Never coming here again! Vanna is never transparent and upfront about pricing and will sneakily increase it by 40-50% in the end. Vanna will tell you one price before the service and increases prices when you actually pay after. This is the second time it is happening me and both times I left feeling scammed and angry at the dishonesty. I specifically asked how much it would be for hair color when I got to the salon cause I remember she had increased the price after the hair treatment previous time as well. I had dismissed the first time as a one time thing . But this time again she said 110$ first and later charged me 155$ for hair color. On clarifying the price, she said she apparently added oil treatment which I din't even ask for !! Typically I couldn't mind spending 155$ for hair color but feel scammed and cheated when she increases the price later by 40% for no reason. Not once but on two different visits. read more

Vanna is amazing! Went in not knowing what I wanted, and came out w purple hair! I asked her what colors she had and she handed me a book of colors and I ended up choosing violet. I originally came in w a balayage of lighter browns and ended up leaving w a vibrant purple. I love it! Also my mom originally came in for a blow out & had her make up done but ended up getting a trim as well! We definitely recommend Vanna! She's patient and keeps us comfortable and takes into consideration our opinions about what we want. None of that "trim" but cuts off like 5 inches of hair. A trim really means a trim. I never really write yelp reviews but I have to for Vanna. Vanna. Is. AMAAZING! I've dyed my hair and bleached it before but I've never bleached my entire head. I thought it would be really painful but Vanna is so sweet and thoughtful, she makes sure that you aren't in pain and that you are comfortable. She is so personable and easy to talk to, plus she will listen if you want anything changed. I wanted to bleach my hair from my natural black hair to blonde and this color lift was only from one session (in only 3 hours I may add)!! My hair still feels strong and soft as well. On top of that, I scheduled an appointment really late but she replied so quickly on yelp! Her prices are incredible compared to other salons and I would 10000% come back. I found her through my cousin (my cousin has been getting hair cuts from her for years now). She also cut my sister's and cousin's hair as well and their hair looks amazing as well (they couldn't send me pics but when I saw their hair cuts I immediately booked an appointment). It's very hard to switch from a hairstylist of 10+ years and find someone else. I took a chance with Vanna because of the convenience of the studio location, my hubby's suggestion. The first two times I was quite pleased. My hubby had been going to her, but my requirements are a lot different than his. I require hair color/highlights and have naturally curly hair. This last time was a nightmare for me. The hair color was incorrect, it was not done correctly, and it was uneven in the back. When she proceeded to cut my hair, that's when the disaster continued, it was awful. Either she wasn't focused, or too use to cutting hair for her major clientele, which I am certain is 95% Asian. Having short naturally curly hair is not the easiet to cut and you have to know what you are doing, and not make you look like a boy, or have to wear their mistakes, as I do now. I called to have her fix my mistakes and she flaked out, did not return the call, and when we got her on the phone, she said she did not want to work with my hair. How unprofessional and unethical is that. She lost both our business. Shame on you Vanna! read more

Ever since I moved to the South Bay Area 2 years ago, I've been looking for a hair stylist that I really like, who not only is great at cutting hair, but who also offers excellent customer service. I finally found that last week at Vanna's! First of all, Vanna and her mom showed great hospitality by making sure that I was as comfortable as I could be. My allergies were acting up and they offered me tea, tissues, and a face mask, which was very thoughtful of them. They accept walk-ins, which is great, especially since I spontaneously decided to get a haircut that day. When Vanna asked me what kind of style I wanted, I just told her about what length I preferred and told her she can decide the rest. She quickly decided on a style and it came out better than I had anticipated! I wanted a simple haircut that wouldn't take me long to style and she gave me exactly that! I've received tons of compliments and am looking forward to returning in the future. As a bonus, Vanna offers great prices, which are typically cheaper than the other local hair salons! I got my eyelashes done by Vanna right before my vacation to Cancun. She did an amazing job. She took about an hour to work on the eyelashes and they came out very natural and looked very full. The price didn't brake the bank for the amount of work and attention she paid to my lashes. She gave me instructions on how to care for my lashes. My lashes lasted well through my two week vacation which included snorkeling and several other water activities. I made sure I followed her directions and at this point it's been about 3 weeks since I got them done and I still have a pretty generous amount of lashes. I have been going to Vanna for as long as I can remember. I don't trust anybody but her! Before she opened up this shop, I would would go all the way to San Jose just to get my hair cut by her. Once, I didn't feel like going to San Jose and got my hair cut from a place close by and asked for layers, which is what I normally get from her, and it cost me $32! My hair didn't even look that different, what a waste of money. Now, I'm so lucky that she has opened this shop and that it's closer to my place. Amazing work, both from her and her mother. They are very kind, offering food every once in awhile, and always try to make our stay very comfortable while we wait. Plus, I just find it amazing how they're managing everything so well considering it's just these two women.
