I returned recently only because Mina, my amazing nail tech, now rents a station here. Mina is the only reason I come. She's meticulous, professional, and consistently delivers beautiful nails and waxing services. I trust her completely. That said, I find it unfair that the owner doesn't allow renters like Mina to take walk-ins, even though she's independent and incredibly talented. Avoid at all costs. I had a truly awful eyelash extensions experience with Heidi. There's a reason why she barely has any positive reviews for her eyelash extensions. Every eyelash attached hurt like hell, making me tear up throughout the appointment and making it difficult for the lashes to cure. I wanted to remove them, but Heidi insisted it was fine. Still, I could barely see when I drove home. Half of the extensions on one eye were gone after one week -- for $120, it's insane that I had to remove them so quickly afterwards. The worst part? The D curls looked terrible and nothing like the reference I had shown. After two weeks, I got my botched extensions removed at Face n Lash in Mountain View. The tech took great pains to tell me that the extensions had damaged my eyelashes due to a lack of proper isolation between each eyelash. She advised me not to go back to the salon due to the results she was seeing. I reached out to the salon with my grievances, and the staff suggested I ask Heidi for a discount. Heidi at first did not offer any consolation and suggested I come in for a fill -- except she would be out of town for two weeks, which was too long to have botched lash extensions. After the tech who repaired my lashes explicitly commented on the poor quality of Heidi's work, I made the decision to instead leave a detailed review on Yelp so that no one else experiences the tedious process I went through. I went to Diane for a woman's haircut, shampoo, and blow dry for the first time this past weekend. I was a new customer from Yelp, as I was looking to get a haircut and am new-ish to the area. I chose Diane because I saw all of the amazing reviews about her and her expertise in doing long layers. However, I was pretty disappointed with the experience. First, I made my appointment for 1:30pm and arrived on time, but when I got there, they immediately asked me if my appointment was at 2pm and I answered, No it's for 1:30pm. Diane was still working on a man's haircut and they asked me to wait a little. That's no worries. They got me in the chair at 1:45pm and moved the man to another chair. She instructed me to sit in the same chair that the man was sitting in and did not sweep up any of this hair off the ground and quickly brushed off the remaining hair off the chair. That peeved me a little, but it's fine, what can you do. She washed and shampooed my hair quickly and I felt like it wasn't the most thorough. Halfway through, she got a phone call from another customer and she told them that she could take them at 2:45pm. This was odd because that meant she would finish my haircut in less than an hour with styling. I have long, thick hair that fell about 2 inches above my buttcrack. I came in looking for a long layers trim, as I was mainly looking to touch up my bangs and get rid of some split ends. She looked at my hair after shampooing and said I should cut 2 inches. I told her that 2-3 inches would be fine (as I have had many instances where older stylists have cut off more than expected, I was setting my expectations lower). I should have set my expectations even lower because from the first cut of the scissors, I already knew it was going to be 4+ inches off. She was rushing through the haircut and cutting random segments to what felt willy-nilly. Diane went from cutting the back of my head to circling to my bangs and doing things in a matter that didn't make sense. I saw so much of my hair on the ground and there was nothing I could do about it because it was too late at that point. There was a huge lack of detail and it just didn't feel like she was taking her time on me. After the speed haircut, she put me in the dryer so that she could finish up with the man who she was with first, as his hair dye was ready to be washed out. She left me in the dryer for about as long as she did the actual haircut ~around 20 minutes. Through all my years of getting salon treatments, I've never needed to sit in the dryer for such an extended period of time. When she was ready to see me again, she sat me back in the chair and said she was "going to make me pretty" by curling my hair. When I looked at my hair in the mirror, it fell right at my chest and it was way too short. She curled it and asked if I liked the bang length to where it was and I told her I did not and that I wanted it shorter, as a bang trim is one of the main reasons I came in. She didn't even put my actual middle part in my hair before she starting cutting it again. At this point, I was frustrated and just wanted to leave. It sucks when you try something new and do not get the results you wanted. I went to pay with my card and she charged it without showing me or telling me the price, as I made the initial appointment online for $55. When she gave me the receipt, it was $65+ tax and I asked her why and she said it's because you wanted a shampoo too. I just wanted to leave, so I paid it and assumed I was wrong, but I checked their website again and it was $55 for a wash, shampoo, blow dry (photo attached from their booking site). The next day, I take a closer examination of my hair and I realize that it's not only way shorter than what I wanted, but my bangs are also crazy uneven. The photo is attached, but it's about a half an inch different. Mint is a no-frills, typical Asian salon, and for me, that usually gets the job done, but this did not hit the mark. My haircut was cut way too short, it was rushed and the bangs are done unevenly, and on top of that, I was charged way more than the actual price. As much as I wanted to like Diane's services, I unfortunately can not return. EDIT: The business contacted me offering a $10-15 refund and said I could come back to get it fixed. The hairdresser was nice, friendly and talkative. However, this was the worst experience I ever had in a hair salon. I had horrible results from my hair coloring. She made a mess on my forehead, so while washing the hair she tried to clean up the mess. But what she did was to use her nails to scratch my forehead until it was too painful for me. After I went back to my car, I saw my forehead had black spots from the hair coloring and redness from the scratch. It was painful for two days and the picture shows what the scratches look now. I did the hair coloring for an appointment with someone very special, and of course that was totally ruined. So angry and disappointed! I am beyond pleased with the first time service I had with Diane. She did a root touch up, beautifully layered cut, deep conditioning and highlights. I wanted to keep my length but I had a lot of split ends. The layered cut she suggested did the trick. Diane has many years of experience and she knows her craft. This is my review after recent visit to this salon. Much to my dismay, Essie has apparently left this place (according to the new owner, she has retired ). So I decided to book with Heidi since she has a good review on Yelp, and I can surely say I need to find a new place after 11 years! The new owner Heidi did a horrible job on my eyebrows. She almost chopped off my left eyebrow because she felt my left eyebrow might be longer than the right one. I repeatedly asked her to keep the shape of my eyebrow- high arch and long. I also told her that I don't like my eyebrows too thin. She did exactly opposite of what I asked her to do. Worse yet, I had to ask her for a mirror to check the final outcome and when I provided my feedback, she kept insisting that she has done a great job!! I have been getting my hair cut with Diane here for at least 5 years. She is very good at doing what I ask for, whether that be maintaining my length, trying something new, or fixing my hair after trying to cut my own layers. She is friendly and fast. I always leave feeling gorgeous because of her kind words and customer service. The hair cut will cost you a bit more than some other hair cuts (mine is usually 50 before tip) but for a consistently beautiful result, it's worth it to me. read more

They are very thorough with the waxing and make sure that everything is removed. They also apply disinfectant and aloe to soothe the skin at the end of the session. Like most girls, I'm extremely picky of my hair and need it to be a particular style to be happy. Hair is everything!!!! I don't get my hair cut often because I like to keep it long, but when I do come here, I just tell Diane to do the usual and she does it perfectly. I think she really analyzes people's face shapes and decides based off of that what would be more suitable for them. I was a bridesmaid for my friend's wedding back in May and I decided to get a haircut 2 weeks before the wedding which most girls with long hair would understand, is a bit risky before a big event. My hair is on the thinner side so I always worry that when I get a haircut that it automatically makes my hair look thinner. I told Diane I wanted to maintain my length and thickness but to layer it more since my layers had grown out. She was able to do this without cutting too much off. I don't know how she did it, but she is magical! $35 for a haircut is an amazing deal, especially for someone like me who has such long and...messy tangled hair sometimes.
