Really nice bar/restaurant. The food is what you would expect if ordering from a bar "but more". Nice selection of food choices where the quality of the food is quite good where the price will not break the bank. For my first meal here I got the 1/2 lb barbecue bacon cheese burger and chips. Burger qualified as a two hander for sure where the meat was well cooked, very juicy and with nice taste. No overcooked dry burger here. The house wine I ordered was a smooth daily drinker for $5.50 which I could drink all day long. Relative to staff and the facility, this Bar fits the perception of what you think of when thinking of your stereotypical "Up North" bar. Wood on the wall, wood on the ceiling with log beams, Wood accents everywhere to include a live edge wood counter top with log structure in the middle of the bar adjacent to the pool table. Even though it has this rustic design it is a very clean and inviting on the inside adding so much to the overall dining experience. Nice! Aside from the rustic decor, there are quite a few TV's located throughout the bar/restaurant making this a nice place to go for a bite to eat while watching the big game. Relative to staff, very friendly and prompt with good follow up and clearly another strength of this business. Overall, good food at a fair price with a nice casual ambiance is hard to beat, especially on game day. If you are in the greater Oscoda area this is definately a restaurant that should be checked out. There are not that many restaurants in this area that offer you the quality and value for a meal that this business does. read more

I could go on and on about the experience my family and I had here. Instead, I will keep it short and sweet. The food was amazing and delicious. Even the pickiest among us was more than satisfied. The service was unparalleled. Friendly, prompt even during busy times (the place was hopping!), and attentive. The ambiance is 100% northern Michigan. Exactly what you'd expect, no more and no less. Highly recommend this bar & grill. Service was outstanding and food was delicious and hot. We ordered the blue cheese burger and a BLT. Burger was filled with blue cheese and the BLT was loaded with bacon. French fries were crispy on the outside and creamy inside. BLT normally served on rye but requested ciabatta--sandwich actually came on a bread similar to a fry bread, but worked well with the sandwich. I got to Oscoda a day ahead of my son and I was hungry for fish . Thursday afternoon so I went to the Hilltop. Dollar cans of beer and a cod basket I sent him pictures of my food . When he showed up on Friday we went fishing and he asked if we could go to the Hilltop for the fish basket I had the day . Not only did we eat fish but we had pretzels and crab rangoons . We decided to go out to eat with another couple. The line was outside--Labor Day weekend. When we walked in to put our name, it was a few minute wait until the hostess arrived. The restaurant was packed Every worker was running. The hostess placed all the patrons that were waiting and had another table for us. We sat and the waitress who was busy came to our table cheery and smiling. She took our order of drinks and we placed our food order at the same table me Everything came out in a very short time, Kristen, not sure if the spelling is correct, our waitress, was so pleasant and frequently checked on us. I was amazed how the team of waitresses worked together. The crew in the kitchen got our orders cooked the exact way we ordered. I thought being as busy as they were something would have been wrong. Took quite a while again to get the food . DW and friend had the Sloppy Joe special - one with fries, the other with tots. They both came out stone cold and the sloppy Joe was dry. My wrap with tots was ok but tots were barely warm. Maybe it was late getting to the table because it was sitting in the kitchen? Anyway, good decor and vibe. We went up north for an off-season visit and this place ended up being our top favorite. The staff is friendly, they have pretty good food, good beers, drinkable wines (not much in the way of options, but what they did have was okay,) and the TVs were playing the sports we asked to watch. When in Oscoda, you gotta go to this establishment! It's almost everything you would expect in an"UpNorth" bar/restaurant. What great service even after a 30 minute wait on a Friday at 5 dinner crowd. Well worth the wait. Great burgers and beers for an extremely comfortable price. The owner was on the floor making sure all was well with the customers making sure the food was to their liking. A few short blocks off us 23- well worth checking out ! Old style up north bar, with better than average food. Shared fish tacos and chicken quesadillas. 3 very tasty tacos filled with all the fixings. Huge plate of quesadillas- very good also. Added in 2 adult beverages- bill came to about $24. Maggie the server was very energetic and helpful. She was serving about 8 tables and constantly cleaning up in between. Fun place. read more
