Qantas can't offer in-flight entertainment on a 15-hour flight?? Come ON. I get this text message approximately 20 hours before an international flight that due to a technical fault there won't be any in-flight entertainment. Oh! But you can download your OWN MATERIAL onto your OWN personal device! Wooo! Oh THANK YOU Qantas. And I had to call them and add a second small checked bag to my trip and it cost me a whopping $250! What IS it that... you DO, Qantas? And THEN. I had submitted a request to upgrade my 15+ hour international flight to business class. Kept checking the web site and it said "pending." Tried to scan my boarding pass to board and I was denied. Go to the desk. The Qantas rep said it was still pending and for me to sit for 5 or 6 minutes then come back to the desk? There were a few other people waiting on their upgrade requests also. The airline proceed to board the ENTIRE plane then the rest of us went back up to the desk only to all be told that none of us were granted upgrades. Okaaaay? So you are telling me you knew this entire time we were not getting upgraded but you made us board last? It is disgusting how little these people value their customers. I dropped $3,200 plus another $2,000 for changing my flight and you treat me like this. Forget trying to call them for anything otherwise you will be on hold for hours. Not exaggerating. For my first long 15 hour flight I got a cranky flamboyant flight attendant who got salty every time passengers asked him for anything. I had vegetarian meal selected on my reservation but they did not have it in their system. For one of the hot snacks h this guy plunks a warm rectangular cardboard box into my hands and the guy next to me and rushes off. The guy sitting next to me apparently was a vegetarian also. He and I sniffed the box and it smelled like meat. The guy asked the cranky flight attendant what it was and he said sausage roll. We both handed our box back to him and asked if we could have a meatless snack. Here came the attitude. He huffed and said he would check if there were any cheese and crackers but of course he never came back. For the price of these tickets and baggage you would think they would be a little nicer to their customers. I am so fed up with this airline for so many reasons. It is unfortunate that there are so few airline choices to Australia. I would have liked to go into the Qantas Lounge before one of these longer flights but unfortunately you can't buy a pass. You can sign up for the club for I think $800 a year but why bother? *update* Oh my gosh to add insult to injury. I was on QF 935 Brisbane to Perth. I asked the cranky flight attendant (her name tag said "Lyft") for a glass of champagne with my breakfast. And she is like "oh I don't know if we have that. Oh wait. Yes we do but that's only for business. And YOU are in economy. A five and a half hour flight and no drinks? And I paid $450 one way? Oh ok. They are so helpful i had to book the next flight out recently and they got me on in less than 12 hours! Staff are always great and very kind. My kids always ask to fly on the red kangaroo plane. Business class you get pyjamas, great entertainment selection and are able to lie flat perfect for the 16 hour flight! The lounges have the best coffee and such good food selection even the pilots recently gave me their lunch when i asked for something small. Be wary of Quantas. I spent nearly $10K to book a business class ticket from DC to Cairns for my dream Great Barrier Reef vacation. A few weeks later I get an email telling me that my return flight from LAX to DC was cancelled by partner airline Alaska Airlines and I would have to spend 15 hours overnight in LA. I spent an hour and eight minutes on hold before getting through to a customer service rep. Will I get a hotel paid for? NO. How about booking me on a different airline? NO. How about if I go economy? NO. How about flying to Baltimore instead of DC? NO. How about rerouting me through somewhere other than LA? NO. Booked Qantas just because of their good reputation. They are falsy advertising the services they provide. The plane is super old and was literally falling apart. The entertainment system did not work for an almost 16 hour flight. The passengers were only informed after they had boarded the flight. I will never fly with Qantas ever again! If it were available, I would be rating Qantas A zero!!! on a recent trip, we purchased assigned specific, prepaid seats and were not given to us as per their error. Rather than try to determine how to remedy the situation right away, we were given excuses, etc. Since our return several months ago, Qantas owes us for the seats that we paid for but we did not receive. It has been several months now and still they do not honor the refund. Customer service is a joke as they ask the same questions ,give you the runaround and still no refund. Like no matter how great the airline, who in their right mind would want to endure the airports, the hassle and then the bore of being on a 13 hour flight between Sydney and LA? However, if you have to do it, I'd say Qantas is definitely the way to do it. They use the new Airbus 380, huge, but very comfortable and even more so as Qantas has cut down the number of seats the plane can handle in order to give more leg room and general ease for long distance travel. Though we had packed food to bring aboard, Qantas handed out plenty of snakes and drinks, enough to keep me happy. Also, the behind each seat individual televisions and channel selections are about the best I've seen in the business. I also found the crew staff to be extremely polite and helpful as well as real professionals when it comes to what they are doing. read more

