So instead of one appointment, it's two, and I have to wait 4 months for my contact appointment! I've been incredibly disappointed in the clinic since their acquisition by Prism, nothing positive at all!

Since second grade I've had glasses and later, contacts. I am 72 and had cataracts, astigmatism and I was near and far sighted. When I look now through my old glasses I get knocked on my a**. I'm an artist so this was inconvenient at the very least. My coke-bottle bottom glasses were wearing holes in the bridge of my nose. Dr. Skoog gave me surgery for cataracts, Medicare paid for it. At the same time I additionally had to get Toric lenses for astigmatism and they were $1100 per eye, totally worth it. Do you want to see, or don't you? Seeing is good. In case I was shaky or iffy about Dr. Skoog, my brother and some of his friends had had surgery with him. My sister-in-law researched him aggressively and found him superb.

We had several phone conversations with them to make sure they took our insurance and that things were covered. Get there and they promptly dilate my sons eyes and then say they can't do a contact exam while his eyes are dilated, oh and come to find out the insurance doesn't actually cover anything at their clinic and they want us to come back 3 more times to get him contacts but we have to pay the office visit each time. So not only did my son not get a contact exam or contacts but now we have to either go back to them and make the trip 3 more times or find somewhere else to take him (which is definitely going to be what we do) but he cant get anything today which was a total waste of time, fuel and a day off from work.

I left there feeling like I finally found a good eye doctor. My wait was 45 minutes past my appointed time, but they had quite a few severely disabled folks being seen and that made them run behind. Seems to be the norm for the larger doctor's offices anyway, so it wasn't a big deal to me. You do have to have patience in these places. I got to watch TV while I waited so that helped pass the time. The facility was exceptionally clean and well maintained. Staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. They have a high call volume and the lobby was quite full, so that told me they're quite busy which means: very good doctors!

BUT the "glaucoma eval" was 45 mins. late and was a joke -- basically just an unneeded vision check. Then the consult was 2 hours late and the surgeon decided he didn't want to the procedure we were there for that day. We ended up staying in a hotel overnight after he tried to talk us into something else entirely. The procedure worked, as our primary eye doctor was sure it would, but we were completely underwhelmed by the surgeon's "info" and recommendations and the prescription for the follow-up eye drops was never even sent to the pharmacy! All told, this office cost us 4 hours of waste time, $150 for a hotel, and a lot of confidence. We will NEVER go there again.

The day of surgery, the team took great care of me, making me very comfortable awaiting my turn. The procedure was professionally handled, and efficiently completed. It was also effective as I now have 20/15, coming from 20/50. So no more squinting to read road signs! And I get to wear my sunglasses whenever(if you have to wear glasses, you know this is a big deal). The instructions for post op care are clear. I was expected to be around 20/40 which I was happy with but after full healing I ended up with 20/20! I believe these results were due to all the testing they did to make sure I was a good candidate. Plus the skill of the surgeon along with having the best laser technology. The entire team at LasikPlus did a great job with communication, scheduling, and answering any of my questions. The ophthalmologist at Seattle Children's Hospital and multiple optometrists after that all missed it. Spokane Eye Clinic Valley did an *amazing* job. Dr. Ellis caught the double-vision right off the bat, and was able to give me a prescription for prism glasses that fully correct that, my astigmatism, and my near-sightedness. Her professionalism, kindness, patience, and knowledge, as well as that of her staff, was quite refreshing. She made sure my prescription was exactly what I needed, and even made the necessary adjustments a month later (commonly necessary with new prism lenses) without charging for the visit. Now I have my 3D vision back, and my double vision is gone! Alongside that, the office staff and opticians are all friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. They worked with my insurance, and handled everything wonderfully. I cannot recommend Spokane Eye Clinic Valley more highly. I did not end up going to my appointment because I did not have another hour to go and sit around. Terrible place - they were not like this but they were bought out and now run by a different group. Go somewhere else. I am hoping they do not bill my insurance for this since I did not leave anywhere past the waiting room. The girls who came out did not apologize, did not take accountability, and just stared at me when I asked why I was not notified of the delays.
