I had a major algae problem I could not control. I called AAP and they came and checked it out. I couldn't believe how clean they got the plaster, and when refilled and balanced it looks perfect! It took 1 day to drain, 1 day to clean, 2 days to refill and we were back in the pool! By the end of the summer our pool was in bad shape. Our 15 year old single speed pump and…read morecartridge filter were spent. Both had air leaks, the pump was noisy and we were constantly having to take out the filter cartridges to remove the green slime (algae). Our electric bills were up there and we were spending a fortune on chlorine. At the end of the day, we were waisting a lot money on a green pool. Being a handy guy and having worked in the swimming pool construction business many years ago, I visited Dickson Brothers and began inquiring about patching up my old system as compared to replacing the essential components, pump and filter. "Travis," a pool service technician at Dickson Brothers squared me away with options, price lists, and overall advise on modern day pool repair. Travis really knows pools and pool repair! I compared the prices with other other pool suppliers and found that Dickson Brother's was about $200 to $300 less for the pump (variable speed) and filter and the pre-filter was about the same. I decided I was going to take on the actual work of replacing my old pump station pad and pouring a new pad, and replacing all the major components, valves and pipes, including electrical connections. I can't say the job was easy but with Travis' guidance it went smoothly. I don't think I had to bug him too much but when I did, he was always available and provided great info on getting this project done. He even answered his phone while on vacation....unbelievable! I have nothing but good things to say about Dickson Brothers, Travis, and the rest of their staff in getting our pool back to a sparkling clear water situation. The new pump is quiet, powerful, and highly efficient and the pre filter really takes care of a lot of the dirt and debris before it gets to the big filter. I have a feeling we're going to spend a lot less time cleaning filter cartridges as compared to enjoying our pool! Whether you can do the actual repair work yourself or whether you'll need someone to fix your pool for you, I would certainly consider talking to Travis (or anyone else) at Dickson Brothers.

We were babysitting our 3 grandchildren for the weekend so they had a blast checking out the pond display and yard decor inside. The pond display has a few fish but the highlight was watching the turtle! We went outside and saw all the baby fish in the tanks and lots of pond and bog plants to choose from. We saw Sid who was working outside and we had a few questions for him. Sid was great! He was very helpful and kind, answered all of our questions and even offered up some suggestions! After we chose the plant we wanted, he carefully wrapped it up for the trip home. He made sure to tell us how to fertilize the plant and we bought some tablets to use in the future. I've been dealing with these folks for months trying to get the equipment fixed on my pool that was damaged in the May 29 storm in Talty/Forney area. Their "30 year veteran" technician has come out to my house on multiple occasions leaving my equipment in various states on UNUSE for weeks at a time. Zero communication with the management staff as to why. I had to be the one to communicate with that. This past month, my pool pump was left in pieces while I was on vacation because "they didn't assemble it" and my pool went not running for the entire week. Now, I am fighting Alge as a result. There is another component of my pool (6 way floor port jets) that has been broken since May 29, and they keep saying they "fixed it". It still leaks like a cive. They kept saying it was an o-ring seal. THE HOUSING IS CRACKED AND THAT IS WHY IT IS LEAKING. They charged me hundreds of dollars for repairs that has resulted in my pool becoming more damaged than what it was. The final straw is when they sent me yet another invoice for $211 after admitting to me (in writing that I am KEEPING for possible small claims court) that their technician screwed up and they are taking responsibility for his malfeasance. Then when I wrote to them that I was not paying for it and if they insisted on perusing that invoice, I would take them to small claims. They sent me a final email saying that there was no need for me to get "ugly" and to never contact them again. (I HAVE ALL THIS IN WRITING). They want to see ugly? Fine, here comes all the bad google, yelp, FB reviews and everywhere else I can post it. I plan on calling small claims court and asking them to pay for damage done to my pool since they accepted responsibility of their technician's actions. Ugly....you got it Sunshine Pools.
