Salad served with soup and 1/2 sandwich

Solid diner food. Best I've had in a while and the price is reasonable. The vibe is clean Americana 80s with matching music. Very pleasant. Service was also on point . I'll be coming back

    BLT with fried zucchini
    Erin T.

First time at this location because the other Torrance location closed. I didn't think there would be a difference in the food since it's the same restaurant chain, but unfortunately was pretty disappointed :/ My family and I got BLTs with fried zucchini sticks. Portions were very small. The other location used to give more than 3 pieces of zucchini. The bacon, lettuce & tomato inside the sandwich were also pushed all the way to the edge of the sandwich to make it appear that it was stuffed, but there were hardly any ingredients inside. After a few bites, I was just left with lettuce & mostly bread! I expected a bigger portion due to the price, and I expected consistency with their other location! Their ranch was also super watery and lacked ranch flavor! I really think the other location in Torrance that closed was better. I hope this location changes some things!

    Daily Specials update
    Dave A.

Update of daily specials: this is a significant price increase but this is still a good deal! Service was a bit slow but it was fairly busy for a Tuesday night only one server and one busser. All three of us had the chicken fried steak special. The beef barley soup was very good. They must have noticed my soup size comment because we were served a bowl not a cup It's a better deal than the Senior menu because you have a choice of two sides instead of just one plus dessert Please help keep these clean and comfortable value restaurants open. They are slowly disappearing

    Popeye Omelette

Good place to have breakfast with ample seating. My party of 6 ordered and food was out in around 15 minutes. The servers do an excellent job coming around refilling coffees and drinks, which is super nice. My Popeye omelette was delicious; it was generously loaded with spinach, mushrooms, and onions. I didn't particularly love the way the cheese was slathered on top of the omelette (wish it was inside), but it was still delicious. The hash browns were scrumptious as well.

Great fast service, our server was very attentive. Our food came out fast, and we really enjoyed our meals! :) We definitely be back for the San Franciscan and the Tuna melt :)

Tuna salad with 2 Tablespoon scoops of Tuna
    Donnie S.

I ordered a TUNA SALAD. PROS: Thank you for slicing the boiled egg. Thank you for dicing the tomatoes. (saves me time) The amount of Thousand Island dressing was good... I didn't have to ask for more. CON: Barely any tuna. (my normal spot is currently remodeling... And they have 2X the amount of tuna for $7 cheaper)

Chicken Breast Dinner! portions have got smaller ! not good for what you pay for!
    Raymond R.

I have been coming to eat at "Spire's" a long time and the quality and taste of the food have always been good and you always got nice sizeable portions But this last time, the chicken beast was MIA! it was a wasted $20.00 for this meal!

Pork chops with baked potato and zucchini sticks

Always down for Spire's! I miss the one in Monrovia, CA. We were on our way to another restaurant near here and immediately made a U-turn to Spire's! Love their daily specials! Comes with soup, salad, 1 side and dessert! Tuesday night was chicken fried steak and they give you the option of meat! My daughter got the steak. I'm not to fond of chicken fried steak so I got the pork chops! Another great dish! The pork chops were plump, fat n juicy! The server gave us all the fixin's! They were extremely busy, which is great to see! They only had 2 servers/cashier and one cook that night, but they worked as quick as they could! Some customers were getting upset due to the wait for food, but come on... have some compassion. They are there doing their best with what they had. You always have the option to eat at home.

Waiters kept checking on us. Got the mild Buffalo Wings for $14 and Parmesan Fries for $6. The wings were good. The Parmesan Fries were really good, they didn't skimped on the Parmesan. The interior is neat and clean. There are various types of seating (bar; table; booth; high-tops; communal), and plenty of screens to watch sports. On this occasion, I ordered the Tavern Fish & Chips ($22). It is described as "Alaskan cod coated in a tempura beer batter and served with French fries, tartar sauce and yuzu herb coleslaw". The positives of this dish are that it was prepared well. Both the fish and chips tasted good. The presentation was also nice; which leads to the coleslaw: The coleslaw tasted good, too; but I was surprised the serving was so spare. It's almost as if it was served just to optically balance the presentation in the basket. (See photo shared,) And while the price was not unreasonable, feel it's creeping towards expensive (relative to serving size). I'll attribute this to rising input costs. Staffing might be an issue during the lunchtime service. Service was okay, but they seemed to be understaffed. It's possible that most of their business is done after 5pm.

