The food overall was up and down. I feel like on the Buffalo chicken egg rolls, the flavor of the chicken was good but eas overly breaded and slightly greasy. My parmesean Wings and buffalo wings were good. My strawberry Margarita tasted like syrup. My mac and cheese bites weren't flavorful and was heavily breaded. What upset me the most was the service. I called in advance about happy hour they told me 3-7. I get there and told the waitress and she said its 3-6. I showed her my phone on when I called and the manager even said 3-7. She went back and forth with her own manager in front of patrons which was super unprofessional about it. Which is wild because shes making jt seem like the money is coming out of her pocket personally in regards to happy hour. Ambiance was chill I dont really have any complaints. Food was fantastic! My husband had the Millhouse Chicken. Roasted red pepper, mushrooms, artichoke hearts, grilled chicken, and mozzarella served over ziti. My son had penne all vodka with eggplant parm on the side. Then they split a crabcake with mango salsa, with peaches with balsamic dressing. I had a cheese pizza. Their homemade bread is hands down the best! Their dining area is country themed. Warm and inviting. They also have a beautiful private room. Staff is so friendly and the head chef and owner came out to check the dining room. So nice to dine at a local business instead of a chain restaurant. read more

A nice surprise. I'm super picky, and don't usually go for the country vibe, but this was an off chance night and we sat in the bar just to get a feel for the vibe. Freddy the owner was incredibly hospitable. The bar was teeming with locals and it was a fun vibe with people eating at the bar. The TVs were on and the spirits were high. There was one server for the bar area pretty much doing it all. And I have to say she was amazing and 100% able to multi task all the bar orders and our table. While we were there the tables at the bar got filled up, and that was a good thing. I've heard people complain about the service but we had zero problems, and our food came out perfectly and in time. My drink was a Negroni and it was most excellent, on the strong side, but well done with top shelf liquor. For appetizer have calamari which were extra screwy and fresh tasting. The bread was homemade in their kitchen and delicious. The Lobster a ravioli was delicious. I think they said this was their best seller. A nicely constructed plate, and worth $29.00. There were 6 decent sized shrimp, and 6 large ravioli. The sauce was like a creamy red/pink sauce with a splash of wine, and perfectly seasoned. We also had a salmon dish (not shown,) baked potato with broccoli, with a generous piece of fresh Salmon. We really enjoyed the meal and we hope to back again soon! Spacious parking once you get past the huge pot holes, nice large place We decided that this is the only place that we will get a Steak and Fries they always make it spot on. Service was not good . We were there at 5. Ordered a seafood dinner off their specials . About 10 minutes later the waitress tells us they ran out of this . Per recommendation from a friend I asked if they had a burger special . She said oh yes you get a glass of wine with that . My husband doesn't drink so he had already ordered ice tea. I asked her if that would substitute ? Of course she said and brought him another glass. She also never asked me what kind of wine I would like. Another 10 minutes goes by .... Did you forget about my wine ??? Our burgers took about half an hour to cook !!! The salad was a dish of chopped Romaine ... that's it. Finally 2 hours later of being there we get the bill . Charged for 2 glasses of ice tea . By that time we were very disappointed in the whole experience I didn't even ask for her to take that off the bill. I've eaten at the Mill House Kitchen several times. The food is very good and cooked well. On my last visit I had the chicken quesadillas and they were the best I've ever had. Solid chunks of chicken and delicious. Burgers are very good also. The only negative comment is that they charge a fee if you use a credit card which I find very unappealing and the reason why I knocked down my star rating somewhat. Stopped in on a Thursday to meet some gal pals for a couple drinks. Though I had never been there before, I was greeted very warmly by all staff members as well as the owner. They made me feel like family though we'd never met! Amy. Grace, and Natalie greeted me when I walked in. Colleen made me feel like I'd known her for years. Lauryn at the bar was sweet as could be, and so was Dee. The owner, Freddy, gave me a tour and showed me the dining room and private banquet room. Beautiful! The food is great! You can tell the care that is put into the preparation. Plus, Ladies' Night is Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6-9. Wine is half off, and $1 off on all drinks and $1 off on all draft beers! Stop on in! Wife and I went here for a midweek lunch. Okay ur waitress was very friendly and attentive, the hostess was friendly as well. Inside was decorated nicely for the holidays and the private room looked great. The menu is a bit odd though. Limited and somewhat all over the place. You would expect more of a new American or steakhouse type of menu. But there were only a few sandwiches, a lot of Italian options and then meats. Pricing was fair! My wife got a burger that she enjoyed. I decided to get a steak sandwich. It was ok. Wasn't bad by any means but just average. Again based on the atmosphere I guess I expected more or it being better made. It was just a run of the mill pizza place style grinder with shaved steak. I would go back based on the service, location and clean/nice atmosphere. But the food and menu need some fine tuning. read more

