Durability Day - Focus is on slow and steady weight management
Morgan B.

Signing up for MADabolic has been not only extremely rewarding for my physique, but has also helped me navigate COVID and alleviate most of my mental strain as well. I'll start by saying that the trainers care about your form, more than how much weight you can lift, or how many repetitions you can complete during each session. It's not a CrossFit competition and as a result, this structure allows you to focus on your personal gains and tangible improvements over time. My fiance was a member long before I decided to join; however, in August 2020, I finally decided to commit to an unlimited membership and have been regularly attending 4-5x/week (rest is crucial for muscle recovery). The class schedules vary in times, so you can usually find a class that works with your life and once you get into a routine (not everyone wants to get up at 5:50 AM most days), you can find that getting into a class is pretty easy! If you read other reviews, then you will see that COVID-safety is one of the core priorities of the staff and those that attend classes. This includes constant sanitation of stations/equipment and mandatory mask regulations in order to protect all parties involved. Every person is provided with their own sanitation spray bottle (you have to bring your own towel), but they also sell for $1 in case you forget it at home! They also sell masks that allow you to not "drown" in sweat while working out. Overall, the training program is very effective, and don't think that I've had the same exercises in the 6 months I've been a member. The coaches care about your movements and are extremely focused on mitigating injuries and the cleanliness of the facility is top-notch. I think one of the hardest parts about relocating / moving will be missing out on these kick-ass workouts and the awesome staff that help drive me to push myself to be better with every workout.

Relatable coaching, scalable workouts respective to each person's fitness level, and an overwhelmingly supportive community. MAD has become my favorite way to move my body 5 times a week (or more)!

MADABOLIC IS WHAT YOU NEED!!!! I I would like to think of myself as a fitness enthusiast. However madabolics has pushed me in so many ways that I don't know if prior to coming here we could call that working out. The class coaches are extremely knowledgeable and I can't wait to see all of my results. If you know what's good for you sign up with MADabolic Arlington.

Here's the deal and this is for anybody who has read or follow my reviews and I don't know if it's…read morethe New Yorker in me but I called down the middle the way I see it and this is the way I see One Life fitness Skyline: Any gym and I don't care who you go to and where you go to or even if The Rock himself is training you, it comes down to if you will walk through that door everyday and what you do inside of it. Most people complain about Jim's because of two things: they want all the amenities like you're going to the Bellagio in Las Vegas and they wait on you hand and foot or you have a lot of sensitive people who just because they don't get what they want when they want an exactly how they want it, they complain. All the staff that work there are really cool, they open up really good hours which is 5:00 a.m. and if you can't get your butt into the gym at 5:00 a.m. whose fault is that? I wish they would close a little bit later maybe 11:00 or midnight but that's neither here nor there. It's a huge facility and they have great amenities. Basic but good enough. So in summation I've been in this gym for over a year and I like it a lot and I have no problems with it. So what the heck are you waiting for after reading this? GET UP AND GET IT DONE!

This was literally only…read moremy second time in the building, and they don't provide proper tours or clearly explain the layout. While trying to find the exit, I made an honest mistake and walked across a small green section. Instead of handling it calmly or professionally, multiple staff members were rude and condescending, and one staff member even made a threat about following me out. That felt intimidating, inappropriate, and made the environment feel unsafe and very uncomfortable. The overall staff interaction and vibes came across as unprofessional and very ghetto. I was looking at their personal training here, but after how I was treated, I would never choose to give this place my business. I'll just stick with my current trainer. On top of that, many of the machines appear very old, run-down, and unstable. A lot of the equipment looks outdated, which raises concerns about maintenance and overall care of the facility. Overall, this was a really disappointing and off-putting experience, especially for a first-time member.

The bathrooms and locker rooms are well-designed and clean, and the co-ed sauna and steam room are a major plus. The filtered water stations are always cold and well-maintained, and the smoothie bar is convenient. The reception staff are always friendly! SweatBox is intense, well-structured, and thoughtfully run. The music and variety keep me coming back. Providing ear plugs and cold eucalyptus towels are the many small touches that go a long way during this high-energy HIIT workout. Coach Gwen and Coach Mike are excellent instructors -- clear, motivating, and attentive to form. There are 3 other class studios and dozens of more fitness classes. I have enjoyed the yoga classes, especially Restorative and Deep Stretch. Chris also runs a great BodyPump class -- strong pacing and consistent energy. Overall, VIDA Ballston combines diverse programming with quality facilities and good service. Yes things break or require maintenance, but the team is constantly communicating this and working to upkeep their facility. Highly recommend!