However, Qantas I reckon just about craped their pants, when they see us rolling up wiv all our gear. Even wiv me Club Membership, the over charges are basically gonna require me to refinance me home :) I reckon 580 U.S dollars for me and 425 U.S dollars for me mate Keegan. Since I convinced him to take so many boards, I felt obligated to pay for his charges, AWW what a nice bloke I am. The over-charges, seem like a wee bit shot to the gut, jus for our surfboards.....but I can't leave home wivout them. I feel naked. Flight was from LAX to Australia & Australia to LAX . The new A380 is the way to fly 15 hours to Australia. Very very surprise how spacious A380 premium economy was. I was expecting the seat to be just a little bite bigger than economy; however, it was bigger than I expected it. If you've sat on airlines that just has 3 classes or the usual 747, the premium economy has as much space as some business classes. Why 4 star? On my way from LAX to Australia, the flight attendance kept giving me attitude when I asked for hot water. I really only drink warm water; I'm not trying to give him more trouble =_=||| Also, when I asked for extra blanket since I was freezing; he told me, they got NONE! Tip: When flying on Qantas Air, fly the A383 if there's a option to. Warning: Qantas Air does cot 500~2000 more than other airline. read more

I admit I was a little apprehensive about loading up on the monster Airbus plane that Qantas flies back and forth to LA. I was thinking it would take over an hour to load and unload all of us. But all went smoothly and quickly, given they have two entrances for the upper and lower decks. In business class, the podded seats are quite cozy and filled with amenities. They will actually completely lay out flat and are equipped with a massager, ports for electronics, your own video screen and mini reading light. You also receive a pair of gray pj's and a kit to freshen up with. The staff was kind, friendly and extremely polite. I've flown a few times when I've been rudely awakened to be served food, even though I had asked to be able to sleep through meal service. The food in the meal service wasn't outstanding. I was actually a little disappointed it did keep the hunger at bay. There were snacks available throughout the flight but I was concentrating on trying to get some sleep. All in all, a pretty comfortable flight and I would fly Qantas again. read more

Do not fly Qantas! My flight to Singapore on Qantas at 8.45pm (UK time) last night was cancelled because the first officer of the flight fell sick and Qantas couldn't find any other first officers to replace him (I would honestly have taken to this better if they had told me the delay was due to weather conditions or mechanical fault rather than poor staffing on their part). I've been basically on my feet queueing for hours since last night. We were queueing for answers, then queued for the bus to the hotel, queued for check-in (which in all fairness kudos to the hotel staff, was quick), queued for the bus back to the hotel, and am now faced with a massive queue for check-in. We were not provided with a proper dinner (just whatever the hotel kitchen could whip up at short notice, again, at no fault of the hotel), not provided with snacks and drinks while waiting (honestly even Jetstar, a budget airline, had the decency to hand out beverages when our flight was previously delayed and we were queueing for check in). My legs and back hurt and I am tired. Half of the flight is made of the elderly, how would they feel? A woman fainted during our 2 hour check in queue. Communication was poor throughout, information was not forthcoming. We had to repeatedly approach Qantas staff to ask for updates and even so they kept telling us to wait. Qantas is a full fledged airline treating its passengers like a budget airline. Please get your act together Qantas. I've flown several long haul return flights from Singapore to the UK with several airlines during university days and I've never experienced anything like this. I just want to go home! read more

I love Qantas. I was going to Sydney on a school trip and was almost cringing at the idea of 14 hours in coach considering my experiences is from US airlines. I was flying on the impeccable Airbus A380. When I sat in my seat I had ample leg room and the seats have this netting that you can put you feet in and it actually cradles your feet and takes the pressure off of your feet which REALLY increases comfort and ability to sleep on this long flight. Each seat features on-demand entertainment and free booze which I'll also give credit to being able so sleep for about 5 hours on this long venture. The A380 also featured self-serve bar in the back of the plane for snack and drink and a place to stretch your legs. I only wish I could fly Qantas and this plane everywhere. read more

