The results really do speak for themselves. It's not cheap to have a recurring membership and we only did a a weeklong trial (which is very affordable) there before we moved, but the experience we had couldn't have been better. The coaches are so positive and motivating, as well as thorough in their pre workout demonstrations and make those small corrections in our movements that make all the difference in our results and the burnnn! The HIIT circuits are setup so nicely, flowing through about 10 different stations and leaving the whole body worked by the end of the class. These classes are pretty solid for building muscle but you're not going to get huge or insanely strong with this style of workout. This will be more for toning muscle/athletic build as well as gaining functionality and work capacity. It's nice that it's all based on time rather than numbers so everybody can go at their own pace. However, if you really want to push yourself as hard as possible, then I'd say this targets the heart and lungs more than anything, and health is what it's really all about. This is even true in the resistance classes, which you always leave with a serious pump. The weights you're using aren't as heavy as CrossFit which mostly allows for you to push yourself in a safer and higher paced manner and there's more variance in exercises and movements than Orange Theory without the concern of running injuries so while all of the big name HIIT enterprises have some advantages, I believe F45 is the best because it has the most well-rounded diverse stimulus mentally and physically and therefore has the most potentially for truly being "in-shape", healthy, functional, and athletic because you're more motivated to consistently train hard and allowed to do so while staying injury free. If I have to knock it I'd say that some of the exercises are more body building oriented (fly's and curls) than I'd like, but most are also performance based. I will also admit, if this were my only training then I'd definitely like to have heavier weights on resistance days because those end up mostly being muscle endurance for me (which ultimately is more important than raw strength if I'm forced to choose). I'd also appreciate a little more sprinting but I know that greatly increases the injury risk so I understand the omission there. Also if there was more space, I would love to incorporate something more explosive like med ball throws and rope climbs. All in all though, considering the energy in there, the results you'll get from start to finish only sacrificing 45 minutes to make the rest of your day better, and possibly even have another little social outlet, this place is great! read more

I can't find a place to leave a review for the new Shirlington location but I am loving F45- Misha and Benny at 530AM make the class fun and entertaining, which can be a challenge that early in the morning! Love those 2! The studio is small, but enough space to do most of the moves- only bad thing I can say is I wish they had classes after 6pm! Plus there is free parking in the garage across the street as well! You will be dripping w sweat most days with the various moves, lots of weighted movements too! read more

It is a nice concept, but it is not for beginners at all. Not for the raw beginners. We have the racing music, fast-moving instructions on the screen, catching up with the people around you as you have to so that you can move to your next set of exercises and next station, and focusing on the instructions by the trainer. I found myself pretty confused most of the time, not focusing on the technique and catching up with all others. I did receive the much-needed focus from my coach Katie, she was really warm and helpful. Would certainly join in the future if we have a beginner's class. read more