They have a wide variety of gym equipment and weight, squat racks, etc. they also offer personal training, which I have met a few of the trainers who are super nice and welcoming. It's great to workout at a gym where you are welcomed and get to know the front desk and staff. Overall, would highly recommend.

I signed up with the premier membership, all sorts of extra amenities and the cost of the membership isn't bad at all! The staff are great, very friendly and informative of anything you could ask about fitness wise. The gym itself is a nice size and the way everything is sectioned is organized very well. Lots of free weights, benches, squat racks, machines, anything you could think of, it's there. A plethora of equipment and anything to get your body active and moving. The cardio area is awesome because of all the windows so you don't feel like you're just in a dark walled in space getting active. It's a nice touch for sure. I know they are currently renovating the space below the gym to accommodate for more equipment which I'm excited for. The gym is clean, the locker room is clean, always seeing the cleaning staff hard at work which keeps my mind at ease. The other nice thing is the parking garage is located right there too, so it's an easy walk to get into the gym and the cost is cheap for the hours I put in there. Couldn't be happier with my experience so far. Thanks for your business!

If it was not for the personal trainer my wife uses, there is a strong possibility we would change to another gym. There are a decent number of machines, free weight stations, etc., but since the location opened (I think 2 years now?) I have not seen one new piece of equipment. Suggestions to management appear to go unnoticed. As for the free weights, they are often scattered amongst all of the machines or stations, and no one seems to ever clean them up. As for managers, I have not seen a single one last more than a month. That is if you can even find one. Currently I have been trying to convert my membership to Silver Sneakers. The front desk personnel say I need to speak with a manager. They also say that they have not seen the current manager for days. Maybe that is why there has been no toilet paper in the restrooms, the hand sanitizers by the front doors have been empty, and I can't make the transition. I did go to the main webpage for DC Gold's Gyms to use the Member Services link (as instructed by someone I spoke with and by the AI operator). What I loved was clicking on it and only getting a Cancel Membership screen. Not a great way to keep your members when the services is to ask for them to cancel. In addition, there is no other way to contact the main owners of these metro gyms on the web page. Are they tired of hearing from their members? Again, other than the lack of management, investment in keeping this gym interesting with new or changed equipment, the people that do work here are great, especially folks like Jay at the front desk and John the personal trainer (the best!). Hopefully this will get the attention of the owners.

Since then, I have been working out at the Bailey's Crossroads gym, four or five times a week, and I wanted to put in a few good words for the staff. Just this week, I attended one of Meagan's Silver Sneakers aerobics classes (which I used to take from her at Merifield). Meagan is a NATIONAL TREASURE when it comes to aerobics for seniors, and scores of regulars have migrated over from Merrifield and other parts of the DMV to continue taking her classes. In fact, we had so many people show up that Orlando and Bryce had to bring in extra chairs, and I think we ran out of six and three pound weights. Please consult Orlando for any materials needed for Meagan's classes because the satisfied customer base is definitely already there. Speaking of Orlando I wanted to express what a great job he is doing as GM. I have a birth injury to my left arm/shoulder which limits my mobility and strength significantly. While I was working out, Orlando noticed my disability, and asked me about it. Per his offer, I accepted a free personal training workout from Brett, who came recommended as a trauma recovery expert, and chose to continue having twice weekly workouts/therapy under Brett's supervision. My strength and added mobility is improving. In short, Gold's Gym/Bailey's is a terrific place to work out and I am proud to be a member.

I have a little love affair with this YMCA because even though the Reston one is bigger and fancier, it's also about 74 times busier than this one, and that makes this one much more relaxing to use. This YMCA is on a little back street and has its own parking which is rarely full, and is right in the heart of the Washington DC Metro Area - close to several Metro stops, actually, and within walking distance - rather than the Reston one which is way way out near Dulles Airport. I also love this location because it usually is really quiet so even though it's not my favourite and it is partially underground and a little stuffy, it is also very friendly and family oriented and everybody knows everybody, and it's one of the nicest little community gyms I've used. They just about have all of things I need although some of them are falling apart. What they don't have in equipment they make up for in character. There are some great people here both in terms of the employees and be patrons. They have the bikes I like, as well. Only 3 of them, and it's stuffy using them, but it's enough. Oh, and the fact that I was never grilled about whether I was a member, and they never called my home location, is a "big plus", like the flag of Switzerland.
