Great experience with Speedy Nelson! He's not cheap, but he's exceptionally conscientious and knowledgeable. He serviced our two HVAC units. He was thorough, explained everything clearly, and was willing to answer questions without making me feel rushed. I never felt like he was trying to sell me something I didn't need. Nelson went above and beyond what I expected from a service call. Both HVAC units are cooling much better now, and I'll definitely use him again. read more

Carrie came the same day as called, and replaced the compressor the day after - and this was after finding a source in South Carolina! Always great value and professionalism! read more

BUYER BEWARE. Our HVAC stopped working, and I called Speedy Nelson. Carrie came and said the compressor was broken and that there was no way it could be repaired without either several thousand dollars for a new compressor or (her recommendation) an entirely new unit for a cost of $9000-$9800. I then called another technician who was able to repair the unit in 5 minutes. I am not sure if Speedy Nelson is lacking the appropriate HVAC knowledge /experience or if she was just hoping to sell in a new unit, but I am thanking my lucky stars that I got a second opinion. I will not be using this company again. read more

Speedy indeed ! This little company runs circles around the BIG IMPERSONAL HVAC companies that offer 'CABLE GUY' appointments between 7 AM and 12 Noon weeks in advance. Both times after we called, Mr Nelson came SAME DAY and diagnosed, repaired, and confirmed correct AC operation. AMAZING ! read more

Wow! Speedy came to my house yesterday to fix my AC and they were fantastic! Professional and thorough, they explained the issue to me and made sure nothing else was wrong with the unit. They were very communicative and even followed up last night to make sure it was working. And....in this heat, they were able to come out same day!!!!! I'm definitely going to use them going forward for HVAC maintenance! read more

Our AC broke in the evening. They responded to my text so quickly and came out the next day. Great job!

Tl;dr: Great communication, quick diagnostics and service, helpful follow up. Now that it's warm outside, we keep the air on and noticed that our house was never cooling off and in fact was just warming up as the day gets warmer. We called in the morning and they told us they could make it by midday the same day which was very helpful. They gave us a window of 1-3pm and were there at 1:05pm. They got to work immediately and diagnosed the issue, gave options and then went about their work. They were in and out within an hour and a half. Later in the day I got a text from Carrie who was checking in. We noted that the issue didnt fully resolve, and then told us that they will be out first thing in the morning. I was told around 9am, but I got a text at 7:45 asking if it was okay if they came earlier which was definitely OK because we had plans later in the day. Carrie came, checked everything once again, and then did due diligence and found something else that they could manage, which seemed like fixed the issue. They continuously texted and checked in which I appreciate, most places just service your place and move onto the next and expect you to make another appointment a few weeks out. They are professional, prompt, and communicative. read more

My furnace passed on to it's eternal reward. Carrie and crew were here within minutes of my call and had the new one installed and up and running within hours. I can never thank them enough for keeping me from freezing. read more

They answered the phone on a Saturday afternoon, and I were at my house on Sunday morning. No weekend up charge. They were thoughtful, kind and courteous. They offered me multiple options at different price points. They had everything working again in a matter of days and it was a big job. They checked in on me multiple times and went above and beyond getting my Google nest thermometer working. Highly recommend! read more

Talk about speedy response! They are friendly, informative, resourceful, and effective.

Fantastic service from outstanding, knowledgeable HVAC professional. Speedy Nelson is the BEST of the BEST! There's never a good time to lose your AC in a NC summer, but the worst time is on a Saturday night during a heat wave! After spending a miserable night trying to fix the AC on my own, I called Speedy Nelson on Sunday morning at 8am. I was expecting to get a recorded message or maybe a call center where I could leave a message and hope to get a callback in 24 hrs. But my call was answered by Carrie -- a real person and expert HVAC tech! Carrie said she'd be at my house by 1pm that day. Once here, she quickly diagnosed the problem, informed me of the cost, and then went to Raleigh to pick up the part. Fantastic service, outstanding customer care, and--most important--impressive honesty! Carrie could have told me the whole unit needed to be replaced or that it would take a week to get the part -- I would have been none the wiser. Instead, she went the extra mile (many miles, actually) to fix my AC that day. The "cherry on the top" was when Carrie checked in a few hours later to make sure the AC was working with no problems. I not only got excellent AC service from Speedy Nelson but also the bonus of dealing with a local, family-run company that really cares about their customers and the community. I highly recommend Speedy Nelson HVAC (919-949-1826)! read more

I am very happy with my AC replacement experience with Speedy Nelson! They replaced my 20+(or 30+? I don't know) year old AC, much faster than I had expected in the middle of the summer and COVID induced supply shortage. I am very impressed with their work ethics and pretty happy with their workmanship - especially the air handler installation. When I expressed that the water pump was too loud they came and fixed right away. I didn't spend any time asking quotes around, but when I compare notes with my friends it seemed that their price is very competitive. Overall, I highly recommend their service. Not sure why their Yelp review is so mixed, but I am happy to support such a family owned small businesses. read more

