@bodymasscompositiontesting -- A DEXA provides a detailed breakdown of fat, lean, and bone mineral content in your body, and the DEXA is able to divide the body down into 5 different regions (arms, legs, trunk). The segmented breakdown highlights muscular imbalances and validates composition driven programs that focus on fat-loss or muscle gain. The results of a DEXA scan can provide useful insight to how your workout & nutrition plans have impacted your composition. The data can be used to validate programs, provide info to drive changes, and track overall progress. Using the DEXA and tracking your workouts & nutrition provides feedback to create a program that is proven to work for you. The scan takes roughly 10 minutes to complete, is non-invasive, you get your results right away, and provides the most accurate measure of any testing tool compared to the air pod, water weighing, skin pinching, and skin temperature measurements. -- Checkout my Instagram for more reviews @bigbodbthads

The bathrooms and locker rooms are well-designed and clean, and the co-ed sauna and steam room are a major plus. The filtered water stations are always cold and well-maintained, and the smoothie bar is convenient. The reception staff are always friendly! SweatBox is intense, well-structured, and thoughtfully run. The music and variety keep me coming back. Providing ear plugs and cold eucalyptus towels are the many small touches that go a long way during this high-energy HIIT workout. Coach Gwen and Coach Mike are excellent instructors -- clear, motivating, and attentive to form. There are 3 other class studios and dozens of more fitness classes. I have enjoyed the yoga classes, especially Restorative and Deep Stretch. Chris also runs a great BodyPump class -- strong pacing and consistent energy. Overall, VIDA Ballston combines diverse programming with quality facilities and good service. Yes things break or require maintenance, but the team is constantly communicating this and working to upkeep their facility. Highly recommend!

They have a wide variety of gym equipment and weight, squat racks, etc. they also offer personal training, which I have met a few of the trainers who are super nice and welcoming. It's great to workout at a gym where you are welcomed and get to know the front desk and staff. Overall, would highly recommend.

I didn't want to join yet another gym when my needs are simple. I like the pay-as-you go feature of the service as it motivates me to keep going. I've been going for about five months and can tell a difference in my strength and confidence level in movement. My trainer is Rob Graveline, and he has been terrific. He's very knowledgeable and focused on what I need.

Pretty stoked about this place…read more I've seen a number of gyms and trainers off/on over the years, but this team has it *dialed in*, in all directions. Method Fitness business communication is absolutely professional -- from person-to-person communication, to email, to text alerts/reminders, even being greeted at door, it's all easy, correct, and smooth. My intake interview alone basically "sold" me -- Mateo and talked a lot, I unloaded a ton of stuff about details and goals and issues, and he heard every damn word and absolutely nothing was missed. Zero. He then rolled it into a perfect trainer selection for me. No surprises. I get text reminders about the sessions, and all the staff work together as a team, as a single team, from the moment you walk in the door. The facilities are perfect for meeting fitness goals. It's not a zoo of machines and noise and clutter and random people. There's plenty of space and all the right tools are there. There may be few other people there during my time slot, I feel like my trainer and I 'own' the the whole gym. No waiting for anything. No distractions, no wasted time. Where Method *really* shines is the quality of their programming. I came in with all sorts of history, glitches, ideas, and goals, but they surprised me with more. My beastly and superb trainer, Jack Walter, pays laser attention and is addressing stuff in *hours* that I had not fully seen, and uncovers things I never even noticed! And then he immediately finds a way to address it. The excitement of "actually getting somewhere" is real. These Method guys are *not* picking some rando workout plan out of a hat: it's absolutely tailored. I can't tell you how encouraging this is and how much hope it builds. For older folks, they put a special eye on mobility, injuries, and chronic issues and then target them for fixes. Speaking of workout plan -- I didn't know Method, and they didn't know me, and they had the steady professional foresight to schedule in a few "figure things out" sessions to see where I was, and how I responded to training before -- I repeat, before -- starting a regular routine. This way, they know the regular plan will address my particular needs, and that I'll respond to it successfully. Like I said: Absolutely Professional. Short Story, this is all after just a few weeks. I walked into this place thinking "OK, I'll try a handful of sessions" ....and now? My weights are going up every time. My flexibility and stability are improving. And I feel like I am going to be like the other people we see in the comments who go long and deep with this team. Really hope to see you in the gym! Get in for the free consult! All the best to your success!

