This is a very beautiful venue. My boyfriend and I stopped in on a trip through the state and actually found the winery suggested on Yelp! We both did a wine tasting for $5 each tasting 6 wines each and they even had truffles you can purchase to pair with your wine. We bought a bottle of their Chamborcin red to take home. Aside from the tasting we also arrived just in time for Sangria happy hour on Thursday which was made in house with one of their whites, a ginger beer and some strawberries to top it off. It was delicious! They also had a beautiful grassy patio with tables to sit and enjoy the live music which was a jazz band when we were there. The venue itself does not service food but has local food trucks on site for wine snacking! I saw while researching that they also do many events throughout the year and the space can also be used for private events! Overall great relaxing experience and good wine to boot! read more

Now with them serving beer from their own brewery and the presence of a variety and ever changing lineup of food trucks, there's something for anybody's palate. I recently visited this winery for their "Shrimp and Scallop Feast." I was curious to see how a winery prepared food, but I came to realize they didn't. It was a catered event. No worries though, the food was still good and it included a complementary wine tasting. I am not much of a drinker, but I have started to sample wines on the recommendation of a friend. Honestly, I didn't care for too many of their selections, but the real reason I am writing this review is because the staff was so nice and accommodating. One of my friends who I typically dine with has fell onto hard times and is currently bound to a wheelchair. Still, that doesn't discourage him from tagging along when I say "let's eat." As it pertains to Spring Gate, not only did they serve samples straight to our table, there was even one gentleman who saw us coming and saved us a table; yielding much more consideration than some other places who couldn't be bothered to even get the door. Now, I don't know if he is affiliated with the winery beyond being a regular, but nonetheless we appreciated his gesture. Despite my thirst for alcohol, I do plan to keep an eye on their calendar of events and may return again for another evening out. Thanks again for being so friendly! read more

Stopped last Sunday about 1 hour after opening. No staff could be found, the place appeared very disorganized, and no busses or limos are allowed on premises. Stopped inside, there were two people at a table, but again no staff could be seen. Very disappointing. Spring Gate Vineyard is the place to be in Central Pennsylvania! They have a vast selection of quality wine, cider, and craft beer as well as food trucks and live music every night they are open. (Wednesday-Sunday) They have expanded so much during their two years of operation! Plenty of indoor and outdoor spaces, with a plethora of fire pits/heaters for chilly evenings. They have events and festivals every weekend which creates the perfect atmosphere for date nights, friendly gatherings, and catching up with old friends. Even when it's busy, the staff keeps the line moving quickly and efficiently. Staff members seem knowledgable and enthusiastic about the products they are serving. What more can you ask than people who enjoy their job serving you! Their cider and beer flights are fantastic! There is truly something for everyone to enjoy. From jenga and orange soda for the little ones to happy hours and wine slushies for the kid in all of us; this place has it all. Excited to see where Spring Gate is heading! Nice wine and nice friendly people but not happy with the operation. I'd give it 5 stars except for the following reasons. This was my second time there. We were there on a Saturday and there were three food trucks. I bought two steak sandwiches with fries. But the steak sandwiches were only 5" long. For $11 I expected a sandwich, not a half of one. I wanted a coke with that, not wine, and the truck said they were not allowed to sell coke at the winery. My only option was bottled water or the wineries own root beer. The parking is atrocious if it's busy. It's a one way driveway with minimal parking spaces in the lots. Most cars are parked along the narrow driveway. Ample mud. They need to improve that. read more

