Baja fish taco

We wanted to celebrate our anniversary with our teens. We love their tacos and apps. Churros are their all time favorite. It's fun to order with a piece of paper and pencil , checking whatever each one wants. I think the kids love the experience itself. It was crowded when we went here. I have been to Bartaco in North Carolina and Westport CT. The ambience is not as pretty as the others but the location is still quite good.

We have been going to Bartaco for years! Pleasantly surprised to have seen some changes to the menu and seeing some old favorites return. I absolutely love the convenience of ordering on your phone and not having to flag anyone down when you'd like to place multiple orders of tacos or sides. In all our years visiting Bartaco we have never had a bad experience, the food has always been deliciously on point. Highly recommend the pork belly taco, I could eat an endless supply! Another favorite is the cauliflower taco which is surprisingly "meaty" for being a veggie taco. Definitely can't miss out on the street corn and green salsa! Overall a fantastic spot for a date night, outing with friends, business meeting. Service is always great... friendly and attentive.

In my opinion, bartaco consistently has great food and even better tacos. Whether you're in Port Chester NY, Westport CT, Boulder CO or in Seaport Boston I've never been unhappy. This was my first time at the West Hartford location. It's in a cute little area surrounded by shops. Parking on a Saturday may not be easy, if you want to skip the circling and pay to park, you can walk over from the public lot about a 1/2 block away. The food as always was tasty, fresh and consistent. The only issue we had was with the margaritas. (And to be honest, it's really one of the only reasons I go.) This day they varied from order to order. Some were way too sour, some weren't even what we ordered , some had too much agave, and they would alternate between salt and no salt. (I had asked for no salt.) Very unpredictable. We were only there for a few hours, and it was the same bartender at the bar, so consistency seems to be an issue with the cocktails.

Bartaco in West Hartford is too fun! I went with a large group of girls and we had a blast! We had delicious appetizers including cheesy corn and fried plantains which were so yummy. We were able to split the checks individually so props to the servers for keeping track of all that. I'm vegetarian so I got the mushroom, brussel sprout and cauliflower tacos which were all fabulous and packed with flavor in every bite. My only critique is that the music is loud and the environment is dark so if you are hard of seeing or hearing then this place might not be for you. But other than that it's so fun and tasty.

Delish!! Super fun ambiance and loved the easy order with filling out the order checklist sheet. Great service and great location downtown.

Tacos

Is our Mother's day tradition. Never disappoints. Service is always prompt and friendly. Tacos are so good. The atmosphere is so chill and laid back. Very airy and " beachy" Don't skip dessert the churros and dips are sooo good!

Bartaco is the hotspot in Weha. Its consistency has made this place a go to for Tacos any day of the week. Especially now in the summer featuring the surf and turf and retro pork and pineapple tacos. The surf and turf is a lobster steak combo that has a perfect summer feel and taste. The Baja fish taco and crispy shrimp tacos are also a favorite with a crispy crunch and coleslaw that makes your tastebuds happy. They also are currently featuring a watermelon basil margarita that tastes like a jolly rancher! The churros are a classic and comes with a deep dark chocolate and a sweet vanilla dip that you can never go wrong with. I always enjoy a good night out at Bartaco and the server Charise is the best!!

Just salsas.

Had been coming here for about 15 years. This time , restaurant was about 70% occupancy. Decent, not crowded. Service, Great, as usual. Food, the worse in 15 years. Ordered a rice bowl, rice had a consistency of being reheated several times. They brought the appetizer at the end, birria tacos were burnt. Like the place, but from time to time, like this one, something fails.

We were visiting my Mom and went here for lunch. It's a chain but was great. I'd love it if they opened by me. Service was friendly and quick. We wanted a light lunch so we each got 3 tacos. Soft tacos and very tasty. We had fish, pork, duck, and beef all yummy. Liked the ambience of the place. Well worth a stop in my opinion.

Bar Taco never disappoints. Our waitress Cherish was amazing. We enjoyed talking with her and she made great suggestions.

My adult daughters have raved about this establishment for quite awhile. While visiting this weekend, I had my first opportunity to try it out. I must say they were spot on. The restaurant is large, loud and popular. Nevertheless, the waitstaff was friendly and efficient. They do tend to rely on QR ordering but were more than willing to help in person. The variety of tacos offered was excellent and I particularly loved the pork belly option as well as the Baja fish. The flavors were fresh and elevated beyond a typical offering. While I did not try them personally, my daughters raved about margaritas. I would definitely recommend this place.

Look at those plantains, love their pineapple punch when I'm there for their live DJ! Their outside dining areas have heated towers so it's always a good time. Clean area and good entertainment

