Super Spike Burger with Beer Cheese
    Joseph T.

Spikes Keg O Nails has been an enjoyable spot for me and my friends to drop by when we're in the Grayling area. They have a fairly large menu offering your typical bar foods like fried appetizers and burgers as shown in the picture. The servers there have always been friendly and attentive and the restaurant has a great atmosphere to pair.

Spike burger with sweet potato fries! Great lunch stop!!

Great ambiance! Enjoyed sitting at the bar (bar stools were roomy and comfy). Had their burger - a little overdone but still very tasty. Sweet potato fries were excellent!

Super small summer salad for $13.

Awful place. Food was terrible. I ordered a summer salad for $13 and it was served in a plastic side salad bowl with 7 chunks of chicken and dressing in a packet. My companion ordered a patty melt that was SOAKED with grease. The grease was actually dripping on his hands. It was served with stale potato chips. Service was bad. Server never checked back after delivering food. Hard to believe that people gave this place good reviews because it sucked.

Ok, this place is PACKED. We went on a Thursday night and everything from the wait to the actual physical people. The interior was very...Let's just say you're getting close to the UP. The food was average; wasn't super amazing nor was it just gross. I was expecting more from the Spike Burger. Next time I go, I'll get the super version of it. Definitely military friendly as well. I'm guess it's because Camp Grayling is like right there.

Spikes has been here a long time and is a tradition for many. Parents have eaten here for years. Very classic "camp Grayling" vibe with a simple menu and basic bar selection. The prices are high to average and the quality of food is slightly below divebar expectations. Some things we liked: Although the burgers were smallish, they tasted good. The fries and onion rings were great despite being over-priced add ons. The old pictures inside are neat. Some things we didn't like: The prices are steep for a dive bar, every burger in our group was cooked the same, I don't know why they bothered to ask our preference. The waitstaff was indifferent to everyone, mostly competent but not caring or interesting in anyway. The food is boring. The evening bartender is a jerk (Michael?), and they want $4 bucks to upgrade your side from chips to fries. The chips are better, actually. One thing that Spike should address immediately: if someone calls your business 3x and tries to give a heads up that a group of 10 is coming and can you accommodate them, asks if there are reservations and you tell them, "no but we can put you in a side/back room" all three times; maybe don't treat them like garbage when they arrive and try to tell you that the afternoon bartender said it was handled... Your hostess and evening bartender were rude and insisted "we have never taken reservations, you must be mistaken". While that may be true, it rubs people the wrong way when you call them a liar (Michael). Either teach all of your staff the rules, or let people with groups call ahead. At the very least don't blame your customers for your organization's short-comings. So to summarize, Spike's is a local dive bar with burgers, smelt, sandwiches and beer. If you have more than 4 people in your group, skip this place for sure. There are better options in town and you will be happier over all. It's a bit over priced and seems to live off of tradition. If you came here a lot in the past, it may not live up to your memories. If you really like eating here for some reason, by all means carry on - you won't get sick and they have beer and mostly the same menu. We won't be back.

    Chilli and Philly Streak!

Northern Michigan classic. Never had a bad meal here. Check the specials. Chili is my go to but the burgers are solid. Great stop!

I grabbed some delicious snacks to keep me going and had the chance to try a few local beers. Each sip was a delightful taste of the area! The decor is charming and adds to the nostalgic vibe, making it the perfect spot to relax and soak in the memories shared by those who frequent it. Curds were enough for a table of four. Overall taste of the food, however, is average. Despite being a good looking B&B Burger, the bacon was burnt and the burger itself didn't have much seasoning. I expected to bite in tasting a medley of flavors, but each bite was just okay. Maybe if I had a yeasty beverage or two before eating, it might help raise my opinion? TABLE SERVICE: Waitresses were prompt and helpful. BARTENDERS: Remember those honey badger YouTube videos (narrated by Randall) from 2011/12? That's what I think of when I read Yelper reviews from Brittany H. and Jay V. [in the voice of Randall]: *Mitchell Street bartenders don't care; they do what they want!* For example, when the popular 80s song, Your Love by the Outfield, came on, the 'tender on duty decided to turn it up to 11...and left it there for half the song. Locals seemed unfazed, but visitors got to the point they asked the waitress if they could turn it down. I'm guessing he didn't much care for the feedback, because he then played the song twice more. *If you're up for a rowdy atmosphere with an array of local beverages + solid bar food, I encourage you to step into this windowless venue! If you're looking for a nice, sit down meal and great tasting main dishes (OR you're allergic to peanuts)...best walk to Tap 30 next door.

The slight cherry tang invthe bbq sauce created a very appetizing taste. The wings were cooked perfectly and I highly enjoyed them. I ordered the Pork Chop dinner ($29). This is a local michigan-raised pork with a cherry apple chutney. The pork chop was excellent and the cherry apple chutney was a great addition. It came with mashed potatoes and a cucumber corn medley. They both were very good. North Peak Brewing makes their own Root Beer. Honestly that why I chose to come here. Thankfully the Root Beer was excellent. The service was friendly, but not very efficient. I think they are short staffed because the bar tender was also my waiter and he was busy bartendering! Overall I still rate this a 5 star review. The Wings, Pork Chop, and Root Beer were all excellent and I would return for any of them. So yes I would Return.

I haven't been here for years, and was so happy to see that the menu still had my favorite Monte Cristo and beer cheese soup! Prices are high because it's Traverse City, so that doesn't bother me and you get the soup for 5 bucks when you add it to a meal! Nice! We started with the calamari - small portion, but it was hot and fresh and plenty for 2 people to share. I also had a small house salad, and added white cheddar for $1 (that was a good suggestion from our server Kylie!). The pesto ranch was great too. I love their main IPA, they do a great job, and it is always on the menu (versus seasonal). I love how this place is laid out, there are lots of wooden booths that feel quiet and private. The only reason for taking off a star is the parking. It's incredible that for a large restaurant, they share a small lot with multiple businesses. Everything else is great and you will appreciate the consistency and the spaciousness of this restaurant!