I need to take my family to a nice place for relaxing afternoon. I've never been here but chocolate and bacon festival sounded really good. Everyone was on board and we went. We arrive there and looked for the bacon and chocolate. Which we found none. When we asked somebody where the bacon was they said oh we have a food truck and we just looked at each other. And we said oh well where is chocolate I said the only chocolate we have here is our chocolate flavored wine. We said there was a bacon and chocolate festival advertised with music. They said yeah I know there's no bacon and chocolate. So immediately finding ourselves disappointed we decided to hang out for a little while and check out the food truck. We got snacks but no bacon. After hanging out for a little while we were on our way out the door. I had stopped to wait for my family to catch up and found myself to be earned by heater hanging on the wall. It was a very old fashion wall heater that was set on full blast. It was so hot it had destroyed my jacket and burnt my hair. It had been witnessed by a manager when I had brought to his attention that the heater was way too hot and it had burned through my jacket and destroyed my coat he simply stated that yes he smelled something burning and witnessed it however never approached me and never not once showed any empathy or asked me if I was OK. He told me all he could do was take my phone number. Then said if I want a faster answer to email them. He never gave me a name or contact person and never asked if I was ok. Even though you could smell my burnt hair. I then called several times to the establishment and had been told that someone would get back to me. During one my calls the staff member stated she too was burnt by that same heater. I also have e mailed them. It has been nearly 2 weeks now and the only message I got was " that was misfortunate I'm going on vacation. I can give you a gift card when I get back, if you call again." I have never experienced such concerting behavior from management of a such a large facility. All I can say is they have zero concern for their guests and have no problems displaying false advertising ! read more

I'm new to the area and love visiting wineries, so I had to check this one out since it's so close to where I live. The evening I visited they were doing their free tasting Thursday. I tried a few different wines and decided on a case of mixed flavor bubbly wines. Sooo good! I am a fan of sweeter wines so these were right up my alley. They also have a cider bar where you can try ciders and also a brewery. I didn't get a chance to check out the entertainment they had that night, but I do look forward to coming back and checking out the property when the weather gets nicer. The two ladies doing the tastings were very helpful and friendly and even though they had multiple groups for tastings, they were very attentive to all. They are very active on Facebook and they are always posting different themed weekends/days. My kind of place! It has everything that you would want for a chill night out with your hubby or friends. They also have a brewery so everyone is pleased. They had outdoor games and picnic bench seating. Visited for the first time with my wife and another couple on a Saturday in July. Spring Gate is just the kind of place we like to go on a nice summer day: lots of shaded outdoor seating under the trees, decent wine, nice selection of craft beers and live music. There are several things they could do better though. For example, our very first experience upon arriving was a very rude, surly "security" man (more like a parking lot director). His bad attitude created a terrible first impression. We did a wine tasting, and I thought the wines were well made but very few dry wines are available, almost all range from semi to very sweet. Nice selection of craft beers, but they pre-select the 4 that will be served if you order a flight of beers, no substitutions. The live music was nice, but not loud enough to hear unless you sat on the rather hot patio area - why aren't there speakers in the grassy seating area? Lastly, a minor point: ID required with every purchase. Come on, I'm way past 21 and look it. Overall, it feels like they've made numerous operational choices for the sake of efficiency, to handle a high volume of guests. Nice place to go if you're out for an afternoon or evening of partying with friends. But if you prefer a more laid back, personal-touch winery experience there are better options. read more

What a cool location! We stopped here for a bachelorette party. Love the wine tastings the girls were very knowledgeable and the wines over all were good. And love loved the food trucks! We ended up enjoying time around a fire as well. The only drawback was the bathroom situation. I know there were porta potties too but they definite need to add more indoor plumbing! Spring Gate is a fun local winery. I am so happy we have good wineries in our area and this one just happens to be down the street from my house. I have been here a number of times. I've attended an event and I've just come to have a glass. I have come for a girls night and on a date. I've come with my kids and without my kids. I've been here dressed pretty and have come after a 5k still sweaty. The thing I love about this place is that it can be the place to go on any occasion. Recently I discovered that you can also rent out rooms for private events! The atmosphere is just lovely with the farm around you and the rustic decor. They have fire pits set out for cool nights and plenty of seating around for any time of the year. The wines are good, the slushies are popular, the sangria is lovely but recently I've taken a liking to their ciders. They have so many varieties and I am surprised I enjoy them so much! They have a Bourbon barrel one, an apple one, a cranberry one, a tequila one, and a pumpkin one. There are probably more I missed but those are the ones I most recently tried and they're all delish. The staff is friendly too and they all seem to really enjoy their jobs. How could you not surrounded by all of that wine? read more

