I almost never write reviews but felt compelled to do so after myj experience with Spokane Optic…read more After having my prescription updated via a Optometrist I ordered some Ray Ban sunglasses with the new prescription. When they came back I could not see/focus with them so Spokane Optical sent them back to have them corrected. Long story short, they had to send them back three times and I still could not see with them. I took them back again and they told me they wouldn't send them back a fourth time. I appealed the decision to their administrators and they said they would not send them back again. Each time the sun glasses came back the prescription was changed. So I got stuck with a $700 pair of sunglasses that I can't even use. I would not go back to the north office ever again. Try another vendor.

I took my prescription to this optical shop in the same building where I had my exam and where I had purchased glasses before. I found a decent frame and ordered glasses. I wear bifocals and am required to wear glasses while driving. Because the lenses were to be coated, I was told the lab would take 2 weeks, based on the insurance I have. That seemed excessive to me but I did not have an alternative. Two weeks later, the glasses arrived at their shop. When I got there to be fitted, it turns out that the glasses were improperly made, presumed to be from a wrong measurement for the bi-focal line. The employee said she must have measured for tri-focals. Maybe or maybe not, but the glasses were sent back to the lab. I asked for a "rush" and was told it should be another week. That has now past. I called and was told the glasses should be here by the end of this week. That is FOUR WEEKS to get much needed glasses, twice as long because of their error (in the measuring or in the manufacture). The employees said they are directed to send the order to the lab dictated by my insurance company (VSP). That may be, but there SHOULD be some recourse to expedite orders, particularly when it was their error. I'll also be contacting VSP about this service.

Dr. Fairborn and the office team are nice and have obviously been trained in customer service…read more However, at my last eye exam, I had some kind of allergic reaction to one of the drops I was given and came in the following day for a quick follow up to my regular exam to figure out why my eyes were red and the skin around them completely blistered. I'd been told "come in if you have any issues!" So I did, but was not told that this would be considered a new visit - and it was charged to my insurance company and incurred an additional $50 copay that I was never informed about until I got the invoice in the mail. It would seem like if you have a strong reaction to something that happened during their treatment, you would be seen without it incurring another charge. OR at least you would be informed of such. The glasses that my husband and I ordered from them scratched easily despite paying extra for scratch protection - and I only ever used the cloth given to me. After shopping around we realized we could have saved hundreds going elsewhere. Also keep in mind that one of their employees is "hands on" - that is will touch your shoulder, arm or get into your personal space. While I'm generally really easy going, it happened often enough and bothered me enough to have to ask to have someone else help me - the request was granted, but the nurse I spoke to acted like I was being unreasonable for making the request, and i had to continue to make the request every time I came in - apparently it was not noted in my file. I hate giving negative reviews, but thought it might help others to share my experience. I will be taking my business elsewhere and encourage others to do so as well.

I just moved to town, and my last pair of contacts ripped as I was taking them out for the evening…read more I called several other optometrists in the area and requested a pair of samples, explaining that I had my current prescription and would purchase a box of contacts from them. Those places all declined to provide a sample pair unless I had an exam, even though I explained I had my current prescription. When I called Northside, Megan answered the phone. She was fabulous! She asked me what my prescription was, found that they had samples, and provided them to me after purchasing a box of contacts, exactly what I needed! When I arrived at the store, a receptionist warmly greeted me and explained that Megan would be right with me. I sat in their lovely waiting room for a minute before Megan got me my samples and ordered me a six-month supply, all for tremendously cheaper than I had paid for that same box at other stores in the past! Megan solved a major problem for me in minutes and with great kindness and respect. The customer service at Northside Vision Center is truly fabulous, and they've made a lifelong customer out of me!

She explained each procedure as well as what the tests were for. I that love GVS has the option to use an optos machine (around $42 sliding scale) that takes a picture of the back of your eye to check your eye health if you don't want to get your eyes dilated. I hate having weird vision for 2-3 hours so I opted to pay for the optos imaging which took less than a minute! They also have a different machine to check eye pressure that isn't the puff of air :) O.D. Glennie was super kind during my eye exam and also answered all the questions and concerns I had. I chose to do a contact lenses consultation which cost me $70 ($60 once you become a recurring patient) they also have potential rebates for contact lenses. All in all I got out of there with insurance for $123 ($70 consult + $25 co pay + $26 sliding scale for optos and tax ) Just some info I asked about as well (as of 11/22/2024) They take State insurance: - Community health (for patients 20 and younger) - Coordinated care (but not AM better) Cost without insurance: $207 eye exam with dilation or $247 if you opt for the optos machine instead of dilation

It had been awhile since I had been to an…read moreoptometrist, and I had some eye problems I was concerned with due to a thyroid condition that affected my eyes. Tamara was great in performing my pre-tests and Dr. Shurtz quickly put my mind at ease regarding the changes in my eyes since my last prescription. One of the real gems in their office is Jackie, the optician. I hate choosing glasses and my last pair of glasses were ugly and didn't fit right, so I seldom wore them and used readers. Jackie was incredible in kindly educating me regarding my choices and helped me select a great pair of progressive lens glasses (from a surprising selection) and I got a pair of driving glasses at the same time. She is a lot of fun to work with. One of the first things I noticed when I changed from readers to glasses was how clear everything looks! I should have done this way earlier. I highly recommend these guys and will be back again next year.
