ZERO CUSTOMER EMPATHY - please stay away! This has been my worst consumer experience of my lifetime. I'm always a supporter of a small business, but this business owner has zero customer empathy and customer centricity. I booked through Classpass, and wasted 2 hours of my Sunday in going and coming - but they didn't have the staff present at the salon. They deflected the blame completely on Classpass for accepting the appointment. After a lot of discussion, they agreed to reschedule my appointment to the next day, but called up in the morning to say that the staff cannot make it because of a doctor's appointment. Didn't they know about the appointment the day before? I gave them multiple options to address the situation, but the owner just didn't want to bother. Eventually, she stopped replying to my texts completely and did not respond to my calls. I hate to write a negative review for a small business, but the owner just does not want to communicate, and doesn't take ownership for running her business - it is either Classpass's fault, or her staff's. Tanya Hair salon was an establishment in Mountain View. she was located on Castro& El Camino near Rose Market. they started the construction there and all shops were demolished. I was really wondering where Mary is. Luckily her phone number didn't change (650-966-1710) and she is renting a chair here in this nice salon. I came with my daughter for a haircut and got the same great treatment and care like the old good days. this salon is really nice. they have other services and the other ladies are nice too. MIXED BAG. Came in without an appointment on October 3, 2014, requesting a pedicure. This was the first time I have been here and no one had recommended it to me, it was simply close to where I was (I actually intended to go somewhere else but got a little lost). Tanya was finishing up a manicure with another client (an older woman and a regular). Tanya said she could fit me in before her next appointment, and even called that client to move the appointment back a half hour so she wouldn't have to rush, very nice of her! The steam sauna instead of a hot water bath is really unique. Tanya is a talker in general, and I agree with other reviewers that she was gently trying to sell me on the other services/staff of the salon. I didn't let her know that really I just wanted to sit back quietly and relax, but I should have. So that's my fault. I did eventually close my eyes and get some quiet time. : ) Tanya did not spend very much time cleaning up and filing my nails or cuticles, commenting that I was young and my feet are in good shape. I appreciate the compliment, but I was disappointed because I love it when someone really cleans up my cuticles and nail beds thoroughly and carefully shapes them, which most nail technicians do - even for standard $20 pedicures (I am comparing generally, but also to Mountain View Hair and Nails near Castro Street where I have had several pedicures this year). My left big toenail hurt the past few days. I don't think it is infected, but I just cut/filed the nail after realizing it was very pointy and sharp on left side, instead of rounded. I didn't see tool sterilization bags and am not sure what her practices are for nail files, toe separators (she used foam ones vs disposable tissue) and other tools. The foot scrub and massage were nice and didn't feel too rushed, but were below expectations considering this was a $45 pedicure. read more

I usually come here to do my nails and threading with Tanya and she and everyone else in there are always so friendly. Its like a second family to me. Tanya is very busy as she have many clients and sometimes you have to wait a few minutes extra, but with that service, all I can say it's totally worth the wait. Besides since I am going to a beauty salon to get pampered and relax then why should I be in a hurry? Coming to spoil me spa is like a therapy session meanwhile you get your nails and hair done. You are always well taken care of. Also to notice though- this place is probably not for the quick fix or bargain hunters. Many Asian beauty salons does it quick, you pay little but to the expense of the service. It all depends in what you are looking for. This place however, I would rather say that if you want to have a nice relaxing time, meanwhile getting pampered and get the real value for what you are paying then I would highly recommend spoil me spa. read more

Originally came here because of a Groupon, $90 for 3 mani-pedi's. Good deal right?!! At the time, they claimed that this service was worth $210, so that means $70 for a mani-pedi. Let me start off by saying this is not a $70 mani-pedi place, maybe more like $45 AT THE MOST. So, yes it was still a good deal. But, will I be returning to pay regular price? That is a solid No. This is what happened on my first visit: Tanya starts work on my hands and begins telling me that I'm taking great care of them and that I should continue doing whatever it is I'm doing with them. Okay, thanks. Then she starts eyeing my face. Oh joy, something's brewin'. She proceeds to tell me that I need to grow out my eyebrows for at least a few months and that I need to stop waxing/plucking them. Apparently they are too thin for my big face. Wow. She had even more opinions about the state of my hair & skin, but I'll save myself more embarrasment & keep those to myself. I'm sure you get the gist of it. ;) Tanya is very talkative and can be friendly, if she could just simmer down on all the free "advice". I felt like she thinks she knows everything and you are lucky to be sharing in her knowledge. I also felt her overkill on trying to sell me on her other services such as a facial, massage, threading, etc. I understand it's your business and you want to inform me of what else you can offer. BUT, I felt like I was at a car dealership and I don't want to buy all those accessories! Okay?!! I might have been able to give 4 stars because I did feel the quality of her mani-pedi was great. But geez... these visits were not relaxing or enjoyable because she CANNOT put the brakes on all the talking and advice-giving! I'm actually relieved that my 3 visit Groupon is over with, at least I got a good deal on that service! My advice if you want more clients to return... lower your prices and SHHHHHHH! read more