You will not find a better gym anywhere close to here. First of all, the HIIT sessions kick your a** like you wouldn't believe. What's especially nice about these workouts is that they accommodate all fitness levels. Each station has a variety of weight selections, and the reps you complete is all up to you. What impresses me almost every day at F45 is the energy in the gym. The trainers love and know what they're doing (Go Rob and Jen!!!!). Everyone who attends feels that energy and it shows during the class workouts. Also, the music they play during the workouts is fire. One of my favorite things about F45 is that the classes and structures of the workouts are always changing. This helps it not get boring as you continue going for weeks. I previously was a member at a boxing workout gym, and I just started getting bored because it was so repetitive. At F45 on Saturdays/Sundays they have a DJ that plays during the workouts! I never know what to expect which keeps me coming back. The organization of this gym in general is great, Zac does a great job, all the trainers are amazing, and the staff who take care of check-in and payments are super helpful. This place is awesome! I've been training at F45 since they opened a few months ago. I've always enjoyed a good workout (been a member of Gold's for years) but I was looking to take my fitness to the next level after having my second baby. F45 is exactly what I was looking for. I've never done the same workout twice, and I'm both amazed by what my body can do and humbled by how much work there is to be done! Great sweat but dangerously overcrowded. They allow far too many participants in a single class- there should be roughly 15 people fewer in each class. I was constantly running into people and in someone's way. Also, we were never instructed to wipe down any of the stations between circuits- left me feeling very grimy/dirty and headed immediately home to hit the shower following class. This gym is comparable in price to Orange Theory Fitness (chain) and e60 (in Arlington) - so I will be comparing the quality of this gym to those two. It is also similar in workout style as it is a HIIT/circuit workout. If you are looking for a strength/cardio full-body workout I would definitely choose OTF or e60 over this gym. I have tried a lot of different gyms in the Arlington area and this is my least favorite. It is a rather small gym that they jam a lot of people in. There are small little stations that you rotate through and in many stations you feel like you are on top of other people working out. They don't provide a heart rate monitor so you aren't able to track your progress throughout the class. I have an Apple watch and I noticed that I burned about half of the calories in my workout at this gym than I have at OTF and e60 classes. They also don't have wipes for people to wipe down the equipment but some people bring their own towels. As a result it gets pretty sweaty and smelly in there. I went to four different classes and had the same experience at each class. I did a Groupon to try this gym (unlimited one month Groupon for $25) and was charged for an unlimited membership ($169) when my Groupon ended. Since I was not aware that I would be charged for an unlimited f45 membership when my Groupon ended, and did not want to continue working out there, I emailed and called the day I was charged the $169 to ask them to refund me. They refused to give me a refund, even after I made several requests for them to give me the money back. I would give the gym a 2/5 compared to its similar competitors (OTF & e60) but since I had such a negative experience with the customer service aspect as well I'm giving it a 1/5. I hope this review dissuades anyone from trying F45. Generally I encourage people to try things for themselves but since F45 also took my money and refused to refund me I would dissuade you from even considering a "trial" at this gym... you might end up paying $169 for it, even if you do not wish to continue. Hope this helps anyone looking for a good gym in Arlington! Would definitely recommend Orange Theory or e60 over this gym since they are way better workouts for a similar price. Also, the Gold's Gyms around here offer decent workout classes if you are looking for a less expensive option. read more

If you are looking to change up your workout routine and are specifically looking for intense workouts, high energy, great music, knowledgeable trainers, and a strong community of people wanting to better themselves you MUST try F45! The studio is conveniently located in the middle of Ballston, but don't worry, there is street parking all over the place. The studio is full of brand new equipment and tons of it. You won't be confined to a rower and treadmill, in fact, there are NO treadmills at this studio (which I personally love). You will get the opportunity to use equipment you may not have encountered before at your typical boutique fitness gyms. They also have all different weight so if you are a beginner like me, don't worry there are weights for you, if you are super advanced and can lift heavy, there are weights for you too! The studio is designed and extremely welcoming to all levels and no matter where you are in your fitness journey, the classes will challenge you! Classes are 45 minutes and the studio offers 60 minute classes on Saturdays. They offer many class times starting at 5:00 am to 7:30 pm. You can very easily sign up on their app. One thing I've really liked about F45 so far is that waitlists are at a minimum. Unlike other gyms where you sit on a waitlist for a week and have to fight to get into prime time classes, you will not find that at F45. Booking classes has been a breeze. There is a 3 hour cancellation policy with a late cancel fee of $10.00 so you do have to be conscious of that. And unlike other gyms F45 does not force you into a contract which is another plus! Moving on to the classes - they are AMAZING. The workouts alter between cardio and strength. I don't think I've ever left class not being completely soaked. The classes are challenging but doable so do not be discouraged. The trainers offer many modifications and will be right by your side pushing you through. If you take class consistently you will definitely start seeing results. If you are looking for something new to try and are bored of your current workout routine, I HIGHLY encourage you to give F45 a try! read more

I did CrossFit two years prior to and had an awful experience when I moved to the area. F45 is what Ballston needed. A great fitness community that pushes you to be a better person. All the coaches are supportive, understanding of your fitness needs to include scaling options if you are struggling with a certain moment and listen to the members if they have a previous injury. Since I joined in January, I can see the difference in my form, strength, and energy. The owner Zac is a great guy who genuinely cares for his members like family. I highly recommend F45 to anybody who wants a challenge and wants to try something new! So happy I found F45! read more

