I have been getting my hair done by Laura for years and would not change it! She knows her colors! I can always count on her to cut my hair to shape my face. Also does a fabulous job styling!! Love the salon, everyone is super friendly. read more

Amazing salon!! I have never been disappointed!! Jenny is the best....from cut to color, you can't do better.

We have been going to Laura for years. 3 girls with long hair, cut and color. She's the absolute best. Really takes the time to hear what you want and also offers options in case you want to change it up. She is an expert in the art of hair care and always is up to date on the latest styles. (I will be so mad if this post means I can't get an appointment in the future ) read more

I saw Jenny for color. I went in not really knowing how to explain the look, so I brought a magazine photo. My hair was a wreck - four inches of brown roots next to platinum blonde..eek! Jenny understood exactly what I wanted. She cancelled her appointment after me and got to work! Hours later, I spun around in that chair and almost cried. I looked so pretty! My hair color was PERFECT. I said, "Jenny, you nailed it!", with a huge smile on my face! The color was beautiful, shiny, and I was glowing. She added a free bang-trim too. How could it get any better?! I'll never see anyone else for color. Jenny has an analytical mind and creative ideas, making her just flawless. The funny conversation throughout was effortless, too, and I felt like family when I walked out that door. Epic experience! read more

Solstice Salon - Bye-bye roots! - Hair Salons Near Me - Mountain View, California

Carrie is amazing! As a first time waxer for under arms, Carrie walked me through the process, addressing my concerns and answering my million questions. :) She is a pleasure to talk to and get to know, her services are top notch, and prices reasonable. I would highly recommend her services to anyone! read more

I have been a Solstice customer for more than 3 years now. I have been seeing Carrie and Bob and have absolutely loved them both and have had nothing but great experiences. Carrie has been my esthetician and has been great. I go to her to get my brows done. At first she worked with me to figure out the shape and how much hair i wanted to keep or get rid of. She ensured I was very happy with the results from the very beginning and has continued great service every appointment since. She is the kind of person who will not let you leave until you are happy and have had a great experience. Leaving satisfied is not even a question it is just the standard she holds herself to. She is very accommodating with scheduling and moving appointments and strives to find a time that works best for everyone. I have never met a person who so thoroughly enjoys doing her job and she does love it; her warm and welcoming personality helps too. Bob has been cutting my hair well, ever since I decided to leave the at-home bowl cut - well - at home. I have extremely straight hair and it was impossible to style. He helped train my hair such that it could be styled and advised me on products that would help suite my hair style better. Bob has a wonderfully warm personality and is there to ensure you have the best hair experience you can. I have no plans or intentions or looking elsewhere and highly recommend both Carrie and Bob. read more

The energy at Solstice is warm and welcoming. I decided to give them a shot after reading several positive yelp reviews. I got an appointment with Jenny for a brazilian blowout and asked her several questions even after scheduling the appointment several times on the phone and she was always helpful with answers that were unbiased and honest. When I walked into the saloon I liked how clean and roomy it was. Jenny shampooed my hair for 15 mins which is part of the process, then applied the blowout ingredients and dried my hair for about half hour, then blowdried it. She gave me a trim and styled my hair after. I chose to wash my hair the next morning and it the process left my hair shiny and relaxed. I loved our friendly banter during the entire process. Jenny offered me a cool drink, gave me cookies to eat and gave me information on several local events which are great for me as I am relatively new in Mountain view. She also gave me a 20% off on the products I bought as I wanted to make the blowout last for 3-4 months and also told me that they will trim my bangs for free as long as I am their customer. Another solid reason to keep going back. I also checked in on yelp while there and know that I have a discount on a brazilian wax, can't wait to get that one ticked off ;) Go enjoy a wonderful saloon that pampers you and genuinely cares about you! read more

