Great bar food and always busy. Don't be afraid to bring the family, it's not a rough place.

I'd been here once a number of years ago, at which time this place was truly a dive. Walls were covered in very well-worn carpet, the place was almost too dim to see in (in the afternoon), the beer selection was very poor. I think I had a Blatz. I didn't order food--I could do just as well eating something off the sidewalk, I thought. Inspired by the good reviews here, I went back this week. What a change! New wood paneling on the walls, a very clean atmosphere overall with lots of natural light. And good craft beers. I ordered the chicken-bacon-ranch salad and was impressed. Lettuce was fresh and finely cut, meat was tender and generously portioned, with enough bacon to provide an accent but not dominate the salad. Salads at small bar-and-grill operations are sometimes a dicey bet, but Mio Saloon nailed it. Don't get me wrong--this place hasn't been yuppified. It's still a down to earth small town bar catering to a biker clientele. It also seems to be a spot where locals just meet to have lunch and chat, dragging the kids along. The vibe might be different at night. I get up to Mio a few times a year, and I plan to find out next time I do. read more

Great small town bar and grill. Friendly bar staff. Lots of local regulars. We had beer and their large pretzel with beer cheese. Good tap selection. Their pretzel are homemade and they are AWESOME! It was so good and such a pleasant surprise that we ordered another which was just as good. They also give you a generous cup of cheese. Yum! We weren't super hungry or we would have tried more off their menu. Everything being served looked delicious. The prices are super reasonable too. This is our go to stop whenever we are in Lio. read more

I eat here often and don't eat much at a sitting but I am quite picky. These girls know what I drink and have it for me when they see me come in the door, bringing my Dad in for a meal and drink. I have medical issues and can't eat greasy food but that's not a problem here. I love that they keep trying out new menu items and they're a hit so here to stay. Check Mio Saloon out. We were passing through town and needed some lunch. We stopped here based on other reviews. We were not disappointed! They have outdoor seating. Some is covered and some is in the sun, whatever your preference, they can accommodate you. There was only one bartender/server. To be fair it was a Thursday about noon when we stopped. Jody was friendly and let us know when we approached the bar that she was the only one and if we sat outside we would need to come inside to place our order. They had a nice selection of craft beers. We ordered an Octoberfest from Left Hand Brewing. We had the Biker Burger and the Philly on Texas Toast per Jody's recommendation. We were both very happy with our meals. They were hot and delicious. We use to get the fish dinners on Friday all the time, and they use to be great. Today we ordered take out 3 piece fish dinners (Friday all you can eat fish) and the pieces of fish were very tiny, hardly any fries, and no rolls. WON'T be getting it anymore, or coming in to eat! read more

The worst burger EVER!!! I ordered the patty melt rare and guess what? SHOE LEATHER! Inedible! They couldn't have gotten it more well done if they tried! Cross this place off my list! Too bad cause this place is cozy with friendly employees. read more

WOW what a deal. Taco Tuesday $1.75 for a huge soft shell meat, tomato, onion, lettuce and cheese. If you wanted guacamole on it a big blob for additional $.75 well worth it. Service was great. We will be back for sure. read more

Pros: Cool atmosphere, very good service, quality food, good prices and lots of nearby (and free parking). Cons: Very popular so bring your patience as you'll probably wait about 30 minutes for your food order. The Hot Blond Wife stopped in after a round of golf for the traditional Friday Night Fish Fry and we were not disappointed. All-You-Can-Eat Perch dinner for $16.00 and one serving will be enough for all but the biggest eaters. Great bar scene with a good variety of beers. Great atmosphere. Small menu, which I actually prefer for a bar. However, if you're not a local, you're treated like you don't matter. That might be the way they like it. Not sure. Had 2 beers and a bowl of chili. Told the bartender that I wanted to cash out when she got a chance. She proceeded to take 4 orders from different tables and 2 guys that sat down at the bar. April and Gary, I know Michigan law allows you to charge a "cork-fee" if someone brings wine into the saloon. Instead of charging a $25.00 fee perhaps you should simply ask how much the bottle of wine costs and charge that instead of a $25.00 fee. Your "airplane" bottles of Chardonnay are not terribly appetizing to a sophisticated wine palate, hence the desire to have a tasty bottle of wine. Not to worry, I won't do it again. This is my favorite up north place to eat when I come to Mio to visit my Dad. The menu is limited but it's all excellent!! I have had their Taco Tuesday Special, their Chili and their Friday fish and shrimp! All are superb! The shrimp is colossal and to die for! The owners are super nice! All of the staff is nice and does a great job. If you are in Mio to camp, visit, canoeing, for the canoe races or just passing through, be sure to stop in Mio Saloon. read more

We stopped in for a quick dinner after setting up camp. I was pleasantly surprised at this clean and friendly bar. The gentleman behind the bar was one of the best servers I've ever had. He was polite, explained the menu, provided recommendations and even poured my beer. The coneys were amazing and for only $1.25, it seemed unreal. If you're rolling through this small town make sure and stop in and visit this gem. I can't wait to visit there again on our next trip! read more

The owner's are very welcoming and the staff is fun, limited menu but food is good. Nice tap beer selection 3 domestics and 3 craft beers. Nice crowd of people. Literally the only bar to go in Mio. Over the past years the owners have improved this place with recent new carpeting and tables and chairs. read more

Its ok for the dive-y type. We stopped for a drink last summer and it needs to be cleaned and fixed up. Has tv and pool table.
