Rays has great food for bbq in Grayling. We also used to come here for a good cocktail, but it has really gone downhill. Came in tonight and ordered their version of the espresso martini. It was like Carmel chocolate milk. Then I ordered their mezcal margarita - my favorite. It was served in a martini glass with no ice. What!?! Will not come here for cocktails any longer - only if we want beer/wine. Very disappointing.

The restaurant was busy and the booths to small for 6 of us so we sat at the bar which worked out very well. The bartender and server, Robin, was great. She knew about the beer and menu. We all had a good meal. No happy hour. Beer prices $6-7.

This is a great spot if you're looking for some quick BBQ in Grayling, I've been here several times and personally for a sit down joint this seems to be the best BBQ in the area. Everything I've had has been exquisite, especially the Lobster Mac and Cheese which is a must try when stopping in. The service is great, and the atmosphere is welcoming for big parties!

I enjoyed the bbq & the sides. Bbq is one of my favorite foods. This was very good and a generous 1/2 lbs serving. The spicy bbq beans were particularly good!

The brisket (that was recommended) was like jerky. I ordered half and half (half point and half flat). Both dry and tough - unless you ate a bite of just the fat, but that was gross. The side of bbq sauce couldn't save the brisket. The side mac was small and nothing to write home about. The blue cheese slaw was interesting and won me over because it helped the few bites of brisket I did eat go down. The bartender was nice and the Founders Rubaeus I had while waiting for my carryout was excellent, of course. It was a long wait, as they were busy, so the beer helped. Maybe the patrons knew something I didn't know, such as what to order. But again, the brisket was recommended by the bartender. Perhaps carry out orders aren't given the same attention. I don't know. My drive was less than 10 minutes and I opened the food right away because I was excited to eat it. It was very disappointing to realize what I just paid for and anticipated eating was a bbq fail. Here's to hoping I can find something better in Grayling tomorrow ...

Great service and the food is fresh. My favorite on the platter we had is the rib. All the meats were well seasoned. They have three bbq sauces to choose from, but you don't really need them. The Almost Famous fries were nothing special. The Mac and cheese is spiral noodles covered with a cheese sauce. It was ok. I enjoyed the corn bread. Service was great. They have indoor and outdoor seating. There is an inside bar. There is plenty of parking in the attached lot.

Great food. Deviled eggs were amazing.. The spicy Ray BBQ sauce was my favorite. We got the Brisket sandwich and the salad and everything was great. Service was great too. The back patio was awesome on the Au Sable river.

The food is phenomenal. I get the pulled yard bird sandwich and the sweet creeper heat chili *almost exclusively, ask them for cheese, sour cream and onion if it's your thing. Side note, the cornbread and cinnamon butter are also amazing. They have a Cobb salad that is a close second for me. You can eat and relax indoors and outdoors on the patio during the summer right on the famed Ausable River. They have 30 craft beers on tap too. The only thing I've noticed is the turn over in servers since they've opened. Service is great 90% of the time. Because of the turnover and what I'm assuming is the learning curve, you get the one off of delayed service. A must try if you're in the area and want a memorable bbq experience. Today's drink was Cheboygan's Blackberry Blonde Pale Ale.

A creek-aide lunch with amazing food and service. The brisket was moist and flavorful and the fries just by themselves are worth the visit

They were so filling that I almost ordered another round, but honestly, one order was more than enough. I even took two home in a doggy bag and ate them cold later without reheating or even dipping them in the sauce and they were still absolutely delicious! The atmosphere is amazing. There's a beautiful view, a patio, a rooftop, and TVs everywhere on the main floor, so you won't miss a second of the game. Whether you're there to catch sports, enjoy the scenery, or just have a great meal, they've got you covered. The service was friendly, fast, and the restaurant was clean. The staff works hard, so don't forget to tip! Everyone was so welcoming, and the food was delicious at a great price. I saw families with kids enjoying themselves while others were watching the game and friends were high-fiving over a beer. It truly has that welcoming, family atmosphere that makes you want to come back. I'll definitely be visiting again!

"Do you need something?"…read more I walked in on a Tuesday, just before the dinner rush. There were a few customers there already, some sitting at the bar, others placing to-go orders, and some scattered tables. In evaluating the relaxed pace of the two young ladies behind the bar and one the floor, this was not their busy time. I sat at the bar, looking at their beer menu on the wall and compared to their online descriptions, trying to decide what I'd like to try. Several minutes passed without acknowledgment from either staff members. No napkin, no "I'll be with you in a sec!" that's typical of any establishment. I am not inexperienced with restaurant operations; this was uncomfortably unusual behavior. As if I wasn't welcome there for some reason. Finally, after enough time had passed to where I was contemplating just leaving, one of them finally looked at me while she was walking by and uttered that phrase. I was so caught off-guard that I stammered while asking for a flight. I picked the four that interested me, she poured them, then left. No engagement, no conversation about the beers, nothing typical of a brewery proud of its product. The attitude reminded me of another metro Detroit brewery's snobbish standoffishness. Like how they're xenophobic about anyone who isn't a regular but how does one become a regular if they don't welcome you in the first place? After other customers came in, sat near me at the bar, were obviously also first-timers, immediately welcomed with menus and told of the dinner specials, that's when I knew. I was not welcome there. And the only reason I can surmise is my appearance. My behavior wasn't it (and I'm familiar enough with reactions to Internet reviews that are atypical to immediately blame the reviewer instead of considering uncomfortable possibilities). I was received brusquely, not offered a food menu, and only got one check-in -- again, unusual behavior for a brewery and I've been to countless ones around the country. It struck me that my last experience with implicit bias was also in the Traverse City region. I hated to admit the possibility but the anecdotal evidence was clear. I imagine that if I'd been a White man in a collared shirt and chinos, my experience may have been different. Obviously, I can't prove it and if there's an owner response to this review, it'll be full of cliches about how this isn't who or what they are, etc. The establishments in downtown are far more welcoming, so it was a relief when my fellow conference attendees mercifully texted me to say where they were going for dinner. I paid my bill with a modicum of a tip and resolved to strike Stone Hound from my list. For the rest of my business trip, I spread my money instead to places that didn't treat me like an unwanted outsider. Plenty of them in TC, including another brewery in town.