I've been going to Soraya for probably 10 years now. She's a terrific colorist, and has transitioned me from brownish ugly to several years of such a natural red that people were surprised that it wasn't my own. A few years ago she eased me into blond, by adding more highlights each time. Again, very natural. She's cut my hair for so long she knows how much daily styling I'm capable of; she tried to talk me out of a cut she knew I wouldn't be able or willing to take the time to maintain. Needless to say, she was right. My husband has been going to Soraya for at least 5 years now, and she does a great job with his fine hair. He never has that "just had a haircut" look that looks weird for a couple of days. I haven't used any of the other services, so I can't comment on them. read more

I went to Solstice to make that infamous transition from brunette to blonde... I came out still a brunette. Because of that, i give four stars to an otherwise great salon! Soraya was clearly a hair-coloring expert, working four colors into my darker brown locks. She took the time to make my highlights look natural, which I really appreciate. I have to say I was a little disappointed that I didn't come out blonde, as I'd intended, but the job Soraya did was so artful and high-quality that I really can't complain! I also really loved the vibe at the salon- you can tell the stylists and patrons love each other, and though I'm still trying out other salons, it's definitely a community that anyone would want to be a part of. read more

Ok Yelp really needs to get a category beyond 5 stars when something is truly exceptional and believe me my experience was. Carrie is the Wax Whisperer. NEVER EVER in my 15 years of waxing have I had one this good. No pain, my legs are buttery soft and not a single bit of skin irritation. I have the type of freakish skin that wax just tears and burns no matter what product we try but not this time.Just amazing, even beat the wax job I had at Sonya Dakar in Hollywood. I just want my hair to hurry up and grow faster so I can go back sooner. BEYOND FABULOUS!!! A MUST TRY!! read more

I have done waxing here, and one haircut. CARRIE IS THE BEST WAXER EVER. So thorough, does what she can to minimize the pain, and always checks to make sure you are happy in the end. Very clean, too, and professional Plus, she has an amazing personality, great when you are doing more private waxing. We laugh like crazy the whole time and have so much fun talking-- we can barely get everything in we want to talk about! I actually look forward to my waxes, because the results are perfect and Carrie is an absolute blast! read more

Carrie is a wonderful esthetician! Her technique of waxing doesn't hurt at all, and she's very accommodating with fitting me into her schedule. She waxes you in the privacy of her own room inside the salon. Her room is very clean and she is very thorough as she expertly gets the ingrown hairs without leaving a mark! Carrie also does facials, which helped with my complexion. She never tries to up-sell you something you don't need. Jenny cuts my hair exactly how I want and styles it so nicely that I wish she could do my hair for me everyday! She is very thorough and efficient, and shampoos/cuts/styles all in 45 min or less! She only takes cash, which is a bummer, but there's an ATM next door. I always call to make an appointment, as I never do walk-ins to a salon. I highly recommend these two, but also this entire salon because everyone has their own style (NO ONE's snotty either) and I see great hair coming out of this place all the time! read more

Gloria did an incredible job on the hairstyle for my, my mom, and my bridesmaids on my wedding day last weekend in Gilroy. A few months beforehand, she did an awesome trial on my hair and right away was able to make it look just right! Gloria is calm, patient, kind, and communicated with me throughout my wedding planning process to know what hairstyles the bridesmaids were going for and what their hair was like naturally so she could plan accordingly. Each one wanted a different look and each hairstyle looked very beautiful. She was the perfect hairstylist to have on my wedding day and I am looking forward to having Gloria style my hair in the future. Thank you, Gloria! read more

I love this place! Recently went in for a facial and lip wax with Atefeh. Very clean and honestly the only facial I've ever gotten where I was genuinely relaxed. Atefeh was amazing! She gave me a neck and shoulder massage which is included and the extractions part was the most thorough I have ever experienced. My skin looks and feels amazing! I will definitely be coming back! read more

