We were the only ones in the restaurant today at lunch. Our food was promptly served and my mom really enjoyed her Miguel's Tacos, however my chicken enchiladas left a lot to be desired. They were smothered with cheese that tasted like plastic. The sauce tasted like watered down tomato paste. The meal didn't taste right and the visual of the cheese piled up on the side of my plate made me feel queasy. It was even sunken into my beans. My gut was telling me to just stop eating altogether.. On top of this, our waiter, Juan, never came by to ask how we were doing or to fill our water. He seemed totally disinterested in serving us, with no enthusiasm whatsoever, a complete lack of energy in all he did. When he finally returned after we were done eating, I expressed my disappointment about my lunch (which I wish I could have told him sooner so maybe I could have tried something else), and thankfully he removed my meal from the bill. He also apologized for abandoning us at our table. (Adding that nobody even came over to re-fill our salsa, and my mom had to ask the girl helping Juan twice for a refill.) I still pressed the 18% tip button when I checked out because my mom enjoyed her tacos, however when I reviewed the receipt after I left I found that their calculator includes the food AND Connecticut state tax as the basis for their tip calculation! Their 3 for $13 taco selection included shredded chicken, fried chicken, beef, shrimp and sweet potato - all served with a respective variety of garnishes including cabbage, pickled onions, cheese, lettuce, tomato, cabbage and Sriracha or cilantro sauces. They also sell a $14 rice bowl and a few sides - churros, popcorn chicken, fried onion petals, and chips with salsa. We ordered a shredded chicken, beef and shrimp taco. First of all, they weren't skimpy portions- they were pretty decent for the price. I saw in a prior review that someone was unhappy about the two shrimp they received in their taco.  All I can say is that my shrimp taco most definitely had more than two shrimp in it. Service was super fast and pleasant and I would most definitely buy from them again.