So I definitely understand some of the negative reviews. Some of the classes are very crowded, which can make it difficult to grab the weights you want (I haven't had an issue with bumping into people), and I am very concerned about getting sick during cold and flu season because there really isn't time to wipe down anything and they don't have hand sanitizer, but they encourage a lot of high fives. But if you get past those issues, it's a really fun workout! I like that I can show up right on time as opposed to OT where I have to get there early to grab my treadmill spot. The workouts alternate between cardio days and strength days. Since I already go to OT, the cardio is bonus and fun since no running, but the strength days are definitely a nice change of pace to be able to lift heavier and do some different exercises like pull-ups. The coaches are all great, but Rob and Katie are my favorites. There's some time between classes if you need to stretch or ask the coaches any questions. I wish they had an 8am class on weekdays, and maybe a Sunday evening class. The cancellation policy is three hours, which is super generous compared to other studios, and the waitlist typically moves. I think if you are new to group exercise, this class could be daunting, especially if you go during a peak time, but if you can ease into it by going to some less busy classes so that you get accustomed to some of the moves and transitions, this is a really fun way to get your cardio or strength training done in an efficient 45 minutes. The workout is kind of like going to crossfit and doing the metcon. read more

F45 has been great for me to help push through a plateau in my training! I love that the trainers really push you and know your name. They really try to cultivate a team environment and that is motivating for me. The workouts are tough but doable and include exercises I wouldn't otherwise do like plyometrics and body weight exercises. Great fun! read more

Aside from the amazing workouts the service at F45 Arlington is amazing. No tricky contracts, you just pay for the membership you want and that's that. F45 is a judgement free zone where everyone feels at home. There are plenty of times to chose from daily, starting at 5 am and going till 7:30 PM. The workouts them self are absolutely amazing. You get such a variety of intervals, weights and cardio and begins to be so addictive overtime! The workouts are nice and quick, just 45 min but extremely effective. I have tried every group fitness studio in the area and have thoroughly enjoyed them all but what's special about this F45 specifically is the community! F45 Training Arlington is great addition to the Ballston neighborhood. The workouts are tough and rewarding. You are able to modify the movements as necessary, but it is important that you let the trainer know ahead of time if you have any injuries or need to modify anything. Even though it seems like it can get a bit crowded, classes run well and are very organized. The trainers demo and go over all of the movements before class so it is important that you arrive early. Since I have been a member, the overall vibe of studio/community at F45 is very supportive and encouraging. I highly recommend this for anyone looking to try something new and looking to challenge themselves. What you put in is what you get out of it. Coming from two years as an OTF member, I was looking for a change to mix up my workouts. F45 opened in Ballston and have been a member for about 3 months. Classes are a good mixture of cardio and strength, and help challenge me to do exercises I would never choose on my own. I was able to use my OTF band so I can track my workouts. I go in the morning, and I routinely see the same people, which gives F45 a community feeling. This is a challenging workout for both your body and your mind, and I would say the degree of difficulty is right for the active person. I'd recommend for anyone looking to mix up their workout for an affordable price. Pros: Quick and efficient. Good Trainers. Saturday Hollywood classes (with DJ). Getting a spot in class significantly easier than other gyms. Lifting intensity greater than OTF but less than a Crossfit. Cons: No treadmills (surprisingly I miss this). My favorite place to workout! F45 Arlington is high energy, great music, and group workouts that are never the same. It is unlike any other group workout I have ever been to. I usually really dislike group fitness classes and working out in general usually feels like a chore to me, but F45 really is fun and something I look forward to every day. I love that the workouts are different each day, so you never get bored! There are no mirrors and you're so busy focusing on what you're doing that you don't have time to look at anyone else. The facility itself is clean with nice new equipment. They have plenty of different class times and you rarely have to be on a waitlist (unless it's for the Saturday classes where they have a DJ--sign up in advance!) The classes are super challenging yet efficient. It's a 45 minute work out (60 minutes on Saturdays) and can be modified for people of any fitness level. All the trainers are motivating and knowledgeable and always there to push you or help! The trainers and monitors at the front of the room show you the exercises/stations for each pod so always know exactly what you're doing. I've been going to F45 since it opened and have not looked back since! I was taking different classes on Classpass before this and tried all sorts of gyms and studios from Rosslyn to Ballston, but have not liked them enough to get a full membership anywhere. I luckily stumbled upon F45 and did their free trial, and it's been 7+ months since and my experience here has just gotten better. The coaches know your name, they correct your form, the workouts change daily, and if you ever get confused they have TVs that show you the workout. There's also always a second person assisting the coach in the class so you can also get help/corrections from them. I love that you're never stuck doing the same thing for a long period of time and still feel accomplished after. I've definitely gotten stronger since I joined and could do so much better on the individual movements so I know I've been improving! I joined their 8-week challenge which they do 4x a year and it has helped me lose weight and fat and understand so much more about food, nutrition, and working out. Some days can get crowded but people usually know to be aware of people around them and it's hardly been a problem for me. All in all a great place that is for sure worth trying out! read more