Everything came out good for the whole party and no complaints about the food at all... The restaurant itself is old and the inside shows it....but that is part of the classic ambiance at the restaurant.... It is difficult to maneuver through and they utilized the space inside very well...I thought it was a small restaurant looking a it from the outside but it actually can hold a good amount of people. Maybe get better bread knives is my only complaint....it was hard to cut the sourdough easily with the knives given.... Definitely recommend this place to anybody who likes steak/prime rib/even salmon.... By the way I passed it on the first drive by because the parking entrance is just before the restaurant and 1 way meaning if a car is coming out you can't fit another car to come in....but if you go around the residential area you can pull in from the side street before going back on Sepulveda...

This is basically a high quality oven roasted rib eye steak. If you crave Prime Rib, what makes this a good meal is it comes with bread, soup and a baked potato and the cut comes in 3 sizes to choose from. The service is friendly and fast and this is family styled, no dress code nor any frills of ambiance. It's like a bar lounge with karaoke in the front and formal (casual) dining in the back Parking is easy, but remember this... If driving down Sepulveda and the Sam Franciscan is going to be on your right side... then the parking lot you want to pull into is on your right side BEFORE the San Franciscan yellow sign. If you pass it and pull into the next lot, it locks you in and does not connect to the restaurant and you'll then need to turn around pull out then get back onto Sepulveda, turn right onto Crenshaw and then reach the San Franciscan parking lot from the back or if confused you get back onto Sepulveda from there and try to park again and not miss the correct parking position of their parking lot.

My other friend was told they didn't have the exact glass and it took a while for them to bring out the beer. We had three kids with us and the kids food took forever and the portions were small. Refills on sodas took a while. They were overloaded with ice. As for my food, the pizza looked good from the top but there was no crisp, no chew to the crust. I ordered their pepperoni. I felt the rosemary was overpowering. The undercarriage was blonder than a golden locked surfer. Some of the meals required utensils and we had to repeatedly ask for utensils, only to have them eventually hand out low budget plastic to-go cutlery. I guess it was better than eating the slaw with the fingers. The server was apologetic. One of us ordered a burger. The bun disintegrated. It was a gluten free bun. Boyyy did we finally find our spot!! Reminds me of those awesome family-owned neighborhood bars back in Champaign-Urbana (yes, Illinos but we're Angelenos)...the kind you don't really plan for, but end up talking about later. We've been here twice now and honestly? We love it! First time, there was live music, open mic night. Just people showing up, putting their heart out there. No pretentious vibe, just good energy. Second time, there was line dancing. And if you bought one of the drinks you got a raffle ticket for free classes. Completely different night, same welcoming feel. How cool is that?!! The thing about this place is that it shifts, but sort of still feels like home. The first night it was raining, and they let us bring in our 3-month-old poodle, Kopi, without hesitation. Not only that! they offered him a blanket!!! A blanket!!! For our dog!!! Yeah...that told me everything. They kept checking in on us, making sure we were taken care of, recommending drinks like we were regulars. And there were clearly many regulars there. Drinks were solid...good cider, good beer, good mixed drinks. And the food? Omg! The food!!! Honestly fucking underrated (can I curse?). Way better than you'd expect from a bar, though to be fair some of the best food I've had has been from a bar's kitchen.. You know.... the kind of food where you take a bite...and your eyebrow rises just a tad...you pause and are like....okay wait, this is really freaking good! Nothing about this place is trying too hard and that's exactly why it works. It's just people, music, drinks, awesome food....and a space that feels lived in. We'll definitely be back.