I had the opportunity to go to this location a couple of times and thought wow it is a super nice…read moregym. Until I asked my friend how much they charge here and I was shocked. This gym charges way above market rate for a luxury gym. Don't get me wrong - the gym has super nice equipment, great staff, a cold plunge (very small though), and a hot tub. My issue with this location is for the price that you pay, I would expect the following three things: 1. A nice pool - for the price, I would expect at least an indoor lap pool and even an outdoor rooftop pool. For a lifetime that is supposed to be the highest tier, it should have all of the bells and whistles. 2. Less people at the gym: It is crazy how packed this gym gets. I understand that the location is central in Clarendon but you shouldn't have to wait for equipment when you're paying hundreds of dollars a month. 3. Multiple sport courts: For the price you pay, you should be getting full scale courts such as pickleball, basketball, tennis, etc. This gym should be a luxury club with full scale amenities. Keep in mind that this is coming from someone who used to be a Lifetime member, and I have been to 5+ Lifetime locations including ones in the same tier as Clarendon. I remember I paid way less and had the luxury of a pool/never having to wait for equipment.

The only con about this place is the price, which is considerably above market, even for a luxury…read moregym. The mens locker room is large, luxurious, and stocked with essentials like towels, razors, mouthwash, and other toiletries. The cold spa is a little small, with an occupancy of 4, but the hot tub spa can probably fit 5-10 people. The staff are all great and helpful. The gym is cleaned very well and often. In terms of the equipment there is pretty much everything you could want. There is a tank sled, about 12-15 platforms (many are taken for classes however), bumper plates, SSB, trap bar, football bar, an assortment of machines with the main provider technogym. Cardio equipment looks mostly standard to me, treadmills, stair stepper, assault bikes, stationary bikes, ellipticals. In the specialty equipment realm this gym has a belt squat machine, which is definitely cool to see. There are not really any cons to this gym, even the parking really isnt that bad. the garages are typically not even 50% full when ive gone. Clarendon lifetime is a luxury gym that comes at a luxury+ price. i dont think you can join this gym for less than 250/month which is definitely top of market.

Runners -- THIS is your place!…read more I joined MAD this summer for a month trial membership and was impressed with the support, technical and individualized coaching, variety of movements, and early results. I was starting marathon training and was initially hesitant about investing in a strength gym with scheduled classes. How could these types of workouts fit into a distance running training plan? MADabolic Arlington showed me. I cannot speak more highly of Julianne and the coaches at MADabolic Arlington. Julianne provided a clear, 20-week training plan that included MAD workouts, speed/hill workouts, long runs, and rest days. Their team helped me build full-body strength, prevent injuries, build mental discipline and resiliency (5:00 static effort, anyone?!), increase aerobic fitness, improve flexibility and range of motion, relieve stress, find value in rest/active recovery days, improve body composition (including bone density), and feel strong. I saw the results. The past few months helped me to run more than 40 minutes faster than last year's marathon time, with my fastest splits of the race in my last 5K. Without injuries. MAD class 3 days per week and running 2-3 days per week. I was a collegiate heptathlete 20 years ago and I am continually amazed what my body and mind are now capable of. I'm back! -- and post-race, I'm making more gains. Whether you are a seasoned runner or athlete, or pursuing formal strength training for the first time, MADabolic Arlington is the right place to invest in yourself and your fitness goals.

