My 10-year-old daughter is usually very suspicious of fish. Like, if it even smells "too ocean-y," she's out. But somehow this place turned her into a seafood enthusiast for the afternoon because she absolutely demolished her cod fish and chips. Not a crumb left behind. We were all staring at her in disbelief I ordered the 16oz clam chowder, which was rich, creamy, and hit the spot perfectly because Seattle weather basically demands chowder. My husband got the salmon fish and chips and let me just say... the salmon absolutely showed up the cod. No offense to the cod, it tried its best lol. Also, can we talk about the fries for a second? I don't know what kind of magical potato situation they have going on back there, but my husband and I could not stop eating them. Crispy, salty, addictive little things. Overall, the food was amazing, we left full and happy, and my daughter discovering she actually likes fish might've been the biggest surprise of the trip. Would definitely come back!

I even realized I could order before hand so we were able to pick up our order as soon as we got there. This location is on the fourth floor of an otherwise pretty dead mall. It's located next to Din Tai Fung and has seating but there was barely anyone there. They did a great job bagging everything to go including a well wrapped sourdough bread bowl. The clam chowder is definitely some of the best. The bread bowl is okay. I didn't really care for the market chowder which was a smoked salmon chowder. The chowders come with a piece of bread and a bag of oyster crackers.

There is an online waitlist through the Toast app, which is a great way to save yourself some time. https://tables.toasttab.com/dough-zone-pine-street/joinWaitlist?deeplink=true Dough Zone has a new QR code order system, which is very convenient and works for everything except alcoholic beverages. You can open a tab and then order more items whenever you feel like it. That's great, since it can take a little while to get the attention of the waitstaff. You order using a QR code and then the food starts flowing. The only interactions you have with the staff is during seating and when you pay. They seem to have a pretty efficient system going at this location. I would say it took about 5 minutes from the time we put in our order for food to start coming out. Everything was hot and fresh. The checkout and pay process was done using the QR code and called the server to your table. The interactions I had with the staff were pleasant and they were quick.

However I decided to check it out since it's a lot closer to where I live and was craving some sushi. Their selection isn't as big as FOB's but it's still very generous. They have inari, rolls, and nigiri - they do limit the number of "expensive" nigiri you can get though which does kind of suck. I tried a few rolls and a few nigiri. They all tasted really fresh, and I like how they aren't as enormous and one-note tasting as FOB's. Everything tasted unique! This should do the job to satisfy the sushi cravings :)

This is a sushi by the pound place in SLU, but they also have a menu with variety of things such as udon, inari, chirashi, etc. The selection of fish you can choose from in the weigh your sushi section is not that big. They only have 2 high premium fishes available: otoro and amberjack. However you can only get 1 of each, which to me defeats the purpose. I also got a bulgogi inari and it was $5 / piece which is pricey. Another thing is that they use a lot of rice, too much rice. Service is ok, they ring you up and bring the food to you if you ordered through the menu. It's a very relaxing and chill area as well. The food we got was just ok but for the price, it's not worth it. I'm glad I tried but most likely will not be back.

The hojicha latte is strong, also as expected. Get it if you want that caffeine boost and are craving a deep, dark roast. And the miso soup was not what you normally get at other Japanese restaurants; it was exponentially better! I skipped ordering it at first, assuming it would be basic, but the owner gave us free miso, and it was the kindest gesture I could imagine on a cold Seattle afternoon because the miso may be the best not-so-secret dish on the menu. It was hearty and made with love and care, like real home cooking, but at the Melrose Market. So good that I just wrote a whole paragraph dedicated to it. Skip the other shops in the building and come sit at this intimate cafe. You'll be taken care of, inside and out. Sankaku deserves every single one of these five stars .