This was my 1st time at this location, I usually go to West Port. Hartford traffic overwhelms me but things went smooth this trip. There is parking in the from and back but you have to pay at the meter. Unfortunately it didn't work for me, so I had to download the app to pay. I walked into what I thought was Bartaco but it it was Barcelona. Apparently the two are right in front and behind each other. Bartaco is in the front lol. The ambiance in both was top tier lol. Once I got to the right establishment I was immediately greeted and asked where I'd like to sit. Everything was clean and very nice. After I chose my sit, I was asked how I'd like to order and if I was aware of the QR code and dragon card. I replied yes and placed my order through the qr. typically I'm used to not having many interactions with staff this way, but that was different here. The manager checked in and asked if everything with my order went okay. I pointed out that the price was a lil higher. When we checked I realized I ordered 2 street corns. He offered to take one off but I said I was okay, if e could just send the 2nd to go. I ordered Korean Bbq Ribeye Rice Bowl, Pork Belly taco, Street Corn, Pineapple Express and Churros. Each dish was brought out by a server that confirmed the order and greeted me with a smile. This was my 1st time trying a rice bowl and the Pineapple Express. The bowl was yummy but the kimchi was way too salty. When I removed it, everything else was perfect. The tacos are really small, like you can finish them in one bite, so I usually order 3. Pork Belly is my favorite. I love the flavor and the texture of the meat. The Street Corn is elote which I love. It's the perfect combination of salty and sweet. The Pineapple Express was a 10 out of 10! If I wasn't driving would've ordered another one. The flavor was delicious and is was not weak! The churros are always top tier. Perfectly crispy, warm and sweet. They come with two sauces. I find the chocolate to be overpowering. Very strong like dark chocolate meets expresso. The vanilla is lightly sweet yet very flavorful. You can taste the vanilla bean. The manager and other staff checked on me several times. The customer service was top tier. I highly recommend and I will be back to try something new. Especially that Tres Leches!

What time is the lunch box available until?

Is there any dancing here?

nope.

What's vegan on the menu?

chips + salsa. most of the sides: salad. steamed rice. corn. pineapple. possibly the cauliflower or mushroom rice bowls. but some of the veggie tacos have cheese on them. the waitstaff is awesome and can probably help you out with that.

Can the free one Taco tokens be used on any of the tacos or just select ones?

our waitress helped us redeem it for the pricier tacos so any.

"Oh, Mexico It sounds so sweet with the sun sinking low…read moreMoon's so bright like to light up the night Make everything all right" (James Taylor) Of all the West Hartford restaurants I've been to, this must be the most "un-West Hartford like" place I've ever seen. It's unpretentious, it has limited indoor seating (but there are outdoor options weather permitting), customers are served out of Styrofoam containers, and there are no booths. It felt more like we were in a beachside taqueria than in Fancy Pants West Hartford Center. But Oh, My Sweet Lord, are the food and value fantastic. We ordered at the counter after perusing their large and (honestly) somewhat confusing menu, and eventually settled on a Mexican Street Corn Equites ($7.50) as a shared appetizer, an El Jefe (Cheese) Quesadilla ($11), and an El Soltero Two Taco Plate ($14.95). The portions were huge, so for our $41 after tax and tip, half of everything came home and we'll be getting four servings from that $41. We started off with some complimentary chips and salsa. I fortified my salsa with some of the four hot sauces on my table, and I'm pretty sure at least one of them was home made. The Street corn appetizer was incredible. It was served in a big creamy bowl with cotija cheese and chili lime aioli. Amazing flavor, and a big portion too. The El Jefe was an immense portion served with four sides - salsa Mexicana, cotija cheese, sour cream, and guacamole. There was a generous variety of melted cheeses inside the quesadilla. My El Soltero is advertised as a "Personal Sized Meal for One", but that has to be a misprint because the amount of food for $14.95 is ridiculous. It included two purple corn tortillas, my choice of taco protein, guacamole, pico de gallo, taco slaw, and rice & beans. I went with Pescado (fried fish) and Crispy Shrimp as my proteins. Everything came piled into a Styrofoam container, so I could create my own masterpiece. My dinner was fantastic. Throw in the beautiful artwork inside and outside the building, the Mexican music, and free parking (Free in West Hartford !!!) and you'll see why this was such a fun night. So go visit and be sure to leave your West Hartford expectations (price point and otherwise) behind.

This was their turn to try, and we made the trek here to give it a shot. The place is next to a Whole Foods with some small signage to indicate that it's there. The mural up front is very pretty and a stark contrast to the rest of the area. When you go inside, it feels like an old saloon, a little dark and a little unkempt but not off puttingly so. They had three menus to look at, and none of them matched. I asked about a walking taco they offered and was told it was not available. Asked if they would edit the menu and was told they would not because they were limited in menus. So the staff were a little irritated by us being there, which falls into the saloon atmosphere. We get some elote and some tacos, take them to go and after about 15 minutes we had food. Went to the car and dug in. The corn of the elote was not fresh, lead to soggy bites of corn covered in mayo and stale fire Cheetos. There was no attempt to make the tacos, instead we were given a plate of toppings with tortillas on top. The meats were lightly seasoned and not spicy, and I suspect they were hoping the tortillas would get warmed up by the food because they were tough and inflexible when we got them. Given the area, there's a lot of places to eat around there. You need to stand out to draw in patrons, and they don't seem to be trying so much anymore. They might be a decent bar, but not so much a good restaurant.

We've been coming here since it first opened and have noticed a significant change over the last couple of years. Tonight, when we walked in, the only acknowledgment we got was from a waitress who was already helping another customer--no one was at the front to greet guests. I understand it's the holiday season, but it was surprising to see empty tables and a lack of energy in the restaurant. We ordered our usual drinks and the guacamole, which oddly came in a red plastic bowl this time. The guacamole itself was delicious, though. My wife ordered the shrimp tacos, and I got the steak fajitas. The tacos came with a side of white rice, but we were pretty sure they used to come with beans as well, so we asked for a side. The steak fajitas were fantastic. Still, I couldn't help but notice the cheese--it didn't look or taste like the usual white cheese they typically serve, though I could be mistaken. The staff was friendly and attentive, but overall, something just felt off.
