    Outside of fun!

Been coming to East Tawas a few times a year for a few years now, and if you want a solid place for food and drink, this is a good choice. I've been here for just drinks, dinner and brunch now. They have a good variety of items to pick from. Breakfast has good omelettes, bowls, individual items to choose from. We had the farmers omlette, it was great. The sausage links are good too. I would recommend asking for the hash browns to be a little more well done, ours were undercooked slightly. For dinner the ahi tuna bites are really good. Also, the fried mushrooms are a must! The fried perch was cooked perfectly and decently priced. They have all u can eat fish on Fridays too! The ambience is nice for a bar during meal time. It can get crowded and loud at night when the bar crowd is here. Service is good, all the waitstaff is friendly and efficient.

I love Barnacle Bill's for what it is in this small town. They always deliver a solid service. This morning I tried the Tuscan breakfast for the first time. Scrambled eggs with tomatoes and onions topped with pesto sauce with six slices of tomato laid over the top and sourdough toast. Not only was it healthy, it tasted super!. There are three things that are favorites for me at Barnacle bills: blackened Aji tuna bites, Tuscan breakfast, and a Long Island iced tea made by Karen.

We stopped in for breakfast during a vacation trip. The service was so nice. Ladies were very accommodating. The location is convenient as it's on the main drag. It really felt like a local hang out, as there were many people that seemed friendly. Our breakfast was delicious. Great portions, and they had sugar free syrup which was excellent for me.

We came on a summer Monday evening. We sat outside with our dog. They have a water bowl available for dogs. The waiter was very accommodating moving things around and not stepping on or even never the dog which was very nice. There were daily special. I ordered the roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes which was tasty. My husband ordered the hard tacos. He needed to go inside the restaurant for all the extra fixings. We will return. Truly enjoyed the food the waiter and the service.

Best Bloody Mary in town. Good Patty melt. Great Cobb salad. Friendly servers. Place was packed on a weeknight.

The quaint…read moreambience, friendly service (we were one of the first guests to arrive on a Friday morning mid-May) and fresh brewed decaf were the highlights. The food, which is most important, was a big disappointment. I am a cinnamon roll connoisseur and was so excited to try the rolls that past Yelpers raved about. They were out of caramel today so we ordered the grilled roll with pecans and homemade buttercream frosting. It looked dry and tasted even drier. Barely warm, flourey and tasteless. The frosting was the best part. The menu of choices looks wonderful and diverse for a small cafe. I was delighted to see shrimp and grits. The skillet was very small, the food was hot (a plus) but it was heavy on the grits, which lacked flavor and space on shrimp (only 4), sausage and sauce. I ate the toppings with half the grits and left the rest. My husband ordered the hoagie sandwich with hash browns. His comment was "a lot of bread and minimal filling" with "luke warm" hash browns that were more spongy than crispy. It's hard to go wrong with breakfast, but somehow Lazy Toaster has missed the mark. The concept is fun, the menu is great, yet the recipes and preparation could use some major improvements. The tab ($41 for two) was not bad, but was high for the quality. We liked the decor yet felt the cleanliness was lacking (sticky floors and no paper towels in the bathroom). A breakfast place in East Tawas is a plus; I hope this cafe commits to some improvements and stays around.

Accompanying hash browns were equally well made and tasty where just the right amount of grease/butter was used to make my food (no greasy food here!). This all too often is an issue you see with these small breakfast centric restaurants up north that I was so pleased not to see here at the Lazy Toaster. Relative to the restaurant and staff, Lazy Toaster has a nice comfortable rustic "Up north" feel to it which I enjoyed where the staff was super friendly with great follow up throughout the meal and and where they are definately on top of their game when it comes to Coffee top-offs. Nice! Overall, this is definately one of the better breakfast spots in the greater Tawas/Oscoda/Harrisville area and is now on my short list of go to restaurants in the area.

The wood floors and booths have plenty of character, and the place is packed with locals who clearly know where to find a great meal. The waterfront views are beautiful, and if the weather cooperates, there's a patio where you can enjoy breakfast right by the bay. While the parking lot fills up fast, there's additional parking nearby if needed. The food is the real star. I had steak and eggs, and the steak was incredibly flavorful and tasted like quality local beef. The standout, though, was the country fried steak with sausage gravy. That gravy alone is worth the trip. The fresh-squeezed orange juice was fantastic, and even the rye toast comes from a local bakery. Service was friendly and efficient despite how busy they were. We were seated immediately, the turnover was quick, and the prices were surprisingly affordable. I've heard great things about their breakfast nachos and will definitely be trying them next time. This is the kind of place you'll want to return to every time you're in Tawas.

We were greeted with big smiles and received lots of attention from our server. The staff here are well trained. They hustle and still connect with customers. Most important in the morning.... Hot coffee, fresh brewed and it kept on coming. They know how to win hearts. The menu offered lots of choices. We were hungry and felt very satisfied with our dishes. The shrimp and grits were so cheesy and flavorful. Lots of toppings and really good sized shrimp. It was nice that it also came with toast or English muffin. My husband had the hearty breakfast with a little of everything. He said it was excellent. We had to try their warm grilled cinnamon bun. Yummy! Almost too much food to eat. It was so good we managed to devour it all. Reasonable prices made the experience a win-win. Looking forward to trying heir lunch menu.