More like a commercial slice of bad Boston Creme Pie. Onion soup was tolerable. Service, well... the only guy in there for lunch service was paying more attention to his phone. The restaurant is so charming, love the barn/ rustic decor. We were greeted by very friendly staff at the front desk. Our waitress Sage was awesome - she was so pleasant & cheerful. Our food was delicious. The appetizer and bread came out quick & was fresh! Our meals were delicious, the lobster ravioli was a little too salty but still very good!! When you walk in it is so inviting, no one was at the front we waited about 5 minutes for the lady to finally notice that customers were here. We ordered the steak which was very delicious and it came with homemade gravy which was good but it needed a tiny bit more salt to make it perfect , the fries were nice and crispy, salad was the right size the salad dressing was in a cup on the side, the asparagus was made right and on the menu it states that home style bread which we had to ask for or it would never been brought out because she stated they bring it out later in the evening. The Inside is beautiful I think it would be a perfect date night for couples because of the lighting, there is a room where it can be closed by barn doors which is really cute. The only issue I had was we were the only people in the dinning area, our waitress never came back after the food was dropped off at our table, we waited 10 minutes after we were done eating and my other half had to go the bar area to find her having a conversation to let her know we were finished. I don't think we will be back for lunch because we were kinda ignored, but I would love to see how it would be during the night time. read more

Gotten the exact same ones from food trucks and other restaurants. Minus 1 star for that. My food had no flavor and noodles were over cooked but the wife enjoyed her food and the bread was delicious. Losses another star cause service was bad. Took way too long to get drink refills and dirty dishes sat on the table the entire time we were there. Only 8 other tables were seated (at most) with 3 waitresses. We will give this place another try but definitely don't recommend getting the mozzarella sticks. I mean "fried mozzarella". I've had higher standard wings from the grocery store frozen section and the crab cake was fully imitation crab. We ordered the fried mozzarella, burgers and a chicken entree. We sat with 2 waters (3 at our table) and waited. We were able to hear a number of apologies from wait staff to other customers and hoped for the best. Waitress was very nice but as we were to find out sorry and continually doing the wrong thing is not good. Our app came before we ever got our drinks, and was cold when we got it. It came from fryer and died in the window, as did our drinks. Asked for a second drink when drinks came since it took so long. Dinners came, chicken dish was good. Burgers were identical, both ordered medium. One was well one was almost raw. I would have taken 2 well. Waitress was preoccupied and forgot drink, I had to get up and ask for it. She came back and apologized. Free dessert if we wanted. No thanks. When we were leaving the entire waitstaff was in a huddle talking about a large group that didn't go as they wanted. As door closed they gave us a come again! No thanks, every patron got comped something or was going to be given. Apologies were the only thing coming on a regular basis. I would not do again. 1/2 full restaurant and this was bad can only imagine what would have happened if they were slammed. read more

