be more delightful as I could find a nice outdoor space to relax away from the noise. read more

Did the Sunday Brunch with Mimosa on 5/5/24. Weather was cold 50-55 degrees plus raining and the only option to sit was outside under a pavilion. And the pavilion was dripping water at the peak onto the tables. The food was mediocre at best and the they ran out of coffee for a brunch, can you believe it. Service people were not nice and very short when questioned about the coffee being all gone. Also, no option for those who drink tea. No knives or spoons either. This is an overpriced event and I do not recommend it at all. We will never go to the brunch again. GS read more

I literally cannot express to you how much we love this place. We did not like wine until we started coming here. Any time we have friends come from out of town, we bring them to Spring gate. Whenever we aren't sure what we want to do for date night, we go to Spring gate. They have activities like bingo and trivia on different nights of the week, tastings, and live music frequently. There is always something to do. The only complaint I have is how expensive the food is here, and they don't allow you to bring outside food. Regardless, we keep coming back for more. Their chocolate renove is amazing, their regular renove is fabulous as a slushy, and their blueberry and strawberry mellos are dangerously delicious. We have visited numerous times, and I only wish I had the money to go more often. I can't get enough of the good times we have here. Beautiful grounds to enjoy scenery, music, drinks and good company. Drinks and food trucks are great! Business does need to discuss and invest in hiring more people to service drinks. Lines are extremely long. Also, the grass where people sit is pretty long... makes it itchy and uncomfortable. My friend found a tick on her foot. I understand that is not their fault, but keeping up with lawn care helps avoid such pest. More trash and recycling around all areas is also needed! read more

This is for the Spring Gate Arcona - which I think is the same wine as regular vineyard it's just an extension. The wine, almost allll of the wine, is very sweet. The "dry" wine is not dry. It's sweet. The people and ambiance are awesome - but, some people like dry wine... Hopefully owners will see this....and in future years create something dry. Cheese plate could also use some work. It was fine - but it was just mild cheddar and some other type of non-interesting cheese. We had fun, but wine was not our favorite. read more

Spring Gate is open year round. I used to like going there with friends but was recently turned off and will likely not return. Last time I went it was chilly and drizzling, but this did not put a damper on the visit at all. I simply asked the food truck vendor for an additional plate to shield my food from the rain. It was delicious and well worth a few rain drops. I brought my $15 "Spring Gate" souvenir wine slushee cup but decided it was too cold to have a slushee even at the happy hour rate given with the it. When I left... I forgot my $15 cup on the table!!!!!!!!! I tried diligently to contact them via phone over the next few days. No one answered and voicemail did not pick up! I had no choice but to physically go to the location for my lost item. It was exactly 7 days later. I approached the bar tender and asked her if they had a lost and found. I continued to explain that I had left my $15 souvenir cup on the table the week prior. Her response was... "oh, well we wouldn't keep something like that. It would have been thrown away" I glanced at the the tall stack of souvenir cups sitting right next to us and said, "really??" *mic drop* At that moment I decided to purchase two bottles of the cider that I like and to never return to this establishment. After a few days of calming down, I attempted to call and speak to a manager. No answer. No voice mail, hence this review. read more

Me and the girls planned a girl's weekend in Hershey and wanted to visit a winery. After searching through Yelp, we decided to go with Spring Gate Vineyard. This winery has wine tasting everyday all year round. For $9 you get to try nine different wines plus you get to keep the wine glass. The day we arrive (a Sunday) it was the Cranberry Fest. We had to park out in the field farther away from the building, however, there was a walk way that took you back to the winery. Maybe a 2-3 minute walk. While heading to the winery we noticed several food trucks. The winery doesn't serve food. We ended up trying the tacos which were really good. As we continued to walk towards the building, you could see people sitting outside by the fire pits with bottles of wine. A perfect crisp day for it. When we finally made it to the wine tasting area, we noticed it was crowded. We decided to wait since that's what we came for. After waiting at least 20-25 minutes, we found a space at the bar that would fit all 4 of us. The drawback about this place (at least on this day) was there wasn't enough bartenders for the wine tasting and probably why the long wait. There was at least 5-6 groups at the bar with only two barmaids. As soon as the barmaid would pour the wine he/she would have to run off to assist another group. Another barmaid would have made our experience more enjoyable. Would I come back again, I'm not sure since there are many options in the Hershey area. read more