It was a 6:30am flight and we were offered a lot of food and beverages. The food was so so but what do you expect for airline food. Different story every time. We are currently half way through a visit to Canada (from Australia) and my husband has been called away for work in the States. When we enquired about pushing our flights back a week so we could travel together with our two small children (one with special needs) we were quoted $11,000 TO.CHANGE.A.DATE!! This was more than the original trip cost. We then enquired about changing the name on the ticket so my mother in law could travel back with me and three different reasons were given as to why this couldn't be done....because 1) the partnership between West Jet/Qantas would not allow it, 2) it was a ticketing issue and 3)it is a security issue. WHICH.IS.IT.QANTAS!? The last 'senior manager' I spoke to condescendingly asked me if 'I have travelled much' when I questioned the policy/ies. I have been a loyal customer of Qantas for over a decade and at one point was a platinum Qantas FF member. I am so disappointed with Qantas's inflexibility and clearly confused booking policies. Qantas is one great airline! My liking of this company began early this year when they slashed prices big time on their airfare. For a grand total of $980, my round trip ticket from San Diego to LAX with nonstop service to Sydney, it fell within my spending limits for traveling abroad. Their customer service is above par, my flights getting to and from San Diego/LAX was changed a month before my trip, so they called me on my cell phone a few times to make sure they actually spoke to me (even after they left me two voice mails with all the details of the changes). Checking in was seamless. They do allow you to check in two bags with a 50 lb weight limit and two carry-ons. However, if you travel anywhere in Oz, make sure you purchase the Australian Electronic Travel Authority first by visiting this website: http://www.eta.immi.gov.au/ It costs $20 Aussie dollars, but $25 or $30 if you do it at the ticket counter as you check-in. Save yourself the time and a few extra bucks by taking care of this before you travel since I heard it can take an additional 15-20 minutes of your time during check-in if you forget to do this beforehand. Okay, getting back to the airlines itself. My 14 1/2 hour flight from LAX to Sydney was pleasant. My seat was comfy, my seat mate was cool and I slept for 8 hours of that flight. We hit a small pocket of turbulence while we were eating dinner, but that only lasted five minutes (a long five minutes for a few people on the plane who looked scared out of their minds sitting nearby). Flying home was not as easy as I anticipated. I knew I packed too much in my larger suitcase, so was I ready to pay the fee for that ($50 Aussie bucks to be exact, dang souvenirs!). Although it was heavy, I still had to unload 4 kilos from that bag for safety reasons and transfer the random souvenirs in my carry on. I got stuck in a middle seat even though I requested an aisle, but it wasn't so bad since I sat between two cool peeps that didn't invade my space. In addition, I learned that they assign seats days before your flight instead of the time you actually make the reservation. We rode the new Airbus A380 home, so that was a nice treat. The inside was newer compared to the 747 I was on, but everything else was just as great as the 747. I especially loved the in-flight entertainment available on your own screen at your seat. I had movies on my iPod, but they have: a ton of new-release flicks to choose from, Oscar winning flicks from the last 20 years, international films, world news, games, audio books, music, self-help shows, etc. I only slept for an hour, so I kept myself entertained by watching at least six movies and a documentary. You really don't need to pack your own entertainment, the options were endless and very cool! My one beef with the trip was the food. All the meals tasted okay and the free Aussie wine was fantastic, but I was starving by the time breakfast rolled around on my trip back home and they ran out of the hot food! I got stuck eating Raisin Bran (I hate raisins, bleh!), but oh well, I got from A to B and back safe, on time and didn't catch the germs of the two ankle-biters sneezing and coughing two seats in front of me, lol! Would I travel Qantas again? Yes indeed! After spending two weeks in Sydney, I realized that this beautiful country of theirs has way much more to see and I hope to return back there in a few more years as long as they keep their airfare prices within affordable rates! Oh yeah, they also have this really cool live Sky Cam on the top of the tail, so you can watch the plane taking off, cruising and landing, I enjoyed that! If you really need to be on your laptop and on-line, the Airbus has free wifi and electrical outlets at each seat, so keep that in mind if you're looking for this cool perk! read more

OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG I'm not a big fan of airlines. I'm also not a big fan of being in a plane for more than an hour. My friend and I flew from LAX to Melbourne and Quantas was AMAZING!! I was impressed with them before we even arrived at the airport. Every time I would call their customer service line--even when it was 4:00am their time (darn time zones!) they were nothing but professional and upbeat! I wish I could remember the check in process and actually getting on the plane, but I had flown in earlier from my original destination (Boston) and was tired as heck. I was worried that after 0.00001 seconds on the plane I'd be bored out of my mind. Oh contrair! The first thing I noticed is the happy, upbeat staff. Second was the comfortable seats. Third was the many choices in entertainment. Score. I processed to close my eyes and expect to be on the Plane Ride That Never Ends when I woke up. Next thing I knew we had 3 hours left. 3 hours?? I NEVER sleep on planes, that was a pretty damn comfortable, almost a bit too comfortable? So we spent the time accepting the free booze (Australian wine!), food, and walking about to stretch our legs. We found a really great movie called Hysteria (check it out!) that is a little racy and probably wouldn't have been shown back home. We started laughing like crazy, so much that the stewardesses wanted to know what epic show we were watching and we were dubbed the Most Excited Fliers Ever. Nice. And the best part is I love that on international flights you get real food! And they feed you every hour! Not hungry? Doesn't matter! Have a three course meal with a side of Vegemite (which by the way is disgusting!)! I had so much fun on this flight that it had done the impossible: make me wish the flight was longer! I like nothing better than calling up a few movies On Demand, having dinner delivered, and settling back in a comfy recliner for my own private mini film fest. Which is exactly what I did last Thursday night. I settled in with a nice bottle of Shiraz and kicked off with "3:10 To Yuma". Great performances if implausible ending. OK, dinner time. Delivery of course. Veal shank with mushroom pot pie. And ice cream to top it off. What's a film fest without ice cream? OK, onto "The Darjeeling Limited". Wes Anderson, I try to like you. I really do. I struggle through "Into The Wild" as I start to doze off in the recliner. Wake three hours later. Breakfast delivered? Why not. Omelet with chives, baked beans, and fried tomatoes. Mmmm. Pick up a few mags and do a bit of lazy light reading. Look forward to another sunny LA day. Not a bad way to spend 12 and a half hours and travel 7,500 miles from Sydney to LA. Think you can't stand the thought of a 12 hour plane ride? Just think of it as three movies, dinner, breakfast and a nap. Now that's a great night in. read more

My wife and myself flew Qantas A380 first class from LAX to Sydney and back. Boy was it hoot. I'm 7'2 and I can't fit on any plane and I mean on any. Hands down this was the best service I got a plane ever. Seats were comfortable, food was on point and the crew was very warm and welcoming. I love you, my favourite airline of all time! I had a flight going from Los Angeles to Sydney and was absolutely dreading it. I mean, who wouldn't dread a 14 hour flight? But my experience was absolutely wonderful. There was a slight bump beforehand. I had to go to the shuttle room that would take me to the Qantas section of LAX. There was absolutely no food in that terminal, but oh well. BRING SNACKS! The flight itself was amazing and not a bother at all. I flew coach because I'm poor as a university student can get and it was super nice! When you walk onto the plane, the attendants politely welcome you aboard. You get to your seat, and you find a nice cush blanket, blindfold, and headphones. Cozyyy! The back of the chair in front of you has a small screen that you can control with a remote hidden away in your armrest. You can play games, watch movies, listen to music, check how much time left, etc etc. The movie selection is pretty good too and you'll find something that you'll like! The bathrooms are pretty clean as well. Also, complimentary food! Yeaaaaaaah! It's airplane food so it's definitely not going to be gourmet, but it wasn't too terrible in my opinion. --- Overall, I have no complaints about Qantas. They make sure you're comfortable for the entirety of the flight! The only downside is the shoddy terminal at LAX, but oh well, you don't have to spend all of your time there anyways. read more