We had to throw out the food and get something eat somewhere else (Fuji for the win).Very over priced for the poor quality and quantity of the food. We were really excited to check out this new restaurant in town and we had the RUDEST waitress/bartender I have experienced named coincidentally Karen. Our drinks had no alcohol in them and the food was very late and our apps were forgotten. She coughed on our table and was even ruder after we told the AMAZING assistant manager about our experience. She made she we were taken care of and covered our drinks. Hoping this business doesn't allow their employees to treat customers like that again. Went for dinner. 3 people. Had dinners so salad was included. Salad was just cut lettuce with one slice of cucumber and two grape tomatoes. But since it was included, maybe ok? Two people got spaghetti and meatballs. Meatballs appeared steamed because they were just gray, not much flavor. Maybe shouldn't expect much? Third person got 18 oz T-bone steak special, medium rare. First steak that came out was maybe 6 oz, about the size of the palm of your hand. Sent it back for the correct steak. Maybe 5 minutes later, a T-bone comes out. It's maybe half an inch thick so still not 18 oz, very well done and has no browning, it's just gray. Did complain to the manager. He did not charge for the steak. Every item I have had has been just as good as the last I highly recommended the mussels, wings, steak, burgers, hell! I recommend everything The only downfall was when I came last week and the bartender, Amanda, gave me a drink menu she had worked on for the fall and I was so excited to try literally everything on there. But tonight she gave me the sad news that her drink menu wouldn't be the featured drinks. She was still able to make myself and my son amazing cocktails and recommended an amazing white wine to compliment my mussels. Please try these guys out. The first time we visited was much better. Last night was a disaster. The waitress forgot to bring our salads. I still wanted mine but was disappointed when it had 2 cucumber slices and two halves of a cherry tomato on it. No shredded carrot or onions! Tried here for the first time tonight - upon walking in half the restaurant was dark with an employee sitting at one of the tables, she promptly informed us she " wasn't actually working " but continued to seat us on the bar side anyway. When we got sat there was maybe 8 other patrons in the bar area with one waitress who I am assuming was also bartending since I saw no one else on shift. Our drinks came, we ordered appetizers ( crab cakes & calamari ) thankfully both of those were edible as our meals unfortunately were not. Not only did it take exceptionally long (another two top had sat down shortly after us, got their meals, paid and left before our entrees came out) but only one of the three entree's ordered were up to par. I ordered the seared salmon with mashed potatoes and asparagus - the salmon was not cooked through and tasted extremely fishy to the point where I could not get past it as well it had 0 seasoning simply a piece of baked fish. the mashed potatoes were OK - added pepper to give them some flavor and the asparagus was just that... asparagus. The burger that was ordered my partner took two bites and described it as inedible - he ended up eating his fries and that's it. We as well had a chicken wrap which was decent in size and we ended up taking half of it home. We paid for our meals and left, didn't want to make an issue for the waitress as the quality of the food & time it takes to cook is not her fault. We had hoped for better of this place but we probably won't be back. For the $100+ tab, I could have cooked it all home for half the price. read more

The only reason I gave it a one star is because there wasn't anything lower! Service was horrible. Out if six meal orders only five were brought out and one of those was inedible, a meatball grinder with the roll so soaked in water that it wouldn't stay together. While still waiting for the sixth order, it was taken back and cane out worse than before so it was again returned. The other meal was never brought to the table and the inedible meal was never served again. Do not waste your time or money here! There are many other excellent restaurants in Torrington/Winsted area to patronize. I believe the Mill will not be around much longer. read more

This was our first time coming here and we came because we had a coupon and are always looking for a great new place to eat. Menu had some interesting choices. We started with Philly Steak egg rolls. They arrived steaming hot and smelled delicious but had a weird spice in them and they tasted nothing like Philly steak at all. Didn't finish them. Southwest burger was a huge disappointment. I ordered medium rare and my burger was not only well done, but hard and chewy. Between the mayo, avocado ( mashed ) and pico de gallo it was nearly impossible to eat with everything sliding off the lettuce and squirting out of the now mushy bun. I spent more time wiping my hands than eating. The jalapeños I got on the side had a weird flavor like they were old and the pickle that came with it was mushy. My husbands burger was also dark brown and hard. He left most of it. Bottled beer was barely cold enough. On a good note my Manhattan was tasty and the service was great. Unfortunately for me, great service doesn't do anything if the food isn't good. Try it for yourself but unfortunately this is not the " great new place" we were hoping for and we probably won 't be back. read more