Me: Girl with long locks with a sh*t ton of split ends that dyes her hair every 3-4 months. Soraya: My hair stylist yesterday who had the decency to tell me that I needed to trim off more than 2 inches yesterday. I don't know when it happened, but I became one of those girls who gave up style for length. Those girls with the Rapunzel hair-do with a billion split ends. Eh, you get the point. So I went in to see Soraya for the first time yesterday and asked her for a trim, but then she recommended trimming off 3-4 inches to capture all the split ends. I wanted to keep my hair long, but alas I knew she was right and I needed it. She went ahead and chopped off my hair and dyed my roots (I have an abnormal amount of grey hairs...damn genes). She also cleaned up my layers and framed my face with some new layers. She used scissors for everything and used a comb-like scissor to shape up, not a razor). I ended up with a fresh cut and feeling like a huge burden was lifted. She missed some of my greys so her dye job was not fantastic, therefore she loses a star. Soraya is also a sweet woman that reminds you of a mom. I think it's also because she kept calling me dear. She can carry a conversation but isn't yapping your head off. read more

I moved to the Bay 3 months ago and I've been on a mad hunt to find a colorist that could live to my NYC standards. I've been disappointed multiple times by so many mediocre salons in the bay. I went to Soraya because a coworker of mine recommended her. All I have to say is if you want the perfect color look no further than Soraya. I had brought in a picture (the same pic I had brought to all other salons) to her. I was looking to go back from my drab dark brown natural hair color to the light warm brown I had loved having two years ago. Soraya took one look at my pic and worked her magic mixing colors and processing my hair differently at my roots and the rest of my hair. I ended up with exactly the hair color I wanted. If you want someone who can deliver at giving you what you want- look no further than Soraya. She is a true artist and a very sweet person! read more

It's hard to get a good men's cut - especially when you have curly hair - and Soraya is does an exceptional job every time. Plus she's so warm, loving and welcoming that just visiting with her is a pleasure. Cute Zen vibe and just a lovely group of people at this charming salon. read more

I just had my first facial ever. Carrie was very gentle and caring during my one hour facial. I was relaxed and made to feel so comfortable. I am hooked and can't wait to schedule another one in a couple months! Thanks so much Carrie for being the true professional that you are. Keep up the great work! read more

Solstice Salon - A messy/slow/side bun by Gloria. I love it! - Hair Salons Near Me - Mountain View, California

I recently got a bad haircut and needed someone to fix it for me - I wandered into this salon on a walk after work, met Jenny, and she told me to return in 15 minutes and she could fit me in for a quick dry cut. She did just that and actually didn't even charge me... amazing service for someone who isn't even her client (but now I sure will be). Tip: if you want an appointment, stop by the salon to make the first one as they don't have a receptionist all the time, hence the reviews where people can't get a hold of them to make appointments. Once you have a stylist, they can share their card with you with their direct #. read more

I've been going to Atefeh for facials, waxing and threading for two years now! She is really fast with threading and waxing, making sure the painful parts aren't drawn out. I've never had any issues with irritation afterwards, nor have I left unhappy with my brows! As for her facials, they're extremely relaxing. Atefeh uses the best products and works with her clients to really identify what's best for their skin. She is thorough and listens to customers requests, while also providing tips and tricks to keep skin looking great outside of appointments. I am extremely happy with everything we have tried and how my skin looks now! read more

Jenny rocks! She has been doing my hair for over 20 years. She is personable, funny, does amazing things with my hair, and will go out of her way for her clients. I broke my pelvis and couldn't drive. She came to my house to do my color and cut. I love going to my hair appointments! read more

I don't think I could say enough nice things about this salon. I am dear friends with everyone in this place and have been for many years. The atmosphere is one of a family, warm, inviting, loving, caring and full of fun. Each individual with their own unique personality blends well with eachother. For a small salon they offer the best of all practices: hairstyling, waxing, manicures/pedicures, facials and even electrolisys. Jenny (co-owner) has done my hair now for well over 17 years and has never steered me wrong. She's great at suggesting new styles and colours to fit/match your personality or mood. Don't get me wrong, the other stylests there are just as fantastic with their own special talents and have all been in the industy for plenty of years so no worry of a novice cutting your locks. I recommend any one of them (Jenny, Kathy, Bob, Soriah or Lisa). Please remember to make an appointment, Jenny is especially busy throughout the year and making an appointment will ensure that you get a time slot you really want. Carrie is the esthetician there and is fantastic. She has this full of energy personality and after speaking with her once you will feel like you've known her for years. She is very good at her facials and she can either do her skill in silence or chat up a storm with you, which ever you prefer. I know that everytime I have been in there to get a facial or waxing, I leave in tears! Not tears of pain, but of laughter!!! We have such a great time during my appointment when we walk out of her room the other stylists are asking the both of us what possibly could we have been talking about to make us laugh so hard! It's a great time all around! Parvaneh and Le are the nail techs and they are just fantasic at what they do. They take their time, make sure you get what you want and are perfectionists at their skill. They friendly, always smiling and very good. As I said at the beginning of this review, I don't think I could say enough nice things about this salon. Ok, maybe one more.....if you want a great haircut, fantasic color, some waxing and a facial and get a manicure and pedicure....this is definitely a place to visit!!! read more