This review is long overdue, because I've been working out with Bobby since late July, and by…read moremid-September, I've gained 2.2 pounds of muscle, decreased my body fat by 1.3%, and increased my basal metabolic rate. These may not sound a lot, but I was already lean (female, 20.9% body fat) and I'm very petite, so even 0.5 pound of muscle gain isn't easy for me, let alone in such a short time. In fact, Bobby may be the first trainer who doesn't want me to get leaner but to gain some weight to be healthier... and because of that, I trust that he has my best interest in heart. These stats show the results - which is why we seek dedicated personal trainers in the first place, but what also matters to me is that Bobby truly cares about my health, my athletic performance, more than looking good. I also really enjoy working out with Bobby in Cygma because I feel like an elite athlete here. First of all, Bobby has tons of fun and effective workouts. He uses a combination of weights, circuits, cardio, and equipment. Training with Bobby is never boring or static. Second, Cygma also has great equipment and a very athletic vibe. It's definitely not a regular gym. I've had trainer in the past and I still see dozens of trainers in my apartment's gym. Bobby is at an entirely different level with his strategies, movement, and tools. I joke that the other trainers and gyms are very "vanilla" whereas Bobby/Cygma is like "triple-espresso double-chocolate with whatever toppings that suit your body." Though Bobby challenges me quite a bit, he also takes into consideration my injuries, body conditions, past hormonal issues, and adjusts the training, which I always appreciate. I'm also amazed at the depth and breadth of nutrition knowledge that Bobby possesses. Being an avid reader of all sorts of nutrition tips and news, I thought I'd known enough and didn't initially sign up for Bobby's nutrition training; however, during one month in which I injured my shoulder and had some hormonal issues coming back, Bobby sat me down and calculated the macros that I should be eating - he also imparted important stress management skills, which turned out to be key to improving my overall health and fitness. Best of all, Bobby gave me all the knowledge without extra charge and he asked me not to obsess. Now, I really enjoy chatting with Bobby about nutrition, destressing, sleep, fitness, etc., while training. One of Bobby's biggest strengths (there are many) is that he's very articulate, and since he knows a lot and is very logical, he's good at looking at things from multiple perspectives and breaking down data and information in easy-to-digest bits and pieces, which I always appreciate. Bobby's passion for nutrition, fitness, and service is also very contagious. Finally, I really appreciate that Bobby respects where I am - I only train with Bobby once per week due to my current budget and super busy work and lifestyle, but Bobby said he'd make sure that I get the value out of this one hour each week, which is true. Though eventually I hope to train a bit more with Bobby, currently, I feel more motivated and effective even in my own sessions without Bobby. He taught me so much since the beginning. I cannot recommend Bobby enough. If you are serious about your health and your physique, and you want to have fun while seeing results, and you want to feel like an elite athlete with reasonable payment, definitely try Bobby and Cygma!

The barbell area set aside for deadlifts and squats was like added as an afterthought - it's in a small, cramped, crowded corner at the back of the free weights area. It's like a tight little nook with all artificial light, and it's very awkward and demotivating waiting your turn in such a tiny space crowded to the max with sweaty bodies and weights. Meanwhile, the outer portion of the gym where the treadmills and cardio machines are is huge by comparison, but at any given time only a few people are using the treadmills with many unused. They could have put more of the barbells and squat equipment there to alleviate the crowing and calustrophobia in the free weights area. There's no breathing room in such a crowded environment! BTW, to be fair, the location in Old Town Alexandria is MUCH bigger and uses their floorspace much better. Even though it's a little farther away from my house, I go their whenever I can. The layout is awesome, you can breathe, and concentrate much better on your workout, instead of fighting crowded bodies and metal equipment everywhere you turn in a tiny little corner of the weight room. As a member of OneLife's all-access plan I'm grateful I can go there too. It's a 5 star location. Overall, not complaining about OneLife as a whole, just the layout of the Crystal Park location which seriously needs to be redesigned.