I have rarely posted a review on this site but I feel that F45 Arlington deserves to be recognized for what they are and what they do for their customers. I have been in and out of different gyms and training programs for the better part of 20 years and have to say the energy and sheer enjoyment I get from working out with F45 Arlington has been a welcome change to my routine. The owner and staff go out of their way to ensure you have the best workout experience you can, from correcting form, to giving advice on technique they are never to busy to help and always willing to chat. I had a pretty bad shoulder injury a few years back and generally nurse one side of my body while working out so much so that I rarely even think about it anymore. One of the trainers noticed this within the first few times I took her class and went out of her way to help me. She took time to give me alternative ways to perform certain F45 movements so I could build that area of my body up again without over stressing it. That was great in and of itself but she has continued to give me that advice anytime I am in one of her classes and that is above and beyond as far as I'm concerned. The vibe at F45 is more like going to meet up with a bunch of friends than it is like trying to convince yourself to hit the gym. I actually miss the energy and encouragement from the members there while I'm away for work and trying to workout in a hotel, and usually get in the first class I can when I get back. If you are looking to burn some calories in a fun and innovative way then I cannot recommend F45 Arlington enough. read more

I've been going to the ballston f45 since January, and it's really great! I'm not someone who loves working out, or feels confident with strength training, but the workouts are quick, efficient, and easy to learn. The trainers really put in effort to get to know you, and if you go to the same class time frequently, you'll notice there's really a community feel to the class. Everyone is supportive, positive and energetic- and (FYI for others with gym anxiety)- everyone is focused on themselves so there's no feeling of someone watching or judging you. The only critique I have on this class is that the shift between pods is quick, briefly explained, and can be very confusing. Also, the fast paced nature of the class and amount of jumping exercises can really take a toll on your knees (coming from a healthy 26y/o with no prior health issues) so you just have to be extra careful with form and take modifications every few weeks to give yourself a break. read more

I've had the opportunity to be a part of the studio for the past few months and have seen incredible progress in my fitness level in a very short amount of time. The workouts are extremely challenging (you will improve!), but the trainers are there to make sure you are pushing yourself and performing the exercises with good form in order to avoid injury- a huge plus since F45 employs personal trainers. F45 Arlington is a great gym set up to help you sweat it out and get your workout in, in a welcoming and fun environment! The owner and all of the trainers are very personable, kind, and knowledgeable about the exercises and equipment used during the sessions. The trainers walk around the gym to every member throughout the entire workout to check your form, provide modifications, and to push you a little harder and motive you. The 45 minutes classes fly by, are conveniently timed (with a ton of available class time options) and your muscles are burning and you're sweating buckets by the end of it. They provide towels for you to use during the workouts, 2 water fountains, clean and new equipment, foam rollers for stretching, showers in the studio, and clean bathrooms as well. My husband and I both tried the studio through their initial Groupon deal and loved it so much that we've been members ever since and go to classes 4-5 times a week. I've tried a couple of different gyms in the Arlington area such as 9Round Kickboxing, OTF, Club Pilates, etc. but none of them have suited me as well as F45 does!! read more