Stopped here on a Sunday afternoon to meet a friend and hang out. Such a great vibe with tables and chair that you help yourself to. You don't have to pay to get in or park which is nice. However the signage is much to be desired. It very well marked for where to order drinks. After standing in line I was told this isn't where the slushies are sold. When I said ok can I sample this wine before I buy a glass, I was told I had to wait in line at the tasting area and pay to sample all the wines. I would give it another try because it's such a great idea. It can be a bit confusing for a first timer. read more

I stopped in on a recent Sunday when they holding the Blueberry Fest. The parking was a crowded situation and I was out in a field. I was worried that it would jam packed with people but it wasn't too bad. No charge for entrance or parking which is a positive. I was able to find a seat and listen to the live music. The chairs and tables were dirty, though. Conducting a clean up before a big event would be helpful and appreciated. I purchased a wine slushie in a refillable tumbler for $15 from the Slushie bar outside. I thought the price seemed a little high. The slushie was pretty sweet. I seemed to have a lot more slush than wine in my glass because the flavor ran out well before I got 2/3's through. Signage could definitely be improved here. Having never been here before I really didn't know the lay of the land and it's not self-evident. Luckily I happened on someone offering free tastings of their Blueberry products near the driveway. As she was not busy, I asked her advice otherwise I may still be wandering around there. I figured out where to buy a bottle to take home but the line was so long I gave up and left without it. You could buy a glass of wine to consume on premise as well as a bottle to go in the same line. It was the only place to buy either. The back register and bar area was closed. Why only one line during an event? Upsides: free parking, no entrance fee, ample seating Downsides: dirty chairs and tables, lack of signage and help, long line, mediocre slushies read more

For the record, I was dragged to Spring Gate in lieu of going to brunch. The weekend in question was the shrimp and scallop feast. These are both things that I love, as is wine. How can it go wrong, right? I went with my mother, who often carries an oxygen tank. Neither of us had been here before, so we had no idea about parking. I attempted to ask the vested man about handicapped parking to which he waved his hand lazily. Ummm...thanks? Luckily I spotted a space directly in front of the entrance. For the record, it was one of three (I believe, though there may have been four) spaces available. If there were more, I have no idea. The winery themselves do not serve food; however, they do bring in outside vendors. In this respect, your mileage may vary. I saw that my fishmonger was there, so I happily waited in line for scallops. I did see a few other vendors, but I had little interest in trying their wares. I didn't do much in the way of tasting at the event. To be honest, the staff seemed completely disinterested in anything more than filling glasses. I found out more about the cider selections from people standing in line than from the people manning the casks, so to speak. I purchased two different ciders by the glass, but could not seem to find a way to purchase a bottle or growler of the things that I liked. I did purchase a bottle of white that was like drinking slightly chilled battery acid, but I tend toward reds so shame on me. The venue itself is lovely. Happily we were there fairly early in the day and the weather was perfect for sitting outside to eat. I will mention that sitting outside appeared to be the only option. I could hear music, but there was no signage to indicate what was going on where or when. Will I visit again? Probably. The cherry cider was amazing, as was the hoppy apple. There are a few more themed weekends and assorted catered functions that I'm definitely interested in checking out over the rest of the spring and summer. Will I try the wines? I'd like the option to do so, but it may not be in the cards at one of the larger functions. I feel like that would be better served in a small setting. read more

I love Spring Gate! They have a beautiful, sprawling property with lots of places to sit and chill and sip on your wine. Speaking of wine, theirs are quite tasty. Gotta love a wine slushy on a hot day. They also have fun themed events. Their marketing crew does a good job in posting said events onto Facebook, so you don't have to look hard for something to do. Lots of their events feature live music by local artists. Spring Gate has a bunch of pop up-style food vendors on their grounds, which is pretty clever.