My flight: LA to Sydney round-trip out of LAX. What's not to love about Qantas?! Honestly, I can't think of a single thing. My family recently came back from a trip to Australia for a family wedding and while we were excited about the occasion, we were equally frightened about how our two kids (8 & 4) will handle the 15 hour flight. Here's what made the Qantas difference. 1. A380: That's right! Our aircraft was the double-decker behemoth that required to gates to board. This ship was top of the line, fast, and impressive to see. The economy class took up practically the entire floor and the seats were spacious, including a reclining function that pushed the seat forward giving greater comfort. 2. Best IFE ever! The screen was huge, almost the size of an iPad, and there were options galore: Movies, music, TV shows, games, flight tracking and more! The coolest part was having access to a webcam that located on the tail fin so that we could see the pilot's perspective. Sunrises and sunsets were especially beautiful. 3. Thoughtful Timeline: Part of the fear that comes with anticipating such a lengthy flight is that it would all amount to a foggy experience where we stumble through with no idea what's going on and arriving at the destination is the only reprieve. Qantas provided a simple tool that gave definition to my journey and took that lostness away...a timeline. Included in every seatback pocket is a schedule of everything that will take place during the flight: meal times, refreshment/snacks, and the menu. It was helpful because we could mentally prepare for everything that's coming and maximize on the most important activity to adjust for impending jetlag, sleep. Simple and smart. 4. Snack bar: Towards the rear of the plane, there was a fully-stocked drink/snack bar that you can get at any time. It's helpful to not have to worry about bothering someone just to get quick drink or a bag of pretzels. Summary: Great people, accommodations, food, and traveler-thoughtfulness. My heart is still pounding from the sexual experience of flying Qantas (and return) to the land down-under (down-under?I like the sound of that ^smile Where to begin. Uh, ok, you know those tiny little blankets that airlines give you? You know the ones, the ones where your ugly smelly feet protrude from the end exposing the worst pedicure of human existence? Uh uh, you won't get that here. Duvet covers! Yes, clean big fluffy duvet covers! And not one but TWO! One to lay on top of your big ass seat and one to cover said nasty pedicure. Private seating, where your hands can under those wonderful duvet covers and get a little playful with your sleeping boyfriend. Clean up on isle 4! joking, really wink wink. FOOD! Fucking enough to nourish a third world nation for 10 lifetimes. And served with an ever flowing fountain of alcohol. My sleeping boyfriend passed on his chocolate sundae, but sweet Jesus I knew it would go to waste if I didn't grab it (sorry Ethiopia). And as long as I am apologizing, sorry to my sweet wonderful boyfriend that I gained the weight of a baby elephant during both flights. The worst thing about my flight with Qantas in 2005 was the reason I had to take it. I lived for on Bali when the second Bali Bombing had occurred and I had to suddenly scramble for new flights to Indonesia as the airline I HAD booked with shut down because no one wanted to go there any more. Booking with Qantas at short notice was a breeze. They also took compassion on me as I had told them my circumstance. This allowed me to avoid some extra charges I normally would have incurred. The most modern planes in the Qantas fleet have a system known as Q on Demand. It's probably the best inflight entertainment I have ever seen. They provided at least 50 different movies to choose from, also offering music albums and tv shows. You could pause, rewind, skip, whatever. This funcionality was fantastic as I could go to the loo without having to worry about missing the movie! My 8 hour flight went by in a blink because I was enjoying it so much. I actually felt sad to get off the plane... I would have preferred to stay on board and keep watching movies! All other parts were also excellent - the flight was on time, there was good food and service and a nice landing too. I have used Qantas before and after this time in my life. So just used this airline last month on a last minute trip to Sydney. The price was right, considering I purchased the tickets 5 hours before departure. Ticket agent was so nice! He waived our visa fee of $25 a piece, he said to me, "Jacqueline your trip is now getting better, because I'm waiving all 3 of your visas." My reply, "Really, I love Qantas!" It was also a quick check in, me likey. The selection of movies & games in the personal units were up to par. Nice staff both flights, there & here. Last trip home to Australia I flew with V Australia and that was AWESOME so I was a little unsure of this one. I did my research and it was cheaper to buy an American Airlines ticket codeshare on a Qantas flight than it was to book direct with Qantas. As an Australian, this pissed me off but as an economical Australian travelling at Christmas, I booked it anyway and still got my points! I will pretty much only fly Qantas or V Australia there unless I plan on stopping somewhere on the way. Maybe Air NZ to visit friends but I am snob and refuse to fly indirectly. I am happy to pay for this and will never, ever fly Air China or some other airline like that or Delta which I have heard repeated is crap. Qantas now charge you $25 to pick your seat. If it wasn't a 14 hour flight I would have not have bothered but I was determined not to get a middle seat. As it was, the middle seat was vacant on both flights. SCORE!!! My flight was LAX - Sydney (Virginblue to Perth and Melbourne) then Melbourne back to LAX. The plane over was not the sparkly new A380 aka the double decker, flying cruise ship because I picked a later flight but the plane was fine, clean, the staff nice, food edible and the flight uneventful... Till landing when the pilot told us to remain in our seats because quarantine had to come on board to access a sick passenger.... Just what you want to hear after sharing air for 14 hours! Never found out what happened but we were released and I seem fine... I think!? My biggest gripe was sometime between August 2012 and December 2012 they stopped giving out the little pack with a toothbrush and toothpaste in it. I know it existed as recently as that because my mother showed me her little pack with the eyemask then. That is my favourite thing because, call me crazy, but I LIKE brushing my teeth! If I had know it wasn't on offer I would have packed my own like I did on the return flight. If I had the choice I would prefer this pack to a bag full of chips, chocolate to stuff your face with. I was also pretty cold in the window seat even though I dressed appropriately. I stole the unused blanket next to me, wrapped myself like a mummy and was fine. The return... The A380 is a sight to see and to honest I wasn't looking forward to being on board something so huge. However, once inside it didn't feel like there was an entire floor above us, though it did take extra time to refuel :) Plane was spacious, modern, clean, food edible and had self serve snacks and drinks at the back. Staff were friendly and nice! I would happily fly again. read more

