I have been into Spitfires a couple of times with my boyfriend. If I were not with him, I would not frequent this bar because of the patrons. All male, middle aged, and making girls uncomfortable when they enter the bar. The first time we went there the service was excellent. The girl bartending was so nice and pleasant, and made for a really nice experience. The 2nd time was absolutely awful. It was a Saturday afternoon and we had gone in to meet a friend for lunch. She wasnt there yet so we decided to order a drink. My boyfriend ordered a beer and I ordered a bloody mary (I had one the first time we were there and it was really good! I am a fan of "bloody flair" and they put a lot of stuff in theirs.) When I ordered one from the bartender he rolled his eyes and said "I have like 4 other bloody marys to make right now." Because of social media, Spitfires now posts signs at their tables to warn patrons of long waits for food on busy nights. This is crazy to me. First and foremost, it's a bar. Belly up, get a drink, order food, then get a few more drinks. The food will come when it comes. Relax. They're nice enough to keep a tab for you! Secondly, it's beyond worth the wait. Once you get those wings after all those cocktails you'll be saying "Oh my God" and "OMG" on repeat ad infinitum (while you dance to something ridiculous). Great Wings!! I tried this place out, for the first time, on a Monday night, their wing night. They have $.50 wings on Monday nights, and they're very good!! They have about 20 different wing sauces to choose from, ranging from mild to spicy, and some are pretty creative. I like the raging jerk and blueberry bbq. Besides the wings, the other thing I love about this place is their shuttle! They offer a free shuttle bus to Summerfest, and to Miller Park, for all Brewer home games. They call their shuttle, the Party Bus, and it IS a party! The bus driver plays 'Jock Jams' and other dance music to get the crowd going. Plus they sell $3, 16oz. cans of Miller Lite, Coors Light and High Life on the bus. When you're headed to Summerfest or a Brewer game, and you know you're about to spend $7-$8 per beer, who wouldn't want a $3 beer for the ride?! Genius!! What's also great about their shuttle, is that they leave no man behind. When you ride, you sign your name and phone number on a clip board. You can't get too drunk and miss your shuttle because they won't stop until every name on that clip board has returned safely. The atmosphere is that of a sports bar. Awesome wings, burgers, sandwiches and fries. Really some of the best local bar food around. Where spitfires really lacks is in service. There seems to always be confusion amongst the servers, and sometimes we will have several servers switching out while we are there. The wait time for food can get excessively long. If they could up there service this place could be 5 star. read more

I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy! Went there this afternoon with a group of nine people, the "waiter/bar buffoon" told the head of our group "When I saw you ride past, I hoped you wouldn't stop because I didn't want to serve that many people." WTF kind of attitude is that! Then it took over an hour to get our food, while not horrible, wasn't all that great either. I had the Blue Cow, described in the menu as "smothered in Bleu Cheese crumbles", with a side of onion rings. When the food eventually arrived, I saw that instead of Bleu Cheese crumbles, the smallish burger was actually drowning in a boring bottled salad dressing. I was also informed that they were out of onion rings! Orders the Tater Tots, and to no surprise, they were over cooked! Then we had to wait for the bill. The best I can say is, at least the burger was cooked properly. If given a choice between Spitfire and McDonald's, go to McDonald's. read more

First off, the first time I ever went there, I left feeling like a regular. The staff and patrons are friendly and easy to talk to. Now, the wings? I haven't eaten a wing so heavenly in my life! SpitFire on State focuses on quality food. It is not your normal bar... frozen food fry and serve. This is a great place to get high quality bar food at a fair price. Everything is made from scratch. I saw a review on Facebook about the wings, and saw that wing night is Monday's starting at 3. We wanted to beat the rush so we got there right at 3 on Monday 3-26. There was no one n the place. We sat at a table and the bartender came down to take our order. I ordered a tap beer and she told me it was still green from St. Patrick's day, was that ok? Still green 9 days after st. Pats? nope. We told her we came to try the wings. She said the special didn't start until 5. We had to pay full price. We were hungry so ok. The wings took awhile and when they came she said she gave us each an extra wing because that was the last of the wings.???? It is wing night, but we go the last of what? Went to Spitfires on Football Sunday after hearing that they had really good wings. It's a pretty small townie bar feel, with lots of tv's, darts, and a pool table. We both had the wings, Mild & spicy Garlic, and a beer. The wings were great! The only downfall was that the place was understaffed. The poor bartender had to serve the bar and all the tables. Still, the food came pretty fast and was hot and exactly what we ordered. If this place hired a few more people to run the floor and the huge outdoor patio this place would be hopping! read more

I really wanted to love this place because it's right near my house. We went in for a weekday lunch about 1130am. The place is spotless clean. Unfortunately only one employee was working so she was trying to keep up with the kitchen and the guys at the bar, etc. Took about 6-7 minutes to order our sodas. Friendly, but not fast. Food came out a good while after we ordered. I was excited to try the wings, but the sauce I ordered on it was VERY light. Just tasted like plain wings with drops of the sauce here and there. This place is wonderful! I found out about them at the Sticky Fingers event this year and had to go back for more! One of the owners was actually our waitress and she was absolutely lovely. I WILL NEVER COME BACK HERE. We waited 40 min for wings. Our server, Bree, checked on us twice in the hour and a half that we were there and never refreshed our drinks. We had to walk up to the bar for drinks. Then I had to walk around to find our server to ask her to box up our food up, but couldn't find her. Asked the bartender for help. She was extremely rude and told me that it wasn't her problem and that I had to find my server for help. She then stormed off and was obviously avoiding me. Highly disappointed. No one even tried to apologize to us for the terrible wait time. They are lucky that we even paid for food even though they should have comp'd it. Money not well spent. Also from what I saw there was small children hanging out, maybe working, in the kitchen. That is not okay because they are most likely not educated in sanitation and kitchen safety. This place is super sketchy. Should be shut down. I could go on forever about how terrible my night was here. I work in the restaurant industry and I can be very understanding, but this was just awful. After getting home and bitterly eating the food that we were sorry to pay for...all of it had no flavor. Awesome place to go with some of the best wings I have ever had. My wife just had our 3rd child and all her cravings had me going to Spitfires to satisfy her late night cravings. Great owners who are friendly and always make me feel like I am at home. There is not one thing on the menu that I have tried(and I have tried alot) that I didnt like. The previous bar Dinoz had great food as well but I would have to say that this is a step up from them. I feel that they take more pride in their food. read more

Upon entering the restaurant there was an overwhelming smell of cleaning fluid that was quite off putting and present through the whole meal. I had left something behind and returned the next day to retrieve it and the smell was still present. My companion ordered the hot wings and enjoyed them. He also ordered a burger medium with a couple of burger add ons. The burger was medium well and he did not receive the add ons. I ordered a burger that was supposed to have lettuce and tomato according to the menu, but I did not receive that either. My burger was also not medium as ordered. Service was pretty slow.
