I had a seat upfront so it may have possessed extra comfort but worth the small extra coin for it. Received a free snack which was unexpected however i was disgruntled about NO POWER outlets to charge phone. Yet me & my luggage made it to Vegas so all is forgiven. Our 4th time flying Spirit Airlines in the last one year. I wanted to give it a try and see how it is compared to other airlines. Overall it's pretty much the same as other airlines. The good part is you can find really good deals such as $50 roundup to Vegas from Burbank. That's what I used it mostly for except last summer we flew to San Antonio Texas from LAX... which was a pretty good deal too. But if you need a carry on or luggage it's extra (and recently almost all airlines started to do that, at least all budget airlines) ... the service is friendly, the planes are clean etc This last trip I booked to Vegas from Burbank for a business trip didn't go well. Our flight was booked for 12:40 pm leaving Burbank. One day before I checked to see if I can check in I noticed it said leaving Burbank 6:13 pm ... whatttttt without any notification or any emails our flight was rescheduled. Now we were suppose to have a 4 pm business meeting with a company which had to be postponed because of the airline. It is not fair to do this to clients. I never experienced such a thing in the last 30 years I have been flying. Maybe it's common and I don't know about it but it sure is not ok. Horrible experience. We checked in on the way to airport. We arrive at your desk, they told us we were not checked in held us at your desk for 20-30 mins. TSA said we were checked in then we rushed to the door to board our flight but they told us we were 2 mins late. We book a flight from Burbank to Vegas with a return flight of the same itinerary. When we are about to check in for our return flight we could not check in only find out that they change our flight with a different itinerary this time at a much later time(evening) and going to LAX instead of Burbank. So I'm now purchasing an alternative flight over double the cost of the spirit flight I booked last week. For this trip I selected Spirit as they offered the nonstop flight I was looking for - New Orleans to Los Angeles, AT THE TIME I WANTED. Spirit is changing and worth noting. Their seats are more comfortable and they offer snacks and other conviences that one time was a no-no. I opted for the upgraded package which included seating and luggage - still it was much lower than the big carriers. The flight left on time and landed on time - No issues. Carriers like Spirit rely on you being adaptable to a self-service environment. Now, they even offer Wi-Fi. Anyway, my journey was very pleasant. read more