I had the most wonderful international travel experience with Qantas on my recent trip to Australia. The friendliest flight attendants, comfy seats (even on crowded plane), the best food, and as Autumn J noted, the best in-flight entertainment system. Their intra-Australia service is also great! Clean planes, a great frequent flyer lounge that I got to experience thanks to my friend's FF miles, and sweet flight attendants here also. Theyre part of the alliance which includes British Airways, so if you fly to Europe frequently with BA you could also be building miles on Qantas. I can't wait to fly Qantas again... the american airline chains could stand to take a note or two! read more

The only way to go from LAX to Sydney and Melbourne to LAX!!! A great tip is to go to Australia in the middle of their winter cuz flights are cheap! well, this was a couple of years back when RT were $700 and not currently $1000+++ That was the best! It was a direct flight ... 15 hours on a flight. That's the longest I've ever been on a plane before and it was economy!!! But I LOVE the seats! I think Quantas at the time had the only flight that had economy on the 2nd floor I think all others may just have business/economy plus or higher. I had the window seat but on the side had like little compartments so your head can't hit the ceiling and you can put your feet up and just lounge. Just sucks for the person in the middle cuz it's just like being in economy in the bottom cabin hahah. read more

Horrible Airline Ever !!! They rescheduled my flights from LA to Brisbane 4 times 3 hours before departure and every time I had to call in to figure out the new departures time cuz their text and my online account wouldn't show the new scheduled. 30 min before landing in Brisbane water started leaking from the airplane sealing and dripping on my shoulder for 30 mins so had to hold my pillow against the sealing to avoid getting wet. When I told the crew after landing, they treated the matter like its normal (" oh, probably something froze in there and started melting before landing"). This was not the end of it. I booked a flight with Qantas' domestic airline (JetStar) to go to Sydney. While on the road to the airport at 5:30 AM and 1.5 hr before the departure got a text saying that my flight got canceled due to crew requirement!!! It seems that they don't have enough crew so when someone can't show up to work for the first flight in the morning, they will cancel the flight instead of delaying it. Now on the phone waiting for a live person for the past hour so I can reschedule to another of their flights or Qantas. No wondering the locals call this airline ShitStar. Hope I can find a flight otherwise have to cancel my trip Sydney. Australia is a beautiful country; however, if Qantas is the only way to come here, I suggest going to Hawaii. Shorter trip, probably cost way cheaper cuz it is really expensive in Australia, and most important airlines are safer and more reliable in U.S. Cheers read more

Best airlines ever!! Flew to NZ/Australia last August and was dreading the 16+ hour flight. However, Qantas made time fly by with its personal video/entertainment screen available on every seat. It offers hundreds of movies (even movies not on dvd yet), tv shows, news, sports, etc. I didn't even have to use my laptop or phone as entertainment. Also, the service and overall quality of Qantas made the flight comfortable and stress free. I have yet to experience anything that compares to this airline. I wish Qantas was available domestically in the US, so I could fly it all the time. If flying down under, Qantas is the way to go. read more

