I didn't order food--I could do just as well eating something off the sidewalk, I thought. Inspired by the good reviews here, I went back this week. What a change! New wood paneling on the walls, a very clean atmosphere overall with lots of natural light. And good craft beers. I ordered the chicken-bacon-ranch salad and was impressed. Lettuce was fresh and finely cut, meat was tender and generously portioned, with enough bacon to provide an accent but not dominate the salad. Salads at small bar-and-grill operations are sometimes a dicey bet, but Mio Saloon nailed it. Don't get me wrong--this place hasn't been yuppified. It's still a down to earth small town bar catering to a biker clientele. It also seems to be a spot where locals just meet to have lunch and chat, dragging the kids along. The vibe might be different at night. I get up to Mio a few times a year, and I plan to find out next time I do.

The fries were fine, nothing special. The ranch dressing, however, was genuinely unpleasant -- easily the low point of the meal. Atmosphere: Right around 6:00 PM, a live band started up. For a restaurant setting, that felt far too early -- most venues wait until around 7:30 PM before live music kicks in. The result was that conversations became nearly impossible, customers were shouting to be heard, and servers were struggling to take orders accurately. It added to an already disorganized environment. Worth noting: Fox News was running on the TVs, which may matter to some guests. The Positives: The place was clean, and the golf course is genuinely beautiful and well maintained. However, I did notice some significant trimming of the pine trees -- hopefully they don't continue cutting them up that high, as the natural wooded feel is a big part of the appeal up there. Don't recall exactly what it was but it was pretty good! Another night I decided to order their hawaiian pizza since I heard it was different than any other. Somehow after 3 pairs of shoes, 4 drinks and 1 game each, got charged $20, asked the part owner, the one who rung it up and she first said because it's a holiday, then we said its not a holiday and it's happy hour... then she said oh that's right I hit the wrong button and instead of refunding the difference she refunded the whole thing and then recharged the original card... and this is a part owner. Glad that I live somewhere where they have functioning businesses and adequate staff to run them, the only reason we came here was because it's the only place in the town. Next time when we visit and the kids want to bowl we'll take the 45 drive and pay the difference for a better place.

Dan & Lindsey Schneider now run Hinchman Acres. The customer service they provided was top notch. They have gone way out of their way to make my family stay up here exceptional! The food is definitely targeted towards men's golf outings. The courses are in bad shape, the bunkers were not raked, the green had bald spots and the bunkers are mostly dirt. I could accept some of it but there were at least 9 kids standing around on the course chatting and looking at their phones. This place was my wife's and I favorite place to go and stay to golf. Our room had "spa shower ". the spa nozzles were plugged and the final straw was the TV did not work. It pains me to do write this review I had hoped to relive the wonderful tomes we spent here over the years but sadly it's just a money pit.
