Professional. Friendly. Honest. Knowledgeable. QUALITY. Need I say more?…read more We had a chimney fire -- a very scary thing!! -- right after a so-called reputable chimney sweep took our $100 and 'cleaned' the chimney. What that guy really did was just take our money and leave the creosote buildup. In the aftermath of that fire, we discovered that our fireplace, which appeared to be made of brick, was actually made of pre-cast concrete. And even worse -- the heat from that chimney fire was so intense that it broke the insulation plate. The insurance inspector took one look and condemned our chimney. The city code enforcement officer came out and took a look; he agreed with the insurance inspector. We were ordered to tear it down. Enter Dave Montgomery who not only gave us the best quote, but was everything you want in a contractor. He showed up, on time. He did a superb job of demolition and then rebuilt our fireplace and chimney with the Real Thing.... brick, not concrete. And every day, before he left, he cleaned up after himself. The end result is beautiful. He included an air inlet that we can open and close that allows air from outside into the firebox (now I don't have to have an open window letting cold air into my house just to enjoy a cheery fire.) The materials used were first-rate. The job he did was first-rate. It's been a while, and it still looks gorgeous and functions perfectly. Bottom line: if you need masonry work done, he's the guy to call. I highly recommend Dave Montgomery Masonry.

Batteries were changed in the remote and in the receiver but that didn't solve the issue. I have to add at this point, that this unit is in a rental property and we are landlords who were unable to be on site at the time our tenants brought this to our attention. Laurie, a super communicator and troubleshooter, comes to the rescue. She has a few things to ask the tenants to look for, identify and test. She narrowed down the problem all via email and text. Once the inop part was identified, it was ordered. As soon as it arrived, Laurie called our tenant directly to make an appt for installation. Between Laurie and our (fantastic) tenants, they pretty much took care of things between just the two of them . . . all we needed to do was provide payment. This is so, so appreciated and valued as landlords who were unable to be present at the property at the time. Btw, I also have to add that our tenants had nothing but great things to say about Laurie's communication and the installation visit as well - - - on time, efficient, neat, polite and very courteous. From initial inquiry to repair, all was done within a couple of weeks. The epitome of efficiency. Other companies were booking over a month out and their $ and time estimates were almost double b/c they required one visit to troubleshoot then another to install/repair once they had the part. Thank you Laurie and Warm Solutions for providing such quality services!

Feeling swindled This is my honest review of DenDefender…read moresecurity doors. So, I paid a little over $10,000. For a front security door and a back sliding security door with a doggie door. The installer was a true professional. He had to have someone bring him additional equipment because items were missing. Overall, it took about 6 hours to install both doors. The front security door looks great. The door is not air tights and does not have anything to prevent the door from swinging all the way open. Given this, when you open the door, you must hold on to the doorknob, or the door will swing all the way open crashing against the side of the house. This has chipped the paint off the doorknob. If you have stucco the doorknob crashing against it will crack and chip away at your stucco. If you have aluminum siding it will dent. Highly suggest DenDefender install a mechanism to prevent the security door from flying open when you open the door to enter or exit your house. The sliding door with doggie door looks great, however, the doggie door flap is heavy. A large dog (60+ pounds) will have challenges going in and out. If you have a small dog forget it. The dog will not be able to go through the flap. The flap must weigh a minimum of 3-lbs. I believe it weighs more but did not want to exaggerate. What's truly troublesome is that the sleeve/panel provided to prevent the doggie door from opening is located on the outside of the house. Given this you must open the sliding door, go outside to remove the panel, then come back into the house to let the dog out. Rendering the doggie door totally useless and now you do not have a security door because someone from outside the house controls who enters and exits. I request a new security sliding door without the doggie door since DenDefender did not provide me with up front information to make a wise decision. In return I got nothing more than an offer to be a ginny pig for changes to a new door and a call back to see if they can fix the problem. I got neither. You would think the sales representative or installer would let the consumer know this, but I guess DenDefender make extra money by charging you extra for a doggie door. I think what is truly alarming is that DenDefender is aware of this and does nothing about it. They cannot turn the doggie door around because your sliding door will not open or close all the way. A flaw in the design yet and still DenDefender sales this defective product. The ideal around security screen doors is great. However, give the many flaws I suggest saving money and getting your doors from Home Depo, Lowes, Anderson's or someone else. If DenDefender can fix the many flaws their doors can be a game changer until then I would not recommend their products.