KIM IS AMAZING! I hadn't gotten my hair professionally dyed or gotten a haircut in over 5 years until today. I came in with gross damaged bleached hair and Kim completely transformed it. I asked for pink and/or purple and I just told her "do whatever, I trust you", and BAM I have the most incredible hair I have ever had in my entire life! Funky purple pink fuchsia magenta ombre! THIS IS A ONE STOP SHOP!! They spoiled me all in one day to get me ready for my birthday party that same night! TANYA did my threading, she did my entire face, including eyebrows, everything turned out amazing, she did it around her neck which is much more sanitary then those disgusting ladies who put it through their teeth... ew! NEXT, I got my hair done by LEE LEE! She washed my hair and gave me the best scalp massage, omg it was so relaxing! She gave me one of the best blow out i have ever had. I recently had my Groupon European Facial with Angelina. It was relaxing and my skin looks great. She cleared my pores and did a Vitamin C treatment that refreshed my skin. What I really like about working with Angelina is her consultation. She really educates me on skincare what she's doing throughout the facial (but not in an intrusive way). I appreciate my hair stylist very much!!! What definitely affects my appraisal is the one stylist that brings her small dog to the spa, to be with her free range while she works w her own clients. The dog is very small n shy but does seem to warm up w her customers. When i have an appointment, this little guy loosely circles my feet as i walk past his/her owner to my own chair for a haircut. Probably a nice little dog but in reality, i m afraid of tripping and/ or falling over the dog. I m nearing my retirement age and i think businesses that provide human services should tell their employees to keep their pets home. I expressed my concerns to the owner who responded that she understands how I feel but the dog will continue being at her salon!!! She expressed losing her own dog and thinks that most people like appreciate the dog being at the salon. I know if another customer that is choosing another salon as am I. When a dog supercedes the interest of a customer, its obvious what matters most and its not the customer. read more

If I could give ZERO stars I would. This salon should be called "insult me" salon, not "spoil me" salon. I tried to book a facial today with ANGELINA using a Groupon, and in the process of trying to correct a booking error with the salon's website, I had the profound misfortune of dealing with her on the phone. I have NEVER experienced such rude, unprofessional behavior from a service provider in my life. Angelina has NO concept of the axiom, "the client is always right." EVERYTHING is the client's fault. The pathetic thing is that she could have easily fixed the scheduling error (I was available at the time she was suggesting to move the appointment), but instead of being polite and accepting that there may be a problem with the salon website, she proceeded to lecture me, talk over me, blame me, and berate me. To make matter worse, after I hung up she continued to harass me by text! Here are some "gems" from her texts: "you just sound cheap" (apparently we who use Groupon are "cheap" in her eyes) "uneducated consumer" "learn to read before you buy cheap products" "this is why I hate discounting my services to you cheap clients" I've read other reviews of this salon, and it sounds like Angelina's colleagues aren't much better. No surprise there, "birds of a feather flock to together" and all...So, unless you're in the mood to be insulted and mistreated, find another place for your salon services. read more