I recently visited Spring Gate while I was in the area staying at a friends house. I had been here once before, pre-pandemic, and enjoyed it! During this second visit, Spring Gate was hosting the cherry festival, which selected products were discounted. We got there around 4 PM. I originally wanted to have a peach mango slushee, but they were out of it. Instead, I had a cherry wine slushee, which I enjoyed but my friends did not. They were promoting a lemonade lavender mix you could make at home, however, you could only purchase it outside, which did not make sense to us. We walked around to find that some places where you could purchase drinks were closed, which definitely limited customers. Eventually we found a place to sit indoors that had beer selections. A couple of my friends had those. Then, they closed that bar at 6 PM, which we found odd for a pretty busy Saturday evening. I'm not sure if all the different experiences were due to covid restrictions, but we were a little let down overall with our time there. A plus side, I enjoyed my time with my friends! Cool venue, but if you're having events on weekends and expecting a crowd, you should probably have sufficient staff on-hand. They do wine tastings in batches. We were told they were currently doing a tasting but we're almost done and we could join the next batch. After waiting around for 20 minutes, we gave up and went inside to stand in the bottle/tap line. Another 25 minutes in line and we finally got drinks. The cashier didn't know anything about the wines (what is sweet, what is not) as she said she was only on her 2nd shift. My wife and I don't like sweet wine, so we asked if we could taste before ordering. The answer was "no, you can only do tastings outside" where we gave up. So we ordered the least sweet drinks we could and they're completely undrinkable. There are also at least 2 additional bars that are closed and should be open on a day like today. I came here after a suggestion from a fellow coworker who was from the area. Being from the Pittsburgh area we sadly don't have a lot of wineries in our area. The few options we have are either a drive away or they are small little shops. Part of me was expecting the same thing for this area but I was very shocked. This winery was absolutely beautiful. We came on a Wednesday right after work and the outdoor area was already packed. It had people of all ages sitting around enjoying wine and each other's company. It was easy to see why this place was so well liked. Not only did they serve wine but they had beer and cider as well. It had something for absolutely everyone. They even had a number of food trucks lined up which was impressive for a Wednesday night. I ended up having a wine slushie, a cider, and brought home a few bottles of wine. All of which were very good. They had a lot of variety so they have wine for sweet wine drinkers, dry wine drinkers, and everyone in between. I would definitely recommend giving it a try. If I'm ever back in the area I will definitely be going back. read more

I give Spring Gate 3.5 stars. It's crazy because I had really high expectations of this place compared to the other two wineries I've visited in the area. When my friends and I visited Spring Gate, they had some sort of event going on so there were a lot of people on the premises. They even had food trucks there. We didn't get to check out very much of the property because it was a little overwhelming. On the inside they have a bar where you can purchase drinks and a separate tasting bar. Unlike the other wineries I've visited that day, Spring Gate has a pre-selected list of wines and ciders for you to sample. On the other hand, the tasting was free. I'm not sure if the tasting was free due to the event they had going on or if it's always free but that was cool. I think if I'd gotten the chance to select the wines I wanted to taste, I would've been more likely to buy a bottle since I would've picked something that I liked. Nevertheless, I wouldn't mind visiting again and hopefully, get the chance to stay a little while longer. read more

