The beignet. Heavier than those you'd get on Decatur Street in New Orleans. But good. Stopped the salty sting of greasy boil.

It's unique for the area. I give them credit for providing an interesting way to hemorrhage money as a customer. Menu cannot decide if it's Mexican or New Orleans. But still, we wanted the experience. Ugh. It's like I saw myself sliding slowly toward the guardrail on an icy road and I couldn't do anything to stop it. Ugh. Family of 4. 2 of whom are big teenaged boys. Appetizers: Wings - disapoonting frozen Tyson breaded kind. Blue cheese clearly straight out of the bottle. Blackened bison nachos - pretty good. A little dry. Very few veggies. Small 2oz soufflé cup of jarred salsa and sour cream (this turns out to be the best part of the dinner). Dinners: 3 different boils and one ultimate shrimp basket. Seafood was decently cooked. Very greasy and buttery - almost to the point where it only tasted like fake butter. Oh, add sausage to your boil (which it should by definition have)... sure add $$$. Want it "extra juicy?" No problem .... More $$$. The food comes in a clear kitchen trash bag. You're given a bib and subway sandwich artist gloves - when all is combined with the fake butter... nothing can be held in your hands. I felt like I was picking through the trash for my meal. I couldn't wait to be out of food. I just wanted it to end. Everyone at the table, at some point, said "they wished they ordered a burger...". Ugh. Oh, the atmosphere ... it was dead silent with the addition of repetitive slamming of a snare drum from the JV band warming up for 2 hours. Thank God we left before they started playing. It was dead silent as management reserved all but 4 tables for those perhaps coming to see the band. So there was NO atmosphere at 6pm on a Saturday night. Just empty tables that could not be used. Note: they were still empty at 720 when we left. The worst part... we literally needed to order dessert to get the grease and stingingly hot/salty tastes out of our mouths. Thus, pushing our bill over the (DRUM ROLL) $300 mark. In-effing-sane! There is a tavern next door. A KFC 1/4 mile away. As well as a food court at Big Y. Any of those would have been a better idea. We were in Torrington, there's literally hundreds of better places. We just wanted to try the experience. Well, we had one. Service was good (because it was empty yet fully booked). Dessert was cool with fried to order beignet. Photo below.

Came in not very crowded. Sat at the bar and ordered a drink and dinner. Staff were very funny. The place itself has a lot of charm. My meal came and I enjoyed every bit. Different way of serving which is in the bag it's cooked in. When you first look at it, it doesn't seem like a lot but it filled me right up. I'd say overall it was a good experience

Very broad but tasty seafood based menu as well as standard American fare like burgers and children's menu. Taco Tuesday is a great deal for $3/taco! Full bar and great beer selection. Check the schedule for the great local talent musicians who perform there mostly for Free with a good size dance floor. Great date night or family outings destination!

Came in again with my mom for her birthday ! We each got a lb of mussels and Lb of Shrimp with heads off in their Cajun boil special sauce fire level spicy. We both loved it and the sauce was just delectably amazing. And the service was great and so fast, quick, and attentive.

I ordered a cup of the Gumbo and an order of Cajun Corn Ribs, which was like a Cajun version of deconstructed Mexican street corn. Both were fantastic! The Gumbo was so flavorful and the corn was addictive. I need to try and recreate it at home. My fiance got the half sausage po boy sandwich and cup of Gumbo. He ate every bite! Not only was the food delicious but the space was as well. The walls are dotted with pictures of New Orleans and the jazz music flowing through the speakers transports you to NOLA! Our server was working alone that day and she hustled to ensure everyone was taken care of. Highly recommend!

We got there around 1:40 p.m. and they closed at 2, so my friend was a little worried, but we were still welcomed and the staff was very friendly. It's a small place, but I actually liked that it felt cozy. We ordered 12 oysters, two orders of gumbo, a kale Caesar salad, the catfish special to split, and a bourbon-based drink. The oysters were $2 each, which I thought was a pretty good deal. The gumbo was really, really good. It came out a little lukewarm, but the flavor was absolutely there 10/10. The oysters were fresh and also 10/10. The bourbon drink was another standout. The presentation was beautiful, the little flower was such a nice touch, and it tasted just as good as it looked. The kale Caesar was where things dipped a little. It was pretty dry, so we asked for extra dressing, but the dressing didn't really add much flavor. When our waitress checked in, we were honest and said it just wasn't our favorite. I hate sending food back or complaining. I'll usually just stop eating it but she was so kind and apologetic. What really stood out was how they handled it. They told us they were taking the salad off the bill, which they absolutely did not have to do. We had planned to just take the one we had already eaten from home and fix it ourselves, but one of the staff members made us a completely new salad to go. She even massaged the kale so it was actually tender and enjoyable. That was such a thoughtful touch. The catfish was a hit for my friend. It wasn't my favorite, but I still ate it. Overall, I would definitely come back. Next time I'd probably keep it simple; oysters, gumbo, and a drink and I'd be happy. The service was phenomenal, and honestly, service really makes a place. Feeling welcomed and comfortable matters, and this place absolutely gave that.

Snow crab was nice and sweet. Just a little hard to get out of the shell. Wish we had one of those pic like instruments. It would have made it easier than just the cracker. The mussels were really good and the shrimp were great with the sauce We both went with a Soho special which is their signature sauce and we did two scoops for the heat level. It was perfect. Just a little bit of heat. Not too spicy. I liked being able to try all the seafood in the feast boil, but I think my favorites were the snow crab, clams, mussels, and the shrimp so I might just go with those next time. Bob the owner was extremely polite and very helpful, offering help and suggestions for my selections. I picked up large sea scallops, ahi tuna, Scottish salmon, blue crab salad and some smoked salmon. All very tasty and as fresh as it gets unless you catch it yourself. But, be prepared to pay a premium price for any seafood bought from Cold Harbor. The nice lady at the register noticed that I was a Veteran and said they give a 15% Veterans discount on some, not all items with proof of service. Even though the name (Kawa) and menu have changed a bit over time, the heart of this place has never changed--and that's what keeps us coming back. One thing that truly stands out is that this is a family‑owned restaurant, and you can feel the care, pride, and love they put into their food and service. It adds a level of warmth and authenticity that you just don't get everywhere. Our group ordered a wide range of dishes, and not a single plate was left with food on it. Several guests tried the special fried rice, while one had the chicken fried rice. Everyone loved their meals so much that I even ordered an extra fried rice to take home. We also enjoyed a great selection of sushi, including a few rolls we had never tried before. Their sushi roll prices are the best in the area, yet the quality remains consistently excellent. The sashimi we ordered was fresh, beautifully presented, and did not disappoint. One guest ordered the noodles with shrimp and said it was the best they'd ever had. To top it off, the restaurant has a surprisingly wide variety of Asian beers at very reasonable prices. The beers we tried were a big hit with the group and paired perfectly with the food. The service was another highlight of the night. Our waiter was wonderful--attentive, friendly, patient, and on top of everything our large party needed. Managing a group of 14 isn't easy, but he handled it flawlessly and made us feel well cared for. My fiancé asked him a lot of questions on some of dishes and he was very knowledgeable. After more than a decade of visiting, this birthday dinner reminded me exactly why this place has remained one of our family favorites.
