Pros: friendly staff. I love that you get a good cardio workout combined with spin, strength, and yoga. If you are looking to build some muscle though, the strength portion might only do a little for you since it's so short & you are moving way too fast in between sets because it cardio focused. The class variety was always fun and exciting, but I needed more. I always left wanting more- The format is perfect for somebody just starting.
Cons:
- way too expensive for what you get. You could be at a luxury gym in the city or hire a personal trainer at two hundred a month. Using ClassPass is a better bet for your buck, so that you can drop in once or twice a month.
- they make you come 30 minutes earlier for your first class when it takes no more than 10-15 minutes max for them to show you around & then you have to sit there waiting for class to start.
- if you don't walk there you will have to pay for street parking
- their class times could be better and also consistent. On Fridays, the latest class is at 4 pm, so if you work and can't make it to their 6 am class or 4 pm, well, there goes your Friday workout. Weekends only have two class times that start at 9:30 am and 10:45 am, and no earlier or late afternoon classes.
- the instructors are OK and very enthusiastic, but none of them look "in shape," so it's discouraging knowing they have been doing this for a while, but they don't look like they have. It's also always hard to hear them, especially during your yoga sessions, even when they turn the music down.
- you need to cancel your membership with a 60-day notice & same day cancellations are $15 ( READ ALL OF YOUR MEMBERSHIP CONTRACT)
their classes are NEVER full or near total capacity, but they like to charge you a cancelation fee for taking an invisible person's spot.
- They don't reset or check their bikes after each class, so if you notice something is wrong during spin, you need to stop your workout and either change bikes mid-workout or reset the bike yourself or keep going with the messed up bike so you don't waste time. for the money you pay this is not cool.
- When doing yoga, they like to clean the strength area behind the yoga section, and you can smell the chemicals and hear noises while trying to be "zen," which I also find annoying. I get they are being efficient, but I don't like to smell cleaning chemicals while doing yoga and breathing deeply.
-Yoga poses are not held as long as traditional yoga, and there is no focus on breathing or proper alignment. It's just a great stretching session after the exercise portion, but it isn't truly "yoga," in my opinion.
- Instructors never give feedback on the form when lifting weights or doing TRX exercises and hardly ever show modifications. I wish they showed what lifting exercises you will be doing before class so that you can see at home how to replace them if you need modifications since they don't have time during class.
The list of cons goes on, but I will leave it at that. read more