Came here for the Cherry Blossom Festival. Was really surprised to find such a beautiful winery right off of the main route 22. We started with a wine tasting ranging from Whites to Reds, which all were very good. Can't beat the price either, only 7.00$ for 6'different wines. They had a band with great music today in one of their tents;that I must mentioned was heated on this cool Sprinter day; with lots of seating. Didn't know they brew their own beer, but great selection for those beer connisuers looking for some suds. Had Tacos from Taco 717, Carne Asada & Beef Brisket; both came in corn tortillas and had great flavor. All in all, great event. Definitely will be back to check out the upcoming events. Amazing place! We came here to celebrate with close friends after my wedding. The food trucks were amazing and the wine was awesome! The only thing I would improve on... I wish the owners posted somewhere CLEARLY that they don't accept cash during the COVID crisis (being a scientist and RN I understand why), but it wasn't made known clearly and obviously in their page until after we showed up. So we went elsewhere that evening. While we will return, I hope that they have since made it obviously clear that only card transactions are allowed... seeing that two months ago it was not clear. What a cool little place! We stopped in for a quick drink while out on the bike. Hubby had a Belgian beer that he loved, I had a nice sweet cider. Both were so refreshing on a hot day. Verdict: Spring Gate has a lot to offer. Live music, food trucks, beer, and of course, wine. There's plenty to experience here and it's certainly worth checking out for yourself. Tried a couple of wines, some custom concoctions, and two of their latest beers. The best part of the cocktails was probably trying to figure out the ingredients by taste. We started strong and ended up with some guessing for the subtle flavors. Both wines were sweet. I'd try their savory varieties on a future visit. I'd never had our even heard of making a beer in a Cabernet barrel. You could certainly taste the influence of the wine. The ambiance of the winery was quite nice. The bartender carded us when we asked for water bottles which was unusual...she said she got in trouble for serving underage people water? Not sure about that. We went to this vineyard in Saturday evening, and it was the perfect evening for an outdoor concert with wine, wine slushies and a great variety of food trucks! Fun for any night of the week! A low key night, was much needed at Spring Gate. I can highly recommend a wine slushee, although they are a bit pricy. Keep your cup, and bring it back for cheap fills up next time! They are very sweet so just one will do. For wines, it's more cost efficient to buy a bottle. Most range from 12-20$. Beers on Thursday go for only 3$! They have a tasting flight which is nice when you don't know what you want. In the upper house, where the beer lives, they have some table games such as connect four and jenga. This is such a nice touch!! Went to Spring Gate for the Pumpkin Release Friday night. When I pulled in, Mr. Friendly (security) told me the lots were full and that I had to park in a field across the street. I figured, no biggie until I got to said field and realized it was literally a field that wasn't mowed or anything (it was so bumpy I felt like my car was going to fall apart). I've parked in many fields in my life, but never like this. It wasn't a HUGE deal, and I certainly wasn't going to let it ruin my night. I stood in a ridiculous line to get the coveted pumpkin cider and finally got back to my table. Maybe I misunderstood, but I thought pumpkin was the happy hour special (I was charged full price and even showed the woman the Facebook event stating happy hour and pumpkin, but was told I must have misread). The big deal was it was awful and you aren't even permitted to taste ciders anymore because they are sure you'll love them. So I wasted 16 dollars on cider that I couldn't even drink. Like literally poured it out and watched others do the same. And sure, getting a glass to taste would have been okay, if the cost of a glass wasn't roughly half the cost of my whole growler. We ended up waiting in another absolutely ridiculous line for wine because we knew we loved the raspberry merlot. Our shock when the lady told us how much it cost ($35). There used to be a sign behind the tasting bar with prices, no more. I tried to find pricing online while waiting because I knew it would be at least $25, which is perfectly acceptable to me. There weren't any prices listed online either. I wouldn't have waited in line if I would have known it was that much. I can understand it's about quality when it comes to wines, but I've had better cheaper wines not much further than Spring Gate. I'm not really sure what happened to Spring Gate because it used to be really nice to come here. We loved coming here in the past , but I think this is the end of the road. read more

This is a great place to go to get a drink or two. They also have a champagne bundling brook that I really like. The outside area is really nice and great for groups. They also have a couple beers and many different wines. The inside though does not have much space so if the weather isn't very good you may not have a seat. Most of their wines (vast majority) are very sweet. This is not necessarily a bad thing but not ideal if you want to have more than a couple drinks. Another items that took away a star is that they do not really offer food. They have a couple food trucks but they just give small average quality food for a lot more than it is worth. This is fine but without an actual kitchen they should allow you to bring your own food if you want to. read more
