As always, Ma Deeters in Luzerne MI foes not dissapoint. Arrived for a late lunch on a Thursday afternoon. The place had 15 guests or so, music playing, and great smells from the kitchen. We started with cheese curds and brussel sprouts. The apps were yummy. All three of us ordered the wet burritos. They were good size and tasted great. Been going here since I was young with my grand parents...use to be a great local comfort bar with great food & awesome bar burgers...now they have changed their menu ...no vegan burger anymore (I AM A VEGAN) no longer offer even a chicken wrap ...unfortunately they are trying to make this a high end restaurant when most are on fixed incomes in the area ..we made this a family place & unfortunately seems that to is now in the past...so best of luck you honestly have lost some loyal customers read more

Several years have passed since the old lodge burned down, and the community suffered a historic loss. This place has been rebuilt from the ashes and is now better than ever! I love stopping here. The food, staff, and patrons blend to create a fun experience. First, the food. They offer an excellent menu of local favorites and add regular specials that are often a surprise. The Saturday Night Prime Rib is as good as any I have had in high-end places. Second, the staff is friendly and fun. We always provide excellent service; you can count on them to go above and beyond. Recently, they allowed us to stay after closing to catch the overtime finish of a game we were watching. Third, the patrons. We live within driving distance of the restaurant but haven't stopped here since the fire and rebuilding. We decided we'd like a 'bar-burger' and decided to give Ma's a try. The building is clean, bright and nicely decorated in an 'up North' motif. We came for burgers, but the 'special' was chicken quesadilla. We weren't disappointed. The wait staff were nicely dressed and no sleazy tattoos. Our waitress was minimally attentive, but pleasant when she made an appearance. Love this place, the food is great and the people are even better, my favorite place up in this neck of the woods.

We really do enjoy the food at this restaurant. Friday fish fries, the baked cod or their shrimp dishes, even the burgers and gyro sandwiches are all really good. The reason I'm knocking a star off is the ambiance in the place. Okay, we are up north and it's casual dining, but they blast hard rock music all day. If we are going to meet another couple, we choose not to go here because the music is so loud and frankly, I'm just not into head banger music with my dinner. This is piped in music, not a jukebox. If they played some soft rock maybe during the day, turned the volume down a notch or two and saved the hard rock for after 8 or 9, we'd be there more often. read more

I had the Gryo and it was the best one I've ever had. This is common for me to order since it's not something I make at home. Most places fill It with lettuce and tomatoes. Not here lots of feta that you can actually taste in every bite. Tons of meat and sauce which was delicious. Husband had the philly steak sandwich which he raved about and said it was the best he's had. The bread was amazing that they use. He upgraded to fries that are breaded and fried. I would recommend the upgrade even though the homemade chips were delicious too. Definitely worth the wait. First time here. Have heard good things before they had the fire. Not so good since. Went on Sunday about 4pm. The only tables available needed to be bussed so we had to wait for one to be cleared. Once seated and our drink order taken you could see they were under staffed. Took forever for her to come back with the drinks and take our order. Had to ask for drink refills. Ma Deeters is as good as it gets in this neck of the north woods. Great food, large portions and good service. Mr & Mrs Evans are classic restaurant hosts who stop by your table to make you feel welcome and seek feedback about your meal and service. We make it a point to have at least one meal at Deeters when we're in the area. My personal favorites on their menu are parmesan cod, chicken quesadilla and the Reuben sandwich. read more

We had a good time celebrating a birthday there. The pizza was very good, and we enjoyed the drinks as well. The place is family friendly, so bringing children along was not a problem. Up North Bar with the UP North feel!! Been going to Ma Deeter's for about 5 years now. We go mostly in the winter by snowmobile but have been in the summer a few times (obviously, not on snowmobiles- LOL!). If there is good snow you can find 25-50 snowmobiles in the parking lot on the weekends. The bar is an old log cabin and from what I was told it was a brothel at one time. They still have the rooms upstairs but dont rent them out by the hour anymore!! There food is good for a bar and pizza is DAM good! They have specials most nights from fish fry to steak dinners and server a good drink. In the summer they have a large outdoor patio with a bonfire pit and sometimes have bands or DJs. If you like a bar with character you will like this place. Not fancy, not a dive, just a bar that has a good feel with quaity food and drinks. read more

My Dad, husband and I went to Ma Deeter's on New Years Eve for dinner. There was quite a snowstorm going on and we didn't want to travel far. They had a prime rib special for today which my Dad and husband both had. They said it was very good! I had a bowl of chili which was good. It came piping hot, the way I like my food. I usually have to send my food back in order to get it hot. The guys agreed that it would have made their meal complete if it had come with a roll, breadsticks or garlic toast. Let me begin with, "Wait - what? Ma Deeter's isn't open for breakfast anymore?" I have been camping in Luzerne for 20+ years (year 'round) with anywhere from 3 to 10 other people. We used to go to Ma Deeters two or three meals per day and often-times drink there long into the night. We spent more money in there than I'd care to admit. The place was almost always packed with people eating and drinking. I had heard from several people that Ma Deeter's had changed and was now catering to a "different crowd" (horseback riders instead of motorcycle riders and /snowmobilers I think?) I am camping in Luzerne this weekend with my family and couldn't wait for breakfast at Ma Deeters. Instead, we had to drive 7+ miles into Mio. I wish them luck with their new new clientele. I'll be spending more time/money in Mio. read more

The only thing I can complain about is a longer wait time on busy days, but that's to be expected! The wifi is fast, the food is almost perfect, the wait staff has been much faster lately... A lot of the complaints we used to have are taken care of. Its not the Deeters it used to be, get over it! It's a great place to get some food and a bad ass hand made bar to sit at for a drink. Racks are out on the floor to hang your riding gear on too and the floors are concrete so don't worry about tracking mud in. It looks great on the inside but you don't need to feel uncomfortable walking in there dirty from the trail. Can't wait for our many trips to Ma Deeters this year! read more

This place is great! The owners are so incredibly nice and the food is super good. A little expensive, but items like the fried green beans and the key lime pie are the best in the area. They have removed the $33.00 snow crab legs from the menu, can't imagine that was a big seller. Nice bar area, terrible draft beer selection. Ma Deeter's reopened last week after being destroyed by fire about a year ago. My wife and I had dinner there twice last week and both meals were good. One evening we had a pizza which was very good. The other evening was on Friday and both couples had the fish special which was also very good with huge portions. Our waitress on Friday was Andrea and she was excellent! The beer selection is also adequate. My only negative comment is that it is noisy. read more

Went there today with a friend. He ordered a dozen chicken wings. I ordered the chef salad. Good size portions, but the wings were flavorless. Much better wings in other local restaurants for the same price or cheaper. $11 for a dozen wings. The chef salad was good, fresh ingredients. But beware they charge you if you ask for additional salad dressing. Really? 50 cents for an extra sauce. Maybe it was our server "Sue". Didn't walk out like the last two visits when you are told to take a seat and then no one comes to your table. This time we were waited on by Jason, he is new here. Needs lot more training and needs to learn how to smile. The restaurant was not crowded but like many visits took longer than should of for food to arrive.
