Those adventurous dishes are what make this gem so amazing. Trust me when I say your taste buds will thank you for taking the path less traveled. If you check out the included photo you'll see a wide assortment of flavors on display, from spicy dumplings swimming in delicious hot oil to aromatic spicy crab, which was a surprise hit. Yes, there are spicy dishes a plenty at this place, but you'll also find plates suitable for milder tongues as well. The entire menu is packed with delicious food which will satisfy just about anyone in your group. Indoor dining isn't happening these days, but during my previous visits to Jin Jiang I always found the service to be friendly and attentive while the atmosphere was quite comfortable. Seriously, this is the kind of rare find (outside of your local Chinatown) that I want to support through these tough times because I love restaurants that work hard to expand the Chinese cuisine experience beyond the same boring stuff that has sadly become synonymous with takeaway. Give them a try if you're looking for something different. They just might become your new favorite Chinese.

A Cameroonian place in London... Home away from home, couldn't be happier!…read more The Maestro has everything I miss from home, and is the perfect place to go with my Cameroonian pals when we need our big dose of home food. Everything: from Ndole to plantain fries, Chicken DG to Pepper soup (not for me though, intolerant to chili), there's everything to make us happy. It's African food, so please be patient. It takes time and you'd better not be starving when you go there. African nights tend to be quite long and boozy! :) Service wise, here again it's the perfume of Cameroon. That warmth and family touch has no equal. I know I am being subjective and some expressions may be "unwelcoming" to non-Cameroonians, and I get that. But still, this is home. With its good and bad sides, and that's why we like it. The waiter who greets you with no smile, then brings you first drink with a quarter of a smile, then the second with half a smile, then your starter, and finally a full smile when you eat the main... When it's time to hit the desert, you're so full and happy that you talk to her like your sister. Sounds strange, doesn't it? But again, that's home! They regularly have live bands playing weekends. The Maestro becomes quite literally the first stop of the night: whiskey from 6 to 9, then dinner until 11, then whiskey again until 1-2 ish before hitting an African club in Peckham or Camberwell... The Maestro has it all and just gets it. If you want a Europeanised restaurant with African food, turn around and go somewhere else... But If you want to experience a bit of Cameroon with no filter whatsoever, exactly the way it happens in some streets of Douala or Yaounde, then you are at the right place!

My husband and I stopped here last night and got settled on the comfy couch with our chi. I ordered the green refresher to start (lime, honey and soda water) and he an Aperol Spritz. I got the Chardonnay then and was pleasantly surprised how dry and smooth it was. Our food arrived shortly: my butternut squash and feta flatbread and his sweet peppers and mozzarella on sourdough. I was surprised how my dish was presented as I expected one large piece of flatbread with feta and squash atop. Instead the squash and flatbread are cut into chunks presented on the wooden serving plate with the feta serving as a dipping sauce. It's an easily shareable portion size so I'm kinda of a piggy in eating nearly all of it. But the squash chunks were roasted perfectly. It was delicious as was the creamy feta. My husband said his dish was good as well but mine was definitely the star. The only downer was the brownie: it looks great and fudgy but is nothing special. The place has eclectic furnishings, with lots of cool events happening frequently. Definitely a worthwhile addition to SE!

A Welcome, Delicious Surprise…read more After a long and arduous journey by train from Brussels to Central London and from there to Greenwich, my wife and I were irritated, exhausted, and starved. We quickly browsed the area's listing for local places to eat and stumbled upon The Prince of Greenwich. At first glance, Prince is an unsuspecting bar with loads of antiques. It appears to be the sort of place you could get a drink and some chips. Surprisingly, Prince is actually an English pub that specializes in Italian food of all things. This concept intrigued us, so we knew we had to check it out. The charming climate of the restaurant is relaxed and homey. It's not just the antiques that make you feel at home. The waitress was helpful and gave stellar reviews of the food. After placing our orders, we enjoyed gossiping about the plethora of antiques littered around us. We ended up really enjoying the food. The cheesy bread with mayo was so strange, but in the best way possible! A simple dish, we were surprised with just how well the mayo fit with the cheesy bread. This was not your typical mayonnaise. Both pasta dishes were delicious. We had just been to Italy 2 weeks before, and this took us right back to the start of our honeymoon. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant to anyone out in Greenwich looking to cool down, relax, and unwind. You'll enjoy delicious food and odd trinkets decorating the walls. Just don't skimp on the mayo cheesy bread!

I passed by Chinese, Vietnamese, Malaysian, African, Afro-Caribbean restaurants before landing at The Orient restaurant. It's on the high street, and I was drawn in by the roasted ducks dangling in the window. I asked the waitress what the Chinese customers were enjoying, which turned out to be steaming bowls of noodle soup with various options. I went for the roasted duck with bok choy. It was delicious! Just as good as my favorite duck-noodle soup in New York's Chinatown. I washed it down with a large pint of Chinese larger on tap. The total bill was 9 pounds, and I was very happy :) This place encourages me to consider Depford as a home base, especially if I can get a noodle soup fix on the high street.

One of our group has a tomato allergy and we weren't sure how much of a selection he would have. The waitress went back and redlined the menu to show what he could have, what he couldn't, and what they might be able to alter. Super nice and it didn't take more than a few minutes. As for the food, a-maz-ing Indian. I recommend their prawn special - not too spicy but very flavor forward. The naan was a nice side to order as well. This location is fairly big with seating on the main floor, downstairs, and outside in a cover lounge area. We had a reservation, although they probably could have handled us if we didn't. That said, it was a busy weekend and the place looked fairly full by the time we left, so maybe grab a reservation. Enjoy!

My dining companion ordered a margarita that came straight up with a smoky paprika, sort of rim. I ordered the Mojito. They make their own Mojito mix and it was exceptional. Just a little hint of mint, but the excellent drink. Our bartender did not steer us wrong. We sat outside and ordered the okra appetizer, tikka masala, lamb chops and naan. Our wait staff said we were ordering a very small amount of food. I thought it should be enough, as we had a large lunch. She was kind of insistent, but maybe she was just trying to be helpful. The fried okra was amazing. It was like french fries but with okra. There's just a hint of spice very very crunchy and delicious. The rest of our meal came. I really should have asked about the spice level, but I did not. The menu didn't say my dish was spicy, but it was far too spicy for me. Since our wait staff did not come back to check on us there was not much I could do. However, I did flagged down another waiter and asked for some raita. This helped but I don't like the burn so I was pretty much done eating at that point. My sister's lamb chops were very tasty but overcooked for my preference. But we weren't asked how she wanted her lamb chops so there you go. I bet this is a phenomenal restaurant if you like a high level of heat. And maybe on a night when they weren't so busy and the wait staff stretched so thin. I will say I thought the cocktails were exceptional. And our bartender was great. I would really give it a 2.5 but there are no half star so I'm rounding up