After contacting several, I found United Chimney Services, and they are wonderful! I was able to schedule an appointment within a week of my call. Andy came out in February and cleaned our chimney as well as inspected the dryer venting. Andy explained everything to me, left everything as clean as he found it, and the pricing was very reasonable! Today, I had the ash slot inside the firebox and the ash door on the outside of the chimney replace by Tony and his crew of 2. Again, my appointment was within a week of my call; love that they're so responsive! Tony immediately noticed we had a couple decaying bricks on the chimney exterior that would need to be replaced to keep the integrity of the fireplace. Although they had spare bricks with them, I had some on hand that were a better match. When they were done about an hour later, the results were so seamless, the only way I could tell where the new bricks were was by the new mortar lines. The careful way they extracted the decaying bricks didn't cause any damage to the adjacent bricks; Excellent work and a terrific feeling knowing your chimney is safe! If you have any chimney concerns, make sure United Chimney is your first call!

On 10/13, I spoke with Christina to schedule a fireplace cleaning appointment for a date shortly after our call, with an arrival window of 8:00-11:00 AM. During that same call, I requested that a supervisor contact me regarding additional questions. No one from management ever returned that call. On the day of the appointment, the technician never arrived. At 10:00 AM, I contacted Jeffrey, who informed me the technician was running late and would arrive in the afternoon. No one showed up that afternoon either. When I spoke with Jeffrey again, I provided my address a second time. He then sent a confirmation notification containing the wrong address and even the wrong city. I called back once more to correct the information so the technician could locate my home. Despite all of this, no technician arrived at any point that day. At 4:00 PM, a customer service representative called to inform me that the technician "had something to do with his wife." This explanation was completely unprofessional and unacceptable. I demanded an immediate call from a manager. No one contacted me. To this day, I have still not received a single follow‑up call from any member of management. Adding insult to injury, I began receiving text messages a few days later offering to reschedule the fireplace cleaning. I made it clear that, given the severe inconvenience and complete lack of service, the cleaning should be provided at no charge. I received no response. This entire experience is a clear example of extremely poor customer service, a lack of basic professionalism, and an absence of any meaningful management oversight. Despite multiple requests, not one manager has contacted me. Based on the conduct I have witnessed, I cannot recommend this company to anyone. If these practices continue, it is difficult to see how this organization will remain in business.

Alex went up to the roof but did not clean away the debris up against the chimney, he took pictures but did not clean up the debris. I paid $100 for sealing the cracks in the chimney box and he did a good job with that. The inspection on the outside is where things get quite questionable, Alex advised they would fax me back and estimate of any additonal work. The estimate is for $1007. The report lists the condition of my Chimney report as "unsatisfactory" It also says the note is d/t the exit set up of the chimney, but that is not explained. further down in the estimate. Then below are 3 items for remediation. Repair to cap arrestor is noted as "rusted" needs prime and paint, then next box says " preventative" and " fire hazard", $259., the next is Chase cover " rusted or discolored, needs prime/paint, says "preventative" $399., for the base of chimney says " flashing - water issues - install diverter next box says preventative - gives the code that lists water diverter or cricket. The pictures do not show any rust on the cap arrestor nor the chase cover only soot, and the discoloration is dirty water on top d/t it had just rained. The base of the chimney picture is covered with debris that alex did not remove before he took the picture which means he did not actually look to see if flashing was below the tile, nor did he see that there was flashing there w/ a water diverter that had been installed by my roofer in July last year. It can be seen in the picture zooming to the R. The quote says w/ the code either water diverter OR cricket, but when you talk to them they say well its better with both. When asked about the estimate they sell you that its all legitimate work but then say, estimate does say preventative however, estimate also says condition of chimney is "unsatisfactory". If this is work that is not necessary at this time estimate should say currently satisfactory, just because it could be better does not mean its necessary. I would even beg to differ that since they did not remove the debris at the base of the chimney, not only is the inspection of that area invalid, it is also incomplete work because he failed to " clean the chimney area". I have talked to them at length about the report and they justify the "type of work is code work" but not really necessary to my house today. They dont come right out and say, this all might be things you should do in the near future to be proactive. The cost of just priming and painting, per my brother in law who is a contracter said thats an hour job and they want to charge you $700 then wondered why for the cost they would not just replace the cap arrestor for that price? Since I did have roof work done by a licensed contractor in July I will be reaching out to him for his comments and follow them up here. Still 1 star not happy with overall feeling misled and work on roof w/ debris left incomplete work.