The ladies at spoil me are amazing. They're all friendly and they all listen to what you want. They really just want to take care of you while you are here (I say this while sitting in the massage chair for thepast hour doing homework while having tea brought to me as I showed up an hour early) Tanya does my eye brows. She likes her clients to have thicker eyebrows, but will listen to you if you want them a bit thinner. Kim does my hair. She wants to make sure you like it so she will take her time before doing something drastically different from what you'd normally get. Angelina does my facials. She doesn't push products on you and gives great advice on how small changes in daily routines that can make a difference for your skin. I used to pluck/wax my eyebrows and face before I learnt that it wasn't good for your skin. Once I learned that threading was better for the skin I've been searching for the right threading place in the mountain view/palo alto area. I've tried a few places in the area but each time I threaded my eyebrows and my face...I would break out. My skin was getting bad and I was getting marks on my face. Once I found Tanya everything changed! She's excellent at what she does. She takes the time to treat all your needs. Every time I've seen her I've always walked away feeling satisfied. Spoil Me Salon has a very friendly staff! I had my hair done by Leelee, and she is awesome. She really listens to your needs, makes great suggestions, and executes well. I have thinning hair, and she was able to make it look voluminous. It's pretty rare for me to feel really happy or confident after leaving a salon, but Leelee made me feel great about my hair! I have been going to Spoil Me Salon at their previous and current location for over 15 years. I've had my hair done by Azita a few times and she always makes me look like a princess. Now for Tanya! She is the only one I trust with threading my face and eyebrows. Every time she will shape my eyebrows perfectly and show me tips on how to maintain them on my own, with the result that I can wait up to 6 months before I need them touched up again. When I've had my upper lip threaded or waxed by other people it has hurt like the Hades and I Always get breakouts/pimples. It has now been 3 days since my latest upper lip threading by Tanya and no breakouts at all. Tanya is also the only one I trust with doing my manicure and pedicure. Many years ago I had a mani/pedi at a local to me salon and 2 months later I had toenail fungus in one of my toes. Needless to say that scared me so much I completely stopped getting my nails done. Since then I've had Tanya do my nails and have been happy ever since. She takes the time to do a great job with complete hygiene while advising me how to take good care of my nails and hands/feet. I recently got my nails done at Spoil me Spa salon and Tanya made a wonderful job. I have been coming here for over two years now getting my nails and threading done, and she always gives me exactly what I ask for, and she educates me about my hands and feets and how to take care of myself. Many nail places I have been to before they keep gossiping and talking about a bunch of nonsense which is not interesting to me at all, and Tanya do talks alot at times, but its for my benefit and she is helping me a lot... However I think the communication is part of the job. But sometimes I'm tired and just want to relax then I let her know. I usually get shellac mani and it last me about 3 weeks which is wonderful! Came for a facial with Angelina, was offered the price of the groupon, but booked directly and not via groupon. Excellent facial, great service. But I am glad I didn't give it 5 stars right then. A true professional honors her commitments and is sincere in her work. With a groupon I was blown off. I made an appointment via styleseat 2 weeks in advance. Just couple of hours before my appointment, Angelina texted me that she cannot make it. She claimed to have sent me an email which I never received. I had an event coming up for which I needed the facial. First I was told she can't do Mondays, when I said I can come on Tuesday, Angelina told me she can't come to the salon the entire week! Wrote to groupon and got my refund. From the reviews looks like other groupon customers have had a bad experience too. I've been coming to get my eyebrows threaded by the owner/manager, Tanya, who I practically consider one of my friends. When I first came into the salon, I came just as a tag along with my friend who came to get her eyebrows and lip threaded. I only use to get my eyebrows waxed in this Salon in Palo Alto, but Tanya really convinced me to try threading. She had such a warm kind, tone of voice, not pushy at all, very understanding and welcoming. For sure Tanya is that kinda person to count on for eyebrows, for she was very reassuring when she was threading my eyebrows for the first time, letting me know everything she was going to do. The after results of my first time getting them threaded and anytime after I got them threaded by look AMAZING ! ! Plus every time I come to see Tanya we continue to have warming, funny conversations making my day. Same goes for all the workers, I've gotten my hair trimmed or cut several times, by this guy named Matt, very friendly, always giving kind sincere compliments. Although I have only seen two workers, in my opinion, it seems that ALL the workers here are super reliable and nice. The workers here are not those types that give fair prices and working cheaply. This place is amazinggg! All of te employes do a great job and are very very talented. I rarely do my nails but when I do it's a definate must to come see Tanya. She does her Job like no other. What I love about her work is that she is that she handles your hands and feet with a lot of care(no pulling whatsoever or anything unpleasant ). You feel soooo relaxed while she is pampering you. She has over 24 years experience and her specialty is manis and pedis. Also what I love about her is that she uses nail filers to make a rough surface instead of using the driller which I absolutely dislike bc when the my nails fall off , my real nail is really brittle and weak. She listens to my instructions and over the last few months has "nursed" my eyebrows back to a healthy shape - exactly to my specifications. Angelina who does facial here has a policy at that is ridiculous! I got an appt here with a groupon for a facial. Woke up morning of the appt with a flu and tried to reschedule. Not cancel but RESCHEDULE and she goes on to inform me that because I have a groupon, she has to charge me for 50% of the full price for ReScheduling. So my options are to get a facial while I have 101.7 degree fever( which she said no to:) or contest this! Most places allow you to RESCHEDULE when it's an emergency!