The Good: Yet to be seen, as for I haven't even taken my trip yet. The Average: The wait time while calling them. The Bad: They so far have screwed up a visa 5 times. They finally fixed it after charging us twice. They screwed up seats for a party of two, and "can't fix it over the phone" I have to drive 45 minutes to the air port to get it fixed (but that's not even a grantee). 18 hour flight sitting by a total stranger equals two (minimum) to four PISSED customers. There isn't a number to speak with an Agent at the LAX Qantas desk. As tempting as it is to say that I'm giving Quantas three stars for the quality of my actual trip (family related, not actually Australia related), I have a much, much simpler reason for that. As usual, I'll start with the nice things: 1. Entertainment options. I look forward to long flights because it actually gives me the opportunity to read the books gathering dust on my shelves and purchase the Star and Enquirer without feeling the least bit bad; however, while on Quantas flight, those books still kept their dust. The movie, television, and music options were outstanding and saved me a small fortune in rental fees 2. Alcohol options. I didn't actually partake in any of them, but it was nice to have it offered 3. those little cute care packages with the eye mask and socks. 4. the people on the LAX portion of the trip were amazingly friendly. 5. The phone agents. Awesome. Really. Nice, accomodating, helpful. The not so nice things my mother told me not to say: 1. OK, people, seriously, I don't expect culinary excellence on a plane, I really, really don't. But for FIVE THOUSAND U.S. DOLLARS I expect something edible. I expect to be able to see the meat under the sauce. I expect something that doesn't smell like cleaning fluid and to be able to identify the animal that I am eating. 2. ticket counter information...now, this is just MY experience, but, when I ask you, oh nice ticket counter lady, where I'm sitting, and you tell me it's the front row in economy; and go on about how much leg room I have-and I get on the damn plane to find out that you screwed up and I, in stereotypical fashion, am sandwiched between 2 large (although very nice) men for 15 freakin' hours, when I had the opportunity to switch seats upon check in, I'm going to be ROYALLY PISSED OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ***now, really, if it weren't for this, I would've going with 4 stars, but this was a preventable mistake. 3. snacks. really, people. more snack options. read more

3.5 stars: I flew Quantas from Melbourne to Sydney and was unimpressed. It wasn't as bad as Delta, but I guess having flown Virgin Blue thoughout Australia, I expect Quantas to have this exceptional "Rainman-level of service". The one huge positive were the quietness of the Airbus plane. If you expect Virgin-like service, you'll be bit disappointed. I wil give them a second chance, though. read more

My flights on Qantas were spectacular by a long way. I cannot imagine why anyone could fault this airline. The flight attendants on all my sectors were lovely and helpful to everyone; not just me. Having travelled with Qantas before, everything had improved greatly. Normally, I don't eat much on a flight but Qantas had the best catering and I consumed all of the food that was given. The entertainment was great as well, but I believe that it could be improved. The aircraft was comfortable and the atmosphere was great. I definitely recommend this airline to anyone wishing to travel on Qantas. The airfare was cheap which was an added bonus. read more

Im on a plane at LAX right now and its really great. Super clean, good looking male attendants and friendly females. Everyone has been super helpful in getting me onto my flight with great service and helpful prompts. Really really appreciated. One immigration guy on the walkway to the plane was kind of a jerk but i guess thats his job. Quite spacious seating with personal televisions in every seat means my entertainment needs are met and i really have no complaints. Other than the fact im about to be in this fucking tin can for fifteen god forsaken hours. read more

Flying Qantas is so much better than flying domestic US that I'd be hard pressed to find anything bad to say! I flew from New York (JFK) through LAX, and then between Cairns, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney. The service was constant and attentive. From the lemonade for everyone at the start of the flight, to the meals including free wine (international flights only I think) and dessert, to the wide range of movies, tv, and music, I really enjoyed my time! One thing I will say is that I got "upgraded" to the bulkhead row on the second leg of the international flight. Even though you get more floor space (there are no seats in front of you, just a wall), I found it less comfortable. You can't keep a bag with you under the seat, it was drafty (bad for me), and the TV and tray fold out of the seat arm, making them less sturdy and a little in the way. So I will definitely not pick a bulkhead seat again. But if you're a tall guy who just wants leg room and doesn't need anything, go for it. I will certainly recommend Qantas and fly them again when I get the chance! read more