There were 8 of us travelling together...going to Kentucky with a layover in Las Vegas. Spirit Airlines cancels our 2nd leg flight, mid-flight and leaves us stranded in Las Vegas at 11pm to fend for ourselves. They claim poor weather, but there was NO storm anywhere on the path, plus other planes were still flying out. We were stranded Saturday night and they told us the earliest they could put us on a flight would be in 4 days!! Spirit Airlines refused to refund our entire airline purchase, claiming that they got us to Las Vegas and therefor offered us a pro-rated refund. We had to rent a one-way vehicle to our destination, pay gas, and hotel charges all along the way. I submitted complaints for all 8 of us with the Department of Transportation (DOT) and filed a lawsuit in court, which Spirit Airlines came to court and fought vehemently against me!!! Guess what, Spirit Airlines lost the case against me and they paid up too. Also, I got covid on another Spirit Airline flight in which they sat me next to a person coughing during the entire flight. I paid to be in what they call their first class zone one boarding number two, yet I've been waiting for over 25 minutes in line number 26 because the representative at the front of the county decided to tell everybody get in the line disregarding your boarding pass or your zone just get in the line and let's go because they are behind our flight was supposed to leave at 6:55 was delayed until 719. It is now, 724 and we are still standing in line waiting as the rep run in and out of the door as if there is an emergency. It is now 730 and they just canceled the flight completely saying there was an emergency. Now we're being told the flight has been canceled because of some mechanical issues. The manager, Razia A Singh , at the spirit desk in Burbank took our personal information down without reason or consent. After my boyfriend scanned his boarding pass she then proceeded to remove the scanner so I couldn't scan my pass, took out her personal phone and took a photo of his personal information. He was standing at the opening of the door to walk to the plane waiting for me when she turned around and yelled at him to exit the doorway and continue walking, when I stated that we were together and that we was waiting for me, she raised her voice even louder and screamed at him to continue walking. She then placed the scanner back, I scanned my pass, she then raised her personal phone AGAIN, and took a photo of all of my personal information as well. When I inquired as to what was wrong, why she was taking a photo of my information and his, she verbatim said to me, "don't worry about it", and proceeded to yell at me to exit and continue walking. This made me feel extremely uncomfortable as nothing has happened and we were just boarding our flight. This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable. To take a photo on her personal phone of OUR personal information, is not ok in any sense of the word. The Spirit manager at the Burbank airport has by far been one of the rudest people I have ever came across. Completely unprofessional. Needs a refresher on training or dealing with public or something. Or needs to be reassigned to where she does not deal with the general public. 0/5 would recommend because of her alone. Lauderdale outta LAX went like this: Spirit cancels flight Spirit puts flight back on active status Spirit puts flight on hour delay Spirit changes gate to flight and doesn't let anyone know that is waiting at the posted gate area - in the overbooked gate area, where others are still waiting for their flights to commence Spirit announce those waiting for connections to Cancun must rebook flights or accept a refund, as they can't oblige the timeline to make this happen Time comes to board the aircraft, according to the screen at the Spirit desk, and it's still not ready at the Spirit designated delayed time Spirit finally announces boarding for flight 310 to Ft Lauderdale, 40 minutes after the original delay time was posted Spirit crew gets the aircraft loaded, close doors, attendants go through their spiel and the pilot announces we will be taking off shortly, dims cabin lights and we sit there Spirit pilot comes back on the p.a. to announce the flight crew is tired and timed out of their legal hours to fly, pilot says flight is cancelled and says to wait for the bridge/port to come back for deplaning the aircraft Bridge arrives and the flight crew leaves the cockpit, deplanes ALL the other Spirit passengers continue to be held on the aircraft for another 45 minutes, being told to be patient. -THEN, Spirit announce we can all deplane the aircraft Another line to wait in, as we all scramble after midnight LAX to get luggage. motor over and go to Spirit desk downstairs to figure out next steps. Soooo, I've been trying to @SpiritAirlines work with #SpiritAirlines to resolve being overcharged for a bag...& since customer service decided their "best practice" was to NOT see my side & make what I believe should have been an obvious & simple exception...I figured I'd let others know...as I advised them I would. They claim to be the "low cost" airline- but that's only true if u treat it like an uber bus with nothing but your purse or briefcase to get from point A to B...smh I traveled on a 4hr nonstop flt. from LA to Nashville- as I regularly do...this time I had to pay for a bag & did so, (in advance)...because Lord knows, the cost will go up ...fine $51...but whatever. I get to the gate & the agent tells me that I paid for a checked bag versus a carry-on...but she'll "let it be" a carry-on...for an additional $41 (making it a total of $91-for ONE small size carry-on)-because it's a last minute gate check... I was like, "nooo, I already paid for this bag. Why can't the ramp agents simply take it in the jet way down to the cargo hold, (like I already know they will do) with all the strollers, wheelchairs or baggage that people hadn't pre-paid for? " She says, they can't do that. I asked for a supervisor - & they threatened to close the doors on me if it took the supervisor too long to get to the gate- which I think was simply a scare tactic & threat because they're upset at being challenged. But, I'd already seen her. So I said, "she's right there...should I go get her attn. or do you want to call her?" She comes over -they explain & she says the same thing. So, I pay the money & advise I'll contact corporate. But guess what they did...took my bag down as checked in the jetway- jus like I knew they would & could...because they said it didn't fit the carry-on size restrictions due to the wheels. Now mind u, it's a small carry-on rolling bag that I've used a number of times, on Spirit & other carriers (without issue) & put in the overhead bin next to luch larger bags... So in my opinion, this was just an opportunity to price gouge & squeeze more money out of a passenger. I've worked the support desk, reservations & airport customer service, as well as been a ramp & airfreight agent at United Airlines for 13yrs. and have made a nbr. of exceptions if it wasn't going to negatively impact the service & potentially make the customer happy...Win/win is the goal right? This was a poor example of customer service. They have a number of issues (poor customer service viaph-non-existant actually), seats that cost darn near as much as the ticket, unrealistic carry-on restrictions, ridiculously uncomfortable & narrow seats (you're packed in like sardines), and fees on top of their fees... I swear if there were any other non-stops at the time I needed to travel I'd take them over Spirit every time- and I have when the occasion has been possible, but more often than not they have the only red-eye, non-stop to Nashville. So much for their commitment to "low-cost. I wish they had a commitment to customer service & customer care. Spirit airlines sucks. There employees are not trained. They are great liers. They canceled our flight 3 times saying we checked ourselves out when we had full proof that they were double booking seats. Myself amd 10 others were stuck at the airport fighting for over 2 hours and there mangers were more untrained then their idiot employees. There airline is known to double book flight all the time. This is the worse airlines ever from charging me for a membership I did not know about to the most uncomfortable seats ever. Would of never known about their membership fees until I got a renewal notice. So I guess I paid for membership in my flight and dint know it. read more

At first I was really worried about flying with spirit because their seats were so narrow and there was barely any room for your feet. When I got into the flight I Was so surprised that there was so much room between seats where I can actually cross my legs! Yes it's a little bit pricier to get your bags and you have to pay for water but it's totally worth it if you're going on a short flight! read more

I was sending one of our crew members out to a live-streaming location. They were flying with equipment that they were going to put on the airplane. When they arrived at the airport, they were told to go to the kiosk to get their bags scheduled to be put on the conveyor belt, and sent to the Plane. The cost for the baggage was $225, which is over $100 more expensive than any other carrier we've ever shipped the same exact equipment on. When he went to the automated kiosk, the kiosk charge of $225 and then instead of issuing the tags for the bag it said see the agent at the counter. Our employee immediately went to the counter and was told that there was not enough time to get the bags on the airplane. Our employee was at the kiosk at 8:41 AM, he was over at the counter at 8:43 AM. The flight departure was 9:30 AM. Since they were not going to allow him to put the equipment on the airplane, he asked for a refund for the $225 that they took from him. They refused him the refund and said that the baggage fees are nonrefundable. Even though he never got the tags for what he paid for. The experience of trying to get a refund, the endless holds, and seven hours of text chat through their website. Never receiving back phone calls I was promised. And everything else that was just non-professional would leave me to say, I am personally done with this airline for many years. If you fly this airline, you have a good experience.