This place is really wonderful. Jenny, the owner, always makes you feel so welcome, like you're an old friend dropping by. It's a warm and friendly environment. The ladies are all sweet, nice, and stylish but unpretentious. The best stylists there in my opinion are either Jenny (difficult to get an appointment with) or Soraya. It's the only place I go. My only complaint is that I'm usually a spur of the moment kind of salon girl, and they are way too booked for that. You gotta book your time with them at least a week or two in advance. It's worth it! read more

This is the first unsatisfied review I've ever written, but I feel like Carrie ripped me off for a long time and I just want people to be aware before choosing her to wax you. I was referred to Carrie by my boyfriend at the time who was good friends with her. I had never had a brasiian and she said it would be $50. She did a good job and I gave her a very generous tip. The next time I went, she said she had raised her brasilian rate to $75! I paid it, but was like wow, that was a big hike. She said if I referred friends I would get a discount. I referred two people and I never got any discount. In fact, she charged my one friend $90 for a brasilian because Carrie thought she was "annoying and weird!" Carrie also takes forever to wax you! My average appointment time was 90 min to 2 hrs for a brasilian! Her charges were all over the board. Sometimes $70, sometimes $80. I realized that Carrie was charging everyone differently depending on how much she thought she could get from you. Finally, someone suggested European Wax Center which only charges $42 for a brasilian (and $21 for your first time there)! They do a great job and it only takes 15 min! Don't waste your time and money seeing Carrie. She will not reward your loyalty or your good-tipping. read more

Just have to share how much I enjoy my appt's with Carrie!! She is so thorough with my waxing, lash & brow tinting! Have been seeing her for over 6 years and not only is she a true professional, she has also become a dear close friend! Best service and her prices are very reasonable! Have referred 4 friends over the years and all are still loyal clients & very happy with their services!! Solstice salon is simply the best!!!! read more

I've tried for two days to make an appointment. I've left two messages, so really I can't say anything about quality of work. I have been trying because of the great reviews, so I'm sad to leave a bad one. The customer service for me isn't good. I don't think it should be this difficult to talk to a real person to make an appointment. read more

I have been seeing Jenny for about 14 years. I have never ever had anyone cut and do my better than she does. I lived in San Francisco for about 2 years, and I would drive to Mountain View just to see her. I even tried to have my hair cut in places in San Francisco when she was busy. Sure there were places that worked just fine, but I still always come back to have Jenny do it! read more

Jenny has been styling my hair for over three years now and I have no complaints. She is fun, creative and very good at what she does. She is also very fast. I can go in at lunch and be back to work in an hour with a new do (wash, dry, cut and style) every time. She also does my lowlights and has always done a great job with the color. The salon itself is always clean and the vibe is friendly and upbeat. I have not tried the other services but as far as hair styling goes - two thumbs up! They are really great and I highly reccomend them. read more

Carrie is the best Brazilian bikini waxer out there! She is extremely professional, efficient and gets the job done with less pain than others. Her wax (hard wax) is by far much better quality than the less expensive strip waxes but it best for sensitive parts of our skin, such as our hoohaa. Carrrie's personality is hilarious; as much as waxing is not fun, I always look forward to seeing Carrie!!!!