As the owner of an older home, I was in close touch with these guys over the years as they helped me keep my old HVAC alive. They do amazing work for a great price and always work with my schedule to get to the house as soon as possible. Recently, I had to replace my HVAC unit (20+ years old) and Speedy Nelson was able to get me fixed up right away with a new unit at an affordable price. They're always responsive, kind, and very reliable. Highly recommend!!!! read more

I can't believe the incredible service we received, really really amazing. I called around 5:30 expecting a voicemail box that was full of a visit at $200 just to come to my house in a week. What I got was a real live person on the phone who said she'd be there in an hour - $65 for the visit and they fixed the issue in 30 minutes for a total of $180. It's the middle of August in NC - this is the kinda company you need on speed dial! read more

Very nice and very efficient. Came out the same day when called. Also texted me later that night to make sure my AC was working good. Will Definitely Use Again.... read more

Wonderful service!! I called mid-morning about a broken AC. Carrie picked up right away, and said they'd be able to come out that same day at 4:30. And guess what? They arrived at 4:30 on the dot (after texting to let me know they were on their way). Carrie explained clearly what the issue was and they were able to fix it right then, for a very reasonable price. The next day she texted me again just to make sure that everything was still good. I couldn't be happier with the excellent customer service and communication, and they did great work as well. Enthusiastic five stars for this family-run business. read more

We contacted Speedy-Nelson after our AC stopped cooling on one of the hottest days of the year. Nelson and Carrie came out the next morning and repaired our problem. Nelson and Carrie are very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions and completed the repair at a very reasonable price. Answered calls promptly, fast service, and fair pricing. This has been by and far the worst experience I have had with dealing with anyone and they rank scored almost 200% in unprofessionalism . They were referred to us by one friend who had done some work with themand they showed up right on time. Told me that they charge $50 upfront for showing up. I was like "ok" but had a broken water heater and being the first timer , did not think much. Next day they started off and out came two people and one of them was a lady who did all the talking. I already knew by this time the tank needs to be replaced and when I asked them it needs replacement how much they could charge .. they said $1900 which was absurd. I had by that time had checked and saw that the replacement water heater was around $1000 at the max and they were charging around $900 for their service which was ridiculously expensive. By then the first thing they ensured was to get the $50 dollars for their so called "expert" advise and then quoting that charge sped off. In the end I called up and reasoned with them that the charge was very high and let's see if you can get the right price for the work . But the lady was like "this is what we charge and if you don't want to work ... Buzz off". After pocketing $50 I guess they were happy with 5 min of work and we're not even bothered with the work. In the end I was thinking to myself that it was good riddance and did not want to work with them. Never been a yelper before, but the attitude rubbed me off badly and I don't review , but I had to do it for someone else so that they do not fall into their trap again. Guys , business is a trust. You cannot grow unless you trust and at least see if you can come on level ground to understand customer and not just waiting to rip off people. Please DO NOT WORK WITH THESE GUYS!!!!!!! read more

Refrigerator quit and called Nelson, they came over and fixed it pretty quick and reasonable too.

Good communications. Reasonable price. Quick availability. My mini-split stopped working. Speedy Nelson came out right away and determined that the system was low on freon which they put in. That didn't fix the problem so I called them the next day and they arrived later that day. They put in more freon and fiddled with the unit and got it to work so I am a happy camper. I ding them 1 star since they had to visit a 2nd time. read more

Called Speedy Nelson as I found their ad on Craigslist - $45 dollar for service call/diagnostic. The technician found that the compressor wasn't getting enough power from the main controller board. Because of this, the technician determined that the main controller board should be replaced. I ordered/replaced the main controller board and sub controller board as recommended; however, this did not resolve the issue. I've placed numerous calls and text messages to the technician but received no calls/text messages back. It's okay that your recommendations didn't resolve the issue - I'm fine with that, but now I'm pissed that no return calls/text were made. If you would have returned my call/text I would have gladly paid another $45 for a return trip (money left on the table in my opinion). Bad way of doing business - I'd think twice before giving Speedy Nelson a call for help read more

Terrible service - doesn't stand by their work. They said they replaced our entire unit - 5k later - the problem was still happening. They blocked our number when we asked them to look at it again. Called another tech who told us they not only over-charged us by a lot but DID NOT replace everything and the wiring was done completely wrong - hack job! Nasty to tenants in the building, rude to us. Don't use them! They are NOT a company like they claim it's one girl and her dad but the girl does the so called "worked" and not the right way. If I could have given no star I would have read more
